Delicious lunch with friends! This was the first time dining at Waypoint for lunch, and it was very nice. I enjoyed a winter white cosmo and a grilled shrimp salad. My friends had wine, the crab and shrimp fritters, and the calamari. We had to ask for bread service, which was a warm cut baguette with an herb butter. While prices are a bit high for lunch compared with other high-end restaurants in Williamsburg, everyone enjoyed their drinks and meals. Service was polite and efficient. The dining was relaxing, with a roaring fire and tables spaced nicely apart. Parking is free and located out front. read more

Upscale seafood restaurant, very nice decor, obviously a special occasion place for fine dining. Of course the prices are commensurate with that, which was not unexpected. However, when dining at that level, I expect a little bit more, and tonight we just didn't get it. We were greeted by hostess and seated promptly, and our waitress was very personable. Limited special menu for Mother's Day, which we expected. We both had the stuffed oyster appetizers, which were fine, although I still am kicking myself for not getting the carpaccio. Mains arrived barely tepid. Server brought them back to be refried, manager stopped by and apologized. Meals (same ones) were returned and now we're a better temperature. Flavors were...okay. Sea Bass was thin and slightly overcooked, "lobster" cream sauce lacked any lobster or flavor - reminded me of a Thermidore. My Halibut was fresh and flakey, but crab stuffing was minimal, and artichoke sauce was very subtle. Deserts were also lacking; chocolate dome cake was not anything under a chocolate dome as expected, but more like a donut. My cheesecake was served in what appeared to be a premade tart shell, and the taste was just a little off. With many other restaurant choices available, we probably will not return, and could not honestly recommend. read more

Although the presentation of the Mother's Day meals looked good, the taste was not at all consistent. We started with stuffed oysters which were good, but then my sea bass was tepid and my hubby's halibut was also just barely edible due to the coldness of them. The server showed up after I took my first bite so I did respond that they needed to be warned up. She took them away and said the manager would speak with us. He apologized for this. We got them back, the original ones albeit they were warmed up, however my sea bass was not Chilean sea bass so it wasn't my favorite. A thinner fish so not at all tasty. Hubby said his halibut was just okay and I agreed with him. The entrees were followed by a supposed "dome of chocolate " but it was a small round cake that also lacked flavor. Hubby's cheesecake was served in a pre made tarte shell and the cheesecake tasted weird. A fancy environment without the fancy food. Extremely overpriced for what we were served. I'm not sure about you but after a long day of shopping hunger kicks in. I didn't have a reservation so I was seated at the bar. Since it was still happy hour I ordered the fish and chips. It arrived hot and ready to be in my belly. The portion size was larger than I expected and it was so delicious. I choose a cobbler( apple) with vanilla ice cream. I loved the presentation of mini cast iron pan. There is plenty of parking and the service was excellent! While in the Williamsburg area, we happened to be celebrating our anniversary. We were looking for a nice restaurant for the occasion and decided to go here. It was a good choice. The ambiance was perfect for a couples night and the food was delicious. I had the salmon with rice and braised greens. My husband had the lamb and cheese grits. We also tried the peach cobbler for dessert. Everything was really good. To top it all off, they gave us a Champagne toast for our anniversary. The service was great. First the service, our server was often times no where to be found but we also observed that it didn't seem as if she had an assigned section that was close to ours. ‍ However the food was amazing from start to finish. We loved both our wines. Our appetizer of crawfish crab cake was a special and was so good we forgot to take a picture! Overall, this restaurant is great. They have a variety of food options with good portion sizes. The seafood is very fresh as well. I got the crab cakes, scallops, and salmon. The crab cakes were good, but there wasn't anything special about them. The scallops were excellent and had flavorful sides that accompanied the dish. The salmon was not good. The topping on the salmon was sweet and gel-like. The snicker cheesecake was not traditional cheesecake. The cheesecake filling was centered in the middle of a hard bowl-like crust. However, the bread pudding was delicious! The service was great. The waitress was pretty attentive and very friendly. The restaurant had white table cloths but it wasn't too fancy. But manager came,took it and brought out totally new dish with perfect medium piece of salmon and deducted half of price from the bill for that salad.By the way,really generous salmon size for salad dish. I ordered scallops add on and scallops were phenomenal,maybe a little bit less caramelized on top than ideal,but still very tasty. The wife and I started with some drinks, old fashion for me and she had the winter/fall cosmo(?). Loved these and the drinks themselves were nice size portion. The basket of bread was very warm and the fancy butter was delish. We both had the fish tacos(mahi mahi) with a side salad. We added a side of saffron rice. Went for Easter brunch. Odd brunch set up. Plates for salads, fruit and shrimp were not provided, just large dinner plates, that waitstaff gave to you. (waitstaff provided each dinner plate.) No salt, pepper or butter on table. All hot items were cold and appeared to be out for some time and we were the first to be seated for this brunch! Very few gluten free items, and they were not marked either. Pastries looked store bought and no gluten free bread options. Chicken dried out, beef was tough. Offered one dessert at end of meal, and very small portion. We expected a much better experience, however, the ambiance was nice and we certainly were not rushed. I've heard spit reviews from friends but probably won't be back....maybe not the place to go for brunch! I'd say, at least try this place once and decide for yourself. read more

Girlfriend and I went there last night (23JUN25). I had the duck confit and she had the steak frites. I wouldn't recommend either. The duck was kinda greasy, and was basically just a noodl-ey duck casserole in a bowl. There was no attempt at presentation or anything like that: just a bowl of greasy stuff. The steak frites was three slices of steak and a mountain of garlic fries. Again: no attempt at presentation; it might as well have been Five Guys. The atmosphere here is very nice. The shrimp we ordered for an appetizer was very good. Our meal was good but even for an upscale restaurant we felt it was a little pricey for the portions given. When looking for a restaurant we knew this meal would hit the pocket so while that was ok for us, at least offer more vegetables, a side salad and/or soup (especially for the big eating men folk like me!). (Minus 1 star here) Our waiter, Brandon, was very friendly and attentive. We did share with the manager that as a couple out for a nice dinner date we would have preferred not to be seated in a room with a party of 10. He said he actually had noticed that and had already told the hostess to be more mindful not to do this in the future. We called the restaurant and the girl who answered had to ask someone and they said yes, we could continue to come that way. Waypoint used to be my wife and I's favorite restaurant between 2023-2024. It usually has a good atmosphere with friendly wait staff. We used to come nearly monthly before our son was born, so I have some reference to how the food has changed over the years. Ever since the ownership change, menu changes (they greatly trimmed the menu), etc., we have been becoming gradually more and more disappointed. For a restaurant that namely states 'Seafood,' their seafood options are surprisingly limited nowadays. Their special events (such as the 2024 Mother's Day dinner buffet) have been particularly bad. Tonight was honestly the final straw for both of us (12-06-2025), and I don't think we will be taking our business here anymore. We started off with an order of calamari, which was decently cooked, albeit slightly too much sauce. The bread that comes with the meal is rather good, we especially like the garlic herb butter that is served alongside it. The problems arose when we received our mains. To start with, my wife ordered the 'steakhouse salad,' she ordered the steak medium. The salad is supposed to come with grilled onions, parmesan cheese, balsamic vinegar, fingerling potatoes, and spinach. When the salad arrived, it had 3 measly half-cut, cold fingerling potatoes, a singular (and I am not exaggerating) sliver of parmesan cheese, pickled onions (not grilled), all served over a bed of arugula with not a spinach leaf in sight. To make matters worse, her steak was completely rare and smelled as if it had been put through either a propane torch or smoke machine. I personally like rare steak, so I tried it, and it was even distasteful to me. The steak was on the tougher side, lukewarm with an unpleasant aftertaste due to whatever process they did with it. Then came my dish. I ordered the pan seared scallops paired with a glass of Beatrice Pinot Grigio. I have had it previously under the original menu, and it was absolutely delicious. I noticed they made some changes to it, such as including a sweet potato risotto... for some reason. I decided to give it a try, even though I am personally not a fan of sweet potatoes, but I figured I'd just brush them off and enjoy the meal. A special note here, it simply stated that it had sweet potatoes. To my surprise, the risotto itself was made with some sort of sweet potato puree, and the flavor was so engrained into it, that it entirely threw off the rest of the dish. The scallops were quite good, buttery, sweet, and seared well, just as I liked them before; but the mixture of parmesan, pesto, and sweet potatoes was not complimentary at all. It felt like some attempt at making a pompous "high class" dish for the sake of culinary exploration. My wife wanted to try it, as she actually rather enjoys sweet potatoes, and seeing as she was still hungry from her rather disappointing salad, but she was disgusted at the texture and flavor profile. She likened it to jarred baby food. It was one of the most disappointing meals I have ever had at a restaurant and looking back at some recent reviews of people who have ordered this, it seems like it was a recent change to include the puree, hopefully not one that sticks around. We decided we should at least give dessert a try, so we ordered the crème brûlée. Pretty hard to mess that up. When it arrived, it was plated nicely, however when we looked at the crème brûlée itself, we were surprised at well... just how little there was. With a tiny dessert spoon submerged straight down, it didn't even cover halfway. It tasted good, but the quantity overall makes it not worth the price. The accompanied espresso and cappuccino we ordered were good though. The one saving grace of this meal was honestly our waitress, Olena. She was extremely polite and friendly, very attentive and had that great mix of timeliness yet knowing not to hover. Honestly if we had any other server than her, we would have complained about the meal, if not just straight walked out. Within the realm of more upscale restaurants in the area, for $160 after tip, there are far better options in Williamsburg to choose from at this point, we should have just gone to Le Yaca. read more

Came here for a party was not my choice and wouldn't recommend. We had one server for 24 people. It took 30 minutes to even get a drink outside of water. Not her fault but take note. The other thing I noticed is that there is no hot water in the restrooms. What does that mean for the people cooking, serving and plaiting the food. What does that mean for us the consumer. Pretty sure it's a health code violation but it certainly hasn't been picked up by the State yet. I will give them a notice next week. read more

He told us he had a demanding table - uh place was nearly empty they close at 9 PM. We finally got iced water and bread & fancy knives for our butter as he said - finally brought to us. My favorite brunch place was closed so on a whim we decided to try Waypoint, there was no wait, we were the only patrons. I loved the Bloody Mary & charcuterie board! Fun way to start our meal. Our food was good, reasonably priced and the grits were wonderful! Definitely planning on going again soon. Service was very prompt, the restaurant nice and quiet. I was part of a group of women who attended a luncheon at Waypoint today. I don't know where to start in terms of talking about the wonderful experience we had. Although it was a private party, the restaurant went out of its way to treat us like they would any other customers. We had a variety of amazing hors d'oeuvres, followed by a salad with a deliciously refreshing citrus dressing. We also had soup-mine was a house-made sweet potato soup-it was delightful. Our entrées were cooked exactly to order. I chose surf and turf and both were amazing. They were served with mashed potatoes and asparagus on the side. The dessert included a mixed berry cobbler and a chocolate cup with a creamy filling. The ambience of the restaurant was lovely; it was tastefully decorated for the holidays without being overdone. I was especially impressed with the service. The staff was very attentive, but not overbearing. I never had to ask for my water to be refilled and they were very accommodating in getting me a to-go box when I had to leave before the end of the event. Whether you are looking for a restaurant for a private event or just want a delicious meal, I would highly recommend Waypoint! You will not be disappointed. read more
