Pizza after the beach? Yes please! Captiva Island Pizza is a great option for a meal while on the island if you're okay with a bit of a wait. It's definitely a hard-working small business, so they're very traditional in how they work. You can walk in and order at their window, or call in an order. They don't deliver so you have to come pick up- they're on the main road in Captiva where most of the shops are, but up on the second floor. There's no true seating inside, it's truly just to walk in, order, and then wait elsewhere. We found the literal one table outside downstairs to eat at, but other than that you figure out in your own what to do once you have the food. But let me say, I really enjoyed the pizza! The wait was worth it. It had plenty of the toppings we asked for, and the crust was the perfect thickness. We also got cheesy bread which was lovely on thick Texas toast, and dipped in marinara it was chefs kiss. Though they're small, they're a great business and it's always better to support local! Everything great. I have a lot of pizza in my life, NY style, Chicago style and all things in between. We arrived hungry and needed a quick meal, so we chose pizza. Seriously good pie. This pic is mentally 5 minutes after I arrived back with it. It went quick, should have got two! Crispy crust but still NY style, folded and ate. We got some takeout pizza one night while staying on South seas. The pizza was pretty tasty and ready right on time. It's a good option for some pizza on a night when you don't want to go out for a more expensive dinner. There was a gentleman working there that made it a very uncomfortable experience I must report. So I said hey can I have some Parmesan cheese and some red pepper seeds to which he responded no we don't have any and he said your pizzas over there and there's the door and looked at me like he was going to kill me...... Fearing for my life (seriously) I left but I was definitely a bit taken aback. Also the guy in front of me spilled a drink and he basically threw a mop at the customer and told him he better not miss a drop I really don't want to take this out on the restaurant because it most likely doesn't represent the owners philosophy so I'm gonna keep the rating high and chalk it up to he's having a bad week. read more

Haha! This place is apparently well known for its comedically miserable owner/employee. Word around town is that his parents own most of the commercial real estate on Captiva and since their son made nothing better of himself, they allow him to run a pizza store on the second floor of one of these buildings. As such he doesn't need to care about any culture of customer service or generally acting like a decent human being toward others. One day he'll have a big inheritance as long as he keeps running this blasted pizza shop! The hours might be erratic, the service might be cruel and unpleasant, but you might occasionally get a decent pizza. Enjoy! read more

I've never left a negative review on yelp. I try to use this app as an opportunity to brag on good experiences I've had. However- Today after making around 12 phone calls to this place, we decided to walk in and order. We were immediately asked by the man with a ponytail behind the counter to leave the building and "wait 5 minutes" before we could come back in. Confused I asked him if we could give our order and he replied "no, I asked you to go outside and you're still standing here staring at me". The man was belligerent, short, and threatened me. I legitimately thought he was going to fight me in the restaurant.... And frankly I was angry enough to oblige. I'm not the only one who's encountered this- I attached a snapshot of another review. We walked outside and waited 5 minutes (partially out of spite). He then opened the door and lied about being out of pizza dough- denying us service. Visited Captiva twice this trip and really enjoyed the pizza. We were staying at Tween Waters and decided to pick it up and head to the room. Tonight was our first experience ordering from Captiva Pizza. We ordered garlic cheesy bread which was really really tasty. This was our favorite thing seasoned just right with garlic, the right amount of melted cheese, and a good amount of tomato sauce to dip it in. This was a large enough portion to share. We will definitely order this again. We ordered the 16 inch Cannonball Pizza which is with italian sausage, ham, pepperoni, meatballs, onions and black olives. We ordered ours without the sausage. This pizza was pretty good, plenty of cheese and toppings. The meatballs were fine but not my favorite and the crust was tasty and flimsy so it had to be folded up or eaten with a fork. The restaurant was not able to offer delivery tonight but we are staying 5-6 minutes away by car so not a big deal at all. My son and friends are on spring break on Captiva while staying in our beach home. Per our suggestion they tried ordering from Captiva island pizza. They could not get an answer on the phone to place an order so they went in person. There are very few restaurants on Captiva open so I'm so thankful for the ones that are. We got hungry mid day while at the beach and one of my family members found this place. We couldn't get through via the phone so my sister in law drove over there not knowing that they close at a certain time mid day.
