My husband really wanted to try this place out, but we were pretty disappointed. Most of the seafood was overcooked. There was nothing worth going back for. The clam chowder was good, but for $20 a person, we could have eaten some place a lot better. Our service was not very good either. We never did get extra plates and ultimately left rather than wait. Also, there is some nasty 'salt scrub' in the bathroom that they are selling at the checkout counter - do not try it. We almost did not go there due to the bad reviews. Someone wrote that they would not let them look at the buffet but when I told them I had a picky kid, they suggested I look at it. There was every kind of seafood you would exp%ect; crab legs, oysters, shrimp, clams, mussels, crab cakes, fish prepared several ways and more. As soon as they ran out of something, it was refilled. The rolls were amazing and the dessert selection was fine. I gave it 4 stars because the bathroom needed a bit of attention and we went to a seafood buffet once in Myrtle Beach that was slightly better (but more expensive ). This was good value for $29. If you want all you can eat crab legs then it's ok but don't go if you are expecting a wide variety of seafood. Battered fried shrimp that may have been bought from a local grocery store, crab cakes that were lacking in taste, fried clam strips, oysters, fried flounder, a few other items but not worth the $32. For seafood lovers!!! Grate place and grate deal if you came looking for seafood! Loved loved loved the crab legs. You will not find a better place for a crab legs in closest 100miles at least. Also liked a shrimp alfredo pasta, clams and mussels. My husband picked the buffet without crab legs and got full with oysters and shrimps. They got a selection of not seafood items which is really nice for a people who can't eat just seafood nonstop ( I don't have that kind of problem). Was surprised that they got a full bar and a draft beer. Price for buffet with crab legs 34.99$, without - 24.99$ If you think that it's overpriced go to the publix, buy oysters and crab legs and try to do better. I went here for dinner because I found a 10% off coupon. The crab legs were OK. Some were warm, some were cold, most were lukewarm. The calamari was not warm. The fried shrimp were good. We paid extra for the crab legs-37.99! And had to wait for the crab legs to be added to the buffet. So, while we waited, we started with the raw oysters. The first oyster was bad-shriveled, dry and had an offensive taste. I threw the rest away as I didn't want to get sick! WARNING! DO NOT EAT HERE!! Better food can be found at the local homeless shelter! Atmosphere is putrid! Floor is buckled! This place is a tear down! They should hand out barf bags - bring your own! Totally disgusting food, including the crab legs! Nothing is edible. The crab legs you cannot crack the shell because the shell was bendable? You cannot peel the shrimp because the shell is so hardened onto the shrimp! Once you do remove it the shrimp taste bland, over cooked and gross. The crab cakes are disgusting, the fried clams are nasty, the calamari is rubbery, the other fish is gross, all the sides are store bought or over cooked. The desert is nasty too. The strawberry shortcake doesn't look like real cake, the whipped cream is just gross. The cheesecake doesn't taste or even look like real cheesecake. Oh, and the melted butter on the buffet is not real butter! It's melted margarine I think, it congealed once it was on our table and smells like margarine and taste nasty too. The floors are all buckling so, it easy to trip. The tables and chairs are just really old and ugly & the utensils super cheap. Nothing about this place is worth it. This was the worse Buffet i have ever been to. It was more like a Mom & Pop place instead of top notch seafood Buffet and half the employee's don't speak great/broken english and couldn't understand what we were saying and we couldn't understand them. They listed that they have cornbread and only had hushpuppies. The air was turned up so high that it was causing our food to become cold and it was 50 degrees outside the highest. The vents were all lined up across the top of the wall blowing directly onto the tables all 20 of them. Very over rated we will not eat here again or recommend this place to anyone. For $160.00 I expect better food and service. $39.00 for crab legs & 29.00 w/o crab legs & all other seafood was fried and other foods did not go with seafood. All I could eat was the chicken and the mashed potatoes for fear of getting sick. Everything looked like it had been out for 5+ hours, and had been initially frozen. Not only was it overpriced without crab legs, but it was not even worth half the price. The looks of the food draw you away as soon as you look at it. I don't understand how it's still in business. We just ate there and although the buffet has a variety of items we stuck with the crab legs. They were yummy!! The salt scrub in the bathroom to wash your hands is AMAZING and will leave your hands feeling soft and non-crab smelling! It also got the vote from my husband and son. My Captain Jim's experience was abysmal. My husband and I were on our honeymoon and we are an interracial couple. We were seated in the back room of a nearly empty restaurant along with the only other ethnics in the place. Then our server came out and was rude, did not offer us any specials and when we said we wanted to drink water (because we do not prefer soft drinks), he replied with an "Alright then..." condescendingly. The food was your average food on a buffet - some good some not so good... but we ate from it, were satisfied and didn't have to be hospitalized later and I found that to be a victory. The clincher was when I was reviewing what food I wanted to eat, and one of the ladies (who I assume was management or an owner) followed me around the serving area, and glared at me. When I looked at her to notice, she quickly looked away and stirred the food, but continued to eyeball me from the corner of her eye. I said to my husband "I don't think they like my kind around here..." with the woman in earshot. Then, a white conservative Christian family decked out in obesity and jesus t-shirts sat at a table right next to us in close proximity. They were visibly uncomfortable and the waiter (which was our waiter also) turned to them and asked if the wanted to be moved while looking at us and chuckling about it. When tip time came around he feigned interest in my husbands wire wrapping talents by complementing my jewelry. I hand wrote a review stating all of these facts and attached it to our bill on our way out with my husband. We waited a while as the manager was sitting in the first booth shooting the shit with someone and looking at us in disdain. He walked slowly up to us and said "Everything alright?" We were stoic but polite and said "yes, thank you." he said "Alright then." as a means of dismissal to our patronage. The same woman that followed me around then stood watch as he completed our transaction and swiftly walked away. Then she stepped behind the counter said nothing and I told her: "Oh yes, we wrote you a review." Then she said "Thank you." And as we walked out I said "Oh you're quite welcome." The only part of the review that I remember verbatim is this: "Your lack of cultural diversity is astounding, yet it appeals to your hillbilly charm." If your black, stay back. read more

My husband and I ate at this restaurant years ago when it first opened and we loved it. When we walked in tonight, we noticed that it doesn't look at all like the same restaurant inside. It looks cheap and outdated, but we decided to give it a try. We weren't there for the décor after all. Like most everyone else I know these days, I'm trying to watch my calories and carbs, so I thought that surely a seafood buffet would have grilled and broiled seafood as well as decent salad. I was so wrong! The crab cakes were more like cornbread with some sort of weird aftertaste. The fish was ALL either breaded, deep fried, or swimming in grease, and of very poor quality. The shrimp was also deep fried... and hard as little rocks... hard, freezer burnt rocks. Same for the clam strips. My husband chose to get the crab legs, but they weren't very fresh either. There weren't even healthy options on the salad bar! I saw leaf lettuce that was a little wilty, raw zucchini chunks that were turning brown, shredded cheese, something resembling bacon bits, and not much else worth mentioning. I did see some raw oysters, but no way in Hell was I going to eat raw oysters from a joint like this! There were some mayonnaise based mixed salads that I suspect were maybe potato salad and slaw, but nope... not chancing that either. For 3 adults, we wasted about a hundred bucks on really awful food. Seriously, I get MUCH better food at Long John Silver's and Captain D's. At least at the fast food places, you can get grilled or broiled fish. As for dessert, there was a Coca-Cola refrigerator with a sign that said "Help yourself to our desserts". It was empty, except for dirty plates that once held desserts... at some point. There were a few sad looking brown squares with some sort of white topping... at least the topping used to be white. Color from the brownies (?) or cake (?) had bled into the topping making it look almost gray with brown edges. All in all, it was a total loss of our hundred bucks. read more
