Nothing fancy. Just a little ice cream stand with a mini golf course, with soft serve and hand dipped ice cream. But everything tasted great. It is what summer is all about. There are tons of photos of the menu offerings on the walls where you order, mainly combinations of soft serve and toppings. Also a photo of Mitt Romney eating ice cream, which is a meal unto itself. I'd highly recommend the strawberry-vanilla swirl soft serve ice cream. It really hit the spot. Prices are fair and there is a lot of parking. I'd come back for sure. read more

We are long time patrons of Captain sundae's but please avoid getting overcharged for baby sizes. There's only a $.25 difference between a baby size and a size small but the difference in the quantity that you get is significant. We paid $3.75 for a baby size of a sundae whIch was a small lid filled with 1/4 cup of ice cream. We paid $2.25 for my daughter's "baby size of soft serve" and it was a very small cone. (2 in long?) For nearly the same price, just buy the adult small size and throw away or share the extra. It'll feel like less of a rip off ;) read more

I live in Holland and I've been to this location many times as well as the Zeeland location. This one is my favorite because there is a lot of seating at the Holland location. There are SO many options and every treat is delicious! My favorite is the Tommy Turtle and Captain's Bouy. They also have delicious milk shakes and blizzard like ice cream treats. We take our out of town guests to Captain Sundae and they really enjoy it. I am always sad when they close for the off season. This place is unsanitary and does not care about their customers. I have a nut allergy, and normally ice cream places are good at accommodating my needs. It's as simple as changing gloves and being extra conscious- not asking for much! At least I thought... they had nuts scattered EVERYWHERE and I saw them take a spoon out of crushed Oreos and put it in the pecan bin. They don't clean their flurry mixers and my friend found m&ms in her Reese's sundae. If someone less careful than I were to come here, I fear they'd be in danger. I understand that asking for special treatment is just that, special treatment, but the customer should always come first. I would not recommend Captain Sundae. read more

Our fave! Hubby goes at least twice a week! Mini golf and nice restrooms now, too as of this year. You won't find a better selection of sundaes, that's for sure. I hit up Captain Sundae during a weekend visit to Holland from Chicago. Its ice cream creations hit the spot. And coming from Chicago I found it amazingly inexpensive. I tried a fantastic sundae that consisted of vanilla soft serve, hot fudge, almonds, and coconut. Nicely sized - big enough that it was satisfying but not too big that I felt ill afterwords - and great combination of ingredients. The soft serve is fantastic - nice and creamy and flavorful. They have a wide selection of sundaes, plus a nearly endless way you could make your own creation by picking and choosing topings. Its a small place with only outdoor seating and luckily we were there on an unseasonably warm mid-March day. Should I find myself back in Holland I will definitely be heading back there! read more
