It's tucked away off South Rainbow and Charleston, near the CSN West Charleston campus -- and let me tell you, this spot is nothing to play with! They serve up ready-to-order chicken and fish are both cost-friendly and absolutely packed with flavor. And do I need to mention... they've got the mild sauce and will ask if you want your chicken fried hard with lemon pepper seasoning? Yep -- this spot is legit and stays true to the Chicago name. Even though I was greeted with great service, i came home to notice that my catfish was swai, which people try to mask because it's cheaper. Then, being from Chicago, they offer it "Chicago Style". So i asked for humor, whats that, she says, we use a mild hot sauce and put it all over. Affordability: Pricing will NOT hurt your pockets at all. This food is NOT over priced. Good food on a budget!!! Cleanliness: Now, they can do better. Yet, they did change out their gloves repeatedly. Wipe things done etc. Just there is just so much stuff and such little space to work with. After coming across this place several months ago online decided to give it a try tonite. It's located on W. Charleston and Rainbow inside of a convenience store. Saturday night around 7:30pm, it was pretty busy. Took about 20 min or so for my order to be ready. It was clean inside and staff were friendly. I ordered the 2 piece catfish with fries, bread and cole slaw. Not a fan of the fries with the lemon pepper seasoning. The fish was okay, not the best I have had. I didn't try the cole slaw. Will I try this place again, no, the food was just not to my personal liking. Not to say others wont enjoy it. Give it a try for yourself. read more

I LOVE catfish, so I was REALLY looking forward to trying the food at this location. I Pre-ordered through Grub Hub at 2pm to have my Catfish Nugget Dinner delivered to me at 6pm. At 3:30pm I received a call stating: "your order is ready for pick-up." I informed the caller that I placed the order through GrubHub to be delivered between 6pm-6:15pm and that was the options the app gave me. The caller proceeded to ask me "Why did you order for a later delivery? And "My cook didn't know about the late delivery, so you have to come pick it up now." I repeated that I ordered it through GrubHub and the caller became angry and stated "Fine! I got you!" And hung up. My order was then delivered at 5:50pm. The order was cold and the packaging and food was soggy and wet from perspiration. I proceeded to heat the food. The photo that I took was what the food looked like AFTER I heated it in the oven. When I sat down to eat, I looked at the receipt and learned that this was the food that they had waiting since 2:02pm!!!!! I had to throw it all away out of fear that I would get sick. VERY disappointing and unacceptable! Don't offer delivery via GrubHub if you don't coordinate with them. I will never recommend this restaurant, nor will I be ordering again!! There are chairs near the entrance to sit while waiting for your food order. The Convenience store was cool, I liked the music playing, the owner of the store and the staff at Captain Sam's were cool too. I love me some Fried Catfish, especially when it's Catfish fillets. I was surprised by how many specials were on their menu at reasonable prices. They have Fish Combos, Chicken and Wing Dinners, Fish and Shrimp Dinners, Side Orders, etc. I liked the variety of fried seafood available on the menu. On the menu: Two Catfish Fillets with French Fries & Bread. Catfish Nuggets with French Fries & Bread. Sweet Corn Nuggets Our food was yummy. Both catfish fillets and catfish nuggets were seasoned well, tender with a crispy finish. The Corn Nuggets were also yummy perfect on the sweetness, creamy texture with a crispy finish. True it is a to go counter type resturant, but the menu selection is excellent, staff friendly, and food is really good. I ordered a 1/2 pound of gizzards with fries and a piece of cod fish. The gizzards and fish were cooked fresh and perfectly with the outsides crisp and inside juicy and perfect. I was also surprised at the large amount of fries I got with my order, and the seasoning on the fries was great. I was skeptical about trying the catfish but will next time since the cod was perfectly cooked. I like the bread slice being included and the macaroni salad was also good. Overall, the amount of food I got was really too much for myself, and I couldn't finish all the fries. Price is decent for the food portions given, and it only took less than 5 minutes for my order to come up. They have some $8.88 lunch specials that looked really good. read more
