What began as a simple happy hour with friends became an unforgettable journey into the heart of the Caribbean at KATZ Restaurant in North Miami. From the moment I arrived, the hospitality was extraordinary. I had the privilege of meeting the owner, who graciously shared her vision for the restaurant's exciting future, including plans for an elegant new lounge. She personally gave me a tour of the establishment, making me feel less like a guest and more like family. Then came the food. I was introduced to the legendary Chef France, whose reputation as an executive chef to the stars is well deserved. I also had the pleasure of meeting his talented sous chef. Every dish that arrived surpassed the one before it. The evening's standout for me was the Haitian akra--crispy codfish fritters bursting with perfectly balanced Caribbean spices and flavor. Every bite was a celebration of culture and craftsmanship. A couple of glasses of Pinot Grigio paired beautifully with an endless parade of remarkable small plates, while the soft rhythms of Caribbean Afrobeat created the perfect backdrop. The music never competed for attention--it simply embraced the experience. The most remarkable part? They had no idea I was coming. There was no special preparation, no fanfare. Yet I was treated with a level of warmth, elegance, and genuine hospitality that made the evening feel truly extraordinary. KATZ Restaurant doesn't simply serve Caribbean cuisine--it transports you there. It invites you to experience the rich heritage, warmth, and soul of Hispaniola, the island shared by Haiti and the Dominican Republic, through every flavor, every conversation, and every smile. If you're looking for more than dinner--if you're looking for an experience--I wholeheartedly recommend KATZ Restaurant in North Miami. Some restaurants feed your appetite. The exceptional ones feed your soul. - Patrickism

I enjoyed myself to the fullest. My friend had the griot platter, she said the meat was tender and everything on the plate was a solid 8/10! Check out the Katz for great food and poetry.

The flavors were really hittin--not salty but definitely not lacking in flavor and complexity. So delicious The only criticism I would have from what I ordered is that the rice was ever so slightly undercooked which made it a bit dry. Other than that, everything was great. There's not really a server--you order and they text you when it's ready. Then you come pick it up and go to your table. But the cashier lady was very nice and helped me decide what to get.

If you're looking for something unique to try at the Citadel, Manjay is worth a shot. They serve Haitian cuisine. Portions were generous and in general, the food was kind of heavy. Many of the components I believe were made to order, so there was a short wait. Here's what my wife and I ordered: Appetizer: * Caribbean Conch Fritters ($14) - Manjay pikliz, honey mustard remoulade These were big and tasty. Six pieces, like giant hush puppies with conch inside. The plate came with pikliz in the center. Pikliz is like the Haitian version of coleslaw, made with cabbage, carrots, onions, and peppers. Manjay's version was spicy and yummy. Bowls, each with 2 sides and 1 sauce: * Honey Jerk Chicken Bowl ($18) - breaded and tossed in Manjay's homemade honey jerk sauce; with red beans rice and sweet plantains and scotch bonnet mango aioli * From Haiti with Love (Griyo) ($18) - Deep-fried Kreyol-style slow-braised pork; with banan payzay and toofay Both the chicken and pork were very good and flavorful. The pork was served bone-in. The rice and beans and sweet plantains were comforting and addictive. The scotch bonnet mango aioli was spicy. Banan payzay are Haitian pressed plantains. These were savory and starchy. The toofay ("legume") was good too. It's a hearty vegetable stew, essentially Haitian ratatouille. Our cashier was Roniqua and she was nice. During our visit, I think Manjay had the longest line (a good sign). After walking around, looking at the other food court options and seeing Manjay's high rating on Yelp, we were sold on Manjay. We dined in so we got real plates and silverware. We actually took everything up to the rooftop bar and ate up there. Our trays were bussed by the staff on the roof. Along with this location at the Citadel food court in Little River (just north of Little Haiti), Manjay has a casual strip location near the Miami airport in Doral. This Citadel location is the original; it opened in February 2019. The Doral location opened in 2024.

Server was so nice and food was ready when we arrived. The place is small, very clean and relaxed vibe. We tried this place cuz its rates really well online. I was not disappointed. We tried a few different types of wings and none of us agreed on our favorites! So that's good because it means there's something for everyone. Here were the wings we tried: 1) jerk pineapple- my favorite, not too spicy , not too sweet, not overly saucy, and just delicious 2) mango habanero- a little spicy, a little sweet. Very tasty. Maybe a little too much sauce for me 3) sweet and spicy- I also like this one , it was similar in spice to the spicy habanero but not as sweet. 4) spicy lemon pepper- this I did not like. It was too sour and too peppery. As for the sides and drinks... the fries were just fine , the mozzarella sticks were bad, but the guava pineapple juice was AMAZING!! All in all I will definitely come back.
