We came at 4:30 but was let in to get a drink at the bar. The bartender is sweet and knowledgeable. Come 5:00 we were seated come 5:25 we weren't even looked at. We nabbed Abby who was great and was our waitress for the duration. Immediately she brought us bread, drinks, took our order did this while caring for at least 3 other tables. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Ambiance is okay. A little noisy in the dining room but comfortable.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food came ! Yay! The prime rib was a special tonight! Lean and beautiful. Saving leftovers for a great stew this week . All in all it wasn't terrible. Just aggravating when your hungry

[[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is really nice and comfy. They have booths and tables and a bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Their menu includes German cuisine and American dishes. We were sat right away and chose a booth. Abby was a wonderful server! She discussed the salad and soup along with various dishes since this was our first time. We ordered the mushroom crab appetizer which was good. DH ordered the Jager schnitzel in pork and it came with potatoes (he chose German potatoes) and cabbage. I ordered the 16 oz prime rib which came with potatoes. We got the soup and I added the salad. The soup was amazing and the salad which was only tomatoes, cabbage and cucumber. Each one was marinated in different marinades and it was good. The prime rib was tasty and tender. DH was so very happy with all his food!!! The German potatoes were fantastic! We even ordered dessert to take home. He ordered peanut butter pie and I ordered cheesecake. Delicious! We'll definitely be back!!

Our friend begged us to come here for months, and I'm so glad we finally made it! What a hidden gem to those of us not from DeLand. The salad and potatoes alone are worth it, but everything was excellent!

Stopped in for a quick bite during lunch. It's an older establishment with a decidedly 'central Florida' feel. Ordered an 'American' dip a.k.a. French dip and a Haddock sandwich. Apparently it was American Monday due to it being President's Day. The haddock was great, as was the coleslaw and sweet potato fries. However the beef on the dip sandwich tasted like the sliced roast beef you'd get from a deli. It was SUPER salty and had that lunchmeat flavor. I choked it down but it was not good. Should've had the burger. The folks there are friendly and the prices are in line with other lunch places. We'll be coming back for dinner soon to try the prime rib and their German offerings. They have Warsteiner beer on tap which I'm excited to try next trip as I don't often see it at bars.

If you want the best prime rib or German food this is the place to go. Miss Emy is the owner and she will go out of her way to make sure you feel right at home. She checks in throughout your meal to make sure everything is perfect. She is an immigrant from Germany and serves up great food. This is not a fancy place, just good down home cooking. They start you off with two big loves of fresh baked bread which is delicious. Then you get soup or salad. We chose the salad which consisted of shredded cabbage, tomatoes, cucumbers and cheese in a creamy sauce. The salad was very fresh and more like a cucumber salad. The main course was a giant slice of prime rib that was roasted to perfection. It is enough for at least two meals. We all took lots of food home with us. We will be going back as it was so good and we want to try some of the German food.

This was my first time at Emmy's ! Everything was amazing, steaks perfectly cooked. Potatoes were perfectly seasoned and the slaw is my favorite salad. Came here with the bestie for birthday dinner, we sat at the bar where the bartender was the star of the show, drinks were very generously poured. Everyone was enjoying themselves . He mentioned that they will not be carrying the filet much longer due to the price which is find sad. Meat is expensive. When i go out for a good steak , I expect to pay the prices. The ambiance is old style country diner which I love. It's like going to grandma's house for dinner.

I have been coming to Emmy's for a few years and it has always been exceptional; both the service and the food. Last night was the first time I went back following Emmy's passing, which saddened everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. I was a little worried about the food quality and service slipping without Emmy, but I have to say, our steaks were exceptional and the service was outstanding. In fact, everything was great; the steaks, the cabbage/cucumber salad, the beef barley soup and the other appetizers. Although I'll miss getting a hug from Emmy when I visit, she would be proud to know that the crew at Emmy's is continuing her legacy of making people happy by warmly welcoming their patrons and continuing to serve the best steaks in the state at reasonable prices.

The ambiance was inviting, stylish, and felt like the perfect setting for a weekend experience with friends. The food overall was good. The shrimp and grits were definitely the highlight for me full of flavor and well done. The steak, however, wasn't my favorite and didn't quite hit the mark. The fruit bowl was exactly that fruit in a bowl nothing special but fresh. The banana pudding was delicious and a sweet way to end the meal. The service was a bit inconsistent, which I believe was due to the waitress being very busy. There were a few moments where we waited longer than expected for menus, straws, or even water. While noticeable, it didn't completely take away from the experience and felt more like a staffing issue than a lack of care. Overall, I would absolutely return for brunch with friends. The atmosphere alone makes it worth another visit, and with the right company, it's a great spot to enjoy a relaxed and beautiful brunch experience.

For appetizers, we tried the coconut shrimp, Table tots, spinach dip, and charcuterie. Everything was fantastic except the shrimp, which were a bit overcooked. The rest of the starters were flavorful and well prepared. Most of our group ordered the NY strip since they were out of the filet, while others chose the meatloaf, mushroom pasta, and a few other dishes. Portions were generous and the food was tasty. While the strip wasn't the best I've had, it was cooked perfectly. Dessert was a bit hit or miss. We tried all the pies -- most were decent and nicely presented, though nothing stood out. The salted caramel cheesecake had a grainy texture rather than being smooth. Service was friendly, but a little rushed. Courses came out too quickly, making it hard to enjoy each one before the next arrived. The table became crowded with plates, and the pace felt chaotic at times. The server was kind and seemed possibly overwhelmed. Overall, a good meal with solid food, but pacing and a few execution details could use some attention.

Once you understand that this is a restaurant founded in 1959, housed in a former two story home originally built in 1951, you may come to appreciate the history and understand the vibe. It is truly amazing that this historic restaurant has survived in 2026. I happen to like the uniqueness and honestylye-feel, as if you're at someone's grandma's house. There is plenty of parking directly behind the restaurant and a small lot in ftont of the restaurant. There's parking along the side too. I enjoy the beautiful plants and flowers surrounding the restaurant. Honestly, they can make for a nice photo on a good day. Upon entering, if it's busy, like on Sunday afternoons, you'll find that you'll receive a little card with a number on it. After waiting and listening for your number to be called, you'll be seated. Check the website before you go... You'll be prepared for the hybrid meal service. Some things are served to you at the table and are not unlimited, like soups and desserts. Some things are self-serve and unlimited, like the old-fashioned salad bar and hot vegetables. A server will hand-carve your choice of meat for you. Just "know-before-you-go" by taking a quick glance at the website. Is it five star food? No. Is it just homey country style cooking? Yes. They serve lunch and dinner. They are supported by generations of locals. Lots of people like to celebrate their birthday here. If you bring at least 3 friends to help you celebrate, you'll dine for free. Contrary to many reviews, I've never experienced or seen rudeness. In fact, I've seen staff taking the time to be friendly to guests. When coming here, you can't be super picky about the food - it's not a five star restaurant. Yes, the green beans may be from a can. It's okay, you'll survive! Enjoy the unique experience!

All the others still load it up with syrups but my mocha was perfect here and I could still taste mostly coffee with a hint of chocolate. Our breakfast sandwiches were still hot and fresh even after a 20 min drive to our destination. The ciabatta on the chipotle breakfast sandwich was soft and not hard and dry like some places can get with that type of bread. The fillings were fresh and well balanced. My egg/bacon/cheese croissant was buttery and hit the spot with a big layer of fluffy scrambled eggs and bacon cooked not too crispy but not too floppy so you could bite through it nicely.
