The activities entertained my kids, allowing me to listen and ask questions about information regarding the educational programs Vine Education offers. Monica, the Education Director, explained the class schedules and pricing for the math and English programs I was interested in and made a recommendation for each of my three kids' educational needs. She even told me about the sibling discount for enrolling all three of them. I can tell she is passionate about education and wants to help all her students achieve their educational goals. It has been a bit of a learning curve for our son as far as listening and following directions from…read morean early age. I am not boasting but he had about 20 words at 16mos, so we had very high hopes for his future schooling, but can have an aggressive streak and is head strong. Way smarter than I was at his age, but I digress. He went for a summer program at 2 and then started the fall to summer program turning to 3 yrs when covid hit. Being away from his school really affected him I think as tantrums multiplied. He was starting to progress finally and the nature and play based program they have is incredible for kids so missing that friendship time was something he didn't comprehend. His teachers Miss Marta and Miss Libby went above and beyond to do video "circle time" with the kids during the heart of the pandemic. Now that safety measures have been instituted and the school has reopened we have noticed a marked improvement in his expression and behaviour. Let's face it, it can be hard to have the structure at home for learning especially when you have an even younger one to boot. It is an incredibly welcome relief to have such a great place to watch over and teach our children. I had meant to post this last September but forgot and since then the school and community has been through a lot! We are so thankful the school survived the fires and the surrounding community came together to help each other during these crises. We had to pull our son out of school because of financial hardships, which happened to coincide with the fires and raging pandemic, but hope to have him back to see his friends soon.

The main two teachers, Chichi and Delsy, treat the children with great care and kindness. Next, the lessons and activities they have are engaging. There's singing and dancing. There's motor skill development. They work on presentation, writing, and more. My daughter is nearly potty trained at 2 years and 3 months old, just under 3 months at the school. There's the group, Soccer Shots, that come to the school as well as an extracurricular. The facility is spacious and clean. It caters to the students with. The outdoor play area is well covered with canopies. The equipment does not look rundown. It doesn't have all the bells and whistles that some schools do, but it has all it needs and then some. Lastly, the communication is frequent throughout the day. Unlike some other school where it drops off after the first week, we get consistent updates with photos and videos. It provides reassurance that she's having a lot of fun at school. I moved my daughter here when she turned two, and we don't look back. She actually asks for her teachers constantly at home. She's excited to go in.

And that's exactly what we found. The teachers and staff are incredibly kind, attentive, and easy to communicate with, and we always feel our kids are in good hands. The school is very well-run, and the parent app keeps us updated with daily photos, nap times, potty info, and any incidents. It gives us great peace of mind to know what's going on throughout the day. The indoor and outdoor play spaces give the kids plenty of room to explore, and the environment is full of joy and creativity. We're especially impressed with the fun, thoughtful curriculum. The kids practice drawing and writing in playful ways and get to be little scientists with hands-on, imaginative activities. They've brought home the most creative projects, and the school goes above and beyond with family events like art and dance shows, and celebrations for Mother's Day, Father's Day, and other holidays. While some staff turnover happens due to 1-year contracts, our kids have adjusted well, and there are always multiple teachers in the classroom to provide continuity and support. Though learning Chinese wasn't our top priority, it's been a neat bonus to see our kids pick up songs and understand basic directions in Mandarin. More than anything, we're grateful for the kindness, safety, and joy NiHao brings into their lives.

I've seen firsthand how much my son has grown academically. He has an IEP, and Mrs. Langenwalter has been an amazing support as well. Together they make a fantastic team focused on helping each student succeed. My son also has food allergies, and the staff is always very attentive. They call me to verify if he can have certain snacks and make sure he can participate safely. As a parent, I really appreciate that level of care. My daughter is now 7 but this nightmare place still lives rent free in my mind. They treated us unfairly and the owner Cynthia projected a lot of her insecurities on us adults. At the end they would not return my money and stole it from me. They suggested my daughter had a learning disability and it ended up being just a speech delay. Imagine hiring a whole bunch of college graduates and not being able to distinguish the difference.

I visited many schools for my 4 yr old, and I was becoming so discouraged. I cried when Lorraine started sharing because I knew that my son would experience emotional safety here, that he would be seen and respected as a unique person, and that he would be given developmentally appropriate opportunities to express agency. I immediately knew that his creativity would flourish here, and I was right. Lorraine told me about how children's feeling are fully accepted; tears are permitted, not shamed. Not coincidentally, emotional validation paired with clear boundaries creates a safe environment, which in turn creates space for uninhibited joy. In the other schools I visited, the children were eerily silent. When I came to Discovery, I heard laughter and I saw kids being kids-- free, creative, silly, working together and joking with one of the teachers. It was gorgeous. Discovery Gardens is a true Reggio-Emilia experience. This is exactly what progressive education should look like, and my only disappointment is that the school doesn't have classes for kids past age 6. The director, Cynthia Greenspan, is a wellspring of creativity and knowledge about child development. Her passion and intentionality are evident in every inch of the beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces. She understands what children need to thrive, and her teachers are well educated and attuned; I truly believe that everyone who works here wants to be here. My son's interests have been followed as he's been given freedom in this rich environment, which is exactly how learning ought to take place. He's come back home talking about grubs and invasive species, plants, and space. He's been given responsibility and opportunities to express leadership. I am so thankful for the way Cynthia is running this school, giving children the opportunity to learn through play and experience. The community she has formed here is absolutely beautiful, and I am so thankful that I can have this level of trust in the holistic care that my son is receiving.
