The restaurant is located upstairs and there's an outdoor stairwell that leads up to the restaurant. The vibe is an older casual crowd. We ordered the mussels appetizer, branzino (deboned), linguini seafood pasta, and fettuccine pasta for our main meal. The complimentary bread was the real star of dinner. It was warm and very good. I couldn't stop eating it. lol The mussels originally come as clams/mussels and we only wanted the mussels. The busboy came out with both and then walked back as our server said no clams. They literally plucked the clams out and served it to us. It was a very small portion of mussels. The sauce itself was very good and the garlic bread that came with it. The branzino was ok, found about 10 bones in it, and the side of veggies were gross. Hence the less one star. It was $39 and they could have served better sides with the fish. Grilled rockfish + shrimp w/steamed fresh assorted vegetables, grilled scallops + shrimp scampi, spaghetti with tomato sauce and delicious meatballs, and tender delicious lamb shank w/honey walnut crust and wine reduction sauce. We were all happy with our meals. Also the pasta fagioli was delicious. Desserts - spumoni tartufo was soooo tasty and a chocolate mousse cake was good but very dense. Wonderful service. We've added Capri to our rotation of NoVa restaurants. Old world service, lovely dining room and fantastic cuisine. I haven't had better scallops or calamari, and the specials-- from fish to lamb never disappoint. The restaurant is located on the second floor of a retail shopping plaza-- out of eye sight from street level, but word of mouth reports help diners find it. Highly recommend. read more

This was my first time to Capri. We visit the McLean area from NY every few months. I passed Capri before and never went, honestly the sign made me think it was a pizza place, but Capri is a great Italian restaurant. We started with the eggplant appetizer and it was delicious, wonderful sauce. Picking an entree was tough as there were so many great choices. Choosing beef medallions in a red wine reduction was elegant and the chicken parmigiana over capellini was delightful. So try Capri, it is very enjoyable and our server Roberta was great! read more

Certainly skeptical at first. There was hardly anyone here at a little after 6. Slowly the room started filling up with older couples and families. I began to truly enjoy the ambience. For the Yelper who said it was too loud, I'm not certain that any Italian establishment or home could be called Italian if it wasn't loud. This isn't a gourmet Italian restaurant. It feels like you are dining in your Italian Grandma's parlor that harks of the 1990's. But I truly enjoyed people watching here. Their customers are obviously frequents and knew exactly what they were doing. And the food was spot on. Lobster bisque was light and perfectly seasoned. The food was not overly salte(d)-I don't want Yelp word finding salt(y) on this review, like some Yelpers have said. Veal Marsala with Shitake mushrooms was perfectly cooked. I chose pasta over veg and they coated it lightly in olive oil and garlic. Amazing with a gin martini. Service was attentive but not overly. I would certainly try other Italian restaurants but this one is a bit quirky and homey if you want a change, at least on Monday night. read more

Very happy with recent dining experience at Capri. They accommodated us early when our show at Capitol one Hall was shorter than expected. Bread was a great start. Also the Burrata appetizer (yum!). My hake fish was delicious, perfectly cooked. Had just enough room to try the limoncello cake which was wonderful! Service was great and wines were reasonable! Probably the best restaurant in the area. We were new to DC and lived in Md and were recommended to Capri by long time residents. The service and atmosphere were top notch and the food was homemade and delicious. However Md to Va was a trip and we wanted to stay closer to home. We tried many many restaurants closer to us but, after almost a year, of ok to disappointing dinners we returned to Capri because of the quality food and the friendly warm service. This was not only the worst Italian meal I can recollect, I'm pretty sure it was the worst meal we've had out in at least the past 10 years. We didn't arrive with super high expectations, but were a hopeful for a good pasta meal to enjoy over some wine on a weekday near home. Forget it! Service was okay. They didn't bring our bread or wine until after we had ordered entrees, but routinely filled our water glasses. Bread was not warm, nor was the cold, flavorless pat of butter (and where was the olive oil?) Husband ordered the linguine seafood. You could tell everything had been frozen, but it was edible. My pappardelle verde, however, was AWFUL. It was swimming in oil (see photo), pasta, chicken and sausage were all overcooked. I didn't want to ruin the evening and decided it wasn't worth sending back at this place, but it was hard to stomach and I didn't eat much. What you see is a strategic push-around-the-plate. Husband offered to switch but I couldn't bring myself to watch him suffer with this terrible rendition of papparadelle. No idea how you can mess this up but there you have it. Environment is a bit stuffy and stodgy - there was a surprising amount of people including a few families and an older crowd. Not noisy. Space needs an update. Bottom line though is the food is terrible and I'd rather cook any of their dishes at home myself. There are a couple of better choices in the area, or just travel a few extra miles into the District for a night off. read more

Let me start by saying that the service was superb! The waiters were on top of everything, smooth, professional, knowledgeable and friendly. I really liked the calamari and the burrata. Both appetizers were delicious. Calamari comes with fried Zuchinni. The batter and taste differs from regular calamari dishes. I greately enjoyed it. The entrees however were pretty boring. I ordered a veal Parmesan and it was extremely chewy with waaaay too much sauce. My friends got the seafood linguine and Parmesan shrimp which both tasted ok and a bit greasy. read more

We had a reservation fir a birthday...and the power went out in the town so people flocked to the restaurant. One of us was there 11 minutes before. We were 5 minutes later. They sat a walk in (who we heard say try to get in)...before us and made us wait 40 minutes. URGH!!!! And the hostess directly lied about it all. First and foremost, I would like to say the food is always fantastic. From the pastas, salads, calamari, veal, and the delicious tiramisu. One thing I would say I have never seen anywhere else is that they respect their customers and do not rush them out. They were very nice and seated my family and I down even when we got their a bit late. Capri is one of my favorite local restaurants in the area of McLean. My sister & I were looking for a nice Italian resturant in the area. This was it. We started off wirh the Calamari Frittas...awesome. I order the Chicken Parm and my sis ordered the half Lobster special. Nice sized portions we couldn't finish it all. The ambience of rhe restaurant was nice. The staff was very attentive! The bread was amazing and service was top notch. They even brough out a piece of cake for my sister, to sing happy birthday to sing ti her. Everything from the mussels to the rockfish dish would be a 10/10 star rating, including the incredible dessert. We've been visits DC for a few days. Staying near by and driving in. Dinner tonight was a turning point for us. A delicious well made meal can make everything better and that is what we got here. The spaghetti and meatballs had a perfect sauce. The Alfredo did as well. We have no problem paying for a good meal. This was worth every penny. They have very good food that I loved. I came here with my family and we ate seafood pasta and spaghetti carbonala. First of all, we loved the seafood pasta. The spaghetti carbonala was my favorite. The texture was good and it had a perfect taste. For dessert we had ice cream. We chose 3 flavors, chocolate, vanilla, and rasberry.(I thought that the raspberry was really good) The place had well decor and had no children playing loudly ( aka yelling, screaming or etc...) which is nice! Some bad things about this place is that it was dark. It was peaceful but I think a little too dark. I would be happy if they turned on the lights just a little bit more! I went here last night for my birthday dinner. For the prices that they have, I would say that I expected fresher ingredients. We had the spaghetti carbonara, seafood linguini, lobster ravioli and gnocchi. The seafood linguini was ok, and carbonara was a bit heavy on the creme sauce. The lobster ravioli tasted frozen or packaged, and so did the gnocchi. It was all ok, nothing blew me away, but it wasn't bad. The service was very friendly though. Truly a fantastic experience all around. We ordered salads to start off with (the Caesar and Capri salads specifically) and shared two pasta dishes (the Capellini Primavera and Pappardelle Verde) amongst 3 people, which was perfect in terms of portions. The dishes were all fantastic, not too heavy and similar in taste to what we had whilst in Northern Italy. Adding crushed red pepper to it brought out the flavor even more (the sauce is truly king here!). The prices were super reasonable, the service staff patient, quick, and friendly. When the Capellini was missing a bit of garlic, they quickly tossed it back in to perfection. Will definitely be returning! read more

This is a great restaurant. The food is always fantastic (pastas are phenomenal) - cocktails really good and the service is great. One thing I really appreciate is that they are true to their posted hours. If they say they are open til 10pm and the other night we showed up with a party of 4 at 9:30 - they were so gracious and seated us no problem and didn't close the place down around us like many other places in town do... they didn't rush us out - although we were aware of timing and ate as quickly as possible Wonderful staff and cozy atmosphere. You can come here for a celebration or a quick night out with the family after sports. This is one of our favorite local restaurants... Not too expensive but a true value proposition. I had the pasta primavera - linguini with a marinara-like sauce with vegetables. One the size scale, the meal was HUGE! However, the sauce lacked a lot of flavor and the pasta was only so-so.
