This is the second time that I have been here and once again, this place put me in a food coma. The skirt steak was surprisingly tender and not dry as expected the enchiladas from the chicken to the minced beef was flavorful and moist. The burritos were tasty and huge! I usually don't like retried beans, but they have made me a new fan of theirs. The best part for me though, was the gracious, attentive, true examples of service with a smile!! Free, endless tortilla chips! Great salsa! What more could one ask for? I've been to some of the worlds greatest taquerias (by my standards at least) and this is mostly on par with them. The food itself is slightly bland for Mexican food and the place could use a variety of salsas. That being said, the one salsa they have is perfect. The food is pretty cheap too for a sit down restaurant. Overall I definitely recommend this place if you are driving through town and craving a nice big plate of Mexican food so you can gas your car up later for your road-trip buddies. read more

The food was excellent, I like to eat here a lot and get their takeout a lot. Going has always been great except the last time I went in to eat. I was particularly hungry that day and ordered a bit more than I usually do, and my waitress was very rude about it. All of us in our party will probably not be eating here again. Mercedes took our order over the phone today 4/18/21 at 12:47 pm and she told us that the food would be ready in 20 minutes. We arrived in 20 minutes to pick up our food like Mercedes has said, and we ended up waiting more than 45 minutes. When I asked about the wait time and why other orders which were after ours were being served, I was told they were very busy. I understand they were busy but didn't understand why other people who were behind us were being served. I asked to speak to a manager and he told me "oh well and that they do the best they can." I understand their doing the best they can, but the attitude of the staff is what turned us off. When our order finally came out, then our plates didnt come as we ordered. Another Mexican food place that I took our Chamber CEO Dave Gowan to. we stood for all of maybe 5 seconds before someone greeted us (AWESOME!) and a waiter was at our table about ten seconds after we sat down. Dave ordered some kind of pollo con crema (for my non spanish speaking friends, Chicken with cream sauce) Dave seemed to like his really well. I had their Chicken Mole. It was good. not the best I've ever had, but still pretty darn good none the less. I would have wanted a little more sour cream, pico de gallo, and cabbage, but the mole sauce was really the best part of the dish. sweet and spicy all in the same bite. The chips and salsa were pretty good. I would have preferred it to be a little chunkier, but the taste was still really good. The atmosphere was pleasant, the service was quick, the food was good. If you are out by the fairgrounds or in the Antelope Blvd area, this is one of the two best choices for food. Carlitos is tied with Pronto Market in this one. read more

In Feb we went to Carlitos we were seated fast and got drinks. Chips and salsa came fast. They took our order. I got the flauta. They were beef and pork. They came with crema and tomato. They were crispy and tasted really good, BUT I know flauts as a taquito made from flour tortillas insead of corn. These were more like mini chimichangas.They beans were really yummy. The rice is okay. I over ate that night sorry to say but they were just too yummy. You get four in an order for around $10. My boyfriend got the two combo plate. He got a chicken burrito and a beef enchaleda. He ate all of his food without sharing so I can say he really loved his dinner. Their chips are the thin crispy which I love and they have really good salsa. Which they are both made in house. The night we were there they were having a birthday party. It was nice. My boyfriend's favorite waiter had been promoted to manager so we had a different waitress. She was really good about keeping up with the drinks. read more

Wow, ordinarily our very favorite restaurant in Red Bluff, with perhaps over 100 meals enjoyed there since 2008, dinner experience with out of town visitors on 10/4/18 was ... embarrassing, especially as we had crowed about the great food and service. Seating for 6 was quick, drink orders prompt, but bar service delivery was in stages by a confused staff. We recognized the manager, but none of the servers. One of the margaritas was unrecognizable as such. The meals were awful. Soggy lettuce and lukewarm meat on a couple of steak salads, a below par soup and even the combo plates had runny beans and substandard rice. The cause might have been a mostly new kitchen and wait staff, not sure. What might have caused a wholesale turnover? I don't want to conjecture. I really hope they get their act back together soon, as we will not be seated for dinner there again until we have a discussion with the manager to our satisfaction. Too many Mexican dinner choices in town anymore to stay with a fave that has lost its food and service quality. read more

We'd intended to eat dinner on September 12 at a restaurant we'd read about in the AAA guide, but we arrived in Red Bluff after its (early evening) closure. We then looked for alternatives on Yelp and discovered we were right across the street from the shopping center where Carlitos is located, and the high ratings dictated our decision to eat there. It was very fortuitous, as we *loved* Carlitos! The food was *delicious* (we each ordered the seafood enchiladas [$10.90/each]). We were first given a generous bowl of (warm/homemade) chips and we devoured them, so our server kindly brought us another bowl of chips. He was very pleasant and attentive, too. read more

Carlitos on Antelope Blvd is one of the best Mexican spots in NorCal - true NorCal, that is. I usually stick with the classics and I highly recommend the Chile Relleno. The portion sizes are huge so if you aren't hungry, go halfsies on the entrees. The margaritas come in bowls so one to three should do the trick ;) The service is hit or miss but it's worth coming here every time you get this far up I-5! Enjoy! read more
