I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately it was a disappointing experience from start to finish. Our food took well over an hour to come out, even though the restaurant wasn't busy. Most of our group ordered appetizers as our main meal, including wings and chicken bites. To make things more confusing, two people ordered the exact same wings, yet one received 12 wings while the other only got 8. When the food finally arrived, it was cold. The calamari was especially disappointing--very chewy and practically inedible. The service didn't help the experience either. Our waitress was polite enough, but seemed completely disengaged and offered very little personality or attentiveness. The restaurant itself could also use some updating. The atmosphere felt very dated, almost like it was stuck in the 90s/2000s, and there seems to be a lot of opportunity for improvements and renovations to make the space feel more inviting and current. Overall, between the long wait, inconsistent portions, cold food, lackluster service, and outdated atmosphere, this wasn't a place I'd be eager to return to. Angelo's is a restaurant in a prefect spot on a peninsula on Douglas Lake in Dandridge, TN. The food is good, and the service is friendly. The ambiance is amazing. The inside has windows all around that have good views of the lake. The outdoor seating allows you to have amazing lake views. The restaurant has lots of seating in a big open area and can handle larger groups. There is a full bar in the back right. On the back, there is an 2-3 tiered porch with table on each level. 3 stars for the awesome view and location on the water. We sat outside on the lower patio. Warning - There are no smoking signs posted but not enforced - there were several people lighting up. I should have requested to move inside but you come here to sit outside. Our server was friendly and fairly attentive. Food: My guy ordered chicken tacos even after I warned him this is not the place to order tacos. The presentation was nice but the tacos were meh. No real flavor I ordered wings as I wasn't that hungry - per menu they were smoked and would be served with a crispy exterior. The wings were served a little undercooked and definitely not crispy so I asked if they could be cooked a little more which they did. I couldn't taste any hint of smoke flavor but they were alright. Gabriel is the tender there and really knows his stuff and has lots of awesome plans for the upcoming weeks. This place could be a gold mine. Beautiful lake views from every table. 1st clue was an empty parking lot on Easter Sunday. 2 nice young servers who had no clue what they were doing. Terrible service. Obviously no training. (We tipped our server 18%. We did not blame him.) The restaurant was dirty; the menus were filthy. The prime rib was over cooked. The portion of fried haddock was huge but it was not good. So greasy that there was a pool of oil in the bottom of the basket it was served in. I didnt think of it till now, but I never did get my cole slaw! We eat out at least once a week. We will never return to Angelo's. We had a party of 6 on a Friday evening. We ordered the ribeye medium rare. Both came out super rare. I never complain about food, but it was barely seared. We sent them back and they came out a little better, but still pretty rare. We had a pizza that was amazing, the lasagna was overly seasoned and salty. The shrimp basket with onion rings was good, freshly battered. The salads were good with house made ranch dressing. Our table was under a light that kept turning off and on, so that was a little annoying. Our server was very nice and attentive, but it seemed like she was the only server for the dining room. Maybe we caught them on an off day, but I wouldn't recommend it today. read more

My family and I dined in here today on 6/13/25 for dinner with some friends. The lake is absolutely beautiful. We walked down to the dock while we were waiting to be seated and we seen turtles in the lake. That was so awesome. I love turtles. We were seated promptly at our reservation time. Our waitress was really sweet and nice just not efficient. She was forgetful, she forgot to bring a high chair we requested, and she also forgot about the wine my friend ordered and when my friend asked for it a second time she brought the wrong wine but she didn't charge us for it. That is why I'm giving 5 stars because besides that the food was amazing and that is the best part. We tried a few appetizers. I was expecting our fried oysters to be in the shell but they were not. They were however yummy, just presented differently than I expected. Food was great. The restaurant was nice and the views are amazing. We got the best of both, we got to see sunshine on the lake and a storm rolled in. I would love to come back and dine in here again. read more

This place is honestly only good to go to when it's summertime and you want to enjoy the nice weather and drinks out on the patio. Do not go here to expect good service or service at all. I've been here a few times but only have eaten here once. The last time I came here it was Easter and they had live music and an Easter special lunch / dinner menu. There weren't many people there this day which was nice since it was a holiday. After the live music was done playing on the patio most people left and the restaurant was pretty dead. So we go inside and sit down at a table, there was only one other table that had people at it and then us. The other tables waitress waited on them and we sat there for like 25 mins with not one person coming up to us. So I go outside to speak to a couple of waitresses that I said hi to when I came in and told them the situation, they apologized and went and got someone. Then 10 mins later a different waitress comes up to us and apologize stating she thought someone else had taken our table. The only saving grace for this place is their meatloaf which was recommended by a regular during the live music. Seasoned potatoes could have been cooked a little longer and the crispy brussels sprouts were so hard like they weren't cooked at all and as you can tell by my picture there was no crispness to them. My friend got their rib eye, and it was RAW, if you're going to charge steakhouse prices you better know how to execute the steak well. Mind you there's no one really here, there was more staff than customers so everything should have been on point. Our waitress was all over the place and kept forgetting one of our drinks or something, it was all just a mess. The only way I'm coming here is for the amazing meatloaf but getting it to go or when the weather is nice out again to enjoy drinks while looking out at the lake and listening to their live music. read more

We were super early and they had just opened so we had the whole place to ourselves. And it was a very cool place to be. We had been here before, but sat out on the deck, it has nice views - no problem with service or food at that time, late spring- This time, had made reservations (a day in advance) for inside for 6 people, on a Saturday at 6 - had to wait for about 10 minutes for our table to be "made ready", though it did not look busy inside at all, like 1/2 tables occupied? btw nobody was eating on the deck bc it was raining/lightning storm outside - and hostess claimed they were "low on silverware" (OK?) - One person out of the group ordered a bar item which did not arrive after waiting about 10 minutes and she ended up going to the bar to order and pay for the drink in cash, the server rarely came by to check for soft drink refills, etc.- then orders did not come out correct, ribeye was not cooked correctly, sides were not correct, fries were not hot-server had to take food back to get correct sides - the fried mushrooms were good however - the waitress did not originally ask if tickets would be split, and came out with the full bill, which we asked her to go back and split - then were charged for the bar drink that never arrived and a side that was not ordered, which we had to point out for re-do - The bar area was really busy, with only one bartender working at 6-8pm on Saturday (?) - Maybe it's off-season for workers in March, but hostess and server were still not exactly on the ball, a manager got involved and had to re-do the bills a third time - we tipped minimal for effort, though service and food quality not worth a $65 tab(that's before tip) for two people on 2 entrees without bar items - probably a better idea to go in late spring/summer season to enjoy the deck and music, and hopefully they are better staffed on the floor, bar and kitchen read more

This entire place was a dump honestly. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting and the restaurant had just opened. It smelled like urine as soon as you walked in the front door. The tables were all sticky, crumbs in the floor, fries, straws, etc, crumbs in every chair. Menus were thrown on the table and didn't match anything online . Hostess was inattentive. We didn't even order- the place was so disgusting. So sad to see it go downhill given what it used to be. read more

Food was incredible! We came with our family of ten. We visited from Massachusetts and Iowa. We had rented a pontoon on lake Douglas for the day and this was one of the only options open on the lake on a Tuesday. We called ahead and they instructed us to park our pontoon at the public dock and someone would come and get us. Our driver was also our server and he was amazing! We had burgers, pizza, salads and the club sandwich. All of which were awesome. The dressings we had were delicious. I wish we could remember the name of our driver/server because he was so sweet and super attentive and friendly. Food took a little bit but was totally worth the wait. read more

We have tried it several times hoping it would be good as it is close. Unfortunately it's not! Recently had family in town and they wanted to try it. We walked in and stood there for 15mins and no one came to seat or great us. There was karaoke going on and it was god awful. We walked out and left, I don't think we could have even stayed and eat if we were seated having to listen to the karaoke. First time we ate here a year and a half ago the steak was blue and raw. Great setup and views of the lake. Usually fairly busy, especially on weekends. I've eaten here many times, but most have been for their Easter buffet, which was always very good. My most recent visit (9/14/22) I had salmon stuffed with crab cake mix with 2 fried jumbo shrimp, asparagus, broccoli and rice pilaf. Sides were cold as well as the exterior of the fish. We had a large group, but that's no excuse. It took a little while for our meal to arrive. No complaints from anyone else in our party. read more

Food is mediocre but my main issue is with the service. I ordered pickup around 5pm when there was not much of a crowd. They told me 15-20 minutes. They've been slow in the past so I got there 20 minutes later and food was not ready. After standing there another 10 minutes I left and got home only to realize one meal was left out. I went back to the store immediately and was ignored by the main hostess (who was standing right in front of my order) who waited for a second hostess (the only person who seemed to have any sense) to come out and hand me my food. They offset this mess by giving me a free piece of pie. Only for me to find out the next day that I had left my credit card during the mess. And yet I was there two times last night and nobody managed to notice. So now I'm an hour away from the restaurant and called to see if my card was there which is it. Eating at Angelo's turned out to be a really big ordeal. The food is mediocre at best. The onion rings have a tempura batter which is mostly greasy. The chicken Marsala I went back to get the second time was basically gravy and bulk made grilled chicken (even though menu said lightly battered chicken?) dumped on penne (?) pasta instead of spaghetti or linguini. The chicken used was the same as I got on my Greek salad with grilled chicken. The chicken bites are just nuggets. They look just like the frozen bare nuggets from Costco. Cheesecake was over baked with a brown top. The best things were the cowboy burger and the green salad, especially the onion vinaigrette on my Greek salad. Stick to bar food classics. If you're planning to order pickup I recommend checking food before you leave and not showing up earlier than 30 minutes after you call. read more

Fried mushrooms were firm and fresh with a lightly salted crunch, the Chardonnay was perfect for a summer day and the salad had everything you'd want with a very generous portion. GreatLocation. Nice facilities. We went Sunday afternoon and the place was dead. I asked for an inside table with a view of the lake. The hostess said she would 'make an exception' and let us sit at a bigger table (there were only 2 other tables occupied). Food was decent. Their fish and chips is made with grouper &the crabcakes and fried green tomatoes were good. Honestly my biggest complaint was the gross windowsills. Straw wrappers, dead flies & old food. Glad I checked it out but will find somewhere else to go next time read more
