There was a flight of stairs up to the restaurant. I think I saw one of the employees lead a couple with a stroller up the parking lot ramp to a back entrance but I'm not totally sure. We sat outside. They had some music playing. Service was good. The burger was alright. My bun was a little hard. I liked the loaded potato soup the best lol My mom said some of the stuff at the buffet did not look fresh. She said the lettuce was looking wilted and most of the cauliflower had browned. My dad got a lobster tail. He said the proportion was great but it was "like eating a rubber band." The server took the lobster tail off our bill and only charged for the buffet which was nice. They have some poor soul out there in the streets, trying to persuade people to go up and eat their overpriced steaks that were frozen 30 days ago or longer. Not a bad review but not so good either. So we're in Gatlinburg for a competition and saw Burgs and was hoping for some good food. They fell short! Maybe it was that we weren't ordering a $70 Tomahawk or a $90 crab plate but all your food should count. As you'll see in the pics, you can dress up a plate but that doesn't make up for the taste! The restaurant itself was not bad looking and seemed clean. However, the salad bar needs some serious help. The individual they had working it just went through the motion of stirring and filling and ignored the presentation of old food and over cooked hot sides. Our waitress was very nice and appeared to make sure all her tables were taken care of. If I had to guess, they like locals, but the tourists, not so much. Great steaks and atmosphere. Our server Jess explained everything as we had not been to Burg Steakhouse before. She recommended the mac and cheese and it was an amazing addition to our steaks. I walked up the stairs to the Burg Steakhouse, opened the door, and was greeted by the well-stocked bar. I was there a bit early for the tourist season and was seated immediately. The lighting seemed dark at first, with the wood paneling and brick floor, but as my eyes adjusted from being out in the sun it appeared more well-lit. I ordered the 14-ounce New York strip, medium rare. It came out more medium than rare, but was still thick, juicy, and delicious. In addition to the steak, the meals come with an all-you-can-eat salad bar. The bar includes a standard salad bar, plus baked potatoes, soup of the day, and several other side order options. There was macaroni and cheese, potato casserole, maple sweet potatoes, (wonderful) burgundy mushrooms, green beans, rice with quinoa, spicy Brussel sprouts, jalapeño corn, and more. I found it very easy to get butter and mushrooms from the salad bar for my steak, and butter, sour cream, shredded cheese, and bacon bits for a great baked potato. The service was attentive. Downtown was packed but this place was empty and they had two employees on the street out front practically begging people to come in, which should have told us something. They should be embarrassed about that piece of meat they put on the plate! It was as thin as a piece of bologna, very grisley, and not cooked at all, as I ordered. I wanted it medium. The meat was well-done on one side of the bone and raw on the other side of the bone. It was the worst steak I've ever put in my mouth! And, I didn't put much in my mouth, because I sent it back to the kitchen. They also served me a tiny baked potato, and I had to ask for sour cream and butter to go on it. My husband and I got water, but we never got a refill. It's like our server completely forgot about us because he never came over and checked on us. When I complained about my steak not being good, one manager basically jerked it from me at the table. She never asked if I wanted anything else or apologized for it not being to my satisfaction. I sat there with nothing to eat for awhile, and I was hungry. When I finally told another manager, she just asked if I wanted to order anything else to eat. By that time, I was ready to flee the restaurant as fast as possible, so I said no. We were so ignored by our waiter that we never got the bill at our table. We had to go to the bar area, at the entrance, to pay. We shouldn't have had to pay anything because my husband's hamburger was yucky too. As we were leaving, I voiced my displeasure again and how I was going to do a poor review. The mngr. actually laughed in my face. She sarcastically said, she couldn't wait until the owner found out how upset I was and how she looked forward to seeing the review. Horrible food, horrible service, and horrible mngt! Not tourist friendly, and they don't care what the locals think (bc I informed her we had condo in Gatlinburg.) It's sad, we got such a horrible impression of this place, in every way! It was extremy thin, less than 1/2 inch -- any thinner and would have been like it was sandwich meat. The manager was very rude. I didn't get a water refill the entire meal. My wife complained to the manager about her steak and the manager didn't offer to do anything or apologize. The experience was horrible. It was nice atmosphere inside, but that's about all I can say about it. We won't be back to this place ever... First off use the $10 a day church parking lot behind this restaurant. It's a bargain and easy to navigate the strip. Now on to this "steakhouse". It's not. My wife ordered the filet and it looked like a hamburger. I had the prime rib and it wasn't a prime cut. It tasted aged in the wrong way. The service was spotty at best. The salad bar was a disaster. Had I seen it before sitting down we would have left then and there. The food on the "hot" side looked a week old and not fit for human consumption. Inside the place was nicely lit and decorated. We stopped in when we were passing on the Gatlinburg strip. I had my first ever filet mignon and I thought it was excellent. My husband and I both got the buffet with our steaks which was also great. Our server was spectacular and very sweet but informative. The only negative thing I would say is that they had an employee standing outside trying to talk people into going inside who weren't interested. Something for everyone with the two menus that both include the all-you-can-eat salad bar. A nice place for both casual and high end dining. This evening we opted for burgers from the regular ($25) menu since we were mostly interested in the salad bar. Options on the high-end ($40-150) menu included a huge Tomahawk steak and Snow Crab Legs. The salad bar/ hot bar included lots of tasty sides sure to fill up even the hungriest person. So we ordered 4 specials and 1 French dip sandwich. The food you can tell isn't just frozen patties which is a good thing but they asked temp and I said medium for all 4 and not one of them was medium. We had 2 mid rare, 1 rare and 1 well done. The French dip wasn't terrible definitely couldn't hurt to be seasoned for it was bland. The server seemed nice at first but could tell he has no passion for the job or hates tourists because he wasn't very attentive. He never gave his name but I only know it since it said it on the ticket. He checked on us once and never refilled any drinks or asked even though they were empty for most of the meal. Our group recently dined at this establishment. We were all disappointed in the food. Two people in our group, had the salad/food bar, it was okay, except the baked potatoes seemed over cooked or possibly had been reheated. Three people ordered the T-bone steak lunch special, the steaks were over seasoned with a spice blend we did not care for and had an aroma we especially did not like. The service was fine, waitress was friendly and very helpful. We were told, that, "all day parking", was free at, The Methodist Church, if you dined at the restaurant, we found out this is not true. Portion of the pasta is small, there was 13 of us nobody liked their food or finished it. We yelled our order down the table to our server who expected us to order drinks and food at once.
