What I wanted was sexy succulent oxtails were the gravy covers your lips and coats your tongue meat so tender you don't have to chew just swallow flavor so good you wanna eat your own fingers with rice and peas and juicy sweet plantains I GOTS NONE OF THAT I never had dry oxtail no gravy whatsoever. Tender but not as tender as it could be. The plantains were also dry and hard not really sweet. They left the super big stems from the fresh herbs. The oxtail and plantains were so dry I could swear they were cooked at least a week ahead of time. The rice was okay and so was the patties. I had one beef and one chicken curry. Over all I was so so disappointed and for $25 a platter like I really want my money back. I will never go back. You should always take pride in your food and business. read more

I was in Jersey for a concert and was really hungry. I drove around a bit and came across this Jamaican spot; you can imagine how excited I was, since I'm an Island girl. I ordered a side of Jerk chicken, patties and a drink. I could not wait to eat. (Sigh) I was a bit disappointed because the Jerk chicken portions were way too big and it seemed as if they were done in the oven instead of on the grill. Authentic Jamaican Jerk Chicken is not usually served with gravy and this had way too much; it was almost like a stew but with less gravy. Ordered take out again ... decided to try the Garlic Shrimp (along with our usual Jerk Chicken and Brown Stewed Chicken). Not sure it was a good idea ... as the (few) shrimps were large ... but lacked flavor and definitely needed more garlic. I had their jerk wings and chicken curry as well as their Jerk Chicken in sauce and their empanadas. Their jerk wings were not very good and dry. Their chicken curry and jerk chicken in sauce were very flavorful. I didn't not like their empanadas as they were not fresh but kept warm. For someone going in for the first time the people were not very friendly nor accommodating to help you and explain to you their dishes. I love Jamaican food but this place just wasn't it for me. The food looks delicious but has absolutely 0 taste. I honestly couldn't finish my platter! I hate wasting food but I just couldn't eat it. I came in around 4pm on a Saturday and ordered the curry chicken, patties, and a rum cake. Everything was incredible!! Including the rice & peas, cabbage, and plantains that came with. Amazing flavor and good portions. The staff were very kind and welcoming even seeing that they were a bit busy. I've been trying to find a good Jamaican spot in this area and this is it! I had to throw bbq sauce on it because I had no jerk at home. Cabbage was bland and rice wasn't fully cooked. The beef & cheese empanada was really good! The staff was friendly. Today was a experience here I ordered oxtails platter with rice n beans they weren't done beans were hard still ,cabbage it was delicious , the Mac n cheese was terrible , dried out and nothing in the inside just noodles that all. The amount of food was great and my first bite of chicken was okay and got progressively worse. The chicken was old and visible dry. I couldn't even finish it. There wasn't even any gravy to mask it. It's been a while since I had some really good Caribbean food. It's almost not fair that I compare all other Caribbean food to the one on south street. Anyway I was really excited because they had the parking lot seating decked out like the one on south street, and I was like, "Finally some really good jerk chicken after being disappointed so often!" Obviously I walked in excited and the girl who greeted me seemed friendly. I told her I was really excited to find this place, and she kinda gave me an annoyed attitude. I was torn between the ox tail and jerk chicken, but opted for the jerk chicken because I wanted that spice. First bite I was like, okay I taste hints of jerk but absolute no spice or wow factor. We have ordered from Caribbean Paradise several times over the past couple of years, and every time it is seriously delicious. My husband orders jerk chicken, goat, and oxtail and I usually go with chicken or shrimp. We don't have pictures to add because we usually devour it as soon as we get it home. Even my two year old kept coming back for more bites of chicken which fell off the bone and my son was excited to try the oxtail! This time we tried the mango carrot juice too and it was so good! We had a taste for oxtails and came across Caribbean Paradise during our google search. So we figured we'd give them a try. We ordered 2 oxtails platters and 2 beef patties with a Kola. The only thing that didn't disappoint us was the Kola. The beef patties were dried out and tasted old. As for the oxtails, well we both ended up on the toilet. They tasted scorched, even had black burnt pieces in it. Need less to say we will never order from them again. read more
