I want to give this a 10 star rating. I do not think that I have ever stayed at a more charming, yet elegant hotel/ bed and breakfast. While we are diligent with reading reviews and scouring photos- it's easy to be disappointed- but not here. The Inn is lovely. It is also immaculate and the interior finishes are beautifully updated and while it is an historic residence, it has a modern twist with the appointments in the rooms. Exquisite beds and linens, quality flooring, absolutely stunning. Not to be missed is a delightful breakfast, local coffee beans and homemade jams to choose from. Do not think for one minute that this is any less than a 5 star facility. My hat is tipped to this husband and wove team. BRAVO. read more

An outstanding bed and breakfast. Google will tell you it's a 3-star hotel but that's really a disservice to the quality and care that goes into your stay here. It's an old house but they have done a wonderful job updating the facilities (the bathrooms are gorgeous, AC was perfect) without sacrificing the charm. The property has a beautiful swimming pool and a great backyard garden for the lazy-afternoon-book-readers. It is walking distance to a small beach and central to many great dining options. The Covid-19 protocols they have in place are great and really reassuring that no corners were cut in ensuring guests' safety. The beating heart of the entire operation is the hospitality. Laurie and Jason are fantastic hosts and the great organization, thoughtful design and reliable great taste of Captain Freeman Inn is clearly attributable to them. The breakfasts are superb but the gentle guidance about our daily adventures (what to do, where to eat, etc.) in Cape Cod is certainly what I will remember the most. My wife and I were invited to a wedding in Harwich and stayed 3 days at Captain Freeman Inn. It was our first time and we were very favorably impressed. The Inn is situated on a quiet street in a residential neighborhood and is a pleasant short walk to Breakwater Beach. It is immaculate, welcoming, and well staffed. Byron and Donna are helpful and always available. We enjoyed our room (Yarmouth) and found everything to be first class--the linens, furnishings, toiletries. The weather was changeable during our stay and the climate control system was effective and unobtrusive. The breakfasts alone are worth the trip. We have been in numerous B&B's with well-intentioned proprietors who try. Byron and Donna succeed magnificently. Besides breakfast, there are remarkable baked goods available during the day and a variety of fresh cold beverages. The Inn is spacious, comfortable and immaculately clean. We stayed in the Brewster Room. We arrived to 2 decadent cupcakes and a personalized hand written note. The bed and pillows were so luxurious and comfortable. There is a large closet, a/c, gas fireplace. Additionally, bathrobes and slippers were available.The breakfast was absolutely delicious as were the sweet, freshly baked goodies available in the afternoon. Coffee and tea is readily available throughout the Inn. Laurie and Jason accommodated our different food preferences by providing us options. They out of their way to ensure that we were comfortable and that all of our needs were met. There are both blankets and umbrellas available to utilize outside. We loved the gas fire pit in the back and the rocking chairs on the front porch. They gave us suggestions for things to do in the area and were always available if we needed them. Soon as I walked through the door, I fell in love with this place. The owners Donna and Byron are so welcoming, helpful and friendly, you feel like you are at home. What makes this B&B so special is its one of a kind charm, the amazing breakfast and afternoon/evening treats (to die for!), the staff including their cute sweetie dog Harrison, and all the extras you get with your stay (local made natural bath soaps, morning coffee located next to your room, bath towels, umbrellas, etc.). Each room is decorated differently so there is a room for every Cape Cod style. There were so many other nice people staying there that it just added to the experience. The location is also ideal, walking distance from the beach, close to major highways, centrally located to great restaurants, other towns and is next store to the historic Brewster General Store. A must see on your Cape Cod travels. You know you love a place when you get sad to leave and I'm still bummed our vacation is over. Part of the reason why my boyfriend and I had such a great trip was because of our experience at the Captain Freeman Inn. I can't wait to stay here again and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a quality, quaint and memorable B&B. Stay here for at least 3 days. Whether we arrive needing some pampering (elegantly appointed rooms, linens, can get a massage/facial), a swim in the heated pool (all year round!), a delicious meal (gourmet, 3-course breakfasts and afternoon treats), or just to take a break from our busy lives, Laurie and Jason and the whole staff, make us feel so welcomed and taken care of that we never want to leave! This will be the best place that you have ever stayed if you come. The second you walk in, you feel like you're in this quaint New England home with such amazing interior design and a cozy feel. The owners are amazing and so friendly and literally will accommodate anything you ask for. The daily 3 course breakfast and afternoon snacks are to die for - so fresh and tasty and they will accommodate any dietary restrictions. The rooms are so clean and the products are all natural and high-end, in addition to these amazingly comfy bathrobes and slippers. We came to the Cape for the 1st leg of our honeymoon and stayed at the Captain Freeman Inn for 4 nights. I was excited for a sweet BnB, and this place was SO MUCH MORE! #1: the rooms are great! If you can tolerate a queen bed, the Harwich Room has THE BEST shower/bathroom. All of the rooms are cute though, and spacious with nice sitting areas. The antiques are well maintained and everything was extremely clean. #2: breakfast is out of this world! Every day our breakfast was unique and filling. My family brought me here as a graduation present, and it was a treat. I've never been here before, but my parents have, as have my grandparents (long before even the current owners). We don't really do the whole "so many generations of my family have done this" thing in my family, but I kid you not--3 generations of my family have enjoyed relaxing at this inn. Donna, Byron, and house dog Harrison really look to the little things to make the visit wonderful. There's always homebaked goodies out for snacks, along with fancy lemonades and the like. Breakfast is leisurely and Byron (he who cooks) is accommodating, if you have issues with gluten or something to that order. The furniture and home overall are just plain inviting--everything is comfortable and not just beautiful but also really meant to be lounged in for hours. It's not just a home base but a very homey home away from home. If I got rained in while on vacation, I wouldn't mind at all were it at this inn, and I cannot say that for most places I've stayed. Donna and Byron, the hosts, anticipate every need and respond immediately to your requests, and always with a smile. We booked a wedding package with Captain Freeman's Inn. Let me first start off by saying Donna and Byron (the owners) are two of the nicest people. They handled everything for us, scheduled the reverand to marry us, had a hair stylist and make up artist come for me, got me a beautiful bouquet. We wanted to get married on the beach so Byron brought us around to different beaches and took beautiful pictures of us at each one. He even brought us to a local ice cream shop after to celebrate us picking out our beach! Our wedding day was perfect. Byron took beautiful photos. He has such a great personality and really connected with our guests. We went back to the inn after the wedding and Donna had set up a beautiful presentation of our cake, chocolate covered strawberries and champagne. Our room was perfect. We stay in the Truro room. It was beautiful and extremely cozy. On our wedding day Donna brought me up a tray of food for breakfast. It was delicious! There were fresh cut flowers, chocolates and a nice welcome note in our room when we first arrived. words cannot express how grateful I am for Donna and Byron, they made our day so special. My husband and I just got back from a wonderful 2-night weekend stay in the Dennis room at the Captain Freeman Inn. The hosts were gracious, the cookie jar was full, coffee was plentiful, and baked goods were delicious! The room décor was beautiful and calming. It truly felt like an escape. I loved the wrap around porch, with rocking chairs out front and a screened in porch in the back overlooking the pool. It is one of the first vacation spots I've stayed where I decided I wanted to plan in time just to relax on the porch! Usually I want to be out and about exploring, but the Inn is so well appointed and relaxing that I made sure to spend time enjoying a book and a glass of wine on the porch. The Dennis room also had a jetted deep tub, and although I am typically worried about germs of hotel tubs, the Inn was so incredibly clean that I wasn't worried and took a much needed spa bath. I was really impressed with how well appointed the rooms were. We were welcomed with flowers, homemade chocolates, and the scent of lavender. The linens (those on the beds, as well as in the bathroom) were luxurious. The proprietors did not spare any expense on the quality of the items in the room. This continued into the bathroom, with a wide selection of vegan , high quality, bath bars, soaps, salts, and sprays. The Inn also provided pool and beach towels, which we appreciated and brought to the beach with us. The three course breakfast was also fantastic, served on the screened in porch. One day was blueberry pancakes, banana bread, homemade sorbet, and fruit. The second day was a cheese omelet, homemade muffin, and fruit. In the afternoons, there were homemade desserts (such as Kahlua cheesecake). The Inn is centrally located in Brewster and we ventured down the 10 minute walk to Breakaway beach. We also walked to the Brewster Fish House for a seafood dinner. The next day we drove to a restaurant in Eastham, and our last morning we drove to Nauset beach (about a 15-20 minute car drive). I don't know if a weekend away is just what the doctor ordered, or what it was specifically about the Inn, but I had a truly relaxing weekend. My girlfriend and I just spent 3 nights at the Captain Freeman Inn and had a wonderful time. Laurie and Jason, the hosts, were most welcoming and inviting from the time we arrived until the time we left. We stayed in the Dennis room, which is beautifully decorated, comfortable and cozy. We were provided with plenty of towels (for both bathing and the beach), toiletries (some I've never seen provided before, like shave soap and chapstick), and amenities. Each morning we were served a 3 course breakfast, which included some sort of pastry, fresh fruit and then a main course/entree. Choice of fruit juice, coffee, tea, and water were also provided as well. The coffee was especially delicious and is locally sourced from Snowy Owl Coffee Roasters, which is just down the street from the Inn. I never realized how much of a difference fresh coffee made the right way makes a difference. More food and treats were provided in the afternoon as well, like cookies, dried fruit, nuts, and chocolates. All of the food was packed in sealed bags and in a bento box for each individual room, which was a very nice touch. The Inn is very centrally located on the Cape. It is just about a 5 minute walk down the street from Breakwater Beach, which was great, because there's no need to worry about any parking passes for the day. The beach also had plenty of room for us to set up our chairs and have plenty of space around us. We were never more than 30-45 minutes away from anywhere we traveled to during our stay. In closing, I highly recommend the Captain Freeman Inn. It is a wonderful bed and breakfast, which is absolutely worth visiting if you are planning on traveling to Cape Cod. The Captain Freeman Inn is home away from home. Donna and Byron create a warm and wonderful environment for guests. We have been staying with these hosts for years and have become friends because they get it right. Typically, my husband and I like to stay at different places to enjoy a variety of experiences however there is no need when you are guests of these hosts. Staying at the inn is very relaxing. Take a nap or snack on the homemade baked goods and teas on the large front wrap around porch. Enjoy a swim in the salt heated pool. Or enjoy a port or sherry night cap after returning from dinner. My husband and I look forward to each morning as breakfast is an event. The meals are creative and Donna is very accommodating to those with food sensitivities or allergies. They also change things up every once and while by serving homemade fruit sorbets before the entrée. Donna and Byron are knowledgeable about the area and local establishments and can help you plan your day or make restaurant suggestions. This exquisite service and relaxing experience keep us coming back year after year. There are so many things to do in this area of the Cape from biking on the CCRT and swimming in the kettle ponds, to shopping unique boutiques and galleries to enjoy bay or ocean beaches. While staying at the Captain Freeman be sure to take a walk to the beach to catch a stunning sunset. Take a drive up to Provincetown (P'town) for a day trip or jeep tour of the dunes. We had an amazing stay at the Captain Freeman Inn! We stayed in the Orleans room, which is on the first floor - it is beautiful! The bed is comfortable with a lot of pillow choices and the (newly renovated) bathroom was spotlessly clean. The shower is perfect! Great shower pressure .... I want one of those in my house! Donna really goes above and beyond with the little things. From the chocolates in our room when we arrived, to the constant supply of afternoon pastries, suggestions for restaurants/activities .... she is great! Not to mention her delicious breakfasts, which she happily altered to be dairy free when I mentioned I was lactose intolerant. My wife and I came here on our honeymoon this past August and we couldn't have picked a better spot. The house and rooms: The recently renovated house was absolutely stunning. Our room was beautiful, clean and every detail was thought of and attended to, including very nice toiletries in the bathroom and nice robes. The bed was unbelievably comfortable, I haven't slept as well as I did at the CFI in months. Also, the pool is very beautiful and relaxing to sit by. The food: The breakfast and baked goodies are amazing. We were consistently impressed each day with how delicious the breakfast was. Also, having constant access to delicious cookies and breads all the time was pretty awesome. The staff: The staff were the real star of the show here, if you ask me. So courteous and nice. We also got lots of great recommendations for places to eat and go from them. The location: Brewster is an awesome town to stay in because you're central to so many different things. Also, lots of great restaurants. The CFI is specifically in an awesome spot, right next to the Brewster general store which is a cool place. It's also within stumbling distance of The Woodshed, a great dive bar to go to for a drink and some live music. Note that the beach down the street is not the greatest you'll find on the cape, a little mucky and quite a walk out to the water. However, fear not, it will do the job and if you want to go to a great beach, try out Mayflower or Chapin beach which are about a 15-20 min drive away. We've just left the inn after our first visit and are already trying to plan our next visit! We felt at home from the moment we walked through the front door! Each room was impeccably decorated with so much attention to detail, wonderfully comfortable beds and many amenities. The innkeepers Laurie and Jason are so warm and friendly. We loved chatting with them each day and appreciated all of their recommendations! The breakfasts were out of this world! Each day had a different menu all served with homemade baked goods, fresh fruit, and specialities like eggs, pancakes, waffles, avocado toast, etc. Our multiple food allergies and preferences were taken into consideration and they went out of their way to have plenty of things for us to enjoy! One thing was better than the next!! In the afternoon they served more baked goods and treats with ice tea and spa water which we enjoyed on the comfortable lounge chairs out by the heated pool. The inn was quiet and the guests were all respectful of others. We couldn't hear people in the halls which is a huge pet peeve of mine. My boyfriend and I came here this summer from Chicago and we really enjoyed our time at the Captain Freeman Inn! The rooms were spacious, clean and quaint with large updated bathrooms. Breakfast every morning was outstanding; we had blueberry pancakes one morning and French toast with eggs the other. They also have cookies and refreshments out at all times; one afternoon they had a cheese plate and champagne out for us as well.There is plenty of seating around the pool and it's just a short walk to a smaller beach. My wife and I came up for our Anniversary. This place is great! I would give it an even HIGHER star rating but yelp won't let me. :) Everyone is very nice and enjoyable. From the minute I walked into this cozy B&B I knew I was going to enjoy it. The innkeeper and owner were both extremely nice and made me feel comfortable enough to ask for anything that I needed without hesitation. The next day I interacted with some more of the staff during breakfast and I found them to be just as pleasant as the innkeeper and owner were; this further made me feel relaxed in such a pleasant environment. The room was perfect too. It was clean and comfortable and the only thing that could have made it better was maybe one of those sliding doors they have on star trek that makes that cool noise. Everything I needed was in my room and just a short walk down the stairs were other goodies such as some free wine, cookies, bottled water and tea. For me, the icing on the cake that got me to write this review was the exceptional hospitality from the owner. An unfortunate financial situation arose and the owner went out of his way to help me out. At first I was hesitant to take such kindness from a stranger, but then I realized that I needed the money to purchase gas for my return trip, so I eventually accepted his gratitude and he kindly assured me to think nothing of it. Never in my life have I experienced such kindness from a stranger, and this is what I believe makes the Captain Freeman Inn stand above and beyond any other place I've ever stayed at. We watched wild turkeys sunning before breakfast. Lavender sachets and truffles with a small bouquet were on the bed tray when we arrived. Port and sherry may be sipped on the comfortable front porch. Across the street is a cemetery and old church with graves dating back to the early 1700's. Fascinating. A block or so away is a little field with a bench. You can sit among the lilacs and listen to the cardinals and other birds. The shore is only a couple blocks away. Many restaurants are very close or a short drive from the inn, Harrison, the dog, is charming. Be sure to ask him to "smile". We stayed at the Captain Freeman Inn for one night in August and the only negative thing I can say about our visit is that it wasn't long enough. Unfortunately I began our vacation planning too late - and the Captain Freeman was booked. We ended up staying 3 additional nights in Chatham, which was very nice, but the truth is we were spoiled at the Captain Freeman and wished our entire stay had taken place there. From the beautiful grounds (including a lovely pool) to the gracious hosts (Donna, Byron and Harrison) - I could go on and on about this outstanding Inn and how much we enjoyed it. We stayed in the Provincetown Room which was painted a very soft and calming shade of light green. There was a skylight complete with a shade to darken the room for an afternoon nap. Doors opened to a lovely sunporch with sitting area, refrigerator and a commanding view of the gorgeous gardens, birdhouses and lush backyard. Artwork adorned the walls, there was a flatscreen TV, large closet, two reading chairs, a gas fireplace build in to the wall and even clock cubes on each nightstand where you could plug in your mobile phone charger! Our king size bed was comfortable to put it mildly and ensured a very restful night's sleep with its soft sheets and fluffy pillows. Even taking a shower was a treat with the amazing Turkish towels and soft, plush robes that we didn't want to take off. An assortment of soaps, lotions, bath salts are also included and make you feel like you are in a lavish spa. Every single detail has been thoughtfully and carefully planned - they have thought of EVERYTHING you could ever need or want during your stay. Filtered water on tap in the common area, along with your choice of teas (for brewing), a Keurig coffeemaker, and fresh/homemade treats. During our stay there were oatmeal cranberry chocolate chip cookies and carrot cake cupcakes. DELICIOUS! The Inn is quiet and peaceful and you really do feel like you are at home - because Donna and Byron make you feel that way. They are warm, down-to-earth, kind people who know how to make guests feel like family at their Inn. And Harrison, their Labradoodle, only adds to the charm and appeal. If you aren't a dog lover I would not be concerned, because Harrison knows his place and is very polite and low key. However, if you are a dog lover like we are - then you will thoroughly enjoy special moments during your stay with this beautiful pup who has a heart of gold. Breakfast. Breakfast was perfect. Take a seat on the beautiful screened in porch overlooking the pool and you are immediately attended to with excellent service provided by Marco and Donna. Coffee and juice are served and a large bowl of fresh strawberries and blueberries were presented. Next came the buttermilk blueberry pancakes and bacon - my mouth is watering just thinking about it. The seats -even the seats you sit on engulf you and make you feel relaxed and pampered. The location of the inn is absolutely perfect. Only a short walk from several restaurants and about 8 minutes up the road from Breakwater Beach where you can swim and sun during the day and take in the most beautiful sunset we have ever seen at night. There are things everyone enjoys when away on vacation and then there are the special touches, people you meet and or memorable experiences that you take with you and will never forget which make a vacation exceptional. This is what we had at the Captain Freeman Inn and I don't think it can be surpassed, because Donna, Byron and Harrison at the Captain Freeman Inn were such an instrumental part of our amazing stay on Cape Cod!!! read more

Great service, great location and great food! Captain Freeman Inn is located in the center of Brewster right near a beach and the general store. Donna and Byron are so accommodating and helpful. They make you feel so welcome and at home. I would recommend this inn to anyone! read more

My sister and I spent three oh so delightful nights at the Captain Freeman Inn just a few days ago. We had read the amazing reviews prior to booking our two rooms, but I usually take those reviews with a grain of salt...however they are all true and more. Byron and Donna really have thought of every comfort and convenience for their guests. I came poorly prepared for the weather- we had one rainy day- and lo and behold there was a stash of fresh umbrellas by the front door. The breakfasts were gourmet level and plated accordingly. I knew they were reputed to be good, but did not expect to be blown away by them. After all, I come from Berkeley, home of Alice Waters and many 5 star chefs so I'm spoiled by great food on a day to day basis. Couple that with the fact that breakfast is my favorite meal, I just didn't expect the Captain Freeman breakfasts to be so amazing. I think if I am ever simply passing through the Cape on a morning, I would call ahead and ask if I could come for breakfast even if I didn't need to spend the night. The breakfasts are beyond anything I've come to expect anywhere. Now I want blueberry juice and a brioche with egg, chicken sausage and home made pesto-from-the-garden every morning. And then the room...I stayed in the Dennis room which had a lovely king sized bed so I could sleep like a starfish. The bed was super comfortable and the pillows were amazing. I will have to ask Donna where I can buy some for myself. They were perfect for me- the insomniac side, back and stomach sleeper. There was a pillow for every type of sleeper and I used them all! The bathroom was small but very clean and had everything you could want, and more. It had a jetted tub which was great for washing away insomnia and travel blech, a good strong shower and all the other amenities you look for in a bathroom. As hosts, Byron and Donna, not to mention the very gallant and charming Harrison the Labradoodle, were attentive without being intrusive and worked tirelessly to keep everything shipshape (couldn't resist) and their guests happy and well fed.
