The 3 guys ordered Carib, one person had Mauby. The combo platter had fried shrimp, fried Banga Mary, some raw vegetables. For my entree I ordered the jumbo pepper shrimp lo mein. Our drinks came out promptly. The jumbo pepper shrimp lo mein had sauteed shrimp in some hot spicy red sauce. The lo mein was tasty. Most of us were full but one couple ordered mango ice cream to share which they liked. A few ordered food to go including myself. I haven't had black pudding all year and was pleasantly pleased by cabana's serving last night. It was fresh and tasty. The roast lamb fried rice was also delicious (as always) and the service was efficient. We sat outside which had a nice a vibe and I was excited to hear they offer hookah but unless you're sharing it I couldn't see myself paying $50 for myself. The interior is simple with opened space, placed with table and chairs. Sat down and had a spread to share. Order the chi cha chicken and it's amazing, tender, juicy and crispy. The combo platter has an assortment of fried food, including fish, tenders, wings, and shrimp. For the entree, we got curry duck with dal roti, oxtail with peas and rice, house special rice and noodles and jerk chicken. My favorite was the curry duck. I love the dal roti sopping up the curry; but be mindful of the bones. The sorrel was refreshing with a strong clove taste. The service was friendly and informative. This was my first time at Caribbean Cabana and my experience was spectacular. The service was very professional, Usha was our waiter and she was very patient, open, and honest. We were a table of 7 and she catered to us all. The service was very fast, the food and drinks were served within 10-15 min after ordering. We tried the lamb pudding, roast pork, chicken fried rice, house special lo mein, house special white fried rice, and duck curry with dhal puri. All of the dishes were really good, my favorite was the dhal puri and house special white fried rice. The only thing I recommend is to make the lamb pudding a little more crispy and the duck curry needs a little more salt, it was on the bland end. I went to eat there on a Thursday afternoon @ 2pm. The restaurant had 2 sets of couples inside dining. My husband order the snapper curry and I ordered the roast pork fried rice. The fried rice came to the table room temperature. Not even warm. I was quite disappointed. If you go to a restaurant and order food there to dine in, you should receive your food at least warm, if not hot. The staff was very friendly and polite. The snapper curry was at least warm & very tasty. When we asked the waitress why the pork fried rice wasn't warm she said because they had a lot of takeout orders, and they were very busy in the kitchen. Took some friends who were trying Guyanese food for the first time and they enjoyed it. Obviously, it was on an absolute basis as they had no other to compare to. However, food was good. Had the chachikai chicken and fried fish for appetizer- both were delicious. Equally good were the duck, goat and snapper curry for main courses. Fried rice was ok, can be vastly improved. Dhalpuri was cold but was well seasoned. Service was fine. Service at Guyanese restaurants can be super idiosyncratic- hit or miss . Decor is super dated. Let's start with the following: The restaurant itself- pretty big, but since we were a party of 14, they kinda squeezed us into a somewhat cramped spot... after asking if we can get a bit more space, they rearranged some seats and table and had a bit more space to move around. Drinks- I kinda started a trend for our table and ordered some mango mojitos, which were super tasty and wasn't strong for those weak drinkers at the table... I still pat myself on the back for that one. Food- I love me some Guyanese/Asian fusion food... I ordered the boneless jerk chicken chow-mein... I love noodles and I love spicy jerk chicken... it was delicious. Everyone else loved their food as well. Awesome joint for some delicious Caribbean food, it was quite a delicious treat mix of Caribbean and Chinese food. I got a fried rice dish online for pickup. Although it took a little longer maybe total about 15 minutes of wait as they didn't get my online order in right away, the wait was definitely well worth the wait. The waiting area is quite spacious too so its a good way to avoid the bad weather outside while waiting. The portion was quite large and delicious for about $12-13 I definitely had enough for 2-3 meals out of the single order. Along the Jamaica Ave in Richmond Hill area this is a quite a yummy choice. A little harder to find parking spots around here unless you head to one of the residential side streets. But definitely worth a visit especially you wanted to try something new like I did. We stumbled upon this little gem on Jamaica. All staff are practicing healthy and safety protocols. They require mask upon entering. We were greeted upon entering and seated in their spacious backyard patio. It was decorated with palm trees and colorful paintings.They had music playing as well. Ashley was our waitress. My guayanese friends took me here to eat. First, place is beautiful inside dining area and immaculate with good attentive waitress named Sherry. Second, food was wonderful and large plates served. Third, I had a White Russian that I hadn't drank in about 40 years. It was awesome that I didn't even finish it cause of its power. Finally, the bathrooms were very clean and several families were present eating also. There is a large outdoor eating area for the summer and a private party room. There is also a separate bar room with an average size circular bar with current music playing. This place is a gold mine. It is easily assessable by public trans but we drive. Parking is impossible on Jamaica Avenue so you'd have to search for parking on side streets. We went on a Sunday afternoon so it wasn't difficult finding parking on side streets but I bet it'd be a hardship finding parking @ night. The food was seasoned just right and it was the first time that I ate fried rice which was nothing close to Chinese fried rice. It was a Caribbean fried rice with the taste of ginger and other Caribbean spices. I enjoyed it. I am sure that I'll be returning here when the weather gets warmer. Felt like having some fried rice late last night and they didn't disappoint. They close at 11:00pm which is great considering the times you live in now. The five star is solely based on the chicken fried rice, I'm not sure about the other stuff. The rice was flavored well and not hard but a good consistency as it should be. This is my FAVORITE local restaurant! I discovered this place last year when another restaurant (Crazy Willies) on this block treated my party very poorly on the night of my brothers birthday - the racial tension was so thick and they were EXTREMELY unwelcoming. Fast forward to looking for good local eats - CARIBBEAN CABANA!!! This place is a GEM! Not only is the staff so courteous, professional and welcoming but they made us feel like family! We went back the other night for my brothers annual birthday/ Mother's Day dinner and the staff blew us out of the water this time ! The wait time was great given the holiday rush but there's also a whole lounge on the other side so we spent our 5 minute wait dancing next door in their lounge area. The management team checked with us periodically to update us while preparing our table and we didn't even make it halfway through one of my favorite songs before they were ready for us. The food is great ! Our server was Alicia and she was amazing ! Alicia had great hospitality and gave great menu recommendations (she even let my mom hug her in her brief moment of tipsy gratitude)!
