3 of us have come here about five times recently in the last month. We were skeptical on our first visit about the soup and salad that's included we thought oh that's a nice touch but it's probably just a tiny little cup of soup and a tiny little side salad. NOPE. You got a nice bowl of soup and a decent size salad. Taste and quality is excellent! Our only tiny bit of feedback would be that the soups needs to be hotter every time we've gone it's lukewarm. Their gumbo soup is really good too. Every meal we've had has been a very nice size portion the quality has been really good, the steaks are tender not full of fat, and nothing has been overcooked or greasy (which I would kind of expect for a diner type of place). I was hesitant about trying the burnt steak ends with the kimchi fried rice and egg off of the summer promotional menu but I was actually quite impressed with the taste and quality and portion size it was way better than I anticipated. On the fried items such as the sampler platter appetizer the quality of it is good and it's not overcooked but the oil needs to be changed because the product is coming out kind of dark and makes it look like it's overcooked (but yet the chicken tenders were not dried out at all they were quite good. Probably the best ones I've had if they had just changed the oil) Whatever brand they're using for their salad dressings is excellent (It's not uncommon to find Caesar or ranch to be on the tangy bitter side but not theirs) We really like that they rotate the soups and the vegetable options everyday. And they also have one soup option that never changes. I wish they would do that for the vegetable as well and have one option that never changes. Service every time has been really friendly and attentive. There have been no issues with the timing of our meals we've never waited excessively long for any anything to come out to the table, drinks are always kept filled as well. Prices are reasonable especially for the portion of food size and the quality as well. And we don't really know any other diner type restaurant such as Denny's or IHOP that would include soup AND salad with almost every entree. The atmosphere is pretty much your diner style decor, the restaurant is very clean and we've never had any issues that we could see. We also really liked the promotional scratch off cards that they gave out for several weeks. That was one of the reasons it kept us coming back and trying other entrees. So other than that tiny little bit of feedback we will absolutely keep coming back. We've heard they're looking at opening three to five more locations around the valley and we look forward to one hopefully opening near the south summerlin area. read more

How did I not find this place sooner?! After moving from the East Coast to Las Vegas, I've really missed the great diners back home, and this place checks all the boxes. The interior is charming, spotless, and very well maintained. The comfortable, spacious booths have classic 1950s vibes while still feeling modern and fresh. Our server, Jennifer Ann, was fantastic. She was friendly, attentive, and took excellent care of us. You can tell she's a true professional who knows how to keep up with the fast-paced diner atmosphere. The value here is incredible. They have a great happy hour drink special, but even at full price, everything is extremely reasonable. It's not easy to find delicious meals for under $20 and drinks for under $10 these days. The menu is exactly what you want from a diner--extensive, with so many tempting options that it's hard to decide what to order. We came for breakfast and will definitely be back to try lunch, but we couldn't resist starting with the mozzarella sticks. The cold brew coffee was delicious, and the free refills were a nice bonus. The mozzarella sticks came out quickly, piping hot, and in a generous portion. The cheese pull did not disappoint! I ordered the Mother's Day special: filet and eggs. The eggs were cooked perfectly. While the steak was a bit overcooked, it was still tender, juicy, and had a great grilled flavor. I upgraded my toast to French toast, which was incredibly fluffy and absolutely delicious. My boyfriend ordered an omelet that was loaded with meat and vegetables. He also got hotcakes on the side, topped with blueberries, strawberries, and cheesecake whipped cream. Recently went for a second visit to gauge how the lunch menu was and, like my first visit for breakfast last year, found it was average. There is nothing out of the ordinary that makes this a step above other places, especially when considering the price and the atmosphere not conveying an actual diner. The service both times was top notch, so I would give service alone 5 stars. I doubt I would go back here based on overall value, but for some it may be a worthwhile experience if they want to try something new. I would recommend breakfast over lunch/dinner and, if you go with the latter, select a soup over the side salad if you decide to get a starter for your meal. I have eaten at Norm's in Ca many times. I'm not sure if this is the same franchise or maybe a different owner because the order I received was not the same quality as the Norm's I am used to. I did an online order around 3pm on a Monday and picked up around 3:30. It was not crowded. I ordered the Hot Open Face Turkey Sandwich. What I got is what looks like scraps of cold turkey on cold bread. It look like the scraps you would have left over after eating a turkey. I did talk to the chef and he was apologetic and offered another meal so I appreciate that. Not sure I will be going back. Yes I should have checked before I left. read more

I had never experienced Norms when living in Southern California years back and happened to be visiting the Walmart on W. Charleston here in Las Vegas, Nevada, had some time to kill and since it's close by, I figured, why not? This is a place that will be visited again soon, right after walking in the door, Evelyn the Hostess was polite, professional and so courteous it was refreshing to see someone in food service actually enjoying their job. Customer Service can really be a test of your people skills and patience. The wait time after sitting down for a server (Theresa Rose, I apologize if your name was spelled wrong) to bring me a menu was lighting fast and after informing her it was my first visit she explained the specials and gave me time to overlook the menu and was really hospitable. The option I chose was MORE than I expected. The choice today was chicken fettuccini (alfredo sauce) and along with that came a basic salad, soup (split pea) and their version of Texas Toast and a drink. Tip included it came to almost $30.00 USD which was fine, when treating myself I never complain about the price, work allows me to do this. I walked out of there with a full belly and in a happy mood. I've never lived in California , but I've heard of Norms. In the past 2 months I've tried them 3 times. First time I had the Special Full Rack of Ribs , 2nd time I went for Breakfast , and the last time late night for a Burger. I would say that breakfast was the best out of the 3 times I went. I like the decor and the design of the old style diner. Also all the employees I interacted with were friendly and helpful. Here is my take on the food I had. 1st visit : Special Full Rack of Ribs with Fries , Coleslaw , and Arnold Palmer. The ribs tasted like a rib special , not very good but not bad either , the bbq sauce was not bad , the fries were good , the coleslaw was very plain like it needed some vinegar to give it a little kick. Coleslaw was nice and crisp , but just hardly any flavor. Arnold Palmer was spot on. 2nd Visit : Loaded Bacon and Cheese Scrambled Eggs with Pancakes with Strawberries and Whipped Cream. When I came the first time I saw a couple both eating a large plate of pancakes and strawberries and I said I'm coming back for those ! My combo the pancakes were smaller and came with a little strawberries and whipped creme , so I guess you have to order the big ones as the main not as a combo. The scramble was very good and a decent portion. It is 2 eggs with Bacon , Tomato , Green Onion , Jack and Cheddar Cheese with a side of Salsa. You get 2 pancakes and I paid extra for the strawberries and cream. It was very good and filling. I would recommend this and I will be coming back for the large plate of Strawberry Pancakes. 3rd Visit : 1/2 pound Double Burger with Tater Tots , $9.99 Special. I was so hoping for a good burger and this was not. It tasted like a Sysco Frozen Patty Cheap Restaurant Burger. If you want a good 24 Hour Diner Burger checkout IHOP. The Cowboy Burger is sooo good. I've heard Denny's is good too , but I haven't had one. I was really hungry because I hadn't eaten all day , so I still ate it , but I would never get a burger here again. I also got a Free Birthday dessert with the App. I got the Chocolate Cake and was told it comes from Cheesecake Factory. It was super rich and I ate half and took the rest home for the next day. So inconclusion I really would only come here for breakfast. Other items on the menu from posted pictures don't seem really appealing to me. The service was friendly and they assistant with getting fresh eggs quickly I had the Gobble Bigger Better Breakfast. Very good and my eggs were over medium and perfectly executed. Our go-to 24/7 American diner for breakfast. We've been here as early as 7am when there's no wait and later in the morning as well where there's a queue. Service is always friendly though typically on the slower side. I LOVE their hotcakes, they are my favorite pancakes out of all the breakfast chain restaurants. They are just so buttery and fluffy! On my most recent visit, I got the 1/2 lb NY steak adobada cooked medium rare. It also came with 2 eggs, hashbrowns, and choice of toast vs pancakes all for $17.99 off of the value menu. I've had their other steak and egg plates but the adobada was by far the juiciest and most flavorful in my opinion. No need to use steak sauce, though on all the tables they have a Norms brand steak sauce that is similar to A1 which I've used for their other steak dishes. Their hashbrowns are pretty standard. At the end of your meal, the server brings you a receipt which you take to the register up front to pay on your way out. Sometimes it's a bit of a wait for someone to come to the register. read more

What I got seemed to be mostly fast food, Dennys/ IHOP quality (but on a bad day). Everything tasted very canned or cheap. Got an advertised "freshly baked cookie sundae" for dessert that they should be ashamed of for advertising that way. Tasted like some processed cookie out of a chips ahoy bag from the grocery store that was thrown in the microwave and served rock hard. Exchanged for a milkshake they wasn't even fully blended and had a huge scoop of ice cream still in it. Only somewhat positives were the omelet, which wasn't great by any means but was edible and the hotcakes which were ok but you could've served me ones from Dennys and these side by side and I wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I always enjoy Norms for the good prices and healthy portions. My recent experience really exceeded my past good experiences because of our server Blanca. She was courteous, professional and a joy to have. I came with my elderly neighbor and we were eager to have the steak and eggs. Because of the economy and because neither of us are big eaters we requested to split a steak and eggs breakfast. We ordered the T-bone with hash browns, eggs and pancakes. Blanca made us feel comfortable and didn't complain about our being thrifty in today's economy. The food portions were perfect and the service was great. This place is awesome! If Denny's a Walmart, this is a Kohl's and the food was good! We came on a Saturday early afternoon (around 2pm), waited for about 10 minutes before we got out table. They were very courteous and friendly, took my name and cell phone to add to the waitlist. You could sit at the counter cuz that seems to be open for solo diners and they did not have to wait. The vibes amd staff: 5/5. The place looks bright, clean and modern. Definitely a step above Denny's. They were quite busy and the manager even stepped in to help bus tables which was nice to see. All the waitstaff were friendly and I saw them greeting all their tables nicely, making everyone welcome. The bathroom could use a facelift though cuz it looks grungy, not matching the bright, clean dining areas. The grubs: It would have been a 5/5 but we waited a long time for our food to arrive. Either they make the food to order or just quite behind but it took quite a long time. By the time it came, one of the entrees was luke warm. We ordered 1. fish and chips: 5/5 cuz the fish is fresh and tasty, breading was crisp. Came with salad and soup which were decent in size and flavors. Thank goodness those were brought out first cuz my wife was famished and I didn't want her to get hangry on me, lol 2. I ordered a full slab of ribs, dry rub: 3/5. It came warm and overcooked but not fall off the bones type of tenderness. The dry rub was on top of the ribs which I didn't expect and it makes the full slab even more dry. It was my first time ordering the dry rub cuz I thought the dry rub was on the ribs before they cook it and it would come out saucy with bbq sauce. No big deal, that was my bad. I just asked for some bbq sauce on the side. However the ribs were dry and a little burnt, making it a little tough. For that reason, I gave it a 3/5. I would come back again cuz they seem to have really good selections of food there. Their breakfast looks great, so that's what I'll try next time. They have 75% off for vets (maybe even law enforcement if I recall correctly) and from Mon-Fri, 55+ also get a discount. It's a great way to give back. And if you sign up for their loyalty program, they give you a free breakfast sandwich for signing up (available to redeem 24 hrs after signing up). Overall, a 4/5 for the experience and food. If for nothing else we'd come back for some coffee and his smile. The food was very good. The service was amazing. The atmosphere is exactly what California strive to be back in the late 70s early 80s. Oldies playing on the radio. Old school feel with modern day convenience. They grind their own burgers, and do mild butchery on site for the meal prep. If I could give 12 stars i would. We have been going to Norms in CA for many years and was so happy to see them open a few restaurants in Las Vegas.Our first 3-4 times at the Charleston location were wonderful, great service and food quality, very reminiscent of our California visits. This week I'm hoping it was an off day (Wednesday) There was no host when we arrived for breakfast, once we were seated we waited a good 8 minutes before we were acknowledged and orders taken for coffee. When the food arrived the hash browns were cold and were returned for hot potatoes! The food was overall good but the service was terrible. It's not that we didn't get refills on coffee and water it just took a long time. We had previously met the very pleasant manager who was not around on this day, perhaps the reason for the poor service. We will not rush back, but will probably go back to see if indeed we hit an off day. read more

When I read that Norms was coming to Las Vegas, I was pleased. I had been to the one on La Cienega Boulevard in Los Angeles--famous for its Googie architecture. I wanted to see however this new place wotuld stack up with what I had experienced before. The restaurant is open 24 hours a day. There were very few people when I got there a little after 8 AM. They asked where I wanted to sit, and they let me pick where that was. I picked a table in the main dining area with a view of the large counter seating. After looking over the menu, I decided to get the Melting Pot omelette. The menu has this description of the ingredients--Bacon, Link Sausage, Ham, Tomatoes, Onions & Bell Peppers with Jack & Cheddar Cheese. Served with freshly made Salsa. You have your choice of hash browns or fruit, toast or English muffin or biscuit and gravy or two buttermilk hotcakes. I got hash browns and rye toast. During the time, my server, Rickey, brought me coffee and refilled it before I needed to ask for more. The breakfast came out, and it was a plateful. Very tasty with the pieces of ham, bacon, and sausage and the cheese sometimes was stringy from being melted. Ther menu has a large number of breakfast selections so you're sure to find something you'd like. Service was excellent. This was a very pleasant surprise. We had never been to one of these restaurants before and this new one in Vegas enticed us. We had been looking for a "diner-esque" restaurant here. The menu is not only extensive, it has several original offerings. The food was reasonably priced and of very good quality. The only downside was that the restaurant was understaffed. Despite 1/3 of the tables being empty when we arrived, it took over 10 minutes to be seated (no one in front of us) and over 15 minutes to have our order taken. Norms and I go way back lol ---when I used to live in Cali our family used to eat breakfast here every chance we could so I was happy they opened one here. There is one booth that has the Las Vegas sign but if some people are sitting if you want to take a pic of the sign it's kinda awkward. Suggestion to move that sign in a different wall where its reachable like near the entrance maybe? Since there is a wall with the history of Norms it is kinda cool. but....yes there is.... NORMS Restaurant is a famous California Diner with a location here in Vegas. I only heard good things about it and saw them on multiple TV shows so I wanted to give NORMS a try. This place was very busy. They probably are always on a short wait. They offer all kinds of seating options. They have bar seating, traditional tables, cocktail tables, patio, and booths. We ordered entrees and they come with soup and salad. The soups offered weren't for me so my husband tried the gumbo and the creamy chicken noodle. He said that the gumbo wasn't awesome like Emeril's gumbo but still was tasty and the creamy chicken had a nice celery taste to it but was on thick side. He thought the soups were the best of what he tried here. I started with a salad with blue cheese dressing. I was kinda bummed because the dressing seemed thinned down and didn't taste like blue cheese...My husband tried a salad with Italian Dressing. He said that I wouldn't like that one either because it had little flavor to it. I tried the grilled wild whitefish. The fish was prepared reasonably well but lacked seasoning. It was lightly coated and a sauce of some sort would make it better. The vegetables would have been better if they weren't so over cooked. The baked potato would have been better if it was cooked till it was fluffy. Instead it was almost hard and hard to mash the butter into it. My husband tried the Chicken Fried Steak. He said it had little flavor to it. The plate would have been much better with real fresh carrots. The fingerling carrots are kinda tough and the tater tots had a very thick hard exterior. You do get a lot of food for your money here so if you aren't picky you can do well. Service was very good and even a manager checked on us. Being from LA originally, I know Norms well, having sort of grown up around it, with its iconic styling and presence for well over 50 years. For those that aren't from SoCal, you might not know Norms in the way that I recall, as a worn-in diner experience that feels both comforting and familiar in equal measures, especially after a few too many drinks or a long concert, or both. Like, I love the "idea" of Norms and how walking into one just cheers you up with it's bright orange accents and large counter so yes, I'm happy it's now in Vegas and had lots of good faith going in. The reality is, at least in it's early days as it finds it's footing, it's somewhat of a mixed bag. For example, the ambience was great and the service was super friendly but stretched a bit. Also, I think the reality is that the menu and the food felt more like an independent version of Denny's. You're not going to confuse this with Omelet House or Mr. Mamas. That said, if the choice is to go here or Denny's, I'd rather go to Norms. It's Dennys, but optimistic. My daughter ordered a regular breakfast with eggs, sausage links, hash browns and pancakes, and I had a Habenero Bacon Cheeseburger with Hash Browns. It was fine. My burger was fine. The burger was actually really spicy with a grilled chile inside the burger. The pepper (and dressings) were great but the burger meat looked and tasted a tiny bit preformed and rubbery, like those preformed bulk patties you might get at Walmart or Smart n Final and throw on the grill when you don't really care about your guests because you relish secretly being a monster. You know who you are. That said, again, it wasn't bad per se, it was just...fine. All in all, I don't think Norms is any worse than Denny's or IHOP. Just level set expectations or get super drunk late at night and then thank them profusely when they're the only diner around STILL OPEN. Yup - 24/7! read more
