A very unique and special treasure in Omaha. The staff there are very down to earth and ALWAYS greet you with a warm smile and make you feel at home. The atmosphere is a trip! I got lost in all of the fun Jamaican and Bob Marley items that you can purchase or just observe. The food? AMAZING! I have had the oxtail, goat curry, jerk chicken, and chicken stew. I loved every dish. With the 5.99 express take out, you can afford to try it all. Thus far, I think I love the the oxtail the best. Wish I could give 3.5 stars. I am generally soft hearted towards family run businesses, so I bumped up instead of rounding down. Went on a weekday afternoon. They took 10 minutes to just come and get us some water. We ordered the jerk chicken and goat curry. Took sweet 20 minutes for our order to arrive with not many people. I think there was only one guy cooking for everyone. The food was good and the steamed veggie salad that they serve is very good. We ended up getting the fruit cake for dessert. The wife and I stopped in for a casual meal last weekend. We were heading someplace else that turned out to be closed, and we dropped in to Caribbean Delights because we were already in the neighborhood. The location in a old strip mall doesn't inspire much hope for a sublime dining experience, but walking through the front door and taking a single breath will instantly get you excited about the meal to come. The fragrances coming from the kitchen are wonderful The restaurant is small and very casual but also comfortable. My wife and I started our meal by sharing an order of hot jerk chicken wings. They were delicious and not overly hot with regard to seasoning. They were meaty and moist, with plenty of jerk spices coating them. My wife opted for the ox tail dinner with beans and rice. I ordered the curry goat dinner with beans and rice. Both of our dinners included a kind of hot lettuce slaw on the plate; it was a bit of an odd side dish but it worked nicely to break up the richness of the stewed meats between bites. My wife was kind enough to let me swipe a bite of her ox tail from her plate; I wasn't too surprised when I offered her a bite of my curry goat and she declined. My wife isn't a big fan of lamb, either. Both dishes were excellent, and the portion sizes were filling without being over-the-top. There was an older man and two teens working. Really bad first experience. I was picking up a Postmates order and I had to stand and wait for 35 minutes. They were supposed to already have it ready. OK, so the tables are sticky, the restaurant is small, the location is so so, but the food is sooooo great! This is a great Jamaican restaurant. The food was very fresh. We started with the chicken wings - excellent. I had the Jamaican Jerk chick - again excellent. My children had the Brown Stew (ok, again, chicken). All excllent. Prices are moderate to low. Having had food from here to-go and in house, I must say I like it. A lot. While not really formed for an Herbivore to partake, the items I do eat are fantastic. I like the Calliloo which seems to consist of greens or kale and lemon and thyme. steamed and just tender. I like to mix it with the rice. Many Rastafarians (if not all;) are vegetarian. The store is a lil' bit of Jamaica and a tad bit Omaha. You can come in and purchase your Marley gear, a hat to hold your 'locks, and maybe a ganja belt buckle as well. The food and for me the hot sauce are the draw. Have you ever been at HyVee and gotten those huge bananas you thought were on sale? then when you get home you peel it and know you messed up? That's a plantain, silly. They are the best when fried and I have not made better myself. the dumplings are semi sweet and great to dip in a sauce if you get a meal that is a bit saucy My Veggie wrap was pretty good, but I would love to see more peppers and the like in it. Love this restaurant. Food is flavorful and fresh. Brown stew chicken is melt in your mouth savory. How some cabbage with a few carrots can taste so good, I don't know but it is yummy. The plantains are excellent. Beans and rice very tasty. My brother had the jerk ribs which were sweet and hot. Tried the oxtail was was great also. Pineapple daiquiri was small but made with fresh pineapple and strong. The only thing I didn't like was the rum runner. I could have run my car on it. But overall fantastic experience. Glad to give my money to a family run business instead of a corporation. And you can pick up some jewelry, hot sauce or cute hats at the little shop while you wait. One criticism is they should turn off the TV's and play music. If I want to eat and watch tv I can stay at home. Too many Omaha restaurants have an abundance of tv. read more

If you like exotic full flavored food come here! There is alot of jerk, curry and ginger used here. I had the jerk wings as an appetizer and they were amazing. Tender, juicy and coated in an amazing tangy jerk sauce. I had curry chicken for the main course with a side of fried plantains. The chicken tasted like it had been slow cooked all day. I must admit that I don't have much experience with Caribbean food, but the bbq jerk chicken was delicious. It had just the right amount of spice, was super juicy, and the bbq sauce added a tangy sweet deliciousness. The fried dumplings remind me of a fried bread stick. They worked well with a bite of chicken or just dipped in the sauce. I tried Caribbean Delights with a Co-worker and it was sooooo Good a week later I took my daughter who was visiting from Denver to dinner there. I have had the BBQ Jerk Chicken (mild) and Beans and rice as a side. Then I tried the OX tails with sweet mashed potatoes. It was all very good. I go to this place at least 3 times a month. Sometimes more. Let me start off my saying the food is EXCELLENT. The best Jamaican food I've had anywhere in the county...and I travel a lot. So giving the restaurant one star is not about the food. Again, the food is EXCELLENT. It's about the customer service. The last time I was in, my takeout order was incorrect. When I got home, I called the restaurant to let the owner know about the issue. Instead of simply acknowledging he screwed up and fixing my order, he made me jump through hoops just to try and prove the order was incorrect. I spend too much money in there to be treated that way. As much as I like it, I will never go back out of principle. I hope that a 3 dollar side dish was worth losing a longtime customer AND his friends. Very bad way to do business. I tried to deal with this situation one on one, but the owner did nothing to rectify the situation. read more

This was a terrific find. On a windy and rainy evening, the oxtail with rice and beans was comfort food at its best. Use the fork and knife to remove the tender bits of meat and then use the spoon to scoop up perfect bites of meat, rice and beans mixed in with the sauce. Lemonade was refreshing. Just had my first meal in this place and we will be making this a regular stop. Driven by many times and decided to try it based on all the positive stuff on this site. Decor is what you would expect in a strip mall on north 72nd, so head to west O if that is important to you. We enjoyed the spicy jerked wings, curry chicken, and jerked chicken and I don't think you can get a meal like this anywhere else in Omaha. Excellent food and service. We met the owner, and he talked with us for ten minutes about the island and our upcoming vacation. Very friendly atmosphere. We had the rum punch which was very strong by good :) The jerk chicken wings are a must have. Delicious flavor. Jerk chicken entree was flavorful as well. The traditional island dish of salted cod and Ackee (native fruit) was so good we are going back next week to have again. Note: red beans and rice are very spicy!!!!! My family loves this place. Yes they are slow, but it's not fast food! And we always have fun conversations there. The patties are exactly like what we use to have overnighted to us from new york. So my roommate and I ate here last night, I thought based upon others reviews that I would be highly pleased...WRONG....I understand that it's a family run restaurant, but seriously does your family literally need to be running around the restaurant. The atmosphere was horrible, they have a teenage daughter who was walking back and forth on her cell phone, we heard her whole conversation, they have two little ones a boy and a girl, they kept running around the place, I was so over it when I got there, my fingers were burning to yelp, lol ugg so we got there around 815 I understand they close at 9, so lol the menu lol basically what we could choose from was either the jerked bbq ribs or the jerked chicken, so I got the ribs and my roommate got the chicken-mild, well it took a little time for the food to come out, which was not a problem, the problem was listening to 2 televisions, 2 little kids, and 1 teenager on a cell phone, ugg ...so our food finally comes out, with our appetizer........just to cut this short the food was greasy, we boxed it up and left, will NEVER return to that restaurant....I gave a small restaurant a chance and it failed....hummmmmmmmmmmm...but I won't allow this experience to shade on any other small restaurants..... read more

We were visiting Omaha for the first time and used Yelp to find some local places to eat (avoiding chains at all costs!!). We took a chance at this small local eatery and what a delight it was!! The food was INCREDIBLE!! The food was so tasty and while we are not experts in Jamaican food, we talked with some other patrons that were. They confirmed that this was traditional Jamaican food. The spices were so clean yet not overbearing. I had fish and my husband had brown chicken stew. My husband said that the vegetables were the best he had ever had!! Not only was the food wonderful the price was very reasonable. We spoke with the owner for a little while after dinner and what a great and friendly guy he was. The only West Indian food restaurant I know of in Omaha. The oxtail is great. Meat falls right off the bones. Stew chicken is good too. Never gotten their Jerk Chicken. Caribbean Delight is an absolute delight! I am native to the Omaha area but have been to Jamaica a few times which includes my wedding. We had Caribbean Delight cater our reception of 300 people. We had beef patties, mashed sweet potato (not what you'd think but is the most amazing side!), jerk chicken, steam veggies, etc.. This is a must try restaurant especially if you love jerk chicken! The food does take some time but the point of being in this place to relax and enjoy yourself, just as if you were on the island. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! read more

My girlfriend and I visited Caribbean Delights for the first time today and loved it! Whenever we go to a new place we like to try a little bit of everything so for entrees we got the jerk chicken, oxtail, and jerk BBQ ribs. The sides we tried were the rice&beans, bami, and the cabbage that came with all three. We also tried their lemonade and rum punch both of which were exquisite. This food is delicious! All of it! I couldn't possibly rave enough about it. To top it off the service was excellent and it was a very welcoming atmosphere, as if they had invited me to sit at their dining room table.
