Horrible service department. My car sat there for three days without one call from the service department to update on my car service. I had to call everyday to check on the status of the service, only to wait for a while before someone decided to answer the call. Never was once asked if I needed a loaner car or a ride back home. ZERO for service!!! Very rude and unconcerned service. I had no choice but to bring my car here as there is no Honda service in my 20 mile vicinity. Will never bring my car here again. One more thing don't expect a coupon for major services either because the best they can do is give you $15 off a $2000 service. I wanted to laugh as that discount didn't even cover the tax on the service. read more

I bought my car here a few years ago. While buying a car, unless you're rich, is never a fun experience, mine was as painless and easy as it could have possibly been. Crooks to the fullest. I turned in my lease, and leased a new vehicle thru them "Guffy" was my salesman. I was told I had $630 worth of mile overage and I would receive a bill from Honda directly, and as part of the deal, cardinal Honda was sending me a check to cover it. I asked several times to clarify, because in my 4 previous lease experiences, everything was taken care of the same day. Over a month later I received the bill from Honda, but it was for $6300! Cardinal Honda said a mistake had been made on their end, but I was still responsible to pay. I asked to return the lease, but because over a month had passed they refused. I could have bought out my old lease (around $10000) and had almost no payment with that $6000! I never would have leased new if they had given me the correct information! I'm financially crippled by this "mistake" THEY made! The owner was involved by the end, I had to pay $5,100. And she was happy with that out come. I however am outraged. Total bait and switch, I was conned by these people and I really wonder how KIM CARDINAL can sleep at night. They made the mistake, they never even called to let me know they had made the mistake. If the told me, I could have returned the car, and not ended up in a huge financial crisis! Immoral horrible company! read more

Called up another dealer they said they had one, come in and see it, no hassles. The best part that I didn't even get to with Cardinal, I have cash in hand ready to buy, no financing. I already own a 2007 Ridgeline, so I am sold on the vehicle already. Brought my CRV in for a recall on the driver's side door lock which was estimated to take a half day with a promise of a call when the car was ready. The call call came with news that the defective lock was replaced but bad news.... I urgently needed new front and rear brakes including rotors. Estimate: $1099.99 with after market parts which was touted as a big savings over original Honda parts. In fact I had had the oil changed two days earlier and had been told I would need new front brake pads at the next oil change. When I told the person this they asked who had done the inspection (Monro) and said they should be prohibited from inspecting brakes. He warned that the car was unsafe and should be driven very cautiously until the repairs were done.I declined the repair. When I picked up the car the person who checked me out asked if I had been called about the brakes. When I told him my story he said nothing at all. My receipt also had a recommendation for a tire rotation with an estimate of an additional $35. That, too, had been done by Monro 2 days earlier as part of a $27 total cost oil change package that included not only the brake inspection and tire rotation but new wipers. On the ride home I repeatedly tested the brakes for any sign of a noise or shimmy. Nothing. The next day I took the car to my regular and trusted mechanic for new front and rear brake pads thinking better 3000 miles early than too late. Total charge $370.56 and all of the rotors were fine. I shudder to think how often people authorize costly and unnecessary repairs at this dealership. read more

Turns out that was a lie. I recently brought my car in for a two hour service that turned into many more hours with them charging me additional hours of labor. Recently bought a Brand new Honda Fit from them. Went to test drive and loved the car. However, the one we want was not available, so we put $500 down as deposit for them to bring the car to their dealership. After almost 2 months, the one we ordered finally arrived. After we signed and brought the car back home, we realized that besides the driver side, there are no floor mats!!! Called the sales rep regarding this, and he said that this model doesn't come with one, which to me doesn't make sense. This is not like a fancy upgrade, it is a basic necessity. Then spoke to some manager, and asked that how they would sell cars that doesn't come with car mats, and we were never made aware of it. His answer was even more bizarre, "we only tell customers what the car comes with, we don't tell you what it doesn't come with." And also asked "If you knew that the car didn't come with mats, would you still have driven it home?" Worst shopping experience, they would rather lose a customer over Floor Mats. I got a quote for $240 [changing front brake pads and re-surfacing rotors] for my Acura which is kind of high to begin with. I saw decent reviews on Google - but I guess they are mis-leading I should have checked YELP. I was waiting for Darrell. I gave my keys signed the work order . I was confirming the price and the guy next to Darrell just out of no-where jumped in and said this should be 290 for the order who told you 240. Darrell is a nice guy but this other guy was so rude could not stand his BS talk. This is no way to treat a customer. You promise something and then just don't follow it. I would never trust them. I read several bad reviews here and was hesitant to come to Cardinal Honda for servicing. Eventually I was forced to due to recalls...they have been wonderful and very responsive. When I thought my IMA battery had died and was bracing for a huge bill to replace it (1500 bucks or so) they found it was just the 12 volt battery and replaced that for very little. Yes my IMA battery is dying but they understand that I don't want to go there until I must. They offered to work with me on getting a reconditioned one when I decide to invest. Stacie and everyone at Cardinal has been great. Perhaps the bad reviews on Yelp had the welcome effect of forcing this dealership to get its act together. This is an unethical company who cares nothing about their loyal customers (I had 4 leases with them) and, hence, trusted them. I got screwed on 5th successive lease: they aggressively marketed to me by emailing to come in before my 4th lease ended. On their advise I arranged to renew my lease agreement premature to my expiration of last lease. Nothing mentioned during sales meeting about fees/costs for closing out last lease. Low and behold I started receiving calls from Honda Financial Services asking where the remaining payments were for old lease. GOOD DEAL, RIGHT? Walk into CARDINAL WITH ONE LEASE, WALK OUT WITH 2. WALK IN WITH ONE CAR, WALK OUT WITH ONE CAR, BUT BE BILLED FOR TWO!! How could anyone pass up such an opportunity! Sure that this was an oversight, I called CARDINAL believing they would clear it up; take care of it. "Our continued commitment to you, " their commercial says. So to be clear, I turned in car with expiring lease and assumed payment on new lease. GOOD DEAL, RIGHT? PAYING ON 2 LEASES WITH ONLY ONE CAR IN MY POSSESSION. Happy Holidays the GM told me after he messaged me that CARDINAL could do nothing for me after their crack in house team investigated my situation and found no errors. Getting nowhere with CARDINAL, I sent the VP of HONDA MARKETING, Honda Financial Corporation and STAN CARDINAL a complete record and chronicle of problems that ensued after this sales mess, requesting that CARDINAL pay for remaining outstanding payments of old lease, since I never would have come in early had CARDINAL not aggressively marketed to me that it would be a good idea. Again, 5th lease, historically a good relationship with them and I trusted CARDINAL. No response from VP, no response from Stan Cardinal. However to HONDA FINANCIAL SERVICES credit, they called me and apologized for CARDINAL and offered to forgive one of the payments. I truly appreciated this after being treated like crap by CARDINAL. Moreover, Honda Financial Services did not need to do this as was not their mistake; not their mess to clean up. It was CARDINAL HONDA's mistake for which they took no responsibility. As I said, CARDINAL Honda is an unethical company. I will never recommend them (I used to all the time), or do business with them again. Since CARDINAL HAS NEVER TAKEN RESPONSIBILITY OR JUST PLAIN HELPED ME AFTER I GAVE THEM MANY OPPORTUNITIES, I want no response from them to this complaint post. read more

Initially the experience was amazing. We bought the car simple and easy and had fun with the whole process. Upon buying the car we were promised a few minor fixes bump out a dent, fix a scratch in the window and get an extra key. The sales man promised us a car to use while our car was getting worked on. Upon showing up for the scheduled appointment with my 4 month old baby the sales person informed me they didn't have a rental car for me to use so I would have to wait in the waiting room upstairs. After 30 minutes and a crying infant i decide it wasn't worth it and to reschedule. The sales person eventually found me a rental car to use however was extremely passive aggressive about it and never once apologized for his error. In addition he never called me or informed me when my car was ready in the shop forcing me to go down twice with my infant. The sales person then lost paperwork forcing me to go down there to give him another copy. The problem is that I'm an extremely easy going person it takes a lot to upset me. And i understand that we all make mistakes at work it happens, we are human however my sales person didn't even acknowledge his mistakes. He in fact acted angry with me . So, I made a deposit on a vehicle on Tuesday, and ever since then I've been trying to get in contact with my sales person, and nothing. I called different departments in order to talk to him or anyone that can help me, but nothing. Right now, I am simply trying to get in contact with the salesperson to make a request regarding my vehicle before I pick up next week. I drove from Mass to Connecticut for this car. With all honesty, I regret going to that Honda dealership to purchase my car. If i could go back, I would rather pay 2k more for a car and avoid this dealer. Please save yourself the time and trouble and go to a different Honda dealership. Everytime I would call, they would transfer me from this department to that department, etc. or they would simply just hang up the phone on my face. I've purchased couple cars, and this is by far the WORST experience. Thats not how you treat customers, goshhh..... Well, judging from most of the other reviews, I am not alone in my utter frustration and disappointment in this arrogant dealership. The rudest, most inconsiderate experience I have ever had. They lied, they ignore emails... "they" being Roger and Ashley. They only want to sell a car IF they can control and rip you off. If you start asking knowledgeable questions, they don't want to talk to you. The ONLY way to buy any car from any dealer is to walk in with cash or your own financing from your bank or, better still, credit union. If they obtain financing for you, they bump up the interest rate to whatever they think they can get away with. Be careful, and avoid arrogant Cardinal. I went here to test drive a used Honda CR-V a week ago. I drove the car and after over an hour of meeting and conversing with many of the people at the dealership ended up being an offered a monthly financing price on the car that I was happy with. I took a week to drive some more vehicles and then came back to take the car out for a longer test drive. The dealer was gracious enough to give me dealer plates and let me take the car out for a full half hour on my own which was much better than the quick drive they had taken me. When I got back to the dealer I was ready to put a hold payment on the car and low and behold, the payment plan had lengthened in order to keep the price we had talked about and details of the financing had changed. I walked out without buying a vehicle and would never consider them for a future car. Buying a car is difficult enough without dealers wasting your time. read more

They can never seem to find my appointment in the system when I arrive. I always have to show email proof of the appointment. They take forever even when I've chosen the "wait" option. The last service person that I checked in with loudly belched in my face as I was handing keys to him. He didn't even excuse himself or apologize. We bought a an Odyssey from here a few years ago and we have recently found out it has been in an accident. After buying the van, we had problems with the passenger sliding door not working properly. We took it into the repair shop at the dealership and were told that nothing was wrong to it. We moved to a different state and the Honda dealership here informs us that the van has been in an accident and the door was not fixed properly and the latches were banged back into place. The door has over $1500 worth in damages. (I also took it to a body shop not affiliated with Honda and was told the same thing.) This is a safety issue and I am so angry that Honda would sell a damaged van to a family with young children just to make money. Well, I suppose that should not surprise me that they do not care about the welfare of the customers, just the money they make. I am even angrier that I was told that nothing was wrong with the door, when there clearly was. We are a military family and I will be notifying the base about what happened to us, so that other military and civilian families can be aware to stay away from this dealership. We were definitely duped by this place and I would never recommend this dealership to anyone. read more

Let me start out by saying if I can give a zero star rating I would. I recently bought a used full sized pickup from this place. After only putting 3000 miles on it the engine blew. I only drive a eighth of a mile to work a day and never take the truck over thirty miles an hour and the engine blew before its first oil change. I informed the manage Tobi and he in a nut shell was very reluctant to help me and even though I paid 15000 cash for the truck he would only put 1000 towards what would become an 9500 repair. while the truck was in the chevy dealership getting the repairs they also told me that the truck would need a 1700 dollar cat. converter a 200 dollar starter and a 250 dollar battery not to mention a 7000 dollar engine. I am still having trouble with the truck today. Buyers be wear Cardinal Honda and Tobi the used car sales manager sells lemons and they will do nothing to help you if you buy a 2009 and older. Steve the sites facilitator will act like he is your friend and act like he is trying to help you but will do nothing because ct state lemon law protects them and they know it. Purchased a brand new accord from Cardinal. Salesman was helpful. When it came time to purchase the rebate we had been told about was off the table and "didn't apply" to the Accord. Maybe this was a misunderstanding? Drove my new car home and the tire light came on the next day. Evidently they didn't check the tires for proper inflation. Within two months of purchase Cardinal's cars are warrantied now for double the warranty when I purchased my car. Contacted the dealer. Told me they couldn't honor the new warranty, but would sell me an extended warrant for another $1600 from me. Will not be purchasing from Cardinal ever again. read more

Horribel Horrible Horrible; I went to go take a look and potentially buy a 2016 Civic as it was my perfect car. The sales rep was very nice and responsive, however everything went downhill from there. The finance guy told me that my bank "cut back" my pre-qualification. I started panicking thinking that my credit was bad or something. Turns out it wasnt that they "cut it back", it was that they were asking for 3,000 more than what the car price was with all these fees, so the bank asked them to lower it. Before that the guy who did my financing took down my information, said he would be back in ten minutes...i kid you not, i timed it, i was waiting for 40 minutes and the only reason he came back was because i said I was walking out the door and taking my business elsewhere. Aside from that he said he was gonna get me a low interest rate through Honda but instead of 0.9 he got 10.90% because the car wasn't "new" it was "certified". On top of that what really bothered me was that when I told him I cant pay him the price he wanted for this car, he started to try to sell me other cars that I REALLY didn't want. Talk about typical used car salesman. Long story short don't go here unless you're made of money and ready to pay whatever price they ask of you. They have good cars sure and Hondas are the best/most reliable cars out there. But don't deal with a company that all they care about is their bottom line and whether or not theyre making a ginormous profit from a car that they probably bought for a third of the price. read more

Bought a new 2015 Honda CRV EX-L today from Cardinal Honda. This is our second Honda from Cardinal. Peter Schmidt was our salesman for this purchase. He also sold us our new Honda Pilot in 2003. We contacted him this time because of a good experience with him 12 years ago. The transaction went very smoothly and it was a very pleasant experience. Cardinal has a "Clear and Simple" pricing policy. Essentially they have a price for a vehicle and that's it, no haggling or negotiation. I contacted several dealers in CT, RI and MA via dealer websites and e-mails for their best price and Cardinal's price was the lowest. I was surprised because there were larger, higher volume dealers that I contacted who I expected to be able to offer a lower price. Overall a very clean, nice and professional dealership. Highly recommend Peter Schmidt as a salesperson. We've had our Hondas serviced there before and I have had no issues with their service department. I brought my honda element here for repairs. Every time I leave there it seems like something else is wrong with my car! The first time I left there literally 5 minutes after my brakes completely went and if I wasn't smart enough to use the emergency brake to stop I would have hit the car ahead of me. When I brought the car back they said they had nothing to do with it. Also after bringing my car there my abs light went on, so I lost my anti lock break system but they denied having anything to do with it. After that the sway bar fell off of my car and was dragging. They charge more money than anyone. And they do a bad job. The only nice person there is a guy named Arnold but I can't tell if they are ripping me off or not!? Ugh read more

The experience from start to finish was wonderful... the sales manager found the perfect car for me and my needs, I did not need to look at any others after that. The process continued to go smoothly when I got to the finance part of the deal, they found a better car loan rate for me, than my bank could offer! This is the same review I put on cars.com Im just to lazy to change it. Prior to going to Cardinal Honda me and my wife went to Westbrook Honda and were let down. First off the car wasn't at Westbrook Honda as previously promised, and the sales staff were not very helpful, and I really didn't even feel the want to purchase a car after walking around the lot and dealing with an associate. Having a check for a new vehicle in my pocket me and my wife then headed over to Cardinal Honda. It was a night and day difference. The staff at Cardinal were professional, kind, and really took the time to find us the car we wanted. Our sales associate (Alexander) did a phenomenal job of getting us the car we wanted at a great price, and showed us around the shop and staff to let us know they where standing behind the vehicle. I've never been an import guy, but after owning this Honda (2011 CRV) for a week I can say I will stick with Honda indefinitely. This car is exactly what I wanted and more, and even after a week I can say that I am still thankful that we went into Cardinal Honda. My wife and I bought a used 2006 Nissan Altama back in November 2010. I was skeptical at first due to the 100k miles on this car but I took a leap of faith in this dealer and got the car. I ran into an issue with the rear brakes,4000 miles later where the rear pads were metal on metal . Now even though it was past the 60 day / 3000 mile dealer warrenty Cardinal relized that a mistake must have been made somewhere in inspecting the car and fixed the brakes at no charge to me .Trust in anyone is hard to come by but as long as you're honest it will pay in the long run . My wife and I we're looking for a good used car for the family (kids). Cardinal Honda Rep Scott Farrington posted a good used car online (C/L easternCT) as clearly represented as it was on the lot. Granted this is a Used car taken in trade, being sold AS IS-AS SOLD. Which anyone buying a car from a private seller has to realize Buyer Be Where. It had small issues that I the buyer could deal with. They add in a dealer charge ($350-400), They did a complete safety check of the car (required by the state CT) before they closed the purchase/sale. They can Register it for you or not (FEE). Still this experience was much better than i would of thought, given the overall perception of Dealerships in General. It is a inexpensive used car, that my wife and I felted Good about making this purchase with Cardinal Honda's Rep Scott Farrington. At the end of the day we walk out of there with the ability to negotiate the price down abit from the asking price, under $2,000. Wife's happy, I'm Happy... A Real Good Used Car is in my Driveway.
