Welp! They lived up to the hype and reviews! Located in a strip mall next to a food lion is Captain's Galley. It is Nicly decorated. They were established in 2022 and have been winning awards since then. The interior is quaint. The decor runs through out the entire restaurant. There is maybe 5-6 tables available if you plan to eat in. But they offer take out as well. The crab dip was phenomenal! They had a sampling of it being offered. It was paired with a crostini. I ordered the crab cake sandwich since I was told it's popular. I paired it with green beans. The crab cake was perfect! So much lump crab meat! It had wonderful flavor! The bun was great! It was the perfect fit for their sandwich. My friend opted for the crab imperial. She raved about her meal as well! Overall it was all fantastic and we will be returning for times to come! My partner and I just happened across the Captain's Galley during a drive through West OC. We pulled in to escape the weather. For a small carry out, the food was delicious. The crab cake was comparable to some of the best we've had as Marylanders and the hush puppies were top tier. The lady behind the counter was pleasant and the food quick came out fast. While the restaurant was small, we were able to find a comfortable spot to enjoy our meal. It was  definitely worth the stop! read more

Hole in the wall place. Went in based on all the positive review but surprised how small the place was. Somehow they got our order wrong and gave us snowcrab legs instead of crab cake. Was looking for some place with crabcakes on one of our trips to ocean city and came across this place (and even though it didn't have many reviews- it was highly rated). Located in the Food Lion parking lot off of the highway but we missed the turn the first time around. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot. There isn't much seating, maybe 4-5 seats- I think most people carry-out. They close a bit on the earlier side (7pm). First things first, their crab cake is packed with meat and a great value! Their hush puppies were *chefs kiss*. We got the Crabcake and CrabLegs ($39), Crabcake and Scallops ($32) - which both came with a side. We got the Mac N Cheese- which was the epitome of comfort food, and the potato wedges- which was a bit of a let down, it seemed like it might've been old- cold as well. The scallops came a bit later because they apparently read the ticket wrong but it was cold in the middle. We let them know, and they were apologetic and put the same thing we gave them back in the oven and gave it back to us. Appreciated the apology, but I think if we got new scallops (not the one we took a bite of and spit out) it would've been five stars. Their drinks are not fountain and from a bottle. I've been a Captain's Galley fan ever since I heard of it on a Sea Rocket tour many years ago. The original restaurant is long gone, replaced by one with a different name, and then it closed. Now it's reopened as Captain's Galley Crab Shack close to the old location just down the road. Guys and gals, these crab cakes are still the best. I sat in my car eating them. I couldn't wait to take them back to my hotel room. I literally cried while nodding my head because I remembered how good this is. These crab cakes will bring back every good memory you've ever had at the shore. You will love them if you haven't tried them. Get them broiled. You don't even need any sauce. Hand's down, the very best crab cake I have ever eaten! I think that my favorite part of the crab cake was the sear on the bottom, oh yum! This spot is mostly take out and there were a steady stream of customers coming in the entire time we were there. They had maybe four tables to enjoy eat-in style, which is what we chose. I couldn't pass up the shrimp salad there, so I chose a 1/4# to take out and enjoy the next day. And boy, did I EVER! Last, I just have to add that the desserts they had in the refrigerator case looked so good, as well and we did pay attention to the conversations of the locals, recommending this and that desserts to those first-timers. Stopped by and got the $12.99 crab sandwich specials with a sweet tea. Sweet tea was solid & Food came quick. Food: The crab cake sandwich is not it. The bread is bland and the lettuce and tomato doesn't help. If you take apart the sandwich and just eat the crab portion... a 10/10. Great quality and taste! Done really well here. Fries weren't bad. My wife just came home with two of the famous crab cake sandwiches. What a treat! It makes you glad you're in Ocean City Maryland. It's understandable that others need to compete at a price-point and they fill their crab cakes with filler, but for those who just want the best one around, this is the best one I've tasted. When my high school and college sweetheart and I got married recently, we joyously said we will be on a quest for the best crab cake. (A fun treat to search for together). It's been a lot of fun. Was looking forward to a good Crab cake during my visit to Ocean City, stopped at a local tap house next to my hotel and the crab cake was disappointing. Don't let the strip mall location fool you! On a quick search of the area I found this highly rated spot. When you walk in it's less then 6 tables and walk up counter. One man was doing it all! My husband and I were in town for the Oceans Calling Festival and since we were in MD we wanted to find the best crab cakes. The Captain's Gallery certainly delivered! For those who don't know, Captain's Galley made what was considered among the best crab cakes in Ocean City, if not THE best. This place bought the recipe and naming rights. This place makes crab cakes that are just as good as the old place, maybe even better. These were perfect crab cakes. All lump, great seasoning, and barely any filler at all - just enough to keep them together. I highly recommend the hush puppies. Not a fan of the mac n cheese (I prefer it baked), but the chips that came with my daughter's kid's meal were excellent.
