There is also street parking if the lot is full. The shop itself is very small! Can probably only fit a couple customers in there at a time. I enjoyed ice cream at this location. I know when the weather is warm its probably a busy place. I enjoyed overlooking the bay and viewing the wildlife right across the street from the location. We showed up 10 minutes before the posted 4pm closing time and were immediately met with "no, we are closed, folks" it's wild to turn away business before your posted closing time. Every year we come to Bodega Bay and always a highlight is making the trek in the morning to Captain Davey's for craft coffee Captain Davey is a character and fun to talk to. He sources excellent local pastries that are fantastic. He'll make any coffee drink how you want it. This small cafe also has outstanding ice cream. So it's not rare we're back later in the day. OR even better, affogato (ice cream and coffee drink). When Cap Davey finally decides to call it a day, this place just won't be the same. He is a big part of Bodega Bay. A local legend if you will. After a warm day at the beach with my grandchildren, having ice cream was a perfect ending to our day. Thankfully, Captain Davey's was close by. Although it was busy, the line moved quickly. The portions are quite large which delighted my grandkids. I had the espresso blast which was delicious. The man serving was friendly and efficient. Well, updating my review sadly. Last year this guy and his little coffee and ice cream shop were part of our vacation and I remembered him and his shop fondly. However, on our way down Hwy 1 driving back home from a beautiful vacation we decided we stop here for some ice cream. There was a line so I waited. Once to the front I ordered 2 shakes and a cone. This was a bigger/harder order than he felt like making and he let me know! Now had my hubby not been in the car set on ice cream and had I not been vacation nothing really matters vibing I would have told him to have the day he deserves and left, but instead I listened to him whine like a little girl and even tipped him really well. Because you know he isn't gonna screw with my mood. Our shakes were delicious. Now I am home and my thoughts are.. any coffee/ice cream shop especially a coastal vacation destination shop is defined in my mind by the vibe- the way you feel while you're there. I haven't been here in years...and this time I've brought my kids! A very nice & patient man helped us with our ice cream order. Went to Captain Davey's twice last week and loved it. Tiny little place with outdoor seating overlooking the Bay. Great, creamy ice cream with an excellent selection of flavors. Also, fresh baked good that were terrific. Captain Davey was very welcoming! On our second visit a charming young woman served us with a big smile and wit to match. I have been going to this little hole in the wall coffee shop for many years up till I moved across country in August 2022 . Although I was just back visiting my Grandmother on 3/5/24 for the first time in 18 months . So I had to stop in and I was glad I did , The local Chai is still as good as I remembered . Tucked away at at Bodega Bay, this is a small gem to find. The ice cream is great, even if it is blowing a Gail and cold as heck. But you can counter that with a hot beverage as well. Stopped by here before we hit the road back home from our weekend getaway trip to bodega bay. The shop is cozy and cute fitting about 3 people max in this little expresso coffee/ice cream shop. There were about a dozen different ice cream flavors; I got a scoop of their maple nut ice cream and cookies and cream and my boyfriend got butter pecan and cookies and cream. Our ice cream was so creamy and sweet. We enjoyed our ice cream in the parking lot with the gorgeous view of the waterfront right across from the shop. Visited this shop twice on a recent visit, bright and early for a coffee fix while waiting for others in my family to rise and shine. Didn't get a chance to try their ice cream but the coffee was really yummy. I'm a Starbucks fiend so I was a little underwhelmed by the choices on the menu. im used to a million options that sbux offers. I'm sure they have the ability to be creative if you ask, but I stuck with iced coffees and white mochas. So good. Maybe next time I'll see what else they can do because there's a ton of flavored syrups in the back just no mention of them on the menu that I saw. Didn't have a pastry myself but I did purchase muffins and danishes for family. The muffins were cold and I explained she pulled them out of the ice cream freezer and that was probably why. The next time they were covered in ice and she offered to warm them up. Mom and sister loved them that way so make sure to get it warmed! I noticed similar looking bear claws at the local grocery store. Curious if a local baker supplies to all the cafes in the area or something. Most of all I love that it's a dog friendly area.
