I took my son out fishing on 06/30/17 for the 5 hour fishing trip. My son's rig broke after the first 15 minutes of fishing and they never fixed it. So he was unable to fish the rest of the trip. I asked the people in the office if I could get a partial refund and only pay for him as a boat rider. We did the Shell Island Seafari tour. Finding Capt Anderson's is incredibly easy, there's about a jillion signs to their location. They are requiring masks on their trip and you do have to fill out paperwork at check in to acknowledge that. The capt gives a short safety briefing before boarding and then when you get on, a photographer takes your pic which you can later purchase for $10. The boat is huge and there's plenty of room for seating. There's about 9 stairs that take you to the top deck where the crew brings you big buckets of Cheetos to feed the seagulls with. The ride to Shell Island takes about 15-20 mins which is filled by the Captain narrating with local facts and history tid bits. Once you get to Shell Island the crew lets you know you have an hour to explore. There is nothing on Shell Island- no vendors, bathrooms, businesses, pavillions, nothing. It's very peaceful and there's a ton of shells. I def recommend taking a net and shell bag! The hour goes by pretty fast and the crew even offers to wash the sand off your feet with a hose before you board! The rest of the time is spent watching dolphins and trying to catch critters in a net that is dragged from the bow. Whatever is caught is placed into a tank inside the boat where you can check out crabs, fish, etc. The snack bar is cash only and they do have drinks, slushies, hot dogs and snacks for a super reasonable rate. No alcohol so it's very family friendly. Our group of 5 had a fun day exploring and learning all the fun facts. We hope to go back soon! read more

Myself, my boyfriend and his brother in law took an 8 hour night tour tonight and were sorely disappointed with how our deck hand Jordan treated our situation. I caught a Bonito and immediately Jordan and one of the other deck hands acted really upset that we wanted to keep it. We had Jordan filet some of it for us to use as bait because they wouldn't allow us to do it ourselves (but they'd let us cut up the b liners ourselves?) When he brought 3 tiny strips of it back to us we asked where the rest was and he caught an attitude and asked if we wanted the whole thing with us. When we said yes he completely blew us off. I also noticed he was giving some of it to the guys next to us without asking me if it was okay. We shrugged it off and even share some with the kid on our other side. When we asked for more of the bonito for bait Jordan acted like it was a hassel. Shortly after all of this we hear him and the other two deck hands talking about how they were having the girl working the concessions inside grill some of it up for them to eat DIRECTLY BEHIND US. The night goes on and we're ATTEMPTING to fish but the men next to us had no idea what they were doing and kept getting snagged in our lines. It starts to rain and we have to drive out of it which is okay but they ended up cutting the trip short by two hours and just driving us back. FINALLY we end up getting back and they're hanging up our fish and we ask where the rest of my bonito is (we have more shark fishing to do and wanted to save some for us to eat) and Jordan tells us we used it all. We're very confused because we used MAYBE a tenth of what we could've used for bait. He then goes outside and talks to someone and comes back to let us know it was thrown off the boat when we specifically said right from the jump that we wanted to keep absolutely everything we don't throw out as bait on this trip. He said another passenger caught one and that he'd go ask if they'd be willing to give us a cut. His father then comes to talk with us about what's going on and says that he has an entire bonito on the back of the boat that we can have. We thank him and proceed off the boat and wait to collect our fish. When they call our numbers we go collect from Jordan and my boyfriend politely reminded him about the bonito and he clearly got upset about it but complied. Handed us an entire, untouched fish and huffed off without another word. It honestly would've been a lot more fun if there were a few less people fishing and we hadn't gone back two hours early. All in all, we will consider doing it again in hopes that we don't get our fish stolen from us again and have a nicer deck hand to work with. read more

We went here on a Friday evening, the last night of our week here. We were able to get sat immediately. We ordered calamari as an appetizer. It was good but not super hot. It comes with marinara and a vesuvio sauce (banana peppers). I ordered the chargrilled grouper, it comes with your choice of greek salad or house salad and a vegetable or potato. I got the Greek salad and new potatoes. The salad was amazing and frankly I was satisfied after finishing it. They bring bread with the salad, but it was not warm. The grouper was delicious but way to much for me. My daughter had the chargrilled shrimp and enjoyed it very much. They also bring hush puppies, which were delicious. The price point is high, $16.95 and up, however you do get a large salad and side dish with your entree. After dining at many other places this week this was by far the most expensive. Over all the food and service were very good. Love the history of this locally owned restaurant. I just wish it had a more family, cozy feel. read more

We booked the Saefari Shell Island Combo cruise. The boat was very nice. It had two levels with the bottom area being air conditioned and the top portion was covered to keep you out of the sun. There were lots of people on the boat but it was not crowded and there were plenty of places to see the dolphins. The captain was informative and entertaining. Shell island was beautiful, clean, and serene. read more

This has always been a PCB staple since I was little. They always have great food and I love being at the marina. I enjoy walking around and checking out the ships. No need to hurry here, there's always so much cool stuff to see while you wait. They have an awesome bar that was playing live music on Friday night when we were there. The bar has so many great selections of whiskey, I always enjoy a glass of certain one's you can't find anywhere else. The She Crab soup is top notch, and one of the best you'll find locally. I ate the African Lobster tails, and for the price, I wish I would have got something else. They were kinda small. If you order right, the menu is reasonable. We have been here several times. Sometimes it is amazing, other times, not. It can be hit or miss with the preparation of food. Time to update a few items and have staff check before they leave kitchen. Staff is always tip top, wonderful, friendly and attentive. Stuffed flounder is my favorite, however this time they were out. I ordered the stuffed grouper this time, and it was not good. Crab stuffing was raw and the fish was dry (overcooked) very small proportion. Calamari was over cooked, crumbly and the sauce served just tasted like tomato sauce. Horrible trip, misrepresented !! Wanted to go fishing while in PCB... Looked at the website, found the 6hr trip to be plenty and called to confirm my GF could be a rider and lay out while I fished. The girl said yes, she could lay out on the top deck of the boat. The ad states and shows a picture of the "Gemini Queen" with a flat top deck which looked perfect for her to lay out.. We arrive and discover, we cannot bring a small cooler with water & snacks... and the boat was not the same... Leaving my GF to a third wheel with limited opportunity to lay out .. choosing not to lay on the benches we rode in on. The top deck was not accessible. The ad states 1.5 hr to the fishing grounds, 3 hours of fishing and a 1.5hr return... However, while there was both 1.5hr trip before fishing and 1.5hr return... During the 3 hrs every 5-10 minutes we were required to reel up and ride more.... There was MAYBE an hour of fishing on a 6hr trip... Also, while fishing... even when I was able to get a fish past the dolphins that followed us everywhere and up to the boat, it was rejected even tho it was large enough to eat... Ok, we are tight lining on the bottom getting nibbles and snatching the fish up and reeling it 100-150 feet up quickly... We damaged the fish's bladder and ability to swim after throwing back in the water for an easy snack for the dolphins... SOOO, why are we required to throw back an injured fish and not take it home to eat??? Again, the trip was very misrepresented and I felt I did more riding/sight seeing in the 3 hours I was suppose to be fishing.... I've gone out with them a few time before, it varies from great to good fishing. But this time, their generator when out and we didn't even a nibble from that point forward. So we spent the remaining 3.5 of 6 hours driving and wasting time. I fish pretty regularly and only ended with 2 fish while other people ended up with nothing. Wow. What a rip off. I did the 6 hour tour and it was literally terrible. This is the worst party/walk on boat I've ever been on. First off, we weren't deep sea fishing, we were bottom fishing, I could see cars on the shoreline! Online it says were suppose to be 6-7 miles offshore, we def weren't! With about 35 people onboard we managed to catch 6 tiny snappers, some were illegal (to small to keep). I caught 10 ladyfish, which are trash fish! I caught a total of 4 pounds of fish, 4 terrible pounds... I've caught bigger fish out of a lake near me! Much less the gulf, what a joke!!!! Then, I asked one of the crew helpers why we're keeping those ladyfish (all other boats just throw them back) and he said he just does what he's told. He basically agreed with me, he's just doing what management directed him to do! Avoid this boat there are better tours out there, I wish I had spent more time on the beach cause this was a total waste of money and time. We took a 6 hour fishing trip yesterday (10-17-16) with Captain Anderson's deep sea fishing boat. The problem we encountered was that it took 1.5 hours to get to a location we could fish at and then another 1.5 hours to get back. So there's 3 hours of the trip gone right there. Secondly, the captain kept having us pull up our bait and lines not minutes after dropping them in the water. I maybe got 1.5 hours of fishing in with all the moving around he did. I paid $60 for myself to fish and $120 for my two friends to fish as well. All together we caught 5 fish, 2 of which we had to throw back because they were out of season. The reason I didn't give this establishment only 1 star is because of their deck hands. Troy was our deck hand and he was phenomenal. Any tangle in the lines and he was over our shoulder assisting before we even had time to call him. Any catch and he was on it like a ninja to ensure it didn't get away. He was very encouraging and he tried so hard to make this trip awesome since he knew it was a trip we were taking for my 30th birthday but aside from him, the trip was incredibly disappointing. I was told by another local today that big ships like that take you too far out and avoid local favorite spots where the catches are huge. We will certainly charter a boat next time instead of going out with them again. If we could just steal Troy and take him with us!! read more

My husband and I contacted Yonnie at captain andersons to accomodate a party of 60 for our wedding reception and our experience was beyond belief.Yonnie told me to worry about the wedding details he would make sure this part would be handeled with ease. He was spot on with his promise. We were able to arrive and drop off the cakes and set up decorations way before the restraunt opened and we were treated like family! I went out on the 10 hour trip today 6/12/2019. I have been out on this trip many times but this will be my last. I have complained many times about smoking on the Captain Anderson boats, but obviously they don't care. Most of the deck hands smoke and have cigarettes in their lips while untangling your lines or taking fish off. Many of the patrons are smoking next to you as well. Very annoying to be on a boat around smokers for 10 hours. There are no non smoking areas or no signs about not smoking. The worst part is seeing all the non biodegradable cigarette butts being thrown into the water for the fish, birds and turtles to ingest. This is vary sad from a company that makes their living from the environment. I made a comment to a deck hand about flicking his cigarette butt into the water and the response was "it's a big ocean". There are no receptacles for cigarette debris anywhere on the vessel. If you like second hand smoke and spending half your trip untangling your line and don't care about the environment, then this trip is for you, if not, go on another charter. read more

The crew was very good and the captain did a good job of getting us on the fish. But too many people on a boat is still just that. Lots of tangles and some other customers that were rude kinda ruins the fun. If you can afford it I'd take a private charter....I wish I would have. It was about $200 for my 3 person party to fish this way and about $750 for the private charter, next time I'll spend the $750. read more

Captain Anderson's Marina runs the best party boats in Northern Florida. I have been out over 30 times over the years, alone and with children, and no other boats can come close to the service for the price that is charged. Others complain that they had a terrible experience, but why? Was the weather bad? Did they forget to take Dramamine? Did they choose the wrong trip for the experience they wished to get? If you want to take the family on a boat ride and pull in a few fish, then a 5 hour trip is suitable. You will see the flying fish and maybe a sea turtle and some dolphins, and it will not take all day if you decide the ocean is not for you. If you wish for a chance at a more serious stringer of fish, then take your Dramamine before bed and 30 minutes before your trip and get on the 10 or 12 hour boat. They are very well organized and will work to get you to a hot spot. read more

Great trip! We brought home 19 fish and only cost us $5 to get them all processed. We were catching fish almost as soon as the bait hit the bottom. Yes-it did take a little while to get to the fishing spot but the best thing to do is book an extra hour for that. My 14 year old son and his friend had a great time. First, I am an experienced fisherman fishing for years on inland lakes and on charter boats. I used Captain Anderson for the last 3 years. This review is for 3 years experience. All fishing trips were the 8 hour night trip. The first year was good. I have no complaints. We caught a lot of fish and had a good time. I couldn't have asked for a better night fishing. As a result, that trip made us come back for a second year. Last year we had a lot of issues with their fishing equipment during our trip. It was old, worn out, and not well kept. The drag didn't work very well that caused me to miss a few fish but we still caught enough to be OK with the trip. The guy beside me showed me his reel was held onto the rod with zip ties if that gives you an idea of the equipment. I felt the Captain did not stay in a place very long. We would start catching fish and the boat would drift off the fishing area so we would reel in and move on. Feeling that the second year was not what we experienced the first year we decided to give them another try this year. However, we were extremely disappointed this year. This year's equipment was not much better this time. I had knots in my line as I let it out that caused the line to catch multiple times. This was not a backlash, this was actual knots in the line from previous backlashes that were never repaired. I had to call the deck hand over to get it out on more than one occasion. They never changed the rod and reel. He did finally half way through the trip spool off about 50 feet of line, cut it and rigged me back up for fishing. Why he didn't do that in the first place I have no idea. He could have also just given me another rod and reel and been done with it but he didn't. Additionally, we had a guy who was just drunk and two kids who fired up marijuana on board. Between those 3 letting their line get caught on half our side of the boat, I spent more time getting them untangled than I did fishing. I ended up quitting fishing with about an hour to left. There was no enforcement from the Captain or crew to remove them from fishing. In the Captain's defense, the crew probably didn't tell him about it. Those three being drunk, high and stupid left a lot of people on my side of the boat not happy. The fishing was not very good. I realize it is called fishing and not catching but no one in the 8 hour night trip caught many. There is no guarantee you will catch fish. I get it. A deck hand said the fishing has been terrible since Hurricane Michael. Additionally, I witnessed one of the deck hands take a large empty box and just toss the empty box over board. Not cool! I will look for a different charter my next trip. read more

This was a decent, typical fishing charter. The five-hour charter consisted of a 1.25 to 1.5 hour boat ride to and from the fishing site and then 2-2.5 hours of actual fishing. The boat was clean and had everything you need on a fishing boat. The deck hands were helpful and courteous. The captain of the boat we were on was good about trying different spots until he found one where the fish were biting. Although it was a large boat, the waves did get rough and knocked us around pretty good. If you tend to get sea sick, you will probably get sick as hell out here. But that doesn't mean the rest of you will be good. I've never been sea sick before but spent a good chunk of time in the cabin with my head down. Don't let that deter you, just be advised to take medication prior to setting sail. In all, I would recommend going on this charter if you are in the mood for some off-shore fishing. read more
