We tried this place and were very happy with the margaritas while we waited for our to go order. I would have given a strong 4 stars but, once we got to the hotel the order was incorrect even though we talked to the person directly in person the information must not have been passed along to the chefs. It was a simple request, combo plate all rice and no beans, or decorations. That wasn't followed so I knocked off a star for that. Still would maybe eat there again and have the margaritas but would ensure the order was correct prior to leaving. read more

One of my best friends took me here for a birthday lunch I ordered the margarita on the rocks with patron- and they did NOT Skimp out on the tequila, well worth the money. I ordered the chile relleno and the chicken enchilada combo plate. They do have the option for black beans for those seaking a low-fat option. Picked up our order since its still Covid-19 time. Open for outdoor eating, and it was packed. Ordered shredded beef/pork taco, chicken enchilada, and steak burrito. Taco was amazing and that, beans and rice were all good quality. Fresh lettuce in taco and included salad. Chicken enchilada was a little skimpy on the chicken but still tasted good. Carlitos is definitely a great place to grab some authentic Mexican food. Its located in a plaza mixed in with other stores. There is a huge parking lot, and its hard to miss the huge orange sign. As soon as we got seated, a basket of complimentary chips and salsa was brought to our table. The chips tasted very fresh and crispy. The salsa was a bit spicy for me. While I was looking at the menu, I was surprised at the huge variety to choose from (salads, combo plates, fajitas, burritos, etc). We decided to order the Grande Combo (enchilada, burrito, and chimichanga) with rice and beans. The chicken enchilada tasted ok to me. I wish there was more sauce on top. The burrito was filled with shredded beef and pork, and it was very good. The chimichanga was filled with shredded beef and pork along with some refried beans. Overall, Carlitos has great Mexican food and the service was great. I'd definitely recommend this place to other customers. read more

We met friends here last night for dinner and I must say Carlito's is losing its touch. I ordered a Dirty Martini, and it was the worst Dirty Martini I have ever had. They brought it to me in a Manhattan glass with 4 green olives that were pushed over a straw, I had to snag them with my spoon. I ordered a Chicken tamale and a shredded beef taco, and I never received the tamale, my girlfriend ordered a ground beef taco with lettuce and tomato and a side of sour cream she had to ask 2 times for the sour cream, and she said she didn't receive a ground beef taco she wasn't sure what the meat was. I have never been so disappointed in Carlito's as last night. I hadn't been in a while as I was given some information on them, so I strayed from them. They may have cleaned up their act, but their fool was bad, and the drinks even worse. In fact when the table next to us received their orders the cast iron skillet was so hot the smoke from the skillets filled the room with so much smoke, I was surprised the smoke alarms didn't go off and one of them was brought out on first. Please Carlito's re-group and pull it together. I will be back but not any time soon. Sorry for the bad review but if I don't tell you about this you won't be able to learn from the errors and better yourself. Until we meet again, Adios for now. read more

This restaurant is unassuming from the outside but once you are in you are transported to a new world full of colors and patterns with nice music playing in the background. This was our first and last time eating at this establishment. The entire staff was the most unfriendly, unwelcoming, least attentive group I have EVER seen. We tried out this place based on reviews, driving down from Redding to get some decent mexican food. The margarita's didn't dissapoint. The hubbs had a Top Shelf, which consisted of an extra shot of tequila, and I had a Cadilac. Both were large and plenty strong. Thumbs up! I had the spinach enchilada's that came with whole beans and rice on the side- your usual faire, but it was flavorful and I should order it again. I imagine my partner and I did the same thing a lot of folks do. We were headed to Lassen National Park via one night in Red Bluffs and stayed at one of the motels. Dinner had to be at the best restaurant in town and Yelp led us to Carlitos Mexican Restaurant. Great place! Our bellies were full. Our hearts were happy and we were ready for a wonderful weekend outdoors! I ordered the carne asada plate with scallions. The steak was absolutely delicious. Seasoned so well - thin slices cooked perfectly. My partner got the tacos which he liked, but we've had way better. It was a satisfying meal nonetheless. They bring out chips and delicious salsa right away. The menu can be a bit overwhelming. There are SO many things to choose from. The service was perfect. They filled our waters and came at the right times to check on us. Awesome food. Such a fun colorful Mexican atmosphere. Keep doing you, Carlitos! I'd recommend this restaurant any day. They actually have sugar free margaritas! You can indulge without feeling totally guilty. Haha. For the area and it being in the middle of nowhere. The menu is huge and has a lot of options, and asking the wait staff to leave items out of your meal is a painless experience. The restaurant is very accommodating.
