I've visited this North Italia before and had another great experience. I've also been to their Reston location as well. I will say, I think I like this location a little more. This time, my fiancé and I decided to try multiple appetizers and everything was excellent. We ordered the White Truffle Garlic Bread which is what we get every time. The bread is crispy on the outside while still staying soft and not too hard throughout. The flavor is always amazing and we love the ricotta that comes on top. We also tried the Italian Meatballs. They were very good, flavorful, and comforting. Lastly, we had the Little Gem Caesar with added chicken. It was fresh, well balanced, and a great addition to the meal. read more

We dined in at North Italia for a friend's birthday. Although a really big party, our server was super attentive, and the food came out pretty quickly. We started off with the calamari the white truffle garlic bread. The calamari was absolutely delicious. I'm so used to having a lot of breading on my calamari, but the breading on this was super airy which I really enjoyed. If you're gonna get an appetizer, I highly recommend the white truffle garlic bread. The strong truffle and garlic flavor perfectly together and the bread was super soft and warm. Onto the entrées, my husband and I decided to split the squid ink pasta, lasagna, and the hot honey smoked prosciutto pizza. The portion for the lasagna was a lot smaller than I thought but honestly, I was super full by the end of it. I really enjoyed the pizza because it wasn't super oily and the flavors all worked really well together. Overall, this was a really pleasant dining experience. I would say the food was pretty solid. The roasted artichoke was fantastic. Perfectly cooked. The roasted lemon accompaniment, perfect. The mayo on the side didn't work. I also had the recommended short rib. Omg. It was perfect. The review said it would be creamy and I didn't understand that but the rice truly was perfectly creamy. And the vegetables were so good you actually wanted to eat them. And then meat, tender and perfect, seriously great. And then the garlic butter shro And that's when it stopped. I made reservation reservations and said there was a birthday. No one noticed. Not a pro not a con- our waiter seemed like she was in a rush. While she was attentive she just seemed stand offish. I had the Sunday lasagna and it was good - the sauce was a little watery but it was still good. My fave was the focaccia bread and pistachio whipped ricotta. So yummy, I didn't get a picture. Came here for a Saturday brunch with my family and we all had a lovely time. Even though I had made a reservation, the restaurant wasn't very crowded, which made for a calm and relaxed atmosphere and great for conversation. Our server was friendly and efficient, which I appreciated. One small suggestion would be to offer a separate coffee menu when guests are seated, alongside the brunch menu, since I was not really looking for alcoholic or sweeter drink options. The food was thoughtfully prepared and overall very enjoyable. I ordered the Morning Market Board, which included a frittata, salad, and hearth bread. The frittata was simple with caramelized onion but still quite flavorful. The burrata paired nicely with the grilled bread, and I especially liked the grilled asparagus in the refreshing salad. My partner had the Sunday Night Lasagna, which was rich, cheesy, and satisfying. The only minor issue was that a spoon would have been helpful for a saucy dish like that since it is a bit tricky to manage with just a fork and knife. My cappuccino was average but still enjoyable. We've been coming to North Italia for years, and unfortunately, tonight's experience with the hostess was extremely disappointing. The hostess in the black dress was rude and completely unwelcoming from the beginning, simply because we asked to sit outside instead of inside. As customers, we should not be made to feel like an inconvenience for having a seating preference. What bothered us even more was what happened afterward. When we asked to speak with her, she would not come over and instead sent another employee to speak with us. When we tried to get her attention directly, she acted as though she didn't hear us and gave us an attitude. That was incredibly unprofessional and honestly surprising for a restaurant we have been coming to for so many years. I do want to make it very clear that our server was wonderful. She was kind, attentive, and provided great service, and we truly appreciated her. Unfortunately, the experience at the host stand left a very bad impression. North Italia is a great restaurant and deserves a hostess who makes guests feel welcome, not someone who makes them feel uncomfortable for simply asking to sit outside. I really hope management addresses this, because this is not the level of hospitality we have come to expect from this location. read more

Our experience was extremely disappointing. From the time we were seated, service was consistently slow and inattentive. We had a child with us, which made the long waits even more difficult. We also noted in our reservation that it was my friend's birthday, and while we were not expecting anything elaborate, it was disappointing that there was no acknowledgment at all. We spent much of the evening looking around for our server because he appeared to be responsible for tables both inside and outside, making him difficult to find whenever we needed anything. Unfortunately, the problems continued throughout the meal. One of our pasta side dishes was prepared incorrectly. Although it was an $11 item, we chose to accept the mistake rather than wait even longer for it to be remade. Our dessert never arrived because, we were told, the sorbet had somehow been entered as a takeout order. We also experienced problems with our check, which appeared to be related to the new computer system. In addition, because service took so long, we exceeded the complimentary parking validation period and had to pay for parking ourselves--an expense we would not have incurred had the meal proceeded in a reasonably timely manner. While I understand that new systems can have unexpected issues, the lack of communication and attention from the staff made the experience frustrating from beginning to end. When we finally spoke with a manager, he asked what he could do and mentioned that he wished we had brought the issues to his attention sooner. The reality is that we tried. We couldn't find our server, we couldn't find a manager, and there never seemed to be anyone available to address our concerns while we were dining. By the time we were finally able to speak with a manager, the evening had already been overshadowed by repeated service failures. What was perhaps most disappointing was that there didn't seem to be a genuine sense of urgency or concern about what had occurred. Every restaurant can have an off night, but guests should feel that their concerns are heard and that the restaurant is committed to making things right. The delays caused us to exceed the complimentary parking validation period, resulting in an additional parking charge. The amount itself is not significant, but it illustrates how the extended wait affected our overall experience. This place was delicious! The garlic bread was so fluffy and the butter that came with it beautifully complimented the bread. The spicy vodka rigatoni pasta is to die for. The sauce is perfectly spicy with chucks of bacon. The pasta is made in-house so it is perfectly chewy and cooked to perfection. The pizza was also oven baked. The crispy crust was the best part! Enjoyed a 2026 Winter Restaurant Week lunch with a friend here this past weekend. Love how the regular and RW menu is flexible letting you swap in gf pasta or veg noodles for a few dollars. Chicken parmigiana was nice and crispy, and the carrot noodles I ended up getting as a sub actually went really well with the main because the sauce had a kick to it that balanced the sweetness of the carrots. My friend and I both started with the arugula and fennel salad, which is super crisp and light and a good portion. It's been years since dining at North Italia. Went for dinner on a Saturday in the restaurant was pretty packed both inside and outside seating. Looked like homecoming was in full swing. The best thing we ordered was probably the simple salad - the oregano dressing was delicious. Aside from that, everything else was disappointing. The calamari fritti was way over battered. They look like onion rings coming out. The arugula avocado salad was super disappointing, we can make a better version at home. We tried two pastas - cavatelli and spicy vodka rigatoni. The cavatelli was super overcooked - pasta was completely mushy. The rigatoni pasta was cooked better but still not great. Our server also wasn't attentive - we had to ask for water refills multiple times and really track her down for boxes. Bar experience: It took 7 minutes before anyone acknowledged me and I was right by the pick up for drinks to go to tables so many people saw that I was there and waiting to order, once I finally did get a menu I ordered and service was quick then. 3/5 Dinner experience: We had a reservation for 17 and the servers were exceptional. Drink and appetizer orders were taken immediately, the calamari was very flavorful, and the two boards were great for the group to share. Our waitress recommended the truffle bread and that was delicious too! Everyone's entree came out at the same time, stars were eggplant parm, seafood pasta, and the branzino. I was very impressed by the service and quality for such a large party. Our main waitress even took photos for us! To top It off the tiramisu was really rich and flavorful. This restaurant is located in the Boro development. There is some street parking available, but the garage across the street is easier to find a spot in. Our server was great throughout the meal. We tried the grilled artichoke as an appetizer which was quite good and came with a very flavorful lemon aioli. We split the chicken pesto and rigatoni vodka for entrees. This is the first time I ate at this restaurant. My go to Italian is Alta Strada in Merrifield. The pasta and salad there is absolutely delicious. But decided to try this place as I've heard rave reviews. And I was not disappointed. The restaurant is quite spacious with both outdoor and indoor seating. Being in the heart of Boro brings its own special charm to the restaurant. The server was very sweet and attentive throughout. This place does offer half size portions for salad and pasta. However, they won't do half size is we choose the vegetarian option, which is a bummer. Why they can't make half size of a pasta with no meat, surprises me. That was the only thing I didn't quite like. Here is everything we ordered: - Zucca Chips: this is so good. It's fried Zucchini in chips format. It's so good. - Ceasar Salad: we got half size of this salad but wasn't a big fan. They brought out big portion of lettuce which was hard to eat. At Alta Strada, they chop the salad and mix the dressing really well. Here it was eating a big piece of lettuce, which I didn't quite enjoy. - Spicy Vodka Rigatoni Pasta: this was quite good. Definitely spicy. So if you can't handle too much spice, just be aware. This was delicious, but the spice got to me afterwards. And they didn't provide half size for this. - Tiramisu: probably one of the best Tiramisu I've had. It's delicious. Love the small chocolate pieces that come on top of it. Definitely try it. Mom and I had a great time at lunch! We had 12:45 PM reservations on a Saturday. It was surprisingly quiet for a Saturday afternoon, most patrons were sitting outside. We sat inside with a nice view of outside. Our server, Daniel, was very accommodating, friendly, explained the menu options to us, and served us with a smile. He checked on us frequently, which was a nice touch. The food was delicious! Fresh produce, house-made pasta, and extremely flavorful. It's a bright, well decorated and well lit restaurant. Full bar! Portions are small compared to other Italian restaurants we have visited, so plan to have a few options if you are extremely hungry. There is plenty of paid parking in the area. Truly not a big deal but why did it take 45 minutes for them to communicate this with us? They just opened so of course there were kinks in the kitchen they are still working out. We went here to celebrate my wife's birthday. The food was great. We had the calamari to start. It came out hot, tender and fast. It was not over fried with a beer batter like breading that was well seasoned. My son had the margarita pizza which was great. The sauce to cheese ratio was on point and the crust was thin with a nice chew. Most importantly it was not overly charred. Even though my son is a little guy he took down half the pizza. My wife had the squid ink pasta which she absolutely loved. I had the chicken Parmesan. It comes with a side of pasta in a white sauce. I'm not a fan of Alfredo so be sure to specify if you prefer the traditional marinara for the pasta. To top it off they offered a free dessert for my wife's birthday. We had the butter cake. It was nicely done. I've had better versions of this type of cake but it's still in my top three for butter cake recipes. The service was attentive without being in your face. So I will say I enjoyed the location. Plenty of people watching on a beautiful summer evening outdoor dining with friends. That's where it all stops. I ordered the fig & prosciutto pizza, have no idea what my 2 friends ordered. Now the service...non existent, zero, zilch, nadaYou would think we didn't even dine..not one server asked how was our meals, refilled a glass of water, if we wanted another drink or stopped by to speak..AT ALL. I was told that possibly the server was switched and we weren't told...still though, no communication is crazy. We sat for 20 or more minutes even after asking our bills. Cozy decor. Food: I ordered the Braised Short Rib Marsala which consisted of short rib with beech mushroom, snap pea, heirloom carrot, and black truffle risotto. Fantastic presentation. The short rib was incredibly tender and flavorful. For dessert, we got the bombolini, a type of Italian donut. They were filled with lemon curd lying on a bed of thin blueberry sauce. I am normally not a fan of fillings in donuts (this was ordered by my dining companion) but it certainly didn't hurt to try it! Service: Excellent. Parking: We were not sure about the parking situation in this area as we have never been. We ordered a banana coffee cake and morning board to share, which included: frittata, burrata, bread, and salad. I ended up ordering the special pesto and potato pizza with a limoncello cocktail. The pizza was wonderful! A sturdy crust, just a tinge of flop. The potatoes were tender and the pesto was potent. The limoncello had a nice lemon flavor with a healthy kick. The banana coffee cake was moist and all the board components were a lovely little grazing point amongst our conversations. We were sitting there barely over an hour and what kind of restaurant takes away food while customers are still working on it.
