I have been coming here for more than a decade. They came recommended by a close family member. They are straight shooters who seem to pride themselves on being honest and fair. Please never get any service here - it's the only recompense I'll ever receive for my nightmare. I got an oil change here a year ago and specifically asked for a thorough inspection. The owner assured me that with every oil change they do a 12 point inspection. I checked my tires right after the oil change and the left side was 10 PSI off from the right side - they didn't check anything! And on top of that, my next oil change I went to a Buick dealer - and the owner told me the soundshield on the bottom of the Verano had been cut! Instead of removing it to drain the oil CarX cut it without my consent - and now deny it of course. And the oil change at the dealer was cheaper!! read more

I am so relieved to have found a group of decent, honest mechanics. As a female I often feel like I am treated like a total idiot when I take my car to get it serviced. I have been here twice, and so far I plan on always going here. The staff is friendly, they explain any issues in a way that is easy to understand and doesn't make me feel incompetent (a miracle!), they seem happy to take the time to answer questions, AND they have great pricing. Best of all, they present you with all your options, rather than just the most expensive ones. N the interest of a fair and balanced review, I do have 2 complaints. One, I called ahead to make an appointment, but I still ended up being taken care of in the order I got there. That is fine, I didn't have to wait all that long..but what's the point of taking appointments? The other con is that I had to use the restroom and their restroom was beyond disgusting. It really does not get better than this when it comes to auto service. I have been going here for two years now and have always felt that they were completely honest with me. They have incredible customer service, if something is wrong with your car they will personally show you exactly what's wrong. If you don't understand something they will gladly take the time to explain it to you and help you understand exactly what they are doing. The manager (Scott, I believe) is one of the most friendly genuine people you will meet. If you come in a few times he will no doubt remember you. Every time I go in for service we usually just chat until the car is fixed. I've never had any problems with any of the repairs, you can tell they take their time to make sure they get things done right the first time. I trust them with my car. My mom and I have been loyal to Car X in Newport for some years now, as we have developed a relationship based on TRUST with them, especially manager Scott, who will tell us to hold off on something if need be, or how long we can we can get by on something for, instead of reaching deeper into our pocketbooks. Mom is retired and depends on trust for her vehicle(s) and we go nowhere else but here. Rather it be an oil change, helping us immediately if we swing by to have a tire pressure fill, or back when we had a 2000 Elantra we had to keep patching up until we were able to donate it and get a new car, Scott and crew NEVER once lied to us, did any kind of unnecessary upselling (thats the crap that keeps folks away from places), or insisted on doing something that couldnt hold on for a little bit or til the next paycheck. In this business where every corner has a place u can go to for the same stuff, we consider CarX newport ky the only place to go to, and not have to wonder if the service is really getting done or not, if they're doing it correctly or not, or if we are getting scammed. Got a quote for $160 from another store to replace a gasket in my exhaust system and I would have to make an appointment next week. I called Carx and asked for a rough idea...they gave me a quote and said bring it in...give us sometime and we'll get it done. 30 minutes later I rolled into their parking lot...20 minutes later I paid $44 and drove away with a quiet car...Awesome Service!!!! read more

I have been bringing our cars here for maintenance for 7 years and have not had a bad experience till yesterday. My car had a slow leak in one tire and the manager on duty tried to sell me four new tires instead of listening to me about not having the money for new tires. A plug is what i asked for and he finally told the maintenance tech to do it. I usually come to CarX and Scott takes care of my car issues with great knowledge and no sale BS. Christopher D most have paid upfront, because this not the service I received. I came in for an oil change and also negotiated paying $30 to see why my engine was over heating. The Manager Scott( I remember his name well) said it would take about 35mins. he calls me 20 mins later and said I have either a blown head Gasket or a Cracked Block, and that the tests he preformed were 100% correct and it would cost about $1800 to fix. Long story short, his Tests were wrong(it was a thermostat), He did not take the time to make sure that was the problem, never offered to show me the process, never got an oil change, and I paid this man(scott) $30 dollars to answer a question that I got the Wrong Answer to..... I had a horrible experience down the street at Michel Tire Plus after they failed to adequately repair my car and put me at risk driving, they then tried to charge me for their negligence for additional repairs caused by shotty workmanship.
