I asked several question about how the dishes were prepared and I figured no on can mess up stew chicken. Well I was so so wrong!! Let's say if you are a real authentic Jamaican and know how to cook. I am in love with the jerk chicken here. The prices are amazing, the portions are big enough to give me two meals and when I order my jerk chicken spicy I always leave satisfied. I work close enough to pop in for lunch to grab food to go. The wait is never super long and the food comes out fresh. I never have to worry about getting chicken that is fatty or filled with bones. The meat is good and tender and falls off the bones. The rice and peas that comes with it are delicious on their own too. I have considered stopping by just to get rice and peas and try to pass them off as my own. They are delicious and a great compliment to the chicken. The salad I could do without but I get anyway because I don't like cabbage and I just feel like I should have some green with all the meat and carbs. If you go on day when it's chicken and roti, just know that the roti does not disappoint either. The woman who is always at the counter is super nice and always friendly when I come in. It's a small unassuming shop on Busch but if you can find it in the sea of strip plaza full of variety shops you'll keep coming back too. They have room to dine in or because I feel like I need more space and privacy to dig in like I really want to you could just drop in and grab your food to go like I usually do. i am so excited to see a halal caribbean place. they have lunch and dinner specials everyday and prices are very reasonable. portions are huge! customer service is EXCELLENT here and i love how the owner remembers my preferences. there are a lot of things on the menu that i can't wait to try! here is what i had so far: - oxtail: glad i can say i tried it. it came in a thick broth with beans. it was good, but i was a little weirded out eating oxtail. perhaps i should have started with baby steps. - roti: huge and similar to desi roti - doubles: it's like a puri (type of indian bread) sandwich with a chana (or chickpea) and potato mixture filling and spicy sauce; very good - pineapple upside down cake: thick slice and it was REALLY good! i've also had it with some guava and it was soooo good! - jerk chicken: my favorite item on the menu so far! it's perfectly seasoned and the meat just falls off the bone - collard greens: tried it here for the first time; it's good - cabbage: very good; probably my favorite side of vegetables here - fried rice: i love rice and this goes along perfectly with jerk chicken - stew chicken: very hearty and filling read more

But as for doubles, a Trinidadian staple, nothing compares to the authenticity of the taste. Super yummy! Had lunch here today. My fiancé had jerk chicken. He said it's the best he's had since we moved from Miami. I had the Chana with soy chunks, rice beans, and greens. Homemade Jamaican beef patty was one of the best I have ever had. What a nice change from the generic patty from Jerk Hut. Get some of their homemade scotch bonnet hot sauce on side which goes great with the patty and really anything :) The lady behind the counter was so friendly. Tara's Roti Shop could take some lessons from this place in service. So much more pleasant. Homemade Sorrel Juice is very tasty and helps cut the scotch bonnet heat. LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE. I had doubles with pepper and kuchela (yes, real kuchela!) and a curry goat roti. Everything was tasty. Roti was huge - I had plenty of leftovers for the next day. This restaurant is horrible!!!!! Being that I'm from Jamaica, I am embarrassed to know that this place has the word Caribbean in their name. I ordered oxtail and rice and peas, and I must say that it was the worst tasting food that I've ever had. The oxtail was full of fat, there was barely any meat, and it wasn't seasoned at all. The rice was ridiculously soft, and the peas wasn't even the regular red peas. I will never ever eat from this place again. Best vegan / Non-vegan Island food in Tampa. I'm vegan, and my boyfriend is very much so not vegan, and this is one of our favourite places to eat. Each bite is flavorful, the DOUBLES are out of this world! I always get the soya chunks, collard greens and rice and beans. He's a huge fan of the Jerk and stew chicken. I am not one to write review but this place deserves it. First impression walking in... OMG this place smells amazing! The menu is extensive with a mix of West Indian flavors NOT just Jamaican food. I ordered a doubles, curry beef, oxtail, Stewed chicken and vegetable soup not all for me of course but I had to sample everything. I had the doubles and soup and it was probably the best that I have ever had. The stewed chicken was OK i really wasn't a fan BUT everything else was really delicious with the right amount of spice. I actually like my food very spicy so the very pleasant owner gave me some extra scotch bonnet sauce not sure if its homemade sauce but it was really good and spicy. I found this place on Yelp and it was some great food. I had the Jerk Chicken with two sides which consisted of Red Beans and Yellow Rice plus the Cabbage. The portion side was a lot and I actually made two meals out of the one. The food still tasted great the next day when I reheated it in the microwave. The price is good too considered the amount of food that they give you. The place was clean and the lady who took my order was very helpful. This place is a gem and so is the lady that runs it. The goat and oxtail are my favorite. The prices are great by themselves but there is a lunch special every day for like five bucks. Everything is halal and made onsite every day so be warned that she does run out of dishes sometimes! Also, unfortunately, they are closed on Sundays. The Menu is a clear cut one, walked in and with one glance knew that I want the Jerk chicken with rice & Bean. The lady working in the kitchen came to the front and promptly took my order. She informed me that it will take a few minutes to get it prepared. I waited for around 10 min, and the food was out. The lady realized that this was my first visit here, and she started a friendly chat as to how I found out about this place along with pointing out the lunch/dinner specials, and this enlightened me to a certain point to know when to visit for a good deal. Now on to the food, since it was take out I didn't really see how much food was in the box. But as soon as I reached back to my work place and opened the box, I was surprised to see 4 drumsticks with a heap of rice and beans along with the steamed cabbage. The fragrance from food was amazing, the chicken was amazing, appropriate amount of salt and spices, rice was soft and a bit wet which made it even better. I finished the rice, but am still left with 3 jerk drumsticks, saving them for a later meal. Now the price was $8.25, and in the beginning I was thinking that I should have just upgraded to a large box and pay the extra $2, but I am glad I didn't. There was more than enough food.
