Purchased 3 dozen crabs male and female. My brother-in-law thought ...all 3 dozen are in one bagThe sample crabs the seller offered to us were not what was sold to us. Those were a nice size. What was in the bag were 2-2 1/2. My niece described them as babies and teenagers. In other words they were not adult crabs. Isn't it against the law to keep and sell crabs smaller than 5 inches. Beware of false advertisement and this also explains why there is a "no refund"sign in the store. The good would be they did taste good. Very well seasoned read more

That was one incredible piece of flounder that I purchased from Jeff today at Carino's Seafood. What a great guy. Jeff's small wharf-style fish monger shop was a blast from the past. It was part seaside shanty and part American Pickers with some classic collections up on the fireplace mantel. His refrigeration case was perfect. It was not overwhelming or overflowing with stuff that was never going to sell. I took it home, rinsed, patted dry and placed it over a bed of olive oil coated ground carrots on a baking sheet. Atop I squoze the juice of a large lemon, five pads of butter and a light dusting of salt and pepper. I slid it into a 350 degree oven and in about 25 minutes my wife and I had a deliciously moist flounder dinner for about $8 each. With a side of scalloped potatoes from Costco and some LaSur baby peas it was delightful. You don't have to go out for a wallet draining Seafood dinner in Williamsburg. While visiting Williamsburg in early May, we were having no luck finding Maryland blue crabs in restaurants/markets without driving too far. After a couple days of searching, this is the only seafood market nearby that have them. It's a small run down looking shack, but they have the blue crabs available along other seafood as well. They can even cook them for you to go! Although the crabs were small in early season and all females, but they are quite meaty. More importantly we got our 'blue crab fix' :-D The owner and his wife was really nice. read more

Have faithfully supported this locally owned business for years, until today. As I waited outside to enter Carino's, I learned from an exiting customer that the owner was not wearing a mask. I called on my cellphone to say I would shop elsewhere because he wasn't wearing one, he said I could go vote Democrat, and hung up on me. I called again to say my reason was because I was compromised by age and health, and he said he didn't give a sh**t. I was able to get some delicious seafood from a nearby stare that requires everyone to wear a mask. I think it will be quite tasty. read more

Finally!! We found a place to get steamed crabs!! We're from Maryland and we love our steamed crabs. So we were very disappointed when we moved here a couple years ago and discovered they weren't a common thing. Finally found Carino's and we are happy again. They aren't as big as you can get in Maryland but they aren't as expensive either. They were steamed and seasoned perfectly . We also got steamed spiced shrimp and they were also perfect. Great local fishmarket that we patronized the entire summer. They came highly recommended and didn't disappoint. Many fresh fish and shellfish options. They will pack and ice as well as Filet or Steam a variety of options. Nice and rustic, authentic local business. Not a chain, very knowledgeable about what they sell. The couple working the place will remind you of the cute old couple from The movie, "The princes bride". Sure, they won't greet you with a big box super market canned experience, but I'll give that up any day for someone that actually knows their product and a spouse that magically shows up to pack it all on ice for you. Avoid at all costs. This is my first review on Yelp -- this past experience was so terrible, I wanted to write one if only to save someone else from a similar experience. My family ordered a bushel of mixed crabs for 95 dollars. We cracked open the first crab to find it grey (nearly black) and mushy inside. We thought maybe it was just the one bad one in the bunch -- while there were a few decent ones, at least 85% were bad. We have been eating crabs for years, so we know what they should look and taste like. We called the owner to confirm how they were cooked to see if maybe it was because they were frozen (fresh from the morning's catch he claimed). We asked if he'd be willing to make an exchange for other seafood, as we just couldnt eat what he gave us. He refused, saying he wouldnt do anything and even yelled at us over the phone. Even when we said we werent interested in a refund and that we wanted him to inspect the batch and confirm it was safe to eat, he refused. We even brought the crabs to the resort staff to get another opinion (we went to Carinos on their recommendation) and they also confirmed there were bad crabs. On top of bad food, which was potentially a health risk, the total unprofessionalism and rudeness of the owner is not worth your money or time. read more

I went back to either replace them or get my money back and was told by the that I had to call HIS vendor- he does not guarantee the freshness of his seafood. I've never regret the first time I stepped into this place, which was on a whim to maybe purchase some fresh large shrimp to make shrimp and grits. What I didn't realize was they also have a small food menu that is very reasonably priced, especially for the quality. So I mentally committed to return for lunch or dinner on my way home some day. Today I had the fish combo and a crab cake sandwhich, both of which were excellent for a quick lunch take out. The gentleman working behind the counter wasn't rude, as expressed by another user, but was quite pleasant. It's not a place where you can sit and eat, so be prepared to get your food in a bag. The fish combo and crab cakes are fried, but weren't dry by any means (for me that's a deal breaker). Hush puppies have good flavor, and the fries are pretty average. Got lump crabmeat from Reedsville, VA for about half the price I paid when recently on the NC coast. Excellent quality in the large, clean lumps of fresh crabmeat. Wish we didn't live 3 hours away.
