All good things! 1. Appearance of the Venue This spot has a really cool, old-school ice cream parlor vibe. It feels traditional, welcoming and exactly what you want a neighborhood ice cream shop. 2. Service The service here was great and very friendly. We were traveling in a large group, and the staff was able to accommodate all of us in a very timely manner. Which we really appreciated since we were on our way to a destination and had other family members meeting us at the metro station. Thanks to their quick service, we didn't keep anyone waiting. 3. The Ice Cream As a Wisconsinite, I am a bit of an ice cream and custard snob being from the dairy state! While it doesn't quite match up to Wisconsin's Custard (IYKYK), I will say it was good ice cream and definitely tasted better than some I've had in other states. This made the spontaneous stop worth it. They offer several fantastic flavors of hand dipped ice cream. I ordered the salted caramel in a cake cone. The ice cream was really good. It was rich and flavorful. Not too salty either. It is wonderful to find a great local spot while traveling as I always love supporting small businesses. Here you go asking me again, will I return? The asked us to come over offered samples and we're the most welcoming employees I have seen in the DC area. In a town full of horrible service these two employees stand out above their peers! All the flavors of ice cream were great and believe it or not I went with the vanilla and it was one of the top I have had. I don't know how they mixed real, delicious chunks of baklava in the honey ice cream without it getting soggy or mushy, but they did and it was amazing! A friend got their dark chocolate and it might be the best chocolate ice cream I've ever had- I'm look at you Ben and Jerry! It just didn't give that signature flavor. Since they are located at the same counter as the sushi restaurant, it doesn't really feel like a gelato or ice cream shop but that isn't a dealbreaker. It is easy to contact them and place the order, they have a website where you can place the order and also if you need a design on top which I wanted you have to text it to the owner. My daughter is obsessed with anime, and this birthday was going to be a Kawaii birthday. First point, contacting them is difficult so you have to be persistent. Second point they have a very limited range of flavors. They have a basic cake with different fillings. I ended up selecting a basic vanilla cake, which is their birthday cake with strawberry filling. If you want a elaborate cake with fondant or designs like that, this is not your bakery. In my family, we hate fondant and we love whipped cream that is not too sweet. The cake was gorgeous, I did have a hard time explaining the design I want so I do not blame the method. Design was not actually exactly what I ordered, but it was definitely close enough. Everyone loved the cake, the sponge is light, fluffy, delicious very much vanilla and the strawberries were perfectly fresh. For having decided not to bake my own cake on Thursday I would say that I got a really good deal on this . This is a neighborhood, Bakery, and if you were in the area, I highly recommend .
