The she crab soup was good. Parmesan oysters were delicious and hot. Had Shrimp and Grits (not thick or 'gritty' one night, the next night had Grilled Shrimp which was good too. Gdaughter had Surf & Turf with popcorn shrimp, but they were larger than popcorn. Crème Brûlée was good both nights!

There were four in our party and we had heard that the restaurant was quite an "experience." Indeed it is. Our server Iesha was very attentive and considerate--keeping me away from anything with onions in it. I ordered a shareable appetizer--calamari, which had both marinara and a "volcanic" sauces with it. I thought the calamari was a bit overcooked but the sauces were tasty. There were very large cheesy rolls and they were delicious. I got bay scallops, my daughter ordered ceviche, and our dining partners ordered shrimp platters. My daughter also ordered a coffee-flavored cocktail, which was delicious. All of us enjoyed our meals. There's a gift store with beautiful glasswork and jewelry, and other gifts, and a pastry shop! Lots of marine/fishing decor!! A very enjoyable "experience"!

I cannot say enough good things about Anderson's! Sat right away in this HUGE restaurant. There was so much to see and it was a cool ambiance!! Jeedo was our waiter and he was knowledgeable about the menu and we started with the crab soup and a Greek salad. Both were exceptionally great!!! I got the mahi mahi while my husband got the scamp. We got the baked potato and they bring hushpuppies! All of it was EXCELLENT!!! Kudos to the chef! It was so good and well worth the price! Our waiter was attentive and kept our drinks filled! Highly recommend!! Thanks Jeedo for a great experience!!

I had a nice family dinner at Captain Anderson's this week. I'm local -- I've been coming to Captain Anderson's for at least 10 years. We always come back because the food is pretty good. It is what you would expect from an upscale seafood restaurant in Panama City Beach. We were a bit surprised (and I seemed to have forgotten about) the plethora of surcharges they added to their menu. Changing sides was a surcharge. The advertised prices were cash-only.... credit card use was a 3.5% surcharge. Sharing food was a $3 surcharge. It really minimized our experience.

The wait was very long but the experience was worth it. Dining room is beautiful with great views of the boats in the marina. Our sever Ashley S was wonderful. Food was good, but not the best seafood I've had in the area in the area. Complimentary bread was very delicious- hard coat on the outside and soft on the inside. Calamari was good, not too crispy. Grouper imperial was tasty, as well as the jumbo shrimp. I enjoyed our experience!

This is still one of my favorite restaurants to go to in PCB. I've been coming here since 2015, and eat here every time we come down. You will have to wait a little bit because they don't take reservations; however, they move pretty fast. We had about a 15 minute wait on our most recent trip. Their bread service is really good. They give you a basket of fresh warm fluffy rolls. I ordered the grouper imperial, which is my normal go to. I upgraded my soup to the she crab soup. I was too full for dessert this time, but we didn't leave disappointed. They also bring out a heaping plate of hush puppies with every meal for the table.

I recommend upgrading to the wedge salad with ranch dressing. Nothing "special" but delicious!

This was the most bland food I've ever had. Couldn't wait to go back to Texas and eat some real seafood!

Ask the Community - Capt. Anderson's Restaurant

How is the lobster and what size?

I know I'm a little late, but the lobster is sizable, but not too much to finish in one sitting. I didn't have any leftovers, personally.

It's now "2023.. have they started taking reservations?

No. They likely never will since it's been over 40 years.

Do they have call ahead seating?

No not that i know of. Get there when the doors first open and you should get in there pretty quickly. Just make sure your whole party is together before walking up to the hostess or the will make you wait till everyone is together.

    Do they take reservations?!

They do not take reservations, it's first-come, first-serve

Will they fry Mahi Mahi if I ask or does it only come charcoal broiled?

    They will fry anthing

We ate outside on the deck. Started with cup shrimp etoufee - scoop of piping hot white rice covered with a nice New Orleans sauce. Shrimp were plentiful and tender. I could have eaten a pail of it. Maybe some other day. We wanted to try a couple of sandwiches knowing that we would taking some leftovers home for dinner.. Started with the shrimp poor boy - the small one, cut in half. It was loaded with lightly battered shrimp, lettuce and tomato on a superb crusty bun. Sandwich looked good and tasted even better. It wasn't inexpensive but it had great value for the money. We also tried the mufalata sandwich. Again, the small one. It was a monster. Cut in 4, it still was huge. Seasoned ham sliced super thin with cheese on a fantastic crusty roll. There might have been a couple of other meats on the sandwich. It was too good to dissect for details. The olive dressing was excellent, I would have liked more of it on the sandwich. This sandwich was again very pricey, but had good value. Our food was brought to us by a friendly young man who was very good at sharing the details of the menu. Sadly, we didn't try the beignets.. Super dooper highly recommend without any reservations. Would eat there weekly if we lived in the area. Need to try the gumbo and jambalaya.

It was good with plenty of quality ham and olive tapenade. However, it lacked Mortadella and the proper Emmental-provolone cheese blend, feeling more like a ham and cheese sandwich with a little salami, than the cohesive, harmonious Muffulettas from NOLA. It was solid but not the same. Next time I think I'll give one of the Po-boys sandwiches a try.
