Rice and beans with fried meatballs and a side of fried plantains
    Ashley P.

I've been going to Au Bon Gout for quite sometime and the food is always good! Today, I ordered rice and beans (diri cole) and meatballs (boulet) it was amazing per usual. The only thing they can work in is their customer service, but other than that it's a really good place to eat whether it's for breakfast, lunch, or dinner.

If you ask me what the best cuisine is I'm going to say Haitian food!!! I know. I know. I'm biased but it's the truth. It's really hard to find Haitian cooking like your mama but if you're looking for delicious haitian food this is it. Now forewarning it is a Caribbean restaurant so there might be a little of a wait. Okay a long wait but once you bite into your food well worth it. My go to order is always diri Jon Jon [the infamous black mushroom rice] and boulettes [haitian meatballs]. The meatballs are a little on tbe spicy side but notbing a little water won't assist you with. The rice is always amazing that you have to get a second order. This restaurant is cash only so keep that in mind. All in all if you're looking for the best haitian food in Miami Au Bon Gout it is!

I couldn't find soup joumou anywhere, so I searched 'Haitian food' on yelp & found this gem. The ladies behind the counter were super busy, but there still wasn't a long wait, & everyone was polite & upbeat. My soup joumou was amazing. It was thick & flavorful. It was loaded with vegetables, & the portions were huge. This is definitely a place to try for authentic Haitian food.

Red beans and rice. This is apparently a hidden treasure.

Their way of having customer service is calling the customer honey, sweetie, any terms of endearment.

This was my 1st time coming here. Its a little hole in the wall. Those always seem to be the best spots. I enjoyed the food! I love a saucy type of food. I ordered the oxtail and it came in a red sauce with onions and carrots. It was gooood to me. My husband ordered the groit. He didn't like it as much (he's getting sick) but I thought it was flavorful and good with the piclez. I would go back next time in town.

When i tell you this is the best griot i HAVE EVER HADDDD!!! the portions are freakign huge!! deslish fresh and amazing!

The flavors were really hittin--not salty but definitely not lacking in flavor and complexity. So delicious The only criticism I would have from what I ordered is that the rice was ever so slightly undercooked which made it a bit dry. Other than that, everything was great. There's not really a server--you order and they text you when it's ready. Then you come pick it up and go to your table. But the cashier lady was very nice and helped me decide what to get.

If you're looking for something unique to try at the Citadel, Manjay is worth a shot. They serve Haitian cuisine. Portions were generous and in general, the food was kind of heavy. Many of the components I believe were made to order, so there was a short wait. Here's what my wife and I ordered: Appetizer: * Caribbean Conch Fritters ($14) - Manjay pikliz, honey mustard remoulade These were big and tasty. Six pieces, like giant hush puppies with conch inside. The plate came with pikliz in the center. Pikliz is like the Haitian version of coleslaw, made with cabbage, carrots, onions, and peppers. Manjay's version was spicy and yummy. Bowls, each with 2 sides and 1 sauce: * Honey Jerk Chicken Bowl ($18) - breaded and tossed in Manjay's homemade honey jerk sauce; with red beans rice and sweet plantains and scotch bonnet mango aioli * From Haiti with Love (Griyo) ($18) - Deep-fried Kreyol-style slow-braised pork; with banan payzay and toofay Both the chicken and pork were very good and flavorful. The pork was served bone-in. The rice and beans and sweet plantains were comforting and addictive. The scotch bonnet mango aioli was spicy. Banan payzay are Haitian pressed plantains. These were savory and starchy. The toofay ("legume") was good too. It's a hearty vegetable stew, essentially Haitian ratatouille. Our cashier was Roniqua and she was nice. During our visit, I think Manjay had the longest line (a good sign). After walking around, looking at the other food court options and seeing Manjay's high rating on Yelp, we were sold on Manjay. We dined in so we got real plates and silverware. We actually took everything up to the rooftop bar and ate up there. Our trays were bussed by the staff on the roof. Along with this location at the Citadel food court in Little River (just north of Little Haiti), Manjay has a casual strip location near the Miami airport in Doral. This Citadel location is the original; it opened in February 2019. The Doral location opened in 2024.

The oxtail was tender, flavorful, and fell right off the bone. It was so good that I couldn't wait until I got home to finish my leftovers. I ended up eating them in the car. The restaurant itself is spacious, with plenty of seating both inside and outside. The atmosphere was lively and energetic, and the place was packed when I visited. Be prepared to wait, but trust me, it's worth it. The drinks were another highlight. They were sweet, strong, and complemented the meal perfectly. DJ Bre kept the vibe going all night with a great mix of music that added to the overall experience without overpowering the conversation. Great food, great drinks, and great energy. The vibe of the space feels like they brought in the murals of wynwood to their interior design. The music selection was rap hit after rap hit, loved. We sat at the bar. Our server was Marcus. He was so helpful and attentive. Gave us his menu recommendations, which we followed suit. We ordered the duck dumplings and the sweet potato croquettes from the HH menu. From the regular menu, we ordered the bbq toro and the oxtail udon. The duck dumplings had a rich au jus, great. Our favorite app was the sweet potato croquette. Slightly sweet, a satisfying crunch, but soft in the center with tender brisket. The white bbq sauce and parm gave it a nice smoky nuttiness. Ordered another round, they were so good! The bbq toro had an amazing smokey flavor and a nice citrusy butter as the sauce. The cut was perfect. The oxtail udon was really hearty, and by far the best dish we had (though all the dishes were seriously incredible). It comes with a cured egg yolk, which they mix for you tableside. There was a good amount of oxtail in the dish and the udon sauce - bottle it for me please and thank youuu.

Sometimes less is more. I booked brunch for the Sunday after Valentine's Day. The reservation was confirmed, but then I found out they don't even open until 5 PM that day. How does a brunch reservation get confirmed for a time when the restaurant isn't open? I decided to give it another try this weekend and went at 5 PM to sit at the bar. The hostess told me there was a "Hungry Post" event happening. I asked about the price and she said it was $100 per person. Okay, fine -- but when I asked what the event included or what it was about, she seemed unsure and said it was "just a party" and that you just go in. No explanation of what was included, no specials, nothing. Charging $100 per person just to attend a "party" with no clear details feels odd and poorly communicated. I genuinely want this place to succeed because the food and drinks are great -- I just wish they would focus on that and improve communication and organization instead of trying so hard to be trendy.

Our waitress, Marcia from Venezuela, was friendly and enthusiastic about the menu and making sure our evening was fun. We started with mojitos and a Margo-no-rita. Sugar cane and mint leaves spill out of the top of the mojitos. My wife said she didn't miss the alcohol in the Rita. We moved on to ham croquettes and empanadas. The croquettes are flavor bombs with the lime salt sending them to the next level. The empanadas are good and full of meat filling. We had 4 different entrees and shared them. My smoked pork was a tad dry but the Smokey presentation offset the texture. We did have to move the smoker off the table as it got eye irritating. I would have also liked a plate to move everything to after the wow factor. (I should have asked for one). My wife's fried fish is served whole in chunky bites. Flavored well it was great on its own. She thought the chili oil sauce had an Asian flare which felt off theme. Our friends dishes were the flank steak (good size and flavor) which was cooked to his required doneness, and the Marabu Charcoal pork. Both dishes were delicious with their sauces. Marcia suggested a fiery sauce if we liked heat. We told her to bring it and it did not disappoint. Heat at all levels left a good lingering heat for minutes. It was good with everything. We skipped dessert as we were full and chose to window shop in the mall to walk off a full belly. Highly recommend, ask for Marcia and we will be back.
