We were in the market for a new (to me) car and I knew I wanted an XL60. They even let me take an XL60 for 24 hours to see if it lived up to my hype. Yes, I fell in love with a (just came off lease) 2020. The sales staff were all attentive, very knowledgeable, and answered every question I had. Even the dealership owner introduced himself to me. (It does help when your stepson works there and they love him!) Diane (our salesperson) was attentive, but didn't overwhelm us with trying to make a sale. That's a huge plus in my book. Secor Volvo in New London, CT is a very dishonest dealership! Two years ago, I bought a used 2013 Volvo XC60 from Secor Volvo drove it only 17,000 miles and it now has 106484 miles. Since purchase, I noticed progressively increasing oil consumption (now 1qt./mon.) and misfiring noticed mainly at idle. I took it to EuroCars and they scoped and diagnosed low compression in three cylinders #2-140, #3- 110 and #6- 55. Additionally the spark plug in #6 had cracked off ceramic on the cathode and had scored the piston/cylinder. I went to Secor Volvo and the GM said this is my problem not theirs and reiterated their multipoint inspection prior to sale. It is my clear opinion they took this car in trade from another patron put it on their lot and knowingly sold a defective car with a previously damaged engine. Now I am left with scraping the car in the junkyard since a new engine replacement is $8-10K with labor. Do not buy a car from this very cagy and dishonest dealership!!!! read more

I bought a used Volvo there from Diane 5 weeks ago. At the time the car was missing one of the two keys, so she said she would "look for it" but otherwise I could go to a local Volvo dealer for a replacement and they would reimburse me, which I got in writing. After two weeks of reminding her about the key she finally told me to just get a new one, which I did to the tune of $450, and immediately sent her the receipt. Three weeks later I'm still waiting on a check, after multiple polite reminders. I keep getting excuses and delays. The manager does not answer his phone or emails, and his voicemail box is full. Beware, if you write a bad review about this dealership, they will stalk you looking up your own business and leaving you a bad review there for leaving them a bad review, as if I didn't find these people pety, already! That's exactly what just happened. They searched for my business and left a 1 star review, despite never having been a customer calling me a "bad person," and even going as far as to imply that I am prejudiced against my own people! Terrible experience! Brought my car in to have the radio fixed (a volvo C70). I was waiting for the car when they informed me they needed more time to diagnose the problem (this was after waiting for about 5 hours) & that I would need to rent a car as they needed the entire day to complete the job. When they gave me back my car the emergency brake was broken (they had taken the interior of the car apart and apparently were unable to reassemble the emergency brake correctly). I then rented a car for the day & informed the service manager that the emergency brake was not put back together correctly. They then determined the amplifier was the problem after taking the interior apart & checking the wiring. I then had to schedule another time to bring the car in & wait for the repair. After a few hours they informed me it could not be completed that day & they would arrange for a loaner at no charge, which they did (not a volvo though). the next day they informed me they needed to order a part so they could fix the emergency brake, which they did. This was on a Thursday & it took until the following Tuesday to get my car back. The radio worked as did the emergency brake. When picking up the car, I mentioned to the service manager that the trunk was left filthy and I was disappointed that they left it that way, however, I would take care of it myself. The service manager became very upset & complained about haw many hours it took to fix the emergency brake & that he would't fix it for free in the future. I reminded him it was his technician that broke it ! He was not pleased & told me he would charge me more in the future. I initially thought this place was great as I dealt with Diane in sales and she was very nice, or so I thought. I purchased a Volvo here even though I live in NY as I was looking for a specific vehicle. When I came twice to test drive the vehicle I really should have picked up on some things from Diane and the fact that every time I went to roll down the windows, she stopped me. At first she said "oh don't roll them down, the AC is on and we need to make sure the AC works." I thought nothing of it and didn't roll them down. The 2nd time, it was misting out, barely any rain. I once again went to roll them down and she leaped over to make sure I didn't, saying "if the seats get wet they'll be ruined." So again, I thought okay she's very protective of the interior. It's of course, AFTER I purchased the car that I noticed there was a serious problem with rolling down the windows. They are electric of course and sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes I will roll them down and then they won't go back up. It will miraculously start working hours later, very random. There is some sort of electrical shortage that causes the windows to only work when they feel like it. This is something Diane was obviously aware of. That's why she tried so hard to make sure I didn't use the windows. Sneaky and unprofessional. She should have just been honest about it. Shame on her. read more

My God!! Very bad experience! My car was 48 hours repairing a rubber in sunroof something simple. They call me that it is already repaired when I pick it up I take it to the car wash to my surprise my car was flooded with water! They never worked in the sunroof!! They have stolen my money and my time! Also has poor customer service! *I do not recommend them! *Before you go and bring your vehicles please read the bad reviews!! read more

Stopped in on Friday to test drive an XC40 (with no appointment) and walked out the dealership the following Monday with keys. Connor is a great sales representative and was not pushy at all. He really knew everything about the vehicle and took his time to make sure I understood how everything worked. We even went on two test drives that day to make sure I really liked the car. Once I decided I was going to buy, Connor worked with the sales manager to get me the best deal. They bought my trade-in for much higher than I expected and gave me a great deal on the XC40. No one return my call,, I am looking at spending 40,000 to 60,000.cash and they can't even call me back... This red flag and will not do business with them... I've gone to these guys for over tens years with both a SAAb and Volvo that was purchased from them. A lot of things you need to be aware of: 1. They have NO loaner cars, or, very few - they will give you a rental car from Enterprise. Big difference and barely any convenience to you the customer. 2. Their service is fine, but they will sell you what they have in stock - not what is best - like a SAAB battery that has no warranty when there are a myriad of batteries that have a good warranty. 3. They will hardly work for your business - they'll do the minimum, but that's about it. 4. The people who take in your car know nothing about the cars. 5. SAAB went down and now you can hardly get them on the phone (though they will call you back) same is gonna happen if Volvo goes down. My advice - find an indy who comes recommended. read more

They are very sneaky here. After they screw you, the service manager will fix the problem, but you have to go through the standard problems with the regular service staff first. I don't kno w how they stay in business when they do things like change the price of what they told you initially. There are ethical, after market volvo repair places around in New London and Groton that will treat you right - you just need to ask around. Everybody knows to avoid secor. read more
