2 Fish, 6 Shrimp, Fries, Okra, and Hush Puppies - all fresh and crispy

5 Stars for this Captain D's location. It was my first time dining at a Captain D's. I was in Deland and wanted to grab something quick so I could get back to Orlando. The staff was awesome, very patient with me as I asked about the different combos and what came in them. I ordered the 2 fish and 6 shrimp meal and added a piece of catfish and it came to just over 10 bucks with tax. Great deal in my book. I sat in the sparkling clean dining room and waited for my meal. She brought me the food on a non-disposable plate and it was all piping hot and crispy. Was happy I could dine inside! The fish was battered nicely and was so crispy crunchy delicious. Dipped in the malt vinegar, it took me back to my younger days at the other seafood fast food joint. The shrimp weren't overly breaded and were a nice addition to the meal. The fries were fresh as was the fried okra as a premium side. The hush puppies were indeed hush puppies (I never liked them and still don't) so people usually love eating at these places with me as they get my hush puppies. The catfish was a nice thick piece of fish with a different batter than the fish. I did like how everything was not in the same batter. Some fried platters have everything tasting the same. Both the manager and cashier asked me how I liked everything and on my way out, the cook was there too and I thanked all of them for a great meal. They were all so friendly. That goes a long way in my book!

Good quick fish sandwiches! The portion was a good size for the price and was very tasty! Not too spicy like I was expecting but still a delicious fish sandwich that was not lacking flavor!

Southern style white fish with green beans and cole slaw

This was my very first time eating at a Captain D's. Hard to believe, I know. I've always been a strong believer that seafood shouldn't be eaten at fast food joints. However, the captain of the D's has changed my mind! The one and only thing that was impressive about this place was the fish. I had the southern fried white fish and despite my fears, it wasn't fishy at all, and probably more importantly, no bones! I just couldn't get enough of it. This location lost a star due to their sides. I had the green beans and the cole slaw, both of which I didn't like. The cole slaw was entirely too sweet and the green beans were bitter and tasted old. Overall, not too bad! I think next time, I'll just order the fish.

Since there aren't any Captain D's anywhere near me in Orlando, we stop here every time we're headed north. The service is great, the food is very good, and the price is very friendly. This place is several cuts above your usual fast food joint in many ways. Any comparison to the other fried fish chain will make the other one look bad, so I won't go there. You should go here if you crave some quick, inexpensive fried white fish. They have shrimp and chicken too, but fish is what they're about. The place is clean, and its easy to get in and out. D's serves COKE, not Pepsi, another plus in my book. Check out their website for specials and coupons and sign up for a free meal on your birthday!

This place was absolutely beautiful. I attended an event during their bottomless brunch and the…read morespace alone had me in awe. The ambiance was inviting, stylish, and felt like the perfect setting for a weekend experience with friends. The food overall was good. The shrimp and grits were definitely the highlight for me full of flavor and well done. The steak, however, wasn't my favorite and didn't quite hit the mark. The fruit bowl was exactly that fruit in a bowl nothing special but fresh. The banana pudding was delicious and a sweet way to end the meal. The service was a bit inconsistent, which I believe was due to the waitress being very busy. There were a few moments where we waited longer than expected for menus, straws, or even water. While noticeable, it didn't completely take away from the experience and felt more like a staffing issue than a lack of care. Overall, I would absolutely return for brunch with friends. The atmosphere alone makes it worth another visit, and with the right company, it's a great spot to enjoy a relaxed and beautiful brunch experience.

For appetizers, we tried the coconut shrimp, Table tots, spinach dip, and charcuterie. Everything was fantastic except the shrimp, which were a bit overcooked. The rest of the starters were flavorful and well prepared. Most of our group ordered the NY strip since they were out of the filet, while others chose the meatloaf, mushroom pasta, and a few other dishes. Portions were generous and the food was tasty. While the strip wasn't the best I've had, it was cooked perfectly. Dessert was a bit hit or miss. We tried all the pies -- most were decent and nicely presented, though nothing stood out. The salted caramel cheesecake had a grainy texture rather than being smooth. Service was friendly, but a little rushed. Courses came out too quickly, making it hard to enjoy each one before the next arrived. The table became crowded with plates, and the pace felt chaotic at times. The server was kind and seemed possibly overwhelmed. Overall, a good meal with solid food, but pacing and a few execution details could use some attention.

My fiancé and I have been regulars at the Salted Goat for over a year and we cannot recommend this…read moreplace enough! We come here minimum once a week. The food, the service and the quality here is top tier so I'm here to break them down for you. THE FOOD I love knowing we support a local family owned business and also the local farms they buy from. For the quality and care put into the menu, the prices are absolutely more than reasonable. The menu also changes so there are always new things to try including yummy desserts! We've had quite a lot on the menu and a few of our favorites include: the brisket smash burger, the build your own chicken/burger, the Tuscan piggy pasta, onion bahji, the steak bruschetta flatbread, the caprese, chicken and waffles, the third best breakfast sandwich (yes that's the name), the sweet crepes, the Argentinian reds and probably more I can't think of right now. THE SERVICE Everyone here is amazing. I think everyone has waited on us at least once and we always have a wonderful experience. We typically are waited on by Mandi - shout out to her for always being so lovely and accommodating! One time for my graduation, they allowed my fiancé to come in the day prior to set up balloons as a surprise for our table when I walked in. They are always going above and beyond. I often brings out of town friends and family here and they are always impressed. I can't have dairy and will sometimes forget to remove cheese, but they never forget even when I do. They are friendly, attentive and overall amazing. THE ENVIRONMENT You choose a table that is comfortable for where and what you want rather than being seated. It's a casual and comfortable environment, no judgement zone. I've come in wearing a dress and heels after my graduation to celebrate with family, dressed up for New Year's Even dinner and I've also come in wearing sweatpants and t-shirt or workout attire. That's what makes this place great, you can be yourself and enjoy delicious farm to table food. It's always clean and they play great music. You will catch me jamming out while eating my chicken sandwich with the mouth watering aioli on top. CONS Sometimes I crave them on Mondays are they're closed!! :(

From the…read moremoment we walked in, to the recommendations on what to order, to chatting about what we'll try next time, the staff was wonderful. We arrived just before noon and were able to grab a table inside, though the patio looked like a fun option as well. I went with the brisket bánh mì, the Mrs. had the papa rellena, and our son chose the traditional eggs and bacon. Each meal was cooked perfectly, packed with flavor, and portioned just right. This is definitely a stop we'll add to the list the next time we're passing through.
