Quick and kind service. They gave me a good portion and it's fairly inexpensive. The curry goat is tender. I usually prefer it a little more spicy than what I had here but overall it was good.

This restaurant was recommended by a fellow yelper and boy I am so glad I decided to check it out. The lady taking orders was very helpful and friendly. I ordered doubles with pepper, pholourie, bara with tamarind sauce and fudge for dessert. Everything was full of flavor and delicious. The doubles were fluffy and fresh. Paired nicely with the pepper and tamarind sauce. Pholourie and bara was fried to perfection and the tamarind dipping sauce was my favorite. Definitely recommend this place for authentic Caribbean cuisine.

There roti is amazing. Nice portions. I travel from sarasota to get this yumminess. Chicken curry on point.

One of my favorite West Indian spots to grab a bite. No complaints. The Auntie that greets you when you walk in, is nice. The service is fast even if you don't order ahead. I would suggest if it is your first visit, take a look at the menu before hand, ....if you can, since there is so much delicious food to choose from.

I do not know how I have not reviewed this place before but the fact I did not was a disservice to Caribbean Crown. I LOVE the vegetarian options here!!! If you are a vegetarian I believe you will love it. Everything is so flavorful, especially the pumpkin based curry goodies and seems made to order. The pumpkin filled roti skin was amazing and the doubles are tasty! I also am a fan of the phoulourie. The accompanying tamarind sauce is delectable. I have also had fish stew/soup here and it tasted fresh and flavorful (not sure if they still offer it). There are several sweet/dessert offerings in a case by the counter. In the fridge there are drinks such as sorrel. Caribbean Crown is off busy Busch Blvd. in a strip mall with a few other businesses. There is a friendly woman who works there who takes your order (I think she is the owner's wife). I cannot remember is she is from Guyana or is Trini. Parking is available out front. If I lived closer to CC I would be here every week, but alas, I live on the opposite side of town. I have been lusting after their pumpkin based savory entrees--I am wayyy overdue for a visit! Until then I will just dream.

First and foremost, the service was amazing ! The owner greeted us and was so kind as we entered her place of business. She gave us a few recommendations on what to order as first time customers and let me tell you, the food did not disappoint ! I ordered doubles, samosas and pholourie. My favorite of the three (if I had to choose) was the doubles ! It tasted so fresh and flavorful. The sauces blended together nicely and I was super satisfied with my order. The phoularie and the samosas were also very good and satisfying! I will be coming back to try a different dish next time. Be sure to stop by Caribbean Crown if you'd like to try some really good & authentic West Indian food. I would definitely recommend stopping by Caribbean Crown and supporting this small business!

    Casual goodness. Friendly Caribbean service

Is this the best restaurant in Tampa? Yes. Why? The prices are ridiculously low and the food is all lovingly prepared and tasttttty. It's a very casual comfortable place that shares a strip mall with Petra Restaurant (not the Petra hookahclub across the street) a Latin market with a great food counter, and the Haitian eatery Kreyol Delight. This is Trinidadian and maybe some Guyanese food. Lots of specialties. Vegetarian dishes. Jerk chicken. Similarities with Jamaican cuisine (both were British colonies). Get some.

I hate I don't have better things to say about this spot that we were really excited to try. I will…read moresay that upon arrival, everything seemed to be going fine. The owner greeted us at the door, it was fairly empty so there was no wait and we were seated right away. The ambiance is nice. It does look like you've stepped into the VIP area of a restaurant, so it was cute -- not fancy, but cute. The owner then told us about the restaurant being inspired by his mother, they've been around for 10 years, explained the menu etc., it was nice. He also told us that he hadn't been to Jamaica since a kid and that raised an eyebrow -- but we let it go because he wasn't the cook. MIND YOU, I brought my cousin here (who is Jamaican) after seeing decent reviews about it. He brought over our first round of drinks and they were really good. We really enjoyed them. They weren't strong at all, tasted like juice. So I would recommend just getting juice instead of the +$5 to add rum. As we began to order and look at the menu, the prices were really HIGH, but I guess he was going for upscale cuisine -- so we said OK, let's see what this entails. We all ordered the Taste of the Island plater that gave an oxtail, curry goat and jerk chicken, rice and peas, plaintains and a tiny side salad. I wasn't mad at the portions given, but the flavor didn't hit the mark at all. NOW LETS GET INTO THE FOOD The Jerk Chicken was OVERLY spicy; we couldn't even enjoy the flavor. The oxtails were fatty, sweet and BLACK. Not enjoyable at all. The goat was OK, but not very flavorful in my opinion. The beef patties were good, but probably out of a box. The Roti was good and the oxtail dipping sauce was good. The Honey BBQ Wings were pretty good and cooked well. The Mac'n'Cheese -- DO NOT GET THIS. It literally has NO taste and reminded me of the cup mac'n'cheese that you put the powder cheese in. It took so long to bring it out, I guess he kept forgetting about it (they said everything is made to order) -- which, IDK how you make mac'n'cheese to order. Real cooks know, Mac n cheese is NOT a 5-minute made to order meal. He also didn't ask how we enjoyed the meal -- which I felt like he knew what we knew when he saw that not only did the other table leave a plate full of food (the meats) but our plates resembled the same -- he still collected his coin. There is a 20% gratuity that is added on at the end that is ridiculous considering the prices are already so expensive -- MIND YOU, it is not "Elevate Cuisine", its basic Jamaican dishes on Ikea plates. No special plating, no unique sauces or display, no chef's plating or anything. Just a plate of food. Everyone's bill came in over $100. The table nearby us order the same thing and inquired whether or not we liked our food, but we'd just gotten our food and hadn't tried it yet -- we did warn them about the chicken being spicy, but not everything else. They came after us and left before us and left everything on the plate except the rice and peas. I love black owned businesses and I wish this much more success, but I would NOT recommend it to anyone that is looking for authentic Jamaican food.

Thankfully, I went a few hours after they opened so they were fully stocked with patties. I ordered one of each - curry chicken, spinach, veggie, and beef. I placed an order for a large oxtail dinner, large jerk chicken, and medium brown stew chicken meal. Each meal comes with rice and peas, cabbage, and plantains. I also asked for extra gravy on the rice. I waited for about 10 minutes and received my hefty order. My dad had the oxtails, and said he wish he had more oxtails in the dinner as there was only 4 or 5. However they were on the larger size in comparison to other Jamaican spots. My mom loved the spice on the Jerk chicken as did I. It had that kick you expect and needed. My brown stew chicken was very good. The chicken was tender and the browning sauce was really good especially with the rice and peas. We did all say we wish there was more peas within the rice. The patties were fresh and I had both the spinach and curry chicken. The curry had a kick and was very savory. It made me want to order their curry chicken meal the next time I stop in. Also, did I mention they give you ALOT of food, so you will have plenty of leftovers.
