    4 Mini Arepas Frita
    Miranda M.

My new favorite takeout spot!!! Wow! A fun Venezuelan inspired spot with bowls and lots of options. We had a build your own bowl with white rice, romaine lettuce, shredded chicken, black beans, grated cotija cheese, tajadas (sweet plantains) and chipotle sauce. It was amazing and super filling, we couldn't even finish it! We also ordered 4 mini arepa fritas which were cheesy but not as hot as we'd hoped when they arrived. They came with grated cotija cheese and a delicious sour cream dip. Finally, we ordered a pernil arepa, which came overflowing with pulled pork and stuffed full of cheese and some kind of sauce. This item was really oily and so we also couldn't finish it. I think the different bowls they serve are great way to get some healthy protein, vegetables, and carbs in. However, if you are not in any sort of diet or nutritional regimen and are just wanting to experience some of the more indulgent Venezuelan items, I highly recommend any of the sides or arepas. A great spot I can't wait to order from again!

Generous portions. The joint is super easy to find and the service is quick and attentive.

Caraotas is so delicious. I love everything about their bowls and arepas. Last night they didn't have arepas but I got the bowls and it was delicious as usual and super flavorful. I always get the braised beef or pulled pork bowl and it's so good and healthy. It comes with jasmine rice that's so soft and aromatic, black beans and your choice of protein and sauces with a small amount of pico de gallo and lettuce. The cilantro sauce and sour cream is my go to. The sweet plantains added to the bowl is a plus as the sweet and savory just pairs so well together and gives your taste palate a sensational burst of fresh flavors. I've ordered multiple times. They do mess up Ubereats orders and forget extra stuff added to the bowl but in person they get it just right. I highly recommend and their shakes are also amazing but I don't have a picture of that today. The Ambiance in pretty laid back but I do mostly order out!

Caraotas is a small, make your own bowl, type place with delicious Venezuelan food. The food is made for you quickly and the staff is great at recommending things to first timers. My order was made quick, and I enjoyed it thoroughly. You can't go wrong with anything you get there. The place is a bit small, but there is some indoor and outdoor seating. Can't wait to come back!

Tasty and filling! After seeing Caraotas on TikTok and hearing neighbors rave about this place, I finally tried it. I really wanted a bowl with brown rice and chicken but they were out of brown rice so I settled for white rice. I also wanted chipotle sauce which they were out of. According to TikTok, guacamole isn't extra but upon arriving, I learned that wasn't true. The reviews state that the milkshakes are delicious so I ordered the pistachio shake but the ice cream was way too frozen so I couldn't get my shake. While they were out of if a lot of stuff, what they did have was delicious and fresh so I gave it four stars. Would have given it five if they weren't out of everything. I'll try it again in a couple of weeks and hope all the options are available and that I can get my free milkshake as promised :).

I got the pulled pork (pernil) bowl and they FILLED it up. It's pretty to look at because of all the colors of the toppings and it was tasty too. Each bowl came with plantains which I was happy about. I would come back to try their burgers next time I'm in Bushwick.

I REALLY LOVE the food at this place!! I've only ever ordered delivery through here so I can only comment on the food, vet seriously, that's all you need to know about here! Their bowls here put other restaurants bowls, chain ones or otherwise, to SHAME!! They have pre-made bowls and make your own bowls. I always make my own. Granted, they don't have to many filling options, but qjat they do have is absolutely delicious! I've either gotten the roasted beef or the pulled parts. Both are tender, perfectly seasoned and piled high in the bowl. You're allowed 4 fillings. I always get the sweet plantains, guacamole($2 extra), shredded mozzarella and grilled onions. Everything is perfectly cooked and seasoned. I prefer the rice base over the lettuce one and the chipotle sauce. The rice soaks up all of the deliciousness from the meat, plantains and onions. Mmmm! The yuca fries are also great. Crispy and tender. Comes with a yummy dipping sauce. The passion fruit juice is amazing. Wish it came in a bigger size. Just on food alone, this place gets TEN stars.

I was highly #skeptical their Carne Mechada Burger looked as amazing as it does on their menu photo. But only way to find out was to get one. And it did look just like the #photo! And it tasted awesome! Lots of shredded meat. I think this might be the best burger in the area at the moment. #RIP Fritzl's and Northeast Kingdom. #Empanada was good too.

Really friendly staff and good first experience with Venezuelan food. The space is on the smaller side but they had outdoor seating was well. Would definitely go again.

Venezuelan Burger, Pistachio Shake, Yuca Fries

Had a great, easy dine-in experience a few weeks ago, had this place on my list for ages. Used to live up the block a few years ago, sadly this placed opened up about a year after I moved out :( Venezuelan burger was very good, although I'll admit I intended on the arepa version instead. Still enjoyed the burger, bread was fresh and loved the sauce and generous amount of cheese and potato sticks for an added crunch. Shakes are handmade to order, the pistachio shake was very good and filling with real pistachio. I'd personally prefer less pieces of pistachio, but thick consistency and quality made up for it. Yuca fries are large, very crispy and on the denser side. Very filling and satisfying, worth the wait. A handful of counter high seats and 1 or 2 small tables, not ideal for large groups. Service was exceptional and friendly. So many different options worth trying here, I don't think you can go wrong at all!!

Bowls are value and the protein (beef, chicken) is so incredibly flavorful. A lil bit more expansive that chipotle but def worth it.

Both were so flavorful, especially the chicken, and the plantains and cheese on the veg were the perfect combo. The empanadas were so fluffy and the cazón I got worked really well inside, the spices they added to the fish married it well with the dough. And the sauces!! Total must, particularly the creamy green sauce, but also the others ruled. And the prices were reasonable, I was very full after a $6 empanada and $13.50 arepa, for a lighter meal could probably just have the latter. Awesome spot in Bushwick for sit-down arepas.

And they taste delicious. I felt like the servings were huge!!! Immediately walking in, I was greeted and sat down. My order was taken quickly too. It was a busy day but my food still came out within 10 minutes. And good thing too because I was starving. I got the pollo arepa and pollo empanada. Looovveee how soft the pollo empanada is... it's so dang fluffy. That was my first time having an empanada with that kind of dough. I have to say that I prefer it. Wish Filipinos used that dough when we make our empanadas. lol. The pollo arepa was everything!!! I had never had an arepa until the day I had one here. The meat was seasoned so nicely in their tomato based sauce. And the actual arepa... soft yet had a bit of a crunch. It was the perfect textures for me. I also enjoyed their soursop juice. It paired perfectly with my meal. My friend got the pernil arepa and was impressed by the taste and the green sauce. I didn't get much information out of him other than it was hitting the spot lol. Definitely a solid place to go in the area. It's kind of medium sized in there but there is plenty of seating if you're with a party no bigger than 3 or 4 people. I think most people come in here for a grab and go situation. But it's cool to hang around to watch the kitchen at work and hear the music.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was and a bowl was perfect because it was not too heavy, it was just right. And the cheese on the rice was definitely something new. The only critique that we have about our order is that we ordered 3 empanadas, 2 beef and 1 plantain and cheese but instead we got 3 plantain and cheese empanadas so Uber had to refund us the money for the empanadas. We were really looking forward to the beef and we ordered the empanadas separately, not as a trio, to avoid any mistakes; yet whoever took the order made the mistake anyway. Despite this error, the food was amazing, and I look forward to eating from there again in the future
