Amazing lunch on our way home from Key West! Very casual atmosphere. Conch fritters were terrific- the cocktail sauce freshly made made them the best I've had. The fried shrimp, calamari and Mahi Mahi were perfect- light and crunchy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside. Stone crab meat chowder was hearty and tasty. I had been craving a good fish taco for days and this place delivered above and beyond. The pico de gallo was so fresh and I could taste they used key lime for the dressing. Got the the roasted oregano cauliflower as a side as per the suggestion of our waiter. -Fiancé had the pick two fry basket with fried shrimp and calamari. When I say shrimp I mean they put in huge jumbo prongs in that basket! Not even in NJ they give you shrimp that size in a basket. Could definitely tell they serve quality seafood. The menu offered varieties of catches of the day etc. Gotta say it again, Seafood gem! Must stop if you're cruising by the keys! -Our server was amazing as well might I add, he made great suggestions on what to pair the dish with and suggested the cauliflower seasoned with oregano and sea salt which sounds simple but it was light and tasty which is just what I wanted. We found this place during our poorly planned trip to Key Largo for the day. Upon entering the restaurant looked very clean and friendly. We were seated as soon as we got there. Our waitress seemed to be having a bad day, but her service was ok. She seemed offended when we asked for boxes, but someone in our party didn't want to take home her food. The calamari was the best thing that we had there. It tasted almost as good as our favorite restaurant back in our hometown. However, our meals were subpar. Nothing too special, but it wasn't horrible either. When I went to the bathroom, the toilet was a complete mess. It was a unisex restroom so anyone could use it. Toilet paper was all over the toilet and it looked like someone missed half the time. I'd come here again for the calamari, but I think we'll try somewhere else for seafood next time. read more

What a little gem this place is. Doesn't look like much from outside but is nice and clean inside. All our meals were deelish! Our friends had the potato encrusted yellowtail and the grilled grouper. My husband had the fried shrimp and I had the shrimp scampi with linguine which was most excellent. We all had the key lime pie, homemade by the way. My only complaint I have is my app. I had the calimari which was pretty greasy. It didn't seem like it got to drain very much so there was quite a bit of grease on the plate. We will definitely go back again next time we're in town! read more

This is our favorite restaurant every time we go to the keys is a restaurant that we need to stop by and eat before coming back home. I have the most beautiful memories there with my better half. A simple restaurant with friendly staff and fair food. The ambiance is nice and simple. Food was ok and not expensive like some of the places in the keys. My husband and I both ordered soup to start. He had lobster bisque which he loved and I did not care for. I found it had some strong spice that took the taste of lobster away. I had a conch chowder which tasted good but it wasn't my favorite only because I don't care for anything creamy and this was not a tomato base chowder. I ordered the fish tacos and upgraded the fish to grouper. It was very tasty and portion was good. My husband had the seared tuna appetizer. It tasted bland and defrosted. I was in search of a location that I could get a lighter dinner but still enjoy some food that was worthy of being in the Florida Keys. I decided to come to Captain Craig's because of the Stone Crab Chowder. The Stone Crab Chowder was delicious. It was well balanced with vegetables and pieces of stone crab throughout the soup. The broth was dairy based, and thankfully was to thick of rich. This allowed it to support all the goodies in the soup, instead of trying to steal the show. To go along with the soup, I also order the Summer Graprefruit Salad to go with my soup. The grapefruit was fresh, juicy and tart and the salad dressing balanced it out with sweetness. The sliced avocado and candied walnuts made the salad come alive with textures to accompany the great taste. The atmosphere at Captain Craig's is casual but the service was top notch. They are able to accommodate large family groups as well as the individual dinner. I enjoyed my meal and enjoyed the craftsmanship that went into making these two dishes. read more

I was craving a whole fried snapper and this hit the spot! It came with sweet thai chili sauce but it needs nothing but a fork and a hungry belly. The fish was soooo yummy. We also got the calamari which came with the thai chili sauce. I enjoy the change up from the traditional marinara or aoli. It was damn tasty. Beef and chorizo sliders, and the fried mahi snd shrimp basket were great! The shrimps were huge! Service was great and tables all social distanced apart. Super cute islandy decor inside. So I almost drove away there was no one in the parking lot and once inside no one inside either. I tend to believe if the parking lot is empty there is a reason . The table was sticky, not sure why this was. The menus stuck to the table. The conch came out glistening in oil. Not the best I've tasted. The shrimp didn't have any taste to it(no I don't have covid) the whole plate was way to greasy. The coke slaw was ok. The sandwich well it's a sandwich can't go wrong with that. Would definitely not recommend this stop as there are so many restaurants in the area one has to be good. I will give the tea a 4 stars as it was nice and was not to strong or too light. I can honestly say that every plate we had in our party of nine was extremely fresh and delicious. The grouper and shrimp were amazing over pasta. The hogfish over rice was buttery but still panko crunchy! The tuna app was fresh and their wasabi was top notch! The ambiance is so much better than the former Craig's (and they still serve the iconic sandwich). Drinks were on point as well as service. This was some of the best food I've ever had! We were too busy eating to take any photos. The smoked fish dip appetizer was the best fish dip out of many restaurants we've tried. So flavorful! And served with tasty crackers, diced red onion, diced tomatoes, and jalapeño slices. Yum! My dad and I both got the Summer Grapefruit Salad and added grilled shrimp. We were amazed at the size of the shrimp, and they were grilled to perfection. I don't know what seasoning they used, but my dad and I both agreed that was the best shrimp we've ever had. Do yourself a favor and add grilled shrimp to whichever salad you choose! My husband ordered the fish (mahi) sandwich. It looked fairly simple - fried fish, tartar sauce, cheese, and tomato on wheat bread. But that blend of ingredients made for a fabulous sandwich! The sweet tea was also great! Cook your catch to expensive We had 1.2 pounds and they charged us for 3 dinners. Their limit was 8 ounces . Other cook your catch places would only have charged for 2 dinners with a 16 ounce limit. . Place is to expensive , skimpy menu,over priced . Their Famous Fish Sandwich is way over rated. We live in the Keys and have gone there a number of times over the years . Since it changed hands it's not the same anymore. It's a tourist trap in my opinion . read more
