What a great visit we had at DeMarco for a birthday celebration! Our waitress was super chill and easygoing, which made the whole experience even better. We took our time settling in and started with the mozzarella and focaccia (so good!) and the meatball--because you can't visit an Italian place without the essentials. For our mains, we ordered the short rib ragu and the verde lasagna. The lasagna was especially memorable--you could really taste the fresh spinach, which gave it a light, refreshing flavor. To top it all off, the wonderful Mr. Flannegan came out to sing "Happy Birthday" and brought their amazing cannoli. Such a fun and memorable touch to an already fantastic meal! read more

Dined at DeMarco's Italian and had a bit of a mixed experience overall. Starting with the positives. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It was very clean, and the atmosphere is one of its strongest assets. We sat outside overlooking Fluor Field, which made for a really enjoyable setting. The outdoor patio was comfortable, and the new awnings provided great shade, making it easy to relax even in the sun. Service was excellent from start to finish. Attentive, and professional. No complaints there at all. For drinks, I ordered a carajillo, which was very well done. The food is where things started to fall short. We began with the long hot stuffed peppers. The dish only comes with two peppers, so the portion felt a bit small. The sausage itself was decent, but it was severely lacking seasoning, and the sauce didn't add much to elevate it. The verde lasagna followed a similar trend. The pasta itself was clearly good quality, but the overall dish was underwhelming and lacking depth of flavor. The scallop dish was the best of what we tried. The scallops were cooked perfectly, the asparagus was fresh, and the risotto had a good texture. Unfortunately, even here, the dish still felt like it was missing seasoning and bold flavor, which was a recurring theme throughout the meal. Given the upscale setting and prime location, expectations are understandably higher and so are the prices. That said, the portion sizes and overall flavor didn't quite justify the cost in my opinion. Finally got a chance to get into the super busy DeMarcos and quickly understood why they are literally hardest table to get in town. Because (and despite the fact) they were full, they managed to still find me a seat and my very well-trained server explained the menu, made recommendations of two items I never otherwise would have contemplated trying and treated me like I was a celebrity. The manager stopped by later to ensure I was having a good experience and then blended seemlessly into checking on someone else. And, I was even thanked for my business when I left. Top marks for the pizza! It stacks up with some of the best pizza in GVL. Excellent crust and the sausage and pepperoni worked perfectly with the vodka sauce. Sitting between Fluor Field, Greenville HS and the Shoeless Joe Jackson museum is DeMarco's Italian. i literally grew up blocks from this spot. I think I'm correct in stating that DeMarco's comes to us from the owner of other jewels like The Slice Pizza in Simpsonville and The Slice 2 in Fountain Inn. Reservations were honored promptly upon arrival. DeMarco's is immediately visually appealing upon entry. The open kitchen and bar, black opal trim and floor to ceiling windows make for a grand first expression. We were greeted by the hostess Teresa, who you'd think was a life long friend. She takes real ownership of her important role and goes above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome. While our Server had to be reminded of drink orders a couple times, she was great overall. She knew the menu well and assisted in making great entree choices. We had the Italian Salad, Marsala Pork Chop and Russian Vodka Pizza. All were great! Demarco's offered an exceptional dining experience and meal. We started with the House Made Mozzarella appetizer and a pizza. Our plan was to savor each dish and take the rest home. The mozzarella was delicious, but we couldn't resist the entire Mike & Pepe pizza. My wife opted for the king salmon special, while I chose the Pork Martini. Both entrees were expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. Our server, Jay, was an absolute delight. His engaging and informative personality made the entire experience even more enjoyable. He took the time to explain the dishes and ensured that we had everything we needed. Unlike many restaurants that rush customers, Jay allowed us to finish the mozzarella before bringing out the pizza. This thoughtful gesture made a significant difference in our dining experience. My husband and I walked in without a reservation when they first opened thinking we could snag 2 seats at the bar, definitely not. This place was packed even on a week night so we made reservations for another time. We were greeted and sat immediately, I was hoping for downstairs but we got put upstairs which I felt had less ambiance but we ended up liking being next to the window and overlooking Flour Field. Our server (I think Denise?) was excellent. We were celebrating our wedding/vacation which was in a few days and she brought us out complimentary champagne which was really nice. The food was fantastic, I honestly didn't have high hopes for a new restaurant in Greenville but this one blew us away. Highly recommend the focaccia, the meatball app, duck ragu, and blueberry cheesecake. We split everything and left completely full. They also had an impressive wine list and we ended up writing down both of the wines we tried so we could buy them later. 100% a new favorite restaurant here and will be back often. read more

Delicious new spot for Italian food by Fluor field! We went for an anniversary dinner and they gave us each a complimentary glass of sparkling wine. The service was friendly and quick and the ambience was nice - the type of atmosphere that feels a bit upscale but still laid back and could work for a nice date night or a more casual meal with friends or family. The homemade mozzarella for the table was SO good. We also split the meatball appetizer which was huge and very flavorful. The wine list was extensive. As always the service for us at DeMarco's - mostly by Lisa at the bar was fantastic. Went with Chicken Genovese and a side of spicey vodka pasta accompanied by a beautiful Montepulciano d'abruzzo wine. The chicken was cooked perfectly with a good crust on it. The gnocchi with pesto was great - a bit salty - but that's an easy fix. The texture of the spicey vodka pasta is perfect. Love the 9cm granite bar - it's classy. Fun night out. read more

We enjoyed our first meal tonight and DeMarco's is being hotly debated, in our family, as our new favorite restaurant in Greenville. We enjoy date night every Tuesday and have tried most other highly rated restaurants in the area. Again, DeMarco's left an incredible first impression. From the very cordial welcome at the door to the tasty mozzarella appetizer that we shared, to the house cocktails to the entrees and after dinner drinks, we were treated wonderfully and enjoyed every morsel and drop. I accidentally made my reservation for the wrong evening. So when we arrived, the hosts weren't able to find my name. That's fine but they kept asking me if my name was a variety of other people with reservations at different times. They also said there was only one reservation at 630. So I think it would have made more sense to just seat us instead of awkwardly asking if I'd made my reservation under random names. The spot was modern and I liked being able to see the wood fire ovens. The restaurant has 2 levels but it's very open inside. The menu looked great so it was hard to decide. I finally picked the scallops. My mom ordered the spicy vodka pasta but asked for it to be very mild. When her meal arrived, it was definitely not mild. I like spicy foods and tasted it and found it to have quite a kick. Our server had them remake it and the second version was perfect and delicious. My scallops were cooked perfectly. We were too full for dessert since we'd shared some focaccia bread before the meal but maybe next time! read more

Since we are huge fans of the slice, we have been eagerly waiting to try Demarcos. We came last night and sat at the bar. We ordered the focaccia, bruschetta, Caesar, chicken Milanese, and the lasagna verde. The staff was so friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed everything. Everything in the restaurant was beautiful, and all the details make it a fun dining experience. We will be back. I loved my husband's dish (the chicken Milanese). My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here, it was our second time visiting. They surprised us with a complimentary glass of champagne for our anniversary which was the sweetest gift ever and made our day! Our server was so kind and inquired about our relationship, which made the evening all the more special. The first time we visited, we tried their pizzas and this time we tried their pasta and meat. We got the wood fired stuffed long peppers as an appetizer and they were good and felt like a healthy alternative to their focaccia that we love so much. I got the wood fired lasagna verde which was yummy and my husband got the pork chop which was incredible! I definitely can't wait till I can come back again for their amazing pizzas and to try some of their other pastas. The interior is so well designed, half the fun is looking around! So first off it --it is closer to Augusta st (than field as street) over the tracks-'think across from Brick st Cafe at the bottom of the apartments. They found us a table ...next to.the lower left.hand side of the stairs. DO NOT SIT HERE. Conversation is nearly impossible due to the lousy acoustics on this level. And it is so tight for patrons or staff to walk by..that the person sitting on this side will be hunched forward and bumped . ( Already discussed this with an owner.) They are awaiting more patio space..(Psst-- hide the paper signs with blue tape on the door in some decorative fashion) Bar is cool , 4 Tv's and cool lit up marble area Upstairs.....per staff ..it is easier to talk and have a conversation.we did not go up. Wait staff was very good, knowledgeable and kind. Since this has only been open two weeks....management was getting opinions and feedback from many. Food...Okay to be fair...so just had a couple of drinks , appetizer and pizza. Wine was very good Yes they have big rocks for bourbon. Meatball appetizer was good.. and too be fair this might be amazing to Italian food experts. To us the cheese and sauce was fresh and amazing....meatball was large and okay. Just not worth $18 to me. Everything was top notch. It's in a great location across from the right foul pole of the ballpark in District 356. Be careful... some GPS may send you to the other side near the Shoeless Joe Jackson museum. The place is very clean and the staff is very knowledgeable. The food was awesome. If I had one knock it's the parm. They have veal and eggplant, but no chicken. Chicken is the staple parm. It's ok though... the gnocchi was hands down the best gnocchi I've had. Let me start with the good things about this place. The food here is great. I went with my husband who has a mild gluten allergy so we opted for gluten free pizza and gluten free pasta and they were both good - the server that took care of us was knowledgeable about gluten free options and they do have a separate gluten free menu. The octopus dish was yummy as well. The cocktails were good and refreshing. Now onto the things I didn't love so much - the ambiance is okay, certainly not worth the price tag. It's very hard to get a reservation here - I made a reservation a month ago for a Saturday dinner and we were seated by the window upstairs that has a lovely view of the dumpster outside. The decor here is pretty minimal with cheap tables and it's right across the baseball stadium and inside an apartment complex, probably not an ideal location for an upscale restaurant. I also felt the portions were pretty small for entree's that were almost $30 each - you will definitely need to order an appetizer and/or sides if you want to have a filling meal. I would come back since the food was good and will try to maybe get seated at a better location. read more

Went for Restaurant Week and it did its job - we will be back! The service was excellent. Moved us to another table when our old bones couldn't handle a door to the deck next to table. Star 1! We couldn't decide on a wine, so our waitress brought us two different samples and helped us find a perfect wine. Star 2! Food was fantastic, even though it was restaurant week and you don't always expect top shelf food. It was! Star 3! Service deserves another star - didn't hover but always there when we needed her. We've been waiting for this restaurant to open for a long time. We started patronizing them years ago at Gather where they were called Pasta Addict (they still use that name, as well). Unfortunately they left.... but we later found them in Simpsonville at The Slice. We are natives of NYC who retired to Greenville and have been desperate ever since for really good old Italian food. Happily we found it here! Our only disappointment is that the menu concentrates on their awesome pizza. (But we already have an excellent NYC pizza place downtown. ).
