We went to Miznon 3 times (2x at this location, once in the Chelsea Market) during our trip and it was, without a doubt, the best food we had in New York. I got the mushroom pita and the whole roasted baby cauliflower, and both were insane. Mushroom Pita: Fresh, fluffy pita bread, with roasted mushrooms in an umami-rich tahini sauce. This was mouthwateringly good, and the mushrooms also had a great, fresh texture. Baby Cauliflower: It sounds so simple but the magic is in the execution. The cauliflower is both soft and firm at the same time; it almost melts in your mouth. There's a reason that two times we went to Miznon, they had already run out. Friendly service, and a chill ambiance. They have fresh tomatoes and long green peppers as a living decor, and they will give you a cooked pepper if you like. My coworker introduced Miznon to me and now I can see why she loves it! As a chain, this location offers Kosher fast-casual Mediterranean food. I got the broken chicken pita which was very well-seasoned. Some larger pieces of chicken were on the drier side for me, but I loved the flavor especially when mixed with the tahini and za'atar. The pita is super fluffy and chewy, perfect to hold up other ingredients and soak up the sauces. The green onions added a crunch factor against the chicken and chewy pita. My friend's intimate stew with beef was tender with a fragrant, thick sauce. I really wanted the mushroom pita (after seeing another Yelper post about it), but unfortunately was not on the menu when I went. The space isn't too big with some tables along the side and two rows of counter space for dine-in folks. There are a lot of free tables outside which is another great option when the weather is nice. Great space and nice staff, but the sandwich took quite. while. We ordered two sandwiches, two bottles of water and hummus and the bill came to $70. It's pricey for a fast casual place. The sandwiches also took quite a while, and they gave us our sandwiches and forgot about or delayed our hummus until w were done so we couldn't enjoy it together. Additionally, the cauliflower sandwich I wanted "wasn't available." With so few vegan options, it was frustrating that they didn't have a replacement that wasn't a fried falafel. A good restaurant would have crossed it off their menu or have a sign so you don't have to wait in line to order, only to find out then its not a available. I got the egg sandwich instead. it's nice that they give you some free bread and tahini while you wait, but while it is a nicely constructed sandwich, the high price and long wait time may not necessarily have me rushing back for a quick work lunch. read more

In a world where Omar's offers pita sandwiches for $10, a $21 starting point for pita sandwiches that appear scrawnier is outlandish. I ordered two, because that's my cardinal rule of trying new restaurants, and it cost $45. The prep time was slow, there were mistakes on the menu, and some guy walked around speaking to customers in a light whisper, no matter how many times people said "WHAT???" The saving grace here is that all of the ingredients, from the fresh, warm pitas to the vegetables were *clearly* elevated when compared with, say, a Halal cart, or, to an extent, Omar's. The real specialty here is the slow/"intimate" beef pita. I can definitely call it the best pita sandwich I've ever had. As to the replay value of this kosher restaurant, it's really, really hard to see these outrageous prices fitting into my lunch rotation. read more

It's been a while since I've written a review, but I felt compelled to share my experience in hopes that this establishment can make improvements after reading this. Having visited multiple Miznon locations and dined at Chef Eyal Shani's other restaurants throughout NYC, I was hopeful when I found this location, especially given its proximity as a Kosher option. Unfortunately, from the moment I walked in, I started to regret my choice. The menu prices are steep, with a pita priced at $21+, which is considerably higher than most other Kosher shawarma spots, where prices are typically in the teens. The staff behind the counter was dismissive and unable to explain the menu effectively. I was told that platters and pitas are the same portion size, with the only difference being the presentation: one in a pita and the other served on a plate with the pita on the side. However, this explanation didn't justify the 30% price hike for the same portion. I opted for the Imitate Plate (a meat stew) and a bag of meat, which totaled $61. While waiting at the counter with my company, I noticed several concerning hygiene practices. None of the staff wore hair nets or beard coverings, and the cook was handling food with unwashed, bare hands. He was also seasoning the meat on the grill while walking around the kitchen and touching various items without gloves. To make matters worse, I heard one of the employees yell "Yerrrrrr" from the back as he walked out, which startled other diners, including a couple on a date who visibly jumped. As a Kosher and somewhat expensive establishment, I expected a higher standard of cleanliness and professionalism. It was clear that health codes were being violated in multiple areas. After about 20 minutes, our food finally arrived--poorly plated, with a stew-like dish consisting of a couple of pieces of meat and some chopped parsnips floating around in the broth. It was nothing like I expected. In addition, an insulated delivery bag contained overcooked, burnt shredded meat and onions. When I say burnt, I mean truly charred. I was deeply embarrassed that I had chosen this place, and the quality of the food did not meet any expectations. Given the combination of subpar food quality, poor hygiene practices, and the staff's careless behavior, we chose to leave the meal half-eaten and find somewhere else to dine. This restaurant, unfortunately, feels like a poor reflection of what it could be, and it is in desperate need of attention from upper management before it potentially closes its doors for good. The staff seemed to treat the restaurant as more of a hangout spot than a professional dining environment, speaking loudly while patrons were trying to enjoy their meals. I truly hope this review serves as a wake-up call for the owners to address the issues here and improve the experience for paying customers. read more

The new Times Square location is just as good as their other locations and the 5 minute steak pita is the JAM! This location also offered a chicken schnitzel pita when they first opened. One thing to note is that their website and Google says that they close at 9 but it's actually 8pm. Get that pita craving in before they close! I also love their cauliflower too! I am so beyond disappointed with this place. First time we went, we were there 10 minutes before closing and had to beg them to feed us. They insisted they will be closing at exactly 9 and made us rush. In the end we stuffed our faces quickly and left before the rest of the customers there which all stayed well after 9:30. Second time, we checked google to make sure the correct time and arrived at 8:15, 45 minutes before closing time. Right away the person at the front told us they're closed and they close at 8. We showed them how google says they're still open, and he just shrugged his shoulders at us and said "yea google is messed up". They should have honored the 9pm and served us, instead he completely shut us down. That is poor customer service and very disappointing. At that point I didn't want to beg him again so we left. After this last experience, we will not be returning. Such a shame because their food is incredible, and that is why it's 2 stars instead of 0. Work on your customer service and honoring the times posted. We came all the way from Jersey just for this. Never again. read more

Was near Chelsea market and in mood for Mediterranean food to take out. The person taking orders was extremely helpful. This being my first time there, he asked a few questions and then suggested I get the lamb plate and the cauliflower to share. It was perfect for two. And it was really delicious - especially the cauliflower. For my taste, much nicer to take-out than sit in the dark crowded areas of Chelsea market. The whole experience was horrible. I love the other Miznon but this one I will never come back to. After waiting 30 minutes for our food, one of the sandwiches was given to another customer. When told, the employee at the counter asked the individual who already touched the sandwich to give it to my husband. My husband shared we had to leave for a show and he just wanted a refund because we couldn't wait, which they initially told us was no issue. Went in on a Sunday, music was loud, minimal seating available, nobody in the place and were not allowed to pull tables together for 2 adults and 4 children even though there were no other people eating in the restaurant. Menu was limited for kids food, I figured a burger and fish and Chips were safe orders (no description on the fish and chips). Orders came out, no silverware, fish and chips was a baked fillet in pita bread with pickle chips in the sandwich. My 4 year old was melting down, wouldn't eat either option (and she wasn't allowed to sit with her cousins) I was able to calm her down by giving her a small bag of peanuts while I tried to eat the burger (over-handled meat with lots of spices) I was then asked to take the peanuts away from my child as they don't want outside food in the place, "It's an image thing." My husband and I ate here after seeing a broadway show the other day. The staff were super friendly and engaging. They seemed enthusiastic about the food and their jobs. I was thrilled the restaurant is kosher. We both had the steak in pita sandwiches. The food was really yummy! Also appreciated the tray with some dips and extra pieces of pita + tea. We will definitely come back again next time we are in the city! Only negative- no bathroom on premises for guests to use.
