I'm a big fan of fast-food seafood, so I decided to give this Captain D's a try. If you're not familiar, Captain D's is like Long John Silver's--but better in almost every way, especially when it comes to price. I've eaten at several Captain D's locations, but this one stands out as the cleanest I've ever visited. The staff was absolutely amazing during our visit, which made the experience even better. Even though this location is 30 minutes out of our way, we'll definitely be coming back. Just a quick side note: we didn't dine in--we took our food to go and ate at home. I don't go all the time because it is so expensive but today I thought I would treat my wife. I don't know what happened but the person that made the decision to change the fish should be fired. It used to look like the chicken with the excellent breading, now it is so small it looks like a fish stick and the breading on it is not good at all, the same for the shrimp. My wife and I split a 2 piece fish and shrimp with French fries and Coleslaw. The food was excellent. Hush puppies were perfect - not too dark and not gooey. French fries were golden crispy. So, apparently any deals on the website don't work here, so don't expect anything or the staff to care. I normally love this place, but also how our service was handled tonight, the staff could care less. Came in on a Friday evening wit three people in front of me. Lecia was the only employee behind the counter, but she was able to fill everyone's orders in a timely fashion. Captain D's, at 6327 Broadway Blvd, Garland, TX 75043 Tues night after working 12 hours I wanted a quick meal. I ordered the 5.99 2 piece fish promo. When I arrived at the DT window I was told my total was $6.46 I gave the cashier my credit card after swiping it she told me she needed 2 pennies. I thought this was weird because I check my card and credit daily so I'm aware of my credit and card balances. I asked for a receipt and she called the manager over. He (Nathan ) asked for my card again she swiped it and gave me a receipt for $5.60 I was like this is weird. I pulled forward and checked my transactions on my cc and notice 2 pending charges. I parked went inside to talk with the mgr (Nathan ) I asked him what happened he loud talked me and said out loud (for everyone in the dining room to hear)you didn't have enough on your card to cover $6.46and your card didn't go through. He apologized jokingly stating I didn't mean to say that out loud ( but he meant it). I explained to him there's $9,000 balance on this card I'm sure there's enough. He continued to disregard me being disrespectful. I ask for the corporate office number he explained that it was a franchise and he was the contact person. I did receive a credit because I returned the fish. However never an apology. I've been going there for years because I like their food. It's seems as though there's some shady business practices going on with management and staff. I did also contact their corporate office. If I could give negative stars I would. I've loved the food from this restaurant since I was a kid, but this location is absolutely terrible. Edith is especially rude and needs retraining. No one here is friendly or even acknowledges that we are human beings that are paying for a service. Edith was rude to my daughter and her friend, to myself and then she was very rude to my husband and snatched his card from him. My husband is a restaurant General Manager with 20+ years experience, this experience was not acceptable. A disgrace to the corporation. The manager was standing next to her and said nothing about the attitude we received. Time to find a different location or a new company to go to. read more

I was curious to see what Captain D's had to offer. Alot of anticipation building up to this moment and i was a little disappointed. I've been to a few fried fish places in my life and this place wont be in my top 3. Biggest complaint would be the value for your money. Very small portions, fish stick style cuts, tenders are nothing special, an extra side of corn cost $2.18! Must be the forbidden aztec corn of ancient times..very rare. Sauces are good, cole slaw was deeeeelish! Hush puppies were very good too. It was very clean and bright colors made the visit enjoyable. Service was fast as well. I probably wont come back. Whoever the sassy gay man is-he is very rude and tends to rush you while you're at the speaker (there's nobody else in the drive thru, but that shouldn't even be an excuse if there were others). I came to this place two times this week. First, yesterday-my mom used to take my son here before COVID and my son asked me to get him some fish like she used to. So I got to the speaker and this very bothered voice rushes me to decide what to order. I hurry up and say something. I didn't think much of it, maybe he's having a bad day. But today I go again, because my husband wants fish tonight. Again, a very sassy,annoyed, rushing voice speaks. Pretty much what the heck do you want lady! Rudely trying to get me out. Once I get to the window, he just sticks his hand out the window for payment like it's such an annoyance that there's customers coming through. Like really? No, hello/thank you/smile, nothing! Just sassy sassy dude and then pretty much throws the tiny kids meal drink at me. And then goes back to talk to the man with the dry pink ponytail. And they have a whole happy conversation. Omg this place is so good nice friendly employees. I went to the one on Jim Miller and 30 and I'm glad i left. The food was so good I didn't even take a picture for the review. Next time i will. I have eaten at other Captain D's locations for years, however this location didn't meet expectations. The coked country fish tasted like frozen fish sticks and the battered fish was thin with very little batter. In the future, I will return to the other location. read more

I'm not much of a fish eater but I'm trying to work it in to my diet so, I decided to give Captain D's a try. The fish seems to be off decent quality; they use whole fillets. However, if you aren't used to eating deep fried foods that often it will be a bit heavy. I liked that they have vegetables for sides and the coleslaw is excellent. They are also environmentally friendly. Your food comes on a real plate with metal flatware and the dipping cups are paper (similar to McDonald's ketchup cups, but wider and shorter.) In conclusion, not a bad place to eat and a bit of a step up from the typical fast food place. read more

Got to this location at 9:30pm and door was already locked even though they close at 10pm! Customers were still inside eating as I stood outside in the cold waiting. Manager and employees continued working and walking past the door as if I didn't even EXIST! I even tried to call the store and they deliberately did not answer the phone during business hours!!!
