I have shopped here repeatedly while trying to find the right solutions for a family member who has a new MS diagnosis. Carol has been attentive and caring. She has offered options, and told me the pros and cons of each. She looks for cost effective solutions. Because their hours don't allow for the patient to shop with me, Care Medical has been fine with taking returns on things that didn't work out. I left tags on and had the receipt, and returned within 10 days. My purchases have always been loaded into my car and samples have been built so I could see the product. The WORST customer service of any medical device provider around. Athens Pulmonary sent in an order for a new bipap mask for me on July 14th; third party service (Parachute Health) shows it was shipped via FedEx on July 15th but I have not received it as of July 25th, the tracking number shows a delivery I received on July 9th. No one at Care Medical will answer the phone or return my calls after I leave a voicemail. This is not the first time I have received bad service from Care Medical. read more

On 2 Feb 2023 Care Medical of Athens received my CPAP Machine -a ResMed A10- to send off to ResMed's repair/contract facility because the blower motor was DEAD. I have called you on six separate occasions trying to get a repair status and a "loaner" machine. Zero success in all calls. On 1/14/23 I spent 20 minutes speaking with Mr. Walker at Medicare CMS. He was shocked by your neglect because this machine is a medical necessity for anyone with Severe Obstructive Sleep Apnea. After looking it up on his database, he found that it was past the 13 month period and that any local DME provider could provide a loaner and get the ResMed CPAP machine repaired. Please send the ResMed machine back to me and I'll find someone with a loaner and have them send it off for repair. Today is 3/1/23 and I still have not been able to get a repair date completion or a loaner CPAP Machine. read more

I know it takes time when you go in to get store for service, But due to Insurance Companies and we now they are hard to deal with. They need to make sure all is good for you and them before you leave. Carol D, Dante and Marcela took great care of me and my family. My mother needed Oxygen tanks and she isn't one to stay at home. Purchased an electric scooter for my Dad from Care Medical, Athens, GA. about 10 days ago. Called for customer service because machine will not completely charge. Red power light is on; flashing green light is on but will not go to solid green because not fully charged. Called office number and they gave me another number for service, supposedly in the same building. I've called the number, but it's in Kentucky. Customer no service ain't no help...and 1 dissatisfied customer can do more company reputation damage than 100 satisfied customers. Absolutely atrocious customer care service. I received an unexpected bill from them and wanted to find what it was about and how to take care of it. Right off the bat, incredibly rude and defensive customer service rep. Kept repeating "YOU CONSENTED!" when I was asking about clarification. I told them I understood and I'm not disagreeing that I consented and I'm responsible for the bill, but their employee was still incredibly defensive and rude. So I asked for the machine to be picked up, as it's not used anymore. I get transferred to even worse customer service rep. Incredibly unprofessional, the lady was rude right off the beginning. I asked to have the machine picked up, she informed me "we don't pick up there since you moved out of state, it was your responsibility to let us know. We are NOT going to be picking this machine up." and I said "Well you're not going to keep charging me for a machine I've asked you to come get, schedule a pick up service to get it if you have to." and the once again, the lady laughed at me and said "We don't do that. It's not policy. You're just gonna have to come back to Georgia or keeping paying for it". Meanwhile, in the background is the lady's husband popin' off. I'm sure whatever training this woman had did not involve her husband poppin off at customers in the background and escalating the situation. Anyways, called another location. Super nice, got us a solution we were OK with and the machine is being taken care of. Sure, we have to drive 2 hours to drop the machine off, which we were willing to do. The first lady made no attempt to solve or help and her man in the background kept yelling over the phone. Care Medical, train your staff better. As far I've calculated, you've made $9,500 off my insurance for this product and this is the kind of customer care service you provide? Wellstar should find a better medical machine supplier, because clearly, half of your customer service reps are poorly trained and unprofessional. I wouldn't let them handle medical supplies for my dog. Doctor put in CPAP prescription first week in January, now 2/18 still haven't received it. I called 2nd week and left message, VM said "would call back"...nothing. Called the next week and said "never got prescription, or couldn't find it". But the app they said to load, their app showed the order. Called doctor, they submitted prescription SECOND time. Nothing after a week, called again, "ok will check on prescription and call you back". Nothing. Called last week, "sorry will check on order and let you know, call you back". Nothing. Called today asked to speak to a manager, "OK manager will call you back later this morning" . Nothing. But they did this two orders ago, shame on me for continuing to do business. Take your business and RUN, RUN FAST to a medical supply store that is not inept and cares. read more

Find anyone else. I've tried to be patient with this company. Their service has deteriorated in the last few years. We waited over a MONTH to get service for my husband's wheelchair once he got out of the hospital with a new trach. After weeks of waiting they finally showed up and didn't have the right parts ordered. It's just one thing after another with them. Save yourself frustration and find any other company. Calling on phone system they have sucks. You can never get touch with anyone at building. When u do get someone , we can order for u. It takes 5 business days order it. I am brand new getting cpap machine . When answer phone after 15 mins , asked if son goes by get will be there can u check see ? It should be there if not they can order it. Like the others, I had a terrible experience. In spite of my insurance company calling them and telling them that I had met my deductible and they would cover 90% of the cost of the medical device I needed, Care Medical repeatedly tried to get me to sign an invoice for the full amount, claiming I hadn't met my deductible. REPEATEDLY. I know exactly what my insurance company told them because I called BCBS myself and the insurance rep called the store and kept me on the line. During this several-hour ordeal I witnessed 6 customers come in, and not a single one of them left with what they needed due to billing problems, insurance issues, or not having items in stock (and not even willing to order them for the customer). Worked with my doctor to get a CPAP, and this company was approved with my insurance company. The only real time I had contact with them was the very next day when they were confirming my address. After a few weeks of no contact, I tried to call them and got in touch with a receptionist that said my order shipped. After another week I tried and failed to get in touch with anyone. I left one voice mail after another, left multiple voice mails with my name, phone, and DOB. They NEVER got in touch with me. Finally last week I again got in touch with a receptionist that said my package should arrive last week. Again, no show and couldn't get a hold of the company again. Left more messages, receptionist told me they didn't show it shipped, and I had it with them at that point. Reported this to my doctor, and they said they couldn't get a hold of them either. After a month, and around 35 messages later, my doctor set me up with another company that contacted me right away, gave me options, a number I could quickly get a hold of someone, and a secure e-mail platform where I get responses within hours. This new place is great. I contacted my insurance company, confirmed Care Medical hasn't sent anything to them yet, told my insurance company I wont be dealing with them cause of the issues above, then proceeded to leave messages on the 3 numbers I had for Care Medical to inform them to cancel anything involving my order, and that because of their lack of communication. The very next day I got a voice mail from the company in response to me wanting to cancel. They told me the VP was escalating this, and they were getting with the shipper to get my package expedite shipped, which is NOT what I asked for, was the complete opposite. I told them in 3 voice mails I wanted to cancel cause I went with another company, and they wanted to ignore that and ship theirs anyways, which would have gotten me in serious trouble with my insurance company trying to submit 2 claims for CPAPs. I call them again, get their voice mail, and again told them that was not what I wanted. I don't want them shipping me their unit, i don't want them charging or even dealing with my insurance company, and I don't want them trying to charge me for anything. I get a call back 10 minutes later (funny how responsive they are when you're trying to cancel), and again they said they were going to expedite the unit to me, which I had to tell them again not to, and that I was informing my insurance company that they were trying to force this order even though I told them multiple times I wasn't ordering with them or dealing with their horrible company. I'm honestly expecting them to still try and order this and ship it to me, even though I told them not to multiple times in voice mails and even with a live person. Horrible horrible horrible! I had hip replacement surgery scheduled and brought Care Medical a signed prescription for a walker. I could see them hanging behind the counter! This was over a week prior to surgery and they were advised of the date. Said they needed to verify medicare insurance and get additional info from the doctor (?). Ok, so two days prior to surgery I call them and they advised they would call me once they heard from the doctor. The afternoon prior to surgery they still hadn't called, so I called them again. Claimed that they were still waiting on the doctor's office to respond. So when were they going to call? 5 minutes before they close or not at all? WOULD NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN! Folks at both hospital and doctor' office said they don't know anything about having to contact the doctor once they are presented with a valid prescription and insurance coverage. I had to go buy a walker out-of-pocket at the last minute prior to surgery. Can't express enough what's bad experience this was with Care Med! read more

The staff are rude. I asked for a walking aid. They asked me was I right handed or left. I have issues on my right. They didn't even bother to tell me which side to use, plus it was too short. I figured they'd atleast know what side to have me use. I eventually need another less worn out one that stood by itself. They were very rude about it. Both timed no one helped me. Should be named Don't Care. It is difficult for my husband who is having cancer treatment to go anywhere. We live in Monroe but had an appointment in Winder. I knew we could not waste time, effort & gas so I called the Athens # & was told what we sought was in stock. My husband needed a specific walker/rollator & was assured (she went & looked) that it was available. We traveled the 35 minutes only to be told by a young man who was standing behind the counter (only way I assumed he worked there) that they did not have anything but very high priced ones that insurance would not cover. He would not check with anyone else even though I had spoken to someone today. He said the number could have rolled over to any of their locations. Really? Maybe that should be corrected. Not a problem for me. After many years of purchasing there (it's been 1.5 since we needed them) I won't consider in the future. read more

I needed a walker after ankle surgery. Care Medical has only 2 models. One of them is a folding model which has 2 wheels in front, but has NO Locking mechanism for the wheels. This is very dangerous. The only other one that they carry has 4 wheels and a seat. They charge you an additional $75 over the Medicare coverage. Nothing more than a scam and unethical. read more

Nice people. Horrible wait time. Came in the morning and had to leave after 20 minutes of wait Bec my mom had another appt. We returned in the afternoon at 3:40pm. We still experienced more than 1 hour wait. And guess what they gave us the wrong splint. Right instead of left. We were in the car and noticed it. I went back immediately and it took 5 seconds to replace it with the correct one. So what was the hold up? Why more than one hour to get a freaking wrist splint? That is a crazy wait time for a wrist splint. Mind you, we had all our papers filled out and everything. They need to improve their process! read more

I began using Care Medical for CPAP supplies in 2007. The front staff are great but do not hold your breath waiting on respiratory therapy to call you back. They are great with oxygen but with CPAP, the respiratory therapist takes her own sweet time. She does not return calls, no matter how many messages you leave. If you want service, you MUST go in, otherwise you are put on "ignore" like every other CPAP patient. I did quit using Care Medical when insurance changed, but now I have to go back to them for the same reason. I do not live within driving distance so making an appt. is impossible. I have had the same problem as Bryan H. as have others that I have spoken too. I had a surgery and while I was under, they told my wife that I needed special equipment for recovery and that it would be covered by insurance. A month later we got a bill. I contacted them and they said I needed to file a claim with my insurance. My insurance said I can't file a claim, that they had to. I told them that, they said they would. Over a year later and after 3 attempts to get them to file a claim (including giving them the detailed instructions on how to do it) they still didn't. I filed a claim with BBB and now they say they have taken care of my bill, yet I still have an amount due. Don't believe anything they tell you! read more

Absolutely horrible service. I purchased a hospital bed for $1,500 and paid with a debit card. The money was taken out of my account and I was given a receipt with the purchase on it. The next month I was sent a bill in the mail saying I owed $60 for the same hospital bed. I called the billing department in ATL and spoke with 3 different people on 3 different occasions who say that it was a error on their part, but they can't fix it until they speak with a manager. When I ask to speak with a manager there is never one available. I have been told 3 different times that I will get a call back and never have. I am still waiting for the balance on the account to be changed to $0, and it has been 3 months. I will NEVER do business here again. read more

Unfortunately I have to get my CPAP supplies through them--that is the worst department Care Medical has; they seem to be very overworked and show it to their customers. The main store is reasonably staffed by courteous and helpful staff although I don't know how their servicing of medical equipment is handled. Completely awful. Avoid this company at all cost! They use shady underhanded business dealings that are borderline illegal. You will rent a piece of equipment from them for an agreed upon price, paid your bill, then get another bill later for additional charges that are not in the contract that you signed initially. If you pay those charges they will magically come up with more. If you call them on it and get them to agree that you owe them nothing, you'll still get a bill later that they will try to get sent to a collection company and try to ruin your credit. This place is the worst! I went in to find my husband a lightweight transfer wheelchair to keep in the car. I had to wait an hour and twenty minutes before anyone would talk to me. The old couple being helped couldn't decide between a red or blue Rollator walker. Then, after all of that time, they decided to "think about it" and walked out. Finally, the salesman came over and I told him what I needed. He handed me his big book of products and let me look for myself while he went to grab ... lunch? ... go to the bathroom ?... I don't know what he was doing. Anyway after looking in his catalog, I determined that they didn't have what I needed, so I left. read more

This company is HORRIBLE! After my mom was hospitalized in 2016 with pneumonia, the hospital insisted she come home with portable oxygen which she only used twice. I spent hours on the phone with Care Medical as they were double billing her for months and they refused to come pick it up without a release from her Doctor. When they finally came 5 months later, the very unprofessional man took the oxygen tanks, did not leave a receipt, and they kept billing her saying they had no record it was ever picked up. We got bills from 3 different locations for 9 months. Shortly after that she was a victim of identity theft using her legal name (which she did not go by) that ONLY Care Medical used on her bills. We had to freeze her credit and it was reported to the authorities. Speed forward 2 years...after 5 weeks in the hospital my mother passed away. Out of nowhere, Care Medical began billing her insurance company and sending patient balance due bills starting the month she died and for 6 months as if she is alive and has their equipment. And guess what?? We've been receiving letters again from banks, department stores, credit card companies saying she's applied for credit AGAIN - using her legal name that only they use on their fraudulent bills! I've reported this and I hope they are shut down!! read more

BEWARE!!! DO NOT USE CARE MEDICAL OF ATHENS!!! I had the misfortune of being one of their customers several years ago and required a wheelchair. It took them over 2 weeks to get a wheelchair to fit my needs (nothing extravagant -- I had a broken leg and needed a leg rest -- true, I am tall, but only 5'10"-- nothing crazy!). The real nightmare began when they started billing me. They go the bills wrong, failed to file with my insurance company, and harassed me for over 1 year following my injury, even after the Georgia State Insurance Commissioner determined that neither I nor my insurance company owed them money due to their improper billing practices. Fast forward 2 years, and I'm now getting billed -- AGAIN! I have reported this business to the Consumer Protection Unit a the Georgia Department of Law (consumer.ga.gov). If you have story like mine, you should report this company too! They are taking advantage of sick and injured people in the worst way possible!!! read more

Total rip-off. Was injured at work and had to be put on an oxygen concentrator at night. Care medical charged Workman's Comp $300 per month for an oxygen concentrator that cost no more than $600. My pulmonary doctor made the arrangements for Care Medical, but has been advised to avoid them (Care Medical). The equipment was terminated by Workman's Comp in April of 2014, reasons unknown, probably the price. I contacted Care Medical in April 2014 to come get their equipment, several times after that since they did not retrieve their equipment. I purchased out of pocket a new Respronics Oxygen Concentrator for $500 with a full 5 year warranty. The Care Medical equipment was finally returned by me at my expense. Now I am currently receiving bills from Care Medical for $11,000 in rental fees from the time Workman's Comp cancelled the concentrator to the time I returned their equipment. Avoid them like the plaque. read more
