The grits were really creamy although you can tell they're cooked with chicken broth rather than heavy cream, which is the traditional southern way. It is a bit small inside maybe 10 tables total but they have a nice patio in front that's fairly expensive. I would definitely return as a regular to this establishment. I'm not sure why they don't give teaspoons, but when I asked for a spoon, I got a large soup spoon. Not sure about this. We placed our orders and everything came out fine, except when I started eating my bowl of fruit side, all the grapes were brown on top. Seems like something noticeable that is not as fresh to serve to a customer. Disappointed with this too. Another thing to mention, we had to ask for water refills. Then when someone brought over a refill they brought a carafe. Why not start out with the carafe? Server waits until end of meal to bring it, then brings another glass afterwards with water too. A lot of these issues seem to be training and management of the restaurant. I have been to other locations with better service. So, overall, food was good. I'm usually disappointed with how restaurants cook scrambled eggs with cheese, but the chef at Neighborhood Cafe knows how to do it right. The eggs are never overcooked, and the cheese is always melted throughout. He sets the standard for how scrambled eggs should be made! I'll often rotate sides, but lately I've been having a half avocado with the eggs. The avocado is ALWAYS fresh and never brown. Other times, I'll get a salad or fruit. I appreciate that they have so many side options. If they have a quiche that I like (no asiago or goat cheese for me), I'll have the quiche entree. They serve that dish with two sides, and I always get the salad and fruit. Their dressings are homemade, and are so good! My husband's current favorite is the Ranchero Scramble. He was seated in the dining room barking orders to the workers the entire time, "take the trash out" "clean the bathrooms" etc. All this while we & other customers were eating. Then after we finished our meals & was presented the check, he approached our table & asked if we were done, because he "was tryna go to work". Whatever that means. He then presented to tell us that they closed at 2pm & it was now 2:15. I explained to him that we were planning on leaving momentarily, however his comments were unprofessional. I'm sorry the workers have to deal with him. I won't be back while he's employed there.
