Tried this restaurant when my company ordered food for our meeting. This is a Tex-Mex Kosher restaurant. Tried their egg rolls, highly recommend. Absolutely amazing, crunchy on the outside with delicious flavored meat inside, there are six different variations available. I also tried their spicy jalapeno burger. Love the charcoal grilled burger patty with pastrami, lettuce and slices of jalapeños. Ordering is quick, takes like 15-20 minutes wait time. I highly Recommend this spot! read more

Pretty good spot. We had burgers and burritos. Everyone enjoyed their meal. They had given us a regular burger instead of the chicken burger that we had ordered. They replaced it. The manager and the guy at the register didn't really know the menu but they were friendly. I saw some other customers order more elaborate meals so I would like to go back and try more menu items. read more

I went to the Carlos & Gabby's in Riverdale to purchase items for a family member. I waited for 35 minutes after placing my order only to find out it had not been placed. After that I cancelled my order and left. The toilet was not working. In spite of telling them the toilet was out of order, they did nothing and several customers used it without the ability to flush. I certainly will not return again. read more

Stopped in while running errands. While looking at the menu I asked the cashier if they made quesadillas, and a man (that I believe was the owner) jumped in from across the room and told me no, they don't make quesadillas because this place is kosher. As a (non-practicing) Jewish person myself, I am aware of how kosher works (no meat and cheese together), but I was tired and didn't piece together that a kosher place wouldn't even have cheese in the building (I had assumed I could've ordered a meatless quesadilla). Would've been fine if he was just like "oh we're kosher and don't have cheese in the kitchen because we can't cross-contaminate with meat", but he chose to be snarky and condescending about it, not even explaining that, just giving me an angry look like I was an idiot and saying something like "no of course we don't have quesadillas, we're KOSHER, we don't have cheese here" before walking away. I got popcorn chicken (not very Mexican but I was kindof thrown off by the rudeness and didn't really know what to get) and got a burrito for my girlfriend. Fries were a bit soggy, soft, and unsalted, chicken was tough. Girlfriend found the burrito a little flavorless. If this was $10 I would've been fine, but the chicken was $20 and the burrito was ~$18. If the owner wasn't rude to me I might've gone back to try something else at some point, but now I am unlikely to bother. Cashiers, you were nice, maybe find a place where they treat people better. This place had really great burritos a step above chipotle. I had about an hour wait to view a property that I was going to purchase in the area and stopped by to grab a quick meal and was pleasantly surprised. The neighborhood over Ludlow being a predominantly Spanish area made me crave mexican,but once I got inside I find out that interestingly it was a Jewish owned Mexican chain. I grew up with real Mexican food. You won't get that here, but that's to be expected within the confines of glatt. So, the food is what it is, high carb, high starch, high sugar. If you're 14, you'll love it, and your parents will pay the (high) price. The service is not expected. The owner believes in running the place, apparently, as though regular floggings will improve morale. Is it authentic Mexican? Nope. Is it still delicious? Absolutely. I had a $15 UberEats credit and the BF & I had been meaning to give this place a try after we saw it when across the street at the comic book shop. A coworker of mine had also given it her stamp of approval too, so we ordered. Wow...we got the Monte Carlos sandwich and the Brisket Nachos...that was enough to feed the both of us for 2 days. You wouldn't think nachos would be that great when they're not slathered in cheese but rather cheezy sauce...but alas...OM NOM NOM. Used this for catering for a LARGE party. Nothing fancy but Ralph went above and beyond and was flexible and kind. When it comes to a b'nei mitzvah, honestly this food is what people seem to enjoy... My friend & I sat into the place tonight. Eventually after some time one of the workers at the front yells down asking if we're ordering. We said "yea" as he was saying "you can't sit here if you're not gonna eat" So I explained that we just didn't know it was a cafeteria setting. We finally get the food & sit down to eat. They're cleaning up in the back it's clear w the music and the talking but that's fine they're closing, right? WRONG Same worker begins sweeping. While he's moving booths around and sweeping the girl behind the counter says "You're gonna clean now? You're not gonna wait until they're done eating?" He says "No I'm trying to get out of here" Then I ask him if he could clean the other half of the store before cleaning our side, because we're eating. I'm not sure what he thought was appetizing about eating floor lint because he SAID "you'll be fine." Then after cleaning the other half of the store he comes moving booths to sweep behind us. This time with another customer in the place I asked him to please wait until after we're done eating and the guy actually stopped. Now. All this, and the store doesn't even close for another half hour. It WAS/IS a Tuesday at 8pm. Anyway aside from the horrible experience the food is mediocre. I was in the Bronx and was Looking for a kosher place to have lunch. I've have Carlos and Gabby's in Queens and so I thought it would be a safe bet. Let me tell you, this location far exceeded my expectations. The food was delicious and tasted so fresh. The staff was professional. The food was ready in good time. We ordered from the lunch special and I was expecting everything to be undersized but the portions were pretty great. The queens location has a lot to learn from the Bronx one. I got a bbq chicken wrap crispy, hubby got a cedahurst, and my Brother had a chicken burrito. We were shocked at how delicious every thing was. I'm a downtown girl but my boyfriend lives in Riverdale and there aren't many options for food, especially Mexican, so we gave it a try. I gotta say... it's weird. Neither of us are Kosher, and as a general thought per my experience, Kosher food isn't terribly tasty - so that was my first fear. The upside was, I'm slightly lactose intolerant, so I didn't have to worry about anything being slathered in lots of cheese. (Although cheese, is one of those things that you kinda need in Mexican food.) Burritos lack something, i.e. pizazz, taste, whatever you want to call it. The chicken tenders are pretty tasty - again... they're weird. Cornflake encrusted and deep-fried BUT I thought those were actually pretty tasty. I will say, they have to stop w/ the one-by-one item presentation. The kitchen's gotta get it together, no one wants to eat piecemeal like that, whether you're alone or not. The dipping sauces are pretty good, I'll give them that. So TexMex, no. Mex, no. But cool kinda weirdly different but tasty chicken fingers, yes. OH and guys, you gotta lower those prices. I was really excited when this place opened, because I am from the West and love Mexican food (not Tex mex if I can help it), and there is not much of that around here. I also avoid pork (pigs are gross!) so the kosher aspect was appealing. We went to Carlos and Gabby's in June and first I was disappointed in the fast food nature vs sit down restaurant. Oh well. There were about 6 teenagers working behing the counter, most just standing around. I saw several hispanic guys in the kitchen (thought that was a good sign). The girls taking our order were clueless and didn't seem that familiar with the menu items. We placed a large order (4 of us in party) and sat down. 15 minutes later our food began being delivered to us.... one item at a time. It took about 7 minutes for everything to come out, so we really didn't get to eat together. The food was edible but not quite good... and definitely barely qualifies as Mexican. Best part was, despite me pointing to each item on the menu while placing my order, the girl got mine wrong and brought out a beef sandwich vs the beef burrito I had ordered (forget the fact that sandwiches aren't even a Mexican item and are a substantial part of their menu!). I took it back to the front and they remade my order... add close to 10 minutes, so I really was eating alone by this time! The girl had charged me for the higher priced wrong item so she came out to the table with a refund for the difference (after the experience we had, she really should have comped my item all together). Oh yeah, they are closed Saturdays (being Jewish owned) and also some Friday nights (I think around Jewish holidays). Suffice it to say, I won't be going back. I seriously like Taco Bell much more! To be honest, I don't really know what the previous poster means about "cafeteria style," because it isn't like a "get your own food out of a vat of food" kind of thing. You go up to a counter, you order, you sit, they bring your food to you. How is THAT cafeteria style? Anyhow, I thought the food here was excellent, and the service was really great. The girls at the counter were welcoming, informative, and willing to make sure that certain things were sans gluten for me (thanks gals!). I ordered some serious nachos with chicken and the husband picked up two Habibi tacos and one Adobo taco, with some spicy fries. Over alll, we were both exceedingly happy with our food. The nachos were loaded with veggies, sauces, and a ton of guacamole, which I had to scrape off because I'm not huge on guac. My only beef with the nachos was the chicken, which, to be honest, added nothing to the nachos. They looked sort of like cubed, frozen, bagged chicken bits, and I would say that next time I'm not going to get any meat on my nachos. Note: Try the buffalo sauce, it's outstanding. Customer Service: I ordered a large order of food for myself and my kosher co-workers and it arrived 2.5 hours later. With that being said my money was refunded and I was given a $50 gift card. Because of this I will always be a customer of Carlos & Gabby's as I am a HUGE fan of accountability & great customer service. Food: The food was great...The flavors were light and fresh and that's all I ask for. Im not a big fan a salt, sugar and any other unnecessary additives. I had to stay late at work the other night and my company only allows kosher food. This place was fast and brought exactly what I ordered. I got the asada burrito and although the steak could have been thicker and didn't taste authentic it wasn't bad and the overall taste of the rest of the burrito made up for it. I'm happy I found this place and it looks like that have a great lunch special so I will be trying them again! read more

New owner is TERRIBLE! Doesn't care about his customers or employees. I witnessed him yell at multiply employees right in front of customers. No lack of respect! Ordered lunch yesterday. While waiting for my food the two young ladies who ran the place were standing with the front door open. I politely asked them to not keep the door open as it was brutally hot outside and the air conditioning wasn't keeping the place cool. The young lady who claimed to be the manager said "if you don't like it you can leave". They would not refund my money. And they wouldn't give me their names. On the plus side, this kosher restaurant is dairy free and nut free so there are a number of meal options for my food allergic son. Workers are knowledgeable about it ingredients, etc. For myself I ordered the brisket burrito and sadly I was pretty disappointed. At $15 it really should get the job done. Amazing!!! It's inexpensive (most entrées except for the burgers were 8.95 or 10.95). They have AMAZING food and AMAZING sauces. For avocado lovers, I suggest the avocado ranch sauce, and for spicy food lovers, I suggest the sweet chilli sauce. For spicy food lovers, I suggest the Buffalo Finger/Zinger Wrap, ask for spicy style. Put sweet chilli sauce in it. If you ask, they'll make it as a sub. It's at the end of the menu. If you have four or more people, get a nacho grande or something in that category on the menu. It is, however, a little crowded. read more

When I went to pick up my order which was almost $100, I opened one of the meals to find that they had given me the wrong item. When I went back in and showed them, they proceeded to argue with me saying that it was right and I don't know what I ordered, until the manager came and explained that they sent me the wrong item because they didn't have what I ordered, so they sent me a completely separate dish which I did not order. I then left after they told me they would refund me for that item. When I arrived home, I found that they had left another item COMPLETELY out of the order, yet still charged me for it. Not only did they substitute an item I ordered for something else, but they didn't send me something else I ordered. Meanwhile, I still have not received any refund from them. I hate writing bad reviews, but there is always an issue with takeout orders. Today we ordered two lunch specials, both meals include fries, but after I got home with the food I realized the fries were not put in the bag. I called the restaurant 3 times to get through to a manager ( I was put on hold twice for longer than I should have been). The manager apologized for the mistake and told me he would credit two orders of fries to our account. However, he hung up before taking my name. I called back to leave my name, and asked the worker who answered how I was supposed to receive a credit if the manager did not take my name to which she replied, I don't know. High hopes for Kosher Mexican were squashed. Tasteless carne asada & greasy, might I add, disgusting chips served with guacamole & nachos. To elaborate, the carne asada was slathered with a layer of a mayo-like condiment. Since when does a Kosher meat restaurant serve meat with dairy?????? HUM?? Anyway, the carne asada made me vomit. A V-I-L-E hot sauce is served on a pathetic looking condiments counter next to the door. Certainly has a fast-food vibe including the lack of cleanliness: oil stains on the table tops & crud/food on the dining room floor. I had to wipe down the tables myself with napkins. I've never had a more unsettling, disgusting, vomit-inducing meal in my life. I have tried this place 3 different times and consistently it took OVER 25 MINUTES to get my food, even though the place was virtually empty (clearly for good reason). This is sort of a kosher version of Taco Bell. I went only once, expecting something a little more in the direction of a regular restaurant. I am not a fan of fast food restaurants except when nothing else is around. Terrible experience tonight. Horrible customer service. The AC was broken and the place had no air circulating. When we asked the owner to leave the door open he refused and didn't even apologize for the situation."I suffer, too" he said.
