We were not alone, observing every other table, we saw similar reactions to the "Duffle" an omelette that carried flavor and texture that eclipsed any that we have had. Our children enjoyed the "Waff-cakes" a hybrid waffle pancake with whipped cream and preserves. Rounding out our selection was the Savory Lion, scrambled eggs and cheese that was decadent. Combine the food with a welcoming couple who own and operate, along with a staff that is attentive and courteous, and you have a destination that should not be missed. We also took a soup to go, Spiced Carrot Lentil, which proved to be just as delicious and hearty as our breakfast dishes.

I liked waking up early, getting a quick bite from their continental breakfast in the lobby, and then heading down to their wooden walkway to get closer to the waterfall under the bridge. The walls are kinda thin and the restaurant is very meh but overall a great relaxing experience. Actually, it's been there for 11 years. Perfect location. Just off the main area, but within walking distance to town. If you do stay here, try to get a room that faces the waterfall. Also, take the wooden walkway down to the base of the falls. We started out our morning doing so, and it was quite scenic. The rooms are big, but the walls are paper thin. Expect to hear chatter, like we experienced at 6am. Continental Breakfast was abundant with muffins, cereal, coffee and juice. -The Waterside Spa- My wife signed us up for a Couples Massage, in the middle of the afternoon. But we headed over early. Great place to lie out on the deck to catch some rays and relax. Take a soak in one of their small pools or try the sauna if you dare (at one point it was 190 degrees) The massages were nice, however the "Hot Stone" one was a little too gentle for me. You can actually spend all day here. They have a lot of places to nest, as well as a cafe. Just a 3 minute car ride. -Blackbarn Restaurant- Connected to the hotel, with the same stunning views and a great interior is "Blackbarn" After reading about the amazing and award winning chefs, I was excited to eat here. But disappointment quickly took over. My chicken tasted like it was marinated in vinegar, and the Vegetable Lasagna was made in a microwave. We ordered 2 desserts that we sent back. The pastry chef needs to be fired. This restaurant sucks.

We came for a work retreat, and the experience was great. David, the owner, went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. He was so friendly and made us feel right at home (including sharing his chill af pupper with us as we worked). My room was gorgeous, with two bedrooms and a full kitchen space, plus a balcony where I could enjoy my morning coffee while taking in the chilly mountain air. The food was absolutely delicious, easily some of the best we've had on work trips, and they were great about accommodating different diets. The property has so much to offer: fire pits, tennis courts, walking trails, old-school arcade games, and a cozy tavern area that's perfect for unwinding. Did I mention their WiFi is fast too? Though this trip was for work, I'm already planning to come back with my partner someday to enjoy it all over again. Highly recommend!

The parking lot was gravel-based, so vehicles were parked a bit haphazardly, but the lot's spaciousness ensured that it was not really an issue. The hotel was right on the stream with a lovely grassy area dotted with Adirondack chairs, hammocks, and other ways to enjoy the view. The office was located right next to that little park and was also where the continental buffet breakfast was served. The small room had a great view of the water from its few tables. The breakfast options included various hot beverages, several types of milk, yogurt, berries, granola, pastries, breads, hard-boiled eggs, lox, tomatoes, cucumbers, and more. It was really the perfect few bites to start the day with energy and wellness. While the inn had a few larger cabins, many of the rooms were supposedly rather tiny, including ours. The room had a queen-sized bed, nightstand, wall-mounted television, and wooden desk with matching chair. There was a closet with some hanging and shelving space, as well as a hair dryer and coffeemaker. The room really left a lot to be desired from a space perspective, as it was hard to navigate. For instance, the room might have come with 2 luggage racks, but there was really only space for one. The bathroom was also tiny, and it was near impossible to use the toilet without sideswiping the pedestal sink on your way. The shower was a decent size at least. The bathroom came with fluffy towels and Aveda products, which were both appreciated. We also loved that the temperature and pressure of the water were phenomenal; in fact, the shower was like a fire hose! Though the room was small, it was SPOTLESS! Also, its individual heater packed a great deal of warmth. There was not an abundance of electrical outlets, but the alarm clock had one built in, as well as two USB ports. The extremely gracious staff had also left a binder of local recommendations for us on the table. The bed, however, was lumpy, and the pillows were cheap and uncomfortable. From a location standpoint, the inn was only a few blocks from either end of town, depending on which way you wanted to travel. The residential roads were very dark at night and many did not have sidewalks, so we definitely needed to be alert walking to and from the main drag, even though we knew the town was overly safe. The Woodstock Inn on the Millstream made up for its lack of amenities and small rooms with efficient, friendly service and clear dedication to guest satisfaction.

After a few minutes we noticed a rotten smell, the cleaning person hadn't emptied the garbage after the last guests left. No problem, everyone makes mistakes. I called and spoke to Jessica who said dinner was on her and sorry for the inconvenience, (compensation not my idea). She said let her partner Jenny was at the restaurant and it would be no problem to let her know. I accepted, we went to the Griffin restaurant shortly after. I let my server know about the offer and that I was staying at the Sarah cottage. He had no idea what I was saying. He went to Jenny who told him they were offering an appetizer only, (this was after I explained what Jessica said). What started out as a nice gesture now turned into our waiter negotiating back and forth with Jenny. We didn't want any appetizers. We finally agreed on desserts instead and ordered our food. Well, just when we didn't think things could get any worse, our food arrived. Apparently we didn't see the fine print to - "chicken caesar salad", (because it was so dark, with 2 mini candles at our table), it didn't mean grilled chicken/romaine lettuce, it actually meant shredded BBQ chicken and a kale salad with a garlic ceasar dressing. My daughter and I didn't dare touch the 2 orders. Instead we picked at my husband's mac n cheese. This restaurant is trying to be a 4 star restaurant on a hot dog truck budget. The food smelled awful, the chicken had a rotten/vinegar smell to it? To make matters EVEN worse ... We were sat next to a party table that added another person. With no room at the end, this man was sort of added as a 4th person at our table sitting side ways along side our table? I managed to pull our table a little away from theirs to make room for him at the end of their table not ours. The entire time, I watched Jenny the manager pass by our table repeatedly, (I heard the staff call her Jenny, that's how I know it was her), she never came over to our table to say anything, we were ignored the entire time while she made sure to give much attention to the table next to us. We sat so long waiting for "salads & mac n cheese" that we decided to forget dessert. They compensated us with 1 salad. The best part about the Griffin restaurant was leaving. To say that Jenny was unprofessional relaying the information to a young waiter instead of speaking to us would be an understatement. The lack of any care for us as guests was worse than any place I have ever been to. Pros for the cottage: Good location, beautiful inside, no hassle "check in" Cons for the cottage: lack of attention to detail: the outside of the cottage looked like a forest/jungle, lack of landscaping. We were swarmed by mosquitoes, flys, bugs upon arrival and every time we got in/out of our car! We hiked most of our time, we didn't notice any problem at parks with bugs/mosquitoes? It seems the cottage needs some attention. Also, as a safety issue, we didn't like that anyone could see inside, no curtain on front door, back door, side door and all the door panels were glass?? This is NY and the cottage is off of a busy road after all?? Lastly, It was hard to see where to pull in from the road because vines had grown over their mailbox, and the numbers on the side were barely noticeable, I only knew from looking online that this must have been the cottage. Side note, there was no bar soap, maybe at a place like this that is not required? Not sure, but we purchased our own soap along with another roll of toilet paper....we couldn't find any extra. Just the 1 roll on there. Maybe they are trying to cut corners? We would not return and would definitely not recommend. PS Jessica, thanks for coming to get the garbage, I just wish you had thought of putting another bag in the cabinet for us, we did it ourselves, no problem. This entire stay screams lack of care. Next time we will stay at a hotel and pay extra so we won't go through this again.

We are visiting with family in town and were told about the new launch of this restaurant and we're excited to check it out. We had a 5:30 reservation and were seated right away. We were a party of 6 adults and a toddler. Our party ordered apps, we got the deviled eggs and the fried calamari. These things took 45 minutes to get to the table. Serving someone deviled eggs shouldn't take 45 minutes, and the calamari was frozen, so we are unsure why the opening of the service was so slow. It was almost as if the chef was deviling the eggs right at that time and for the amount of time we waited she would've have to have been cutting and battering a squid in the flesh which I know was not happening in there. Also, just to note the restaurant wasn't full. There were probably four other tables with diners. At this point, our toddler is starting to get increasingly restless, as it has been an hour and change, and the entrées have not been delivered yet at this time. My husband and I are taking turns to go into the lobby to distract her and get her moving so she wouldn't have a meltdown in the restaurant. We keep inquiring about where the dinner was and we're told several times "it's on its way" or "it's coming soon". Flash forward to 7:30pm. Our entrées were scattered arriving to the table, I asked the waitress where are my child's grilled cheese was and she said that she had forgot to put it in. (She did say she was sorry but when you have a hangry child sorry doesn't cut it) We waited all this time and the food for our baby's meal didn't exist. At this point, she was having a full fledged meltdown in the lobby, and so did I. I expressed great displeasure to the server and told her I needed her to box up mine and my husband's meals as soon as they arrived to the table, so we could leave to go deal with our toddler at home because she had reached her breaking point due to the long wait and lack of FOOD IN A RESTAURANT. We waited for our dinner service for two hours and the quality did not justify the long wait. Water logged canned green beans (the kind you get in a school or prison cafeteria),flavorless mashed potatoes, what looks and tastes like stove top stuffing... and the worst part about the whole experience, was not receiving proper customer service for this terrible experience. Me and my husband didn't even get to eat our meals at the table in the actual restaurant, which we were still charged for fully. My mother-in-law told me they comped the grilled cheese from the check (and again, I wouldn't know because I had to leave) but comping a $10 item that you forgot to put in, in the first place is not enough for the bad experience overall. We will never come back here. The kitchen brigade seems nonexistent or very inexperienced. Piss poor dinner service with even worse customer service.

We were only able to get a 7:30 reservation as that was the earliest available which was fine. Service started good and in the middle of our order, waitress got pulled away to served food to another table stating she would be right back. She didn't return for over 20 minutes to ask the other two at our table for their order. Not a big deal because we were not in any rush. Food was a bit slow but not unbearable, especially with Covid restrictions etc. one person in our party got dessert and a minute after we paid the bill, still with drinks half full, we were told dining room was closing. I get that they wanted to go home but the 20-30 minute delay taking our order is the only reason we were still there. (Side note, the server was very good but something sidetracked her) We will definitely return to the Bavarian Manor and I highly suggest it for a nice meal in a cool area of New York.
