He honored the happy hour deals even though I was a few minutes early. Cheap drafts and a hummus platter ordered, I looked around and saw many families and groups enjoying food and drink. Service was awesome. Atmosphere, pub vibe. The falafel platter came with homemade falafel, heavy on the oregano but balanced by pickled veggies, creamy hummus, and pita bread. It was very good. I should've ordered pizza. With the fire roaring in the pizza oven and several delicious NY style looking pies ready to go, pizza seems like the best move here. Also, pizza is on the happy hour menu. casual spot for a quick bite and some solid bar food! i've lived just two blocks away from mix for 4 years now, but this was my first time checking it out. my boyfriend and i opted to sit outside (we have a dog), so we always appreciate restaurants with outdoor seating options. we ordered a couple things to share: the philly special pizza, the tuna melt, and the grilled pear salad. the food came out fast and was solid. i wouldn't say it was anything to write home about, but it was quick, easy, and relatively cheap. i was excited to find out that they sold pizza by the slice, i'll definitely have to swing by for a slice when the pizza craving hits. our waitress was absolutely the sweetest. she was so friendly and attentive, even with us sitting outside. everything was done super efficiently and she made sure to check on us during our meal. overall, this is a nice neighborhood spot and i'm excited to try their pizza by the slice. read more

About every five years we Amtrak it to Philly. We always think we must have a cheesesteak. I mean it's the Philly signature. So once every five years we expect it to be good! Mix filled the bill. And got only $14 with fries (soy not the dreaded Canola--ok not great oil but we could indulge a bit), served by Julia and Tiffany, who were so caring and friendly, cut in half on two plates for us to share. Ordered the nachos as an appetizer but all food came out at the same time. The eggplant parm came out first and she didn't acknowledge us when she put the food on the table. One of our few ventures out in Philly was to the spring event known as the Punk Rock Flea Market. While it was a cacophony of visual sights and sounds, I craved a quiet corner of a bar. We walked uphill to Mix. 1. After ordering 2 Bloody Mary's, 20 minutes later, we were told they "don't do" them. Only the 2nd time in my 68 years of hearing this. Bah. But they had hand mixed Sangria. Not bad. 2. We ordered 2 sandwiches, a BLT & and chicken Parm. The BLT was good. But instead of bringing the sandwich, we got the platter. Oops. Time for a 2nd Sangria. Waited.. Waited.. Waited.. Finally, it came. With good fries. Not bad, but ended up taking 1/2 home because, well ..waited.. Our server was new, so we tipped extra so as not to discourage her. It was mediocre at best. Decent seating for Fat folks. And a 1st floor bathroom, so no schlepping down a flight of stairs. I saw an instagram post that they were open Christmas eve and that I should come watch the Eagles game with them. I went. I am glad I did. I got the Ultimate Mix Cheesesteak. Awesomeness on a roll. Red onions, cherry peppers, mushrooms, steak sauce, spinach, cheddar (very good change of pace cheese), balsamic vinaigrette, house garlic sauce. Great neighborhood bar. Pizza and salads are very good, service is friendly and quick, and it's nice being able to sit outside or next to the open windows. It's a little off the beaten path and not quite as bougie as some of the other Rittenhouse hotspots, so it's usually easy to walk up and grab a spot which is nice. read more

We love going here for lunch or happy hour. The owner is Israeli so you can get pizza, salads or some surprisingly good Israeli/Arabic food like the shawarma sandwich. Also the bar is really cool and the bartender is this awesome Israeli near Shir. Told us a bunch of stories about Israel while putting cocktails. After walking around all day I just wanted somewhere to sit and something healthy to eat. I had been craving a Greek salad and stumbled upon this spot. Luckily we arrive prior to the dinner crowds and were able to veg a cute spot in one of the Covid cubes (not sure exactly what they are called). It was nice to be out of the chilly air and even better that each little cube was separated by a barrier from tables next to it, as well as each had their own heat lamp! The salad was great, exactly what I was looking for. Very generous on the feta. Also ordered the garlic knots, which complimented the salad nicely. Because we didn't go into the restaurant we didn't realize that we could have ordered pizza by the slice. I kept smelling the Buffalo chicken pizza from the table next door and couldn't commit to a full pie. A slice would have been perfect! Honestly, so very disappointed. We made a reservation for a large group (25ppl)work event 2 weeks in advance for this passed Wed (7/27), confirmed not only 24 hrs prior, but also 1 hr before arrival, and we're never told the air conditioning in the area we were being made to sit in, had been broken for also the last 2 weeks. When approached about the situation, I was met with negative attitude, and avoidance from not only the manager, but also the owner as well. The only staff member that seemed genuinely concerned about our party was one of our wait staff, Cameron. Thank you again Cameron! Food was average at best. Somethings made well, others came out burnt. I understand things happen, but clearly the management is not professional enough to at least provide the common courtesy of informing patrons properly of such a major inconvenience. The pizza is good, but we ordered 2 pies, the first one (margarita) came out lukewarm, the second one (plain) was a bit warmer. The fries appetizer was a tiny portion for $6. After ordering our food and beverages, the fries came out within a reasonable amount of time. Eventually one pizza was served and it was almost room temperature (odd is that the pan was warmer than the pizza). Then when the waitress came back we told her about the lukewarm pizza, and asked about the status of the beer. No apologies given, but she gave a lame excuse that the pizza was hot (fresh hot pizza will burn your mouth). Finally the first beer and the second pizza was served. This was a plain pizza, again with fresh pizza, the cheese should be gooey, not the case with this second pie, could eat it immediately. Stopped in for a quick bite to hold us over until dinner. Greeted by a wonderful host that I unfortunately didn't get the name of. I had a plate of fries with a French 44 cocktail, and my lovely date had calamari (with a decadent garlic aioli) and a firing squad cocktail. Everything was absolutely delicious. Came here for a quick lunch bite on a weekday while in the area. It was a fine place to dine. It wasn't overly packed or empty. It wasn't too loud, but also not quiet. The menu was decent... since it was a quick bite we went for wings and a salad.. I was happy to see a pear salad on the menu.. I was pleased with the amount of chicken on the salad plus it was good.. The dressing was a bit over powering but I'm not balsamic vinaigrette fan for just that reason.. The wings were surprisingly big and done well... So no complaints on the food... Service was not overly friendly, nor was it rushed, it was just fine. I did use the restroom which could have been cleaner... If i didn't have to go I probably would have left without using it. Mix has the best pizza in the neighborhood - its brick oven is a hidden gem at 21st & Chestnut. Despite the current ban on indoor dining, you can order directly from Mix's website, via your favorite delivery app, or just order take out (gasp!) in person.
