Onto the entrées, my husband and I decided to split the squid ink pasta, lasagna, and the hot honey smoked prosciutto pizza. The portion for the lasagna was a lot smaller than I thought but honestly, I was super full by the end of it. I really enjoyed the pizza because it wasn't super oily and the flavors all worked really well together. Overall, this was a really pleasant dining experience. I would say the food was pretty solid. Dal Grano's is a neighborhood place. We love how when you are dining, they actually talk to you and are friendly. There are a few other places around Mclean proper which I wish were more overtly warm and hospitable, in this way. All of Dal Grano's pasta is homemade and delicious. It's definitely great for carryout pasta or a diner-style environment with a homemade pasta lunch or dinner. I don't think they deliver or work with any of the delivery services. You just call and pickup. The butternut squash ravioli is tender and flavorful. We have probably have gotten different versions of their ravioli every time. Outside of the papardelle, I'm all in for their rich squid ink pasta when it's made. I don't go there enough to know if it's always available. They have over 50 homemade pasta combinations to choose from and a big freezer case of food to take home. My biggest issue with Dal Grano's is when I see all of the pastas in the serving bowls presented to order and cook, I want to buy them all at once. I know it sounds tacky, but they make me yearn for a pasta buffet there just so that I can taste all of the variations. Alas, if we were in town more we'd just need to go more often to taste all of their selection. There's only one other restaurant that does Italian this well and it's around 15 minutes away in Falls Church. But even that fabulous Italian restaurant does not compare with the amount and selection of homemade pastas at Dal Grano's.

I wish most eateries would have a dimmer switch by your table so that when you are ordering, there is sufficient lighting as you read the menu and when done can be adjusted to mood lighting. I noticed most of the upper forties and up patrons did the same thing as us when ordering.

It's not true that Capri is not good for kids. My kids love Capri. At least a couple of times, they even brought and did their homework right there at a table inside the restaurant. Capri indeed welcomes kids. I come to Capri for Calamari Fritti and Linguine Seafood. Shrimp, calamari, mussels and clams were fresh and excellent. Capri earned five stars because it worked hard to earn them. It's not because it happens to be in McLean and automatically thinks it can charge customers any prices without fine products and service accordingly. "Envelope, please." I asked for my fav "Linguine Seafood" right in the middle of the day. This dish only appears as dinner. But I got it. Capri made that accommodation with a genuine smile. In general we dress casually and well. Not only Capri is attentive to young diners like my children, but its service and food are worth every penny. Conclusions? We have excellent food and a memorable dinning experience. Capri gets business from us. Wait staff gets generous tips from us. read more

We have been enjoying Capri for a very long time. The service is always great and very courteous. I'm a big fan of homemade pasta and Capri has an excellent variety of dishes: lasagna, spaghetti, linguini, gnocchi, etc. Also, the appetizers and salads are always fresh and deliciously prepared. As a foodie myself, It is pretty obvious that the kitchen in this restaurant really cares about each specific dish and pays close attention to their ingredients, preparation, and quality. The sauteed cherries and raisin/almond rice were the perfect accompaniment. My husband order foi gras, and yes, it was the lobe - not a terrine, not a tourchon. It was paired beautifully with poached pear and I believe some aged balsamic vinegard. For someone who loves foi gras, this took us back when more restaurants served just the sauteed lobe. My husband was not too fond of the carrots that were served with it, but he doesn't like carrots so that's that. We couldn't decide on the halibut or the scallops so Saeed offered to do the halibut with a scallop on top for us to try. What a nice idea. We both weren't into the scallop (I think maybe it was a little overdone, but it was tasty) but the halibut was the star, especially in the lemon/butte sauce. For dessert, Saeed recommended some simple berries, flambe'd tableside, with a side of ice cream. That was perfect, and again, Saeed indulged us with a small glass of port and slice of chocolate cake. Everything was amazing. So, if you want great French food and a warm and engaging staff, come to Cafe Renaissance. It's what I would call, APPROACHABLE fine dining without the pretence and snootiness. Thank you Saeed for making Christopher's birthday a special one. Can't wait to come back to try your other dishes on the menu.

The location will have to doubting yourself but once you walk in it is delightful. Attentive service, great wine menu and daily specials ensure there is something for everyone. Had the mushroom soup and French onion soup. Both very good. I've had better French onion soup but this was very good. Mains were Parmesan crusted cod and fettuccine with vegetables. Both very good. Portion size was just right. Free dessert of chocolate mouse and raspberry cake was welcome and added a nice touch to the meal. I would definitely come here again and think it's a great place to enjoy if you want upscale at a very reasonable price.

The space has both an indoor and outdoor seating area, along with an accessible ramp if you have any parties that need to use it. We were sat quickly and live music was playing on a Saturday night. The table had bread already with a few different types of bread and we started off with appetizers, including the smoked salmon and the bacon wrapped scallops. Both were fantastic, particularly the bacon wrapped scallops. Whatever sauce they were cooked in felt next level and it was both decadent and rich without being overly filling. I also split a caesar salad and they were able to split it for us. For our mains we got the chicken parm and the lamb chops - both were spectacular. The chicken parm was thin and not overcooked and the sauce used was fabulous. Lamb chops were succulent and cooked to order. For drinks we got dirty martinis and ultimately an espresso martini. They made the dirty martinis perfectly to order and I loved the glasses they came in. We also tried the tiramisu which was pretty good as well. Service was 5/5, food was classic Italian you'd love, and easy parking, clean restrooms, etc. Definitely will be back.

We rolled in as a group of nine--never an easy feat for any restaurant--and somehow everything felt smooth, relaxed, and just the right amount of lively. Bonus points for the private room, which gave us the illusion that we were both very important and very well-behaved (jury's still out on the second part). Now, about those specials. "Super secret" makes it sound like you need a password and a wink--but really, you just need good judgment. I went with the fried veal chop, which arrived looking like it had its own zip code. Crispy, massive, and absolutely worth the internal debate about leftovers (there were none). I also got a taste of the pesto pasta with chicken--bright, flavorful, and the kind of dish that makes you question your own order for a brief moment. Drinks were on point, the ambiance hit that perfect balance between upscale and comfortable, and while there were a few pauses between courses, it honestly just gave us more time to enjoy the company (and pretend we weren't eyeing the next plate coming out of the kitchen). Bottom line: great food, great setting, and a place that can handle a big group without breaking a sweat. We'll definitely be back--if only to crack the code on more of those "secret" specials.
