I had decided to purchase new flooring for my living room. I had a disappointing experience with this company before, however, it was 20 years ago so I thought they would have changed. They have not. As I walked into their store, there was one salesclerk and a customer. I browsed around the store for a few minutes and the clerk never acknowledged my presence. She continued speaking with the customer, which I realized was someone she new personally as they were talking about a wedding and someone wanted a new floor that they both new. I did not expect her to stop waiting on this person, but I did expect a greeting or "Hi, I'll be with you in a few minutes." Nothing! She didn't even look at me. Our second purchase with Cardoza (first was carpet several years ago) for hard wood in our master bedroom. They were great all around! From matching the old style 2 1/2" width wood to the professionalism of the entire team. I want to point out that this business uses local labor (which I'm sure costs more) rather than subbing out to who knows where. And still a competitive price! From the moment we walked into the showroom and met Nicole to the final install, an error by the contractor, that Jamie took over to ensure complete satisfaction, our experience was fantastic. After our furnace malfunctioned and pushed water from radiators throughout the house for five hours, we basically had a full gut job ahead of us. This happened during the heart of the pandemic and our insurance company worked with Cardoza. We live in Portsmouth, NH, so would not have chosen to drive to Milford to choose our replacement flooring. We will happily travel back there when we redo the only room of the house that wasn't impacted, the half bath on the first floor! We all hear vendor nightmares when repairing or building homes, but this family-owned and run business will exceed all expectations. Because delays repairing the room we had to reschedule at the last minute for a later date. They went above and beyond getting us done as soon as possible. The installation was perfect. A friend had highly recommended Cardoza to me, so when it came time to replace my stairway and hallway carpet, I headed only to Cardoza. So many choices, but Dan guided me to the most cost effective one for my project. The delivery and installation date was farther out than I had hoped, but during COVID, I've become accustomed to being flexible. The two men who installed were highly efficient and professional. Cardoza replaced my floors and left my home a complete dust bomb. Doors to other rooms including bedrooms were left open after installing thresholds. (I came home to them open) No drop clothes were used to cover anything. They were completely careless and left my home and belongings covered in saw dust and construction debris in all parts of the house. Not even the new floor was clean. There were large gaps that needed correcting as well as baseboard heat that wasn't put back. All around a poor job and I would not recommend Cardoza flooring. I voiced my concerns to the owner Mike and he was extremely rude on the phone and said it wasn't his problem. Instead of taking responsibility he tried to blame other contractors. The only problem is they were the only contractor there. Terrible ethics, poor quality work. This is mixed review because I have good and bad things to say about this company. Overall they did a decent job of installing my laminate and vinyl/ceramic bead flooring downstairs. Some of the installers were extremely careless with their tools and performed some routine procedures poorly/incorrectly. I had to have the best guy who works there come back and fix some mistakes that should never have been made. J is a real pro and IMO, should be running that business. He is very knowledgeable, courteous, and creative. Unfortunately I had some health issues some of the time they were here and had to leave my home so could not keep my eye on them every minute. I really should not have to do that anyways with a company that specializes in flooring. The owner of the company was all friendly and cooperative when I told him what part I would play in the job (such a purchasing my own bare wood new floor moldings, staining them to the color I wanted, and then applying poly). I was specific with him about the materials I was buying and afterwards he told me that he would never have recommended what I bought! I also borrowed an idea from their former location in Milford Center to marry my front and back entrances together as well as provide some protection from extensive outside floor traffic on my new laminate when coming in from my patio which I do many times a day. He agreed to this layout up front and later said it was ill conceived! (Actually it has been working out quite well). However, the worst thing that has happened with him is that he recently told me that the materials I bought from them for the job were no longer available and had been discontinued. I had some left from their work at my place 3 years ago and wanted to augment them so that I could keep the same theme while renovating part of my upstairs this year. This was totally untrue! I was able to find them easily enough at another flooring company. To be honest he is kind of a cranky butt after the sale. I know he has had some health issues but who hasn't? That is no excuse. When dealing with this company, I would get every specific detail that you want down in writing from the company being sure that your wants/needs are agreed upon with the owner. Also, I would ask for only their best installers and get references as installers change over the years. So far their work is holding up well enough as is my choice of floor moldings. If I had the money I probably would have gone with hardwood as the laminate is not holding up great in some places. For example the rolling office chair I use and which the flooring company said would be no problem is actually making some fine scratches on the floor. Some other things (on their end) need a little correction after 3 years but they are fairly minor. Although I originally asked them to have their best guy (J) contact me after his vacation to help with my upstairs renovation, they never did so and after that falsehood about the material availability, I went with another installer who was happy to help me obtain the materials I needed. Like others I checked with some big box stores like Lowes and Home Depot before choosing Cardoza but heard too many horror stories about the installers they use. Besides I wanted to support small local businesses if at all possible. I did expect Cardoza installers to be 100 times better but unfortunately that was not the case. Do your homework. read more

Purchased vinyl flooring from Lowes. We paid for an installer to come to the house to look and quote the job before any work was to be done. Dave from Cardoza the installer called, he gave us a window of just 3 hrs from 11:00 - 2:00 on Wednesday. I told him that I couldn't take time off from work and if they did evenings or Saturdays. He said sometimes Saturday's but he was busy this Saturday. He asked if someone else could be there from them to look at the job. I told him it was kind of pointless if I was not there to see what needed to be done and discuss our options. He said he would have to call me back. Within 5 minutes he called saying they couldn't meet my demands and that they were declining the job. I didn't think that my "demands" were that outrageous. Since apparently they do work on Saturdays what was the problem. He said that they can't install at night. We never discussed installation, this was just a inspection and quote. Very unpleasant to deal with. This is an example of how they conduct business, I'm glad they showed it upfront. I would never want to have a company like this do work for me or let them into my house. Lowes has many other competent installers, who do not treat their perspective customers this way.
