Had a 2019 f-250 with manual windows and locks. Had car toys put in power locks and windows. Absolute nightmare! Locks have gone out in the back 3 times. Each time the law quits working it's usually six months after warranty. They then want to charge me over $250 to fix what they have installed wrong. I went with an independent person and he showed me where they messed up on the installation. He then charged me less than half the cost they charge to fix what they did wrong. I will never go back to these people and will use my new source to fix their problems. Do not take your vehicle to car toys unless you want problems. That has been my experience and I will never go back to this place ever again. In particular, Jansen Beach store in Portland, Oregon. I got a Groupon for headlight restoration at the Jantzen Beach Car Toys for $48 and thought I'd give it a try. They don't take reservations for this service, only walk-in, so I got there when they opened at 9 am and they got me right in. One hour later the headlights look like new. The staff was friendly and efficient. When the headlight lens get cloudy again in a few years, I'll be back. read more

I had several not so positive experiences at this location while I had an intoxiloc device in my vehicle. The device was installed at a different location and a little over 6 months later they "installed" a deck, Amp and sub in the same vehicle. I don't know why I didn't check the install at the time. They basically charged us something like $500 to drill 4 unnecessary hole in my trunk, not reinstall the trim correctly and run a power wire from the battery to the Amp. The Amp was never bolted down, there is no wiring to the individual speakers from the Amp, it was not complete. They even called and asked for extra time on the front speakers because the brackets had the stock speakers riveted into them. They said they had to build custom spacers. Didn't happen. Extremely disappointed with Car Toys -- requesting a refund I don't normally leave reviews, but this experience deserves attention. This first started last summer when we replaced our boats stereo. First time taking it out nothing worked so sound. And the technician installed the cover for the head unit inside down. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago we took the boat in to trouble shoot the issue. -Was told one of my two amps was bad and recommended replacement. The new amp was going to run the tower and larger amp would run rest of the boats speakers. $1,700 was spent on this. They also said they would add a knob to allow the power being send to the tower speakers to be adjusted on the fly. -When I arrived the technician said they decided to pull my other amp and go with just one. They said my larger amp was too powerful along with the new amp and it had enough power by itself to do the job. Nobody called to ask or give input, they said the bass knob would be ready for when we wanted to add subs etc. - We took the boat out yesterday and the entire sound system shut down. I called ALL Car Toy locations across PDX to ask for help fix the issue. Every location told me "we don't have enough technicians on Sundays for walk ins." - So I called a competitor who has multiple locations in the area and they told me to bring it down. I sat in the boat with two technicians for 40 minutes while they went over every inch of my boats audio system. 1. Pointed out the amp installed was not marine grade and didn't have enough power for 8 speakers and two tower speakers. 2. The amp failed and was dead and had to be replaced. After 3 weeks of purchase, and 3 trips on the river? 3. To top it off they pulled up the front two seats and wires are over the openings so you can't even put items in the locker and eventually the wires are going to break. This is above unacceptable service and quality of product and installation. I'm requesting a full refund and hoping someone from corporate actually takes customer service seriously. Until then, I can't recommend Car Toys to anyone. Do better read more

Got my Tesla Model 3 ceramic tinted and detailed with a ceramic coat here recently. I recommend scheduling out for a time where you can be without your vehicle for 4 days because the detail takes a while to complete. It was totally worth it as the car looks amazing. The level of tint was exactly what I was hoping for and the detailing made my car look brand new. They even helped me out by putting on the aftermarket spoiler I bought 3rd party. We had it installed and we went home and noticed the same exact system listed online was on sale $499 INSTALLED. Went back for their "Low Price Guarantee" and Travis told me it was a "More Complicated" install. B.S. it was a simple pickup truck. All I have to say is do your research online before having any work done. This was the one time I didn't research and regretted it. Jantzen Beach Car Toys. Yes I did come in and talked to Travis the sales person and asked for an adjustment. I did mention to Travis that I called every other Car Toys in Portland who all stated the 2003 Pickup is a standard installation. Bullying?? I think Not. Threat about posting? Not my style. I got a FORD F-150 2004 Truck as my first car to drive, I know little to nothing about it (still learning as we speak). It's got a PIONEER NAV on it, for three straight years I could not get the Bluetooth to work. I asked my gramps for help and he suggested Car Toys. My head unit died just as we were headed out on a road trip... ya,, good thing my wife and I really like each other. So, first thing the morning after getting back I went to car toys in Jantzen Beach as I'd had had good service and prices there in the past. I wasn't disappointed at all!! John helped me choose a deck in my price range and got me all sorted. Went to pay and set up an install appointment, as, no way could I get it done right away, right?? NOPE, WRONG!! They took my Tundra right back and slapped that new deck in. Took just under two hours and I was happily on my way. I had a Kenwood monitor and receiver with backup camera installed in my 2012 ram 1500. Went in on Sunday, Angel helped my wife and I decide which one would be best and gave us a great deal. We decided to come back Monday morning for the install. She had everything pulled and ready for us. The next day I planned to stay. Travis told me they did not have the monitor we wanted so he offered to upgrade it at no extra cost. The installer, Keegan, told me what he was going to do and how long it should take. He was done right on time and Travis took me out to help pair my phone and show me all of the functions. Great job and great customer service. After shopping at a few places for a car stereo, I was quoted a price that was $100 less. I had told the installer that I had a backup camera in my Toyota to consider. After selecting the stereo I wanted, the installer removed my cars backup camera and installed the unit I purchased, without telling me that he would do that. After waiting two hours for the installation, and seeing that the backup display was removed, I complained to him and the manager. The installer admitted the mistake was his, and would replace it with a unit that had the backup camera display with one that was the same price. However, I was required to pay an additional $160 which covered an additional installation charge on top of the first $330 installation fee. Yet the replacement unit cost was the same as the stereo unit he recommended. Not only do I have to bring it back and wait another two hours, but had I known the actual cost I would spend upfront, I could have chosen a stereo that included a CD player for the same price. The person who attended me was really short with me today and had a really bad attitude like he didn't want to be there. I'm usually one for empathy, but the last thing I needed was another white man giving me attitude for something I didn't even do. Whenever stressed him out doesn't give him the right to be rude and disrespectful to me. I told him nevermind and was walking out of your store. 2 stars only because they were fast at fixing an issue. We went in on Black Friday to purchase a new car stereo for my car with Apple CarPlay. They up sold me on a wiring harness because according to them my factory USB doesn't transmit data to my stereo when it does and that's how I'd been playing music all along. But we weren't in the mood to argue. An hour into my install they called me to try to sell me on tinted windows. Then told me it would be another hour for my install to be done (then called me 20 mins later to say it was done). The kicker to all of this is I then had a missed call from them at 9:48pm with no voicemail. They called again at 9am the next day to accuse me of hitting one of their employees trucks on my way out. I told them I didn't hit anyone and that there was no damage to my car. They said my car "fit the description" and they had "camera proof". Then they texted me from a private cell of the employee asking for picture proof of my car. Accusing someone of a hit and run is a serious accusation and they went about it all wrong. My Apple CarPlay stopped working that day so of course I had to take my car back. I told them I wasn't comfortable coming in since Mitch was accusing me of something I didn't do but I had no choice. I've yet to receive an apology for the rude accusation and they don't even have cameras on their store front. If this was something that truly happened then they should have the police do the investigating, not calling and texting their customers accusing them with no actual proof. I won't be back. I opted for the basic interior detail, as that's what was available via my Groupon voucher, and I didn't have time for the next-level upgrade. I had seen some negative reviews on this site, so was originally concerned that the quality for the basic interior detail would be poor, but when I returned, my car looked immensely better. I'm planning on returning to get upholstery and carpet deep-cleaning done when I have more time. (Note that apparently you can do a la carte detailing, rather than a full detail). Bailey did a great job of explaining my options so that I know what to order next time, and great work on the detail, and the rest of the team was friendly and courteous too. I had scheduled to do a full deck and speaker installation on my 2008 Honda CRV Aug 27, 2020. Dropped the car off and they told me that they will get it done the same day but will take up to their closing time (7pm)to finish the job since they are busy. Got a call in the afternoon that my headlights were a little blurry and if i'd like to get them restored as well. I gave in to the upsell since they were blurry anyways. 7pm, came back to the store, keys were handed back to me to which i paid my $800+ dues. The guy didn't really bother to come show me the job done or anything. I was very excited so i just went out, started the car, plugged my AUX cord (new deck was not bluetooth compatible) and realized immediately that I can't stream spotify from my phone. Went back inside and the guy told me that my old AUX port is no longer active and I have to use a female USB port that they threaded through my glovebox (See photo). It looks very tacky and pinches the cord when the glovebox opens/closes. He said I needed a USB-sync to be able to play music. I said okay, since it's closing time, I'll purchase one and come back another day since they did not have one in store. A couple of days, headaches, and multiple online orders/store runs later, I still couldn't stream any music. Came back to the store Sep 2 and told the store about my frustration. Brad, the assistant manager, told me that to be able to play music through my phone again, I needed to run an aux cord from behind the deck, thread it out the glove box like the USB-sync, and since it's an "add-on", I'd have to pay another $55 for half an hour of labor. This is the point where my frustration doubled because I just didn't understand why I have to pay another fee for a job that was not done correctly. I am not able to access the functionality of the product they installed, therefore, it needs to be resolved hence the $800+ I paid. Brad said he understands my frustration but they are not the "experts" on the stereo [Car toys offers installation plus you don't need certification to understand that an AUX cord is required to play music] I'm not a confrontational person nor do I want to cause a scene for a poorly mismanaged job so I agreed to pay the additional $55 to get it over with. He said he'll also move the USB-sync to where it doesn't pinch on the glove box anymore. An hour after-got my car back--the USB sync cord is STILL pinched in the glovebox [see photo]. He said he "didn't know I wanted it moved"--he offered it and I said yes. I am proud that I didn't explode in anger or said anything mean. I just walked away. Sometimes it takes humility to admit fault instead of burying a mistake with another. I know they were busy and probably miscommunicated but still. I know there are a lot of hardworking people in this place and this review may impact them negatively but I don't have any other recourse. I have stated my case and they won't listen to me nor do they seem empathetic to the situation. Good afternoon, I usually don't leave too many reviews unless the place is exceptional or bad. This place is very very bad. I brought in my 1999 Range Rover to them for a new deck. Nothing fancy, just a plain single din simple affair as the manufacturer speakers were still sounding great; I just wanted Bluetooth and calling capabilities. Now don't get me wrong they were very friendly; however at the end there is a Hum in the stereo. That being said they even sold me two cancelers for 15.95 each. When I decided to go back and get a refund their response; you can get your money back on the deck but the labor is already done. Yes incorrectly. Part of their brand is the fact they have experience installing stereos and can do so for less based off their experience; they don't believe in their brand as they will not live up to their refund policy of 30 days. They don't live up too their hype as they can't do a simple install without properly completing it. Then they want to have you throw more money at the issue. If they really had the experience they advertise looking at the car and completing a few minor test to see if there were any issues with what they were going to put in. Also I went to another shop who specializes in range rovers. They have repaired a lot of car toys issues with rovers. They don't know how to wire this brand in particular. In whole my stereo was 268.87 with install; they were willing to refund 79.99. Their is nothing on their receipt that states the labor isn't refundable; their brand is horrible....... PS; their are multiple work around for this... theirs we will re-wire.... and charge..... Had they said that up front in the beginning........... different outcome instead of customer frustration. These guys tried to sell me on some stuff that i absolutely did not need. Not only that but they lied to me telling my amp i asked them to install was broken... i took it home and plugged it into an already wired system and guess what? The amp wasn't broken at all. These guys wasted 4~ hours of my time and tried to scam me. They lied to me and my friend who also works on sound systems when we told them what we needed done and they swore that it wouldn't work. I highly suggest not going to these dudes ever. You could get more quality work done at stereo king as i have in the past. Not to mention they did not consider saving me any space in my trunk nor did they think about running the wires nicely. I would add the video of my amp working but it won't let me. I paid over $100 for a car detailing but nothing was done in my car! The services listed are Vacuuming for seats, carpet, trunk, or rear cargo area Cleaning and dressing of dash, vents, instruments, and trim Cleaning of all cloth and leather Hot water extraction for carpets and mats Door jamb and window cleaning Ozone deodorizing treatment. But when I got my car back nothing was clean! My leather hadn't even been wiped! My child had left a small yogurt hand print on one of the back seats and it was still there! My whole cargo area hadn't been touched either! We found pieces of paper/ garbage under the driver and passenger seats! All my vents are dusty as before. I just bought this car two days ago and needed anything from previous owners cleaned out but yet I have to do it myself although I PAID for this company to do it. The first person we met was Jarrod, he was open, upfront and clear with what could be managed for an appropriate budget. After talking about what I expected and found suitable in a system, Jarrod designed a setup that would give the maximum while leaving nothing by else desired. The installers Mitch and Gus decided to squeeze me in once they heard I had just got this car after not owning a vehicle in 8 years. They took their time and made sure that the system by the end would be balanced, fun but versatile to my genre hopping needs. I have been nothing but all smiles since settling in with the new setup and any playback I wish to play sounds like an intimate and awesome concert for two. Even when I experienced some issues with slight feedback they were quick to jump on the problem and find a solution in very little time. Their times work between each other is one of trust and hardship and they really come together to get things done for each and every customer. It's possible Car Toys of yesteryear might have had experienced a "funk", I can't say that's the case now with how attentive and open they were to my many questions. I would give Car Toys a look and be surprised that you may actually get what you're looking for and come away with a great deal in the end. Between Jarrods great customer service, Angels breakdown of dynamax, Mitch and Gus's hustle in the turn around and Mitch's enthusiasm when giving me a demo and showing me what the system was capable of, I struggle to think of something that could top this experience. Terrible customer service. I paid 80 dollars for the interior of my Honda Accord to be detailed, not a large vehicle to begin with and 20. For a ride home after drop off. My car was there from 9 am to 730 pm. Noone ever called to say come get it. I went to pick it up, the floors weren't even vacuumed, stuff all over the leather seats still not cleaned,stuff in the cup holders. Detailer was gone, no manager. I received a rear view mirror dash cam for Christmas. I finally had a chance to get it installed. My first choice was Car Toys in Hayden Island. I brought the new in the box rear view mirror cam, opened it for the installer. He quoted me $325.00 to install it!!!!!!! He said, this is tough and would take 3 hours! THE WORST DETAILING JOB EVER. DO NOT GO HERE. My husband bought the group, which only covered vacuuming and wiping down the plastic components (and it wasn't cheap!). Once he discovered that, he paid an extra $45 dollars to have the front upholstery shampooed (he knew this was really all I wanted). When I picked up my car, I could literally pick up dirt in the footwells, and I informed that the center console is not included in the shampooing as a rule of thumb. It really was the worst customer service in addition to poor craftsmanship. I don't understand how they stay in business. I had gone there for a Black Friday deal that was listed " $269 for KENWOOD Stereo and free installation" And so when the guy came to ring me up of course it came to $390. Gee I wonder why its that much. I spoke with one of the guys over the phone and he said it was $100 to pay the installers. That's false advertising, if it says free installation you shouldn't charge customers more money then what is advertised. And on top I paid extra $100 for the steering wheel adapter. Plus on my end of receipt it does not show the breakdown of what was charged. I wouldn't go back here for anybody looking at there deals advertised. GO somewhere else! read more
