This is a review posted for my brother's experience here. He doesn't do Yelp, but I wanted to make sure this Goodyear location got their shoutout! They're very honest and upstanding, which is apparently hard to come by when it comes to servicing cars! The Zimbrick Honda dealership's service center (the one on Grand Canyon Drive) in town told my brother that his car was leaking transmission fluid from the axle seals. They also mentioned that his air intake hose was about to tear, and it needed to be replaced immediately. Both of these were strange findings as his car is not that old and has relatively low mileage. So, he took the car to Goodyear to get another quote and a second look. The dealership quoted him for $840 for the transmission fluid issues, while the folks at Goodyear quoted him for literally HALF THE COST of the dealer. However, they also said they couldn't find a leak. Apparently, his car's seals were totally fine. As for the air intake hose, Goodyear found that it's only slightly worn from weather and time, but it looks fine. The mechanic at Goodyear said they wouldn't recommend my brother to go out of his way to replace it until a light comes on for it on the dashboard of the car. Wow, the dealership completely tried to rip him off! BONUS: They're so honest and standup at this Goodyear that they went one step further to say that they weren't comfortable charging him with anything because no services needed to be done. They didn't even charge my brother for the part they ordered because they will just send it back for him at no cost. How amazing are they, right?! This is how you build a loyal customer base. This is how you get customers to come back time and time again. All it takes is honesty and offering fair prices for good service. Took vehicle here for leaking oil filter. They tightened the oil filter and drain plug, degreased area and confirmed no more leak and charged me $40. There was more oil under my car the next day, so I took it back. They said the technician forgot to tighten the oil filter, but they took care of it and confirmed no leak. There was still oil leaking the following day. Had to take it to a different shop to have the issue properly fixed. Goodyear also tried charging me the second time to fix their mistake. I stopped here after getting a flat tire hoping for basic help putting on my spare. Instead, I was told they didn't have the staff or tools to help. What was even more surprising was that they wouldn't even lend me a tire iron so I could change the tire myself in their lot. I understand if a shop is busy and can't take on additional work, but refusing to even lend a simple tool to someone stranded with a flat tire shows a pretty shocking lack of basic decency and customer service. It would have taken them nothing to help someone in a tough situation. If this is how they treat people who walk in needing help, I would seriously question trusting them with anything more serious. read more

I was sold a hazard protection policy with my new tires without my knowledge. I am disappointed the Road Hazard Protection policy was added to my purchase of 4 tires without asking if I wanted it ($143.96.) The employee on the paperwork I stupidly signed was Tim.C. My husband and I never purchase protection policies. We pick quality products taking our chances should something fail. I know I would have turned down a protection policy if offered one. Alas, I only discovered I'd bought a policy because one tire went completely flat (an imbedded screw was found as the cause)only 12 days after buying the tires. When I was not charged for the screw damage repair at this same shop, I commented to Misty at the desk, "Nice this was free!" She said, "yes, good thing you bought the Road Hazard Protection policy." Ohhhh.... How maddening! I will be reading my estimates and work orders more carefully from now on. We're inclined to get oil changes and tire work/replacements done elsewhere, even though we've used this shop for 10 years. read more

I had to get new front tires after getting a tear in my drivers side tire. They said they only had one size of tire in the shop that was available. When they were done the total was $635 for two tires. They also told me I needed to replace my back tires asap but after taking it to another tire place, they told me that they put the wrong size tires on the front, and that my back tires were fine and didn't need to be changed. Be warned!! They will try and scam you out of all your money. read more

My daughter had a flat tire. We had her car towed here & they were very upfront that it could be a couple of days before they could get to it, short staffed & booked up. We were very happy when they called the next day to let us know the tire had been replaced. They checked the other tires & they were in good shape. We highly recommend this Goodyear Auto Service location. The staff was friendly, the downtown location is convenient, the service was excellent & price was reasonable. I go here for routine maintenance on my car i.e. oil changes, tire rotations, alignments. The coupons/deals they have posted on their website make their pricing options a lot better than similar services in the area. I've never had an issue here, although only go for that routine maintenance. They often make recommendations for more work at checkout, but these can either be done yourself for cheaper (wiper blade replacement) or are not that important (cleaning out the cabin ventilation system). The nice thing is if you do end up needing one of those recommended services, the estimate is already in writing on the receipt packet they give you and you can use it to compare with other places. For more serious car repairs, I will often shop around and get estimates from other shops. I cannot say I've had a major repair done at Goodyear. Everything is by the book here and the service is quality. read more

On two separate occasions I have visited this Goodyear for leaky tires. The first time they told me that they couldn't find any leaks and believed it was caused by corrosion on my rim. $80. My tire was flat again the next morning. Took it in and they found a nail and patched it up for "free", just the cost of the previous $80. The next occasion (a different tire) the team was quick and patched my tire after saying they found a small screw for $20. Next morning my tire was flat again. I take it back in and they tell me the hole was too big for a patch and needed to totally replace my tire. $250. I would not trust this place to get any real work done on my car if they can't even fix a leaky tire. read more

needed a Basic tire change. no one in line ahead of me. i had made an appointment online, dropped it off at noon. empty shop. they told me 1 hr. 2 hours go by, ok fine. 3? hmmm...walked by several times and saw it up on the lift, with no one working on it. checked in on them several times, gave me unclear information and vague excuses. "uh, the computer was frozen". it was basic tire change and it wasnt ready until 4pm. im in town to see family and they wasted an entire day on me. basic tire change took 4 hours? ridiculous. bad service. fromt desk guy was cordial enough. but dont go here, your personal time is too valuable for how they treat it. read more

I was referred to Goodyear by another local mechanic who I really trust who couldn't fit me in on my timeline for an oil change before a very long road trip! That endorsement alone meant so much to me! While I was in the waiting room I overheard many examples of exemplary customer service. It seems that people who work here enjoy their job and it really shines through in he way they treat their customers. I ended up going back here for tires and I got the best price for a great brand of tires installed! I also got a rebate which was a nice surprise! They told me of a few issue I was aware of while I was there to get my tires worked on and gave me a very fair quote. I also received an offer for a percentage off in the mail later that month which I will likely take them up on as soon as I am in a position to do so. Thanks for the great products and services. I am writing about 3 great experiences I had at Goodyear in the past couple weeks. I recently moved to Madison and within my first couple weeks noticed that two of my tires didn't appear to be holding pressure well, even though there were no visible signs of nails or items causing this issue that I could see. I brought my car in (with non-Goodyear tires) and they were able to check out my tires out for free. They let me know that there were slow leaks in both of them, and that they had fixed them, and they also inquired when the last time I had my car aligned was. The tire service was free (standard offering) and it had been a while since my lsat alignment, so I gave them my business and let them do a 4-tire alignment for $90. I thought it was a very reasonable price. A couple months later I had my first flat tire. I was getting gas and noticed that it was completely flat - I was able to change it and get back on the road easily, but I called Goodyear on the drive back to Madison from work to see if they could look at it today. I called at 6:45 and they closed at 7, but they said they were willing to take a look at it if I could get there before closing. I pulled up at 6:55 and the two guys working went through all the motions to check the tire out. They found a rim leak and were able to repair it in 20 minutes and also made sure that the tire I changed was tightened properly. They were very friendly and even answered my nosy questions as I inquired about the process they were following to check my tires. All of this work after-hours for free and with two friendly handshakes and smiles as I left at 7:30pm totally repaired! A few days later I noticed that my car was pulling to one side - I wasn't sure if it was a tire issue or a result of the bumpy and pothole-ridden downtown streets so I called Goodyear again. Within 6 months of an alignment, they do re-alignments for free so I set up the earliest appointment I could get, on a Wednesday morning. I was travelling for work that week, so they arranged for me to drop my car off on Monday morning and pick it up on Friday morning when I returned. Each night they pulled my car into the garage for safety, and when it came time for my appointment they said they would call before making any repairs for a cost. Luckily, they confirmed that my tires were not leaking and it was simply a re-alignment that was easy for them to do, and free of charge under my warranty. At this point, I've probably interacted with most of the Goodyear staff - and all of them have been wonderful to work with. The car they've been servicing is 12 years old and my first car, so I am always cautious to have it looked at by new shops, but Goodyear has earned my trust. I'd recommend them to anyone in the area! My family and I stopped in Madison on our way to visit House on the Rock. After eating downtown, we got back to the car and found our check engine light was on. I called Goodyear Auto Service on Washington Avenue and was warmly greeted. The manager on duty explained that while they might not be able to get to it today (it was already 2PM) they would hook it up to the computer and let us know. When we arrived they immediately looked at the codes (turned out to be a voltage problem with the oxygen sensor) and let us know it shouldn't impede our trip, and schedule something with our mechanic once we return to Chicago. They also checked our tires, and refused to accept any sort of compensation for their time. I feel very grateful for their help; our vacation was almost side-tracked. read more

I took our VW Passat here on Wednesday to get the oil changed. They squeezed me in, and rotated the tires too. Cool. As I was driving to Minneapolis on Friday, however, the plastic bottom covering the engine/oil area (or whatever is down there, I don't really know) began to fall off. Eventually, I had to stop at a random dealership right outside of Eau Claire so that they could remove the rest of the plastic, which had been dragging on the highway. I called Goodyear, and Polly basically said "oh yeah, we noticed that the bolts were stripped that hold it on, we shouldn't have put it back on." This is a common problem with VWs, and it's really not a big deal - the plastic isn't necessary for the car, it's just a pain when it actually falls off and drags. What I don't understand is why they put it back on when it was obvious to them that it wasn't going to stay on. So now it's back at Goodyear for the day. They are putting a new cover on, for free of course. read more

Polly is THE BEST, you guys! She really is - her customer service skills are beyond excellent and her employees truly follow suit. I have been to Goodyear for oil changes & new tires and every time I have a positive experience. They don't over-charge and they explain every piece of what they did so that there's no confusion on the total cost of your repairs. I purchased 4 new tires back in Nov. 2014 during one of their fall sales and I received an incredible deal. They even stayed late to repair my frozen suspension. I will be back. Honestly I started going here for the sole reason that it's close to my work, but I've also been really happy with them as a customer! They're always willing to check out a low tire or minor issue for no charge, they worked to find me a great deal when I needed all four tires replaced, they've always been super prompt and responsive in the 3-4 years I've been taking cars here. It seems like some of the bad reviews on here are from people who needed more general mechanical work, and for those kinds of issues I'd probably still go to a non-chain mechanic, but for tire and alignment-related services I've been really happy with them, even calling ahead and going in same-day. read more

I am really disappointed in Goodyear and will no longer be returning for services. I came in with concerns about my brakes, as I noticed that when I went over bumps, sometimes it felt like my brakes were going out for a second. They told me that I needed new front struts and an alignment, which I agreed to do. The moment I drove out of Goodyear, I noticed that, not only was the problem I came in with not fixed, but I now had a new problem: I noticed the sound of my tire rubbing against the car, especially when I went over bumps. After blowing way too much money just for them to cause further issues with my car, I held off on reaching back out to them until I actually knew what the problem was. Instead, I reached out to Dutch's Auto Service (they were wonderful!) to have them do my brakes and to see if they noticed what the problem was. Dutch's did my brakes without a problem and let me know that the "new" front struts I had paid for at Goodyear were faulty. Finally believing I knew what the problem was, I reached out to Goodyear to have them fix the problem they caused. Although they replaced the faulty strut, the fact that they gave me a bad strut in the first place points to their dishonest ways of doing business. In addition, they said that the sound of the tire rubbing against the car was due to a dent in the front bumper. When I asked if they caused this dent (since the sound coming from the tire started happening immediately after I left Goodyear), they denied it. When I asked them to fix the damage they caused, they told me that I should have come in sooner and that only a body shop could fix the damage. So not only did they fail to fix the problem I came in with, they gave me a faulty part, caused damage to my vehicle, and refused to fix or pay for the damage they caused. read more

My partner and I went to this shop with our '02 Civic for two years and had no problems - it was close to home, and we didn't know anything else in the neighborhood. We thought it might be a little more expensive than some shops but everyone was nice, polite, and the work got done. Since February, 2011, we've had nothing but trouble. I don't know if the folks there saw protest signs in our vehicle and didn't approve or if we had just been lucky before that time, but we've had a string of things that were done incorrectly or just not done (necessitating another visit - sometimes for free, often the same day) culminating in a stabilizer bar replacement and tire rotation this summer after which they did not balance the tires. I found this out by driving to Ohio the next day. The car shook violently starting at about 50mph, a speed I rarely hit on a daily basis. My mother's mechanic was appalled, and my vehicle may need more front end work eventually because of this boneheaded mistake. Worst of all, when we called to complain, Polly treated us like we were totally unreasonable for being upset, and told us "oh, we don't do tire balancing unless you ask." We're shopping for a new mechanic now. read more

This review is based on two separate service visits at this site. In both cases, the staff was extremely friendly, responsive, and thoughtful. My first visit was an 'emergency' tire repair. They had my tire repaired in less than 30 min. The best part: THEY DIDN'T CHARGE ME FOR THE FIX! That's right. Out the door for 0$. What an awesome way to build business (I'm now feeling guilty for waiting so long to write this review...). My second visit was related to the brakes on my 1995 GMC K1500. The brakes were completely shot. They finished the job in less than 24hrs, and the total cost came in $300 less than the original estimate. I'll looked into how much the parts would have cost me to do the repairs myself, and it was barely less than what they charged me. Brakes are now great. Seriously awesome service, fair prices, and quality work. Couldn't be happier with this place. Will always take my vehicles here from now on. read more

They tightened it free of charge, had it in and done within 15 mins and all around friendly professional service. They had a ton of inventory with many price options and I was able to get an oil change too. These guys were great!! We were driving from UW Hospital back to Chicago and the tire sensor came on just as we were driving by the Goodyear shop. We pulled in, explained our story and they got us in right away. The tire stem went bad just at the right time. They fixed it by the time we finished lunch at a local restaurant. They have a policy that they fix tires for free, to help create loyal customers. Everyone I came in contact with was friendly and helpful. I would go back there in a heartbeat! read more

My 14 year old GMC truck began stalling as I neared my son's dorm to pack him up and drive home to Kansas City from Madison, Wi. When I called Goodyear I spoke with Rufus, who kindly settled me down and got me right in for service. He even covered my ride back to the dorm to pack up while the car was being fixed. After the mechanic called and explained the problems & that they had all the necessary parts we got it fixed and going that afternoon. Excellent experience!!! Thad and Polly took great care of me! I set up my appointment and ordered my tires, oil change and new wipers online. What I didn't realize is that I ordered the wrong tires, Thad let me know right away and had the tires I needed in stock so it was no big deal, except for my ego, I felt like a moron. These guys are honestly the best. I have taken my car there numerous times and Polly and Thad have done everything within their power to help me, get me in and out on time, and get my car fixed well. Its so reassuring to know I can call there in a panic with car issues at any time and as long as they are open (extended hours on Monday nights as I found out with my car issue last night) they work their magic to get me in and get everything taken care of. Just last night I took my car in and the shop on the West Side couldn't get it in until Thursday! Thad from Goodyear called this morning after I left it there last night, gave me the run down (in lamens terms I could understand) and is now working with my warranty company to go through all the hoops to get me a reduced price.
