My partner and I just happened across the Captain's Galley during a drive through West OC. We pulled in to escape the weather. For a small carry out, the food was delicious. The crab cake was comparable to some of the best we've had as Marylanders and the hush puppies were top tier. The lady behind the counter was pleasant and the food quick came out fast. While the restaurant was small, we were able to find a comfortable spot to enjoy our meal. It was  definitely worth the stop!

Don't sleep on the fish sandwich. It tasted so light and fresh. Crab cakes are good but if you want something different try the fish.

Was looking for some place with crabcakes on one of our trips to ocean city and came across this place (and even though it didn't have many reviews- it was highly rated). Located in the Food Lion parking lot off of the highway but we missed the turn the first time around. Plenty of parking in the shopping center lot. There isn't much seating, maybe 4-5 seats- I think most people carry-out. They close a bit on the earlier side (7pm). First things first, their crab cake is packed with meat and a great value! Their hush puppies were *chefs kiss*. We got the Crabcake and CrabLegs ($39), Crabcake and Scallops ($32) - which both came with a side. We got the Mac N Cheese- which was the epitome of comfort food, and the potato wedges- which was a bit of a let down, it seemed like it might've been old- cold as well. The scallops came a bit later because they apparently read the ticket wrong but it was cold in the middle. We let them know, and they were apologetic and put the same thing we gave them back in the oven and gave it back to us. Appreciated the apology, but I think if we got new scallops (not the one we took a bite of and spit out) it would've been five stars. Their drinks are not fountain and from a bottle. Despite the little hiccups, would return and try again!

I've been a Captain's Galley fan ever since I heard of it on a Sea Rocket tour many years ago. The original restaurant is long gone, replaced by one with a different name, and then it closed. Now it's reopened as Captain's Galley Crab Shack close to the old location just down the road. Guys and gals, these crab cakes are still the best. I sat in my car eating them. I couldn't wait to take them back to my hotel room. I literally cried while nodding my head because I remembered how good this is. These crab cakes will bring back every good memory you've ever had at the shore. You will love them if you haven't tried them. Get them broiled. You don't even need any sauce. They're so good!

Stopped by and got the $12.99 crab sandwich specials with a sweet tea. Sweet tea was solid & Food came quick. Food: The crab cake sandwich is not it. The bread is bland and the lettuce and tomato doesn't help. If you take apart the sandwich and just eat the crab portion... a 10/10. Great quality and taste! Done really well here. Fries weren't bad. Skip the sandwich and just get crab cakes don't make the mistake I did.

Was looking forward to a good Crab cake during my visit to Ocean City, stopped at a local tap house next to my hotel and the crab cake was disappointing. Not a single lump, more like straight from the can. Being disappointed looked at some reviews on Reddit and Captain's Galley was recommended. Restaurant has small dining room more for take out. However, the crab cake delivered. Lumpy crabmeat, no filler perfection. Enjoyed every bite with my baked potato.

Don't let the strip mall location fool you! On a quick search of the area I found this highly rated spot. When you walk in it's less then 6 tables and walk up counter. One man was doing it all! We ordered a crab cake platter and a fried shrimp platter. They were insanely delicious. The crabcake had very little filler! My husband commented how meaty the cakes were! My daughter ate fried shrimp everywhere we went and dubbed these the best! Don't skip this spot!

    Lobster bisque

The best crab cake I've ever had. We did the crab cake and 1/2 pound of shrimp with Mac and cheese and the lobster bisque. We were so full and were so happy with the flavors. The service was extra friendly and efficient! We ate the food too quickly for a picture. I'll include a pix of the rich and creamy bisque!

    Crab cake sandwich. Good lump.

The Crab cake sandwich is really good. Its slightly smaller than some other places but definitely good lump meat. The service was really good.

    Delicious crab cakes and hushpuppies!

One of the great things about the wait is that the restaurant is butt up against a surf shop full of curiosities. We were promptly seated and given a drink menu with many options. We were seated in an open air spot on the water at a pub table. The menu is diverse with many options for different tastes. We ordered the fries to share as an appetizer. It was an insane portion of hand cut potatoes loaded with all of the toppings indicated on the menu. Three of us decided to split two pizzas and an order of wings for dinner, and the other ordered sandwich. The food came out, piping hot, and it was delicious. The prices are reasonable, and the parking is easily accessible. Do not go to OC without checking out this cool spot.

The ambiance alone makes it worth the visit. I stopped in for a late lunch and went with their Pick 2 lunch combo, pairing the Caesar salad with the cream of tomato soup. The Caesar was excellent: fresh, whole romaine hearts tossed in a nice tangy dressing, topped with flavorful brown bread croutons and a solid chunk of quality cheese. The cream of tomato soup was equally good, carrying over those same rich croutons and cheese to tie the meal together seamlessly. Our main motivation for visiting was to see Jordan and Cowan, both of whom previously worked at Off The Hook in Bethany Beach. Jordan noticed us first and came over to say hello and share an update, and Cowan followed shortly after to do the same. I enjoyed two Sazeracs on the rocks for $10 each; unique to Hooked, this iconic New Orleans cocktail is a spirit-forward blend of Elijah Craig rye whiskey, aromatic bitters, a sugar cube, and an absinthe rinse, finished with a bright lemon twist. We also shared the happy hour wood-fired grilled oysters Reggiano with butter, garlic, blackening parmesan cheese, and salt for $19, though they tasted very salty. Additionally, I had the happy hour lobster roll on a toasted buttered brioche roll for $21, substituting the french fries with a side of coleslaw. It tasted quite similar to the lobster roll at Off The Hook in Bethany Beach. I finished my meal with a happy hour draft Evo Lot 3 beer for $6. Our bartender, Jon L., served us very well throughout the visit. The total bill was $128 excluding gratuity, which featured a 3% credit card surcharge of $3.57. After applying a $50 gift letter discount, the final bill was reduced down to $81. We all agreed that we will certainly return to visit Jordan and Cowan again.

I also really love their fries! My husband got the Stonejack baller, it was really good as well. The portions were generous, the atmosphere was relaxed, and the inlet views made the meal even better. It's a great place to enjoy good food while taking in one of the best waterfront views in Ocean City. We came also perfect timing as they have a band singing. The only few complains I have was we waited for few minutes even they were a lot of available tables outside (not sure why-maybe reservation?) also our waitress gave us all drinks except for one, and it also took few minutes before she came back for that drink. No biggie, she seems new and nice. Also some drinks were a but water down. Will definitely be back but might try other place around as well.
