This was top two of my favorite things we did on vacation! So fun and such a great experience all around! We LOVED it! We went all through Carlsbad and up the South Coast a ways, then turned around and went up coast hwy to Oceanside and did the boardwalk there. We peddled when we wanted and used power when we wanted. Had to create a Yelp account just to review the experience I had today because I am just that upset. My boyfriend and I woke up this morning (staying at a hotel in Carlsbad by the beach) & decided we wanted to ride electric bikes for the first time. So I called around noon to see if they were only taking walk ins since I could not reserve online. (Pictured in attachments). When I called a gentlemen answered, very calmly told me that the website was not updated and that if I wanted to book for the weekend time I would have to put a card or deposit on file. He said there was a 2 hour minimum and that they close at 6pm. I said ok I was actually wanting to come in today from 4-6pm and if I should reserve 2 bikes over the phone, he said no.. no need to. So I proceeded to ask him if he was sure and thinks there will be enough bikes if I came in later without a reservation. He said yes, there will be plenty. I said thank you I will see you guys later & hung up the phone. Here is where it gets upsetting. I actually end up arriving right before 3pm. There is a couple of Caucasian women already at the far end counter. And a caucasian women and her son in front of us wanting to purchase some tubes for her bike. As I walk up he asks what we were there for I said to rent two bikes. Mind you it's only 2:50 he says "I'm not doing anymore rentals for the day because it's just me and I can't handle anymore rentals for today." I said okay I understand but I called way earlier and spoke to someone and he told me that I didn't need a reservation that I would be good coming in to rent two bikes. He rubs his head in frustration and says okay please wait. He then proceeded to help all the other customers in the store and never came back. As we waited for 20 minutes in the entrance of the store, in those 20 minutes we were never acknowledged again so we decided to just leave. Our day was planned around riding bikes today and to be treated as if were were not seen in that store was very disappointing. My boyfriend and I are of color and I'm not sure if that played a part in why we were treated this way but there was a woman who had just rented a bike and she had rode past us 3 times in this time we were waiting and even made a remark as to ,"wow you guys are still waiting." Just wanted to share my experience here, I really hope that this woman was really just that busy because towards the end of of us waiting for the last 5 minutes we were the only people there besides the man behind the counter the young gentlemen who was assisting him with answering the telephone and the last woman he was helping. read more

Ron and Nathan provided great service. So, we started our trip with a thorough explanation of what to expect. Initially my wife's bike wasn't working properly. Since it was our first time, we weren't sure we were doing it right. We ended up going to to check out what happened. No questions asked, they just put us on a new bike. With today a holiday and school being out, what a better way to celebrate an impromptu Monday Funday then by renting bikes and riding up and down the coast. Unfortunately, as I called around and inquired regarding who might have bikes to fit myself, our 10 year old and a trailer to safely house our 2 year old, the choices became scarily slim. Fortunately, we stumbled upon Pedego and they more than lived up to their amazing reviews. From giving my son a free watch upon our Yelp checkin, to giving him choices of helmets and bikes, to not charging us for extra time after my son had a little snafu and fell of his bike and hurt his wrist. Great customer service all the employees are very friendly! Whenever I get my bike worked on I enjoyed walking around and looking at all the cool stuff they have in their shop. This place was the best bike shop ever but the new guy that works on the bikes is completely rude and unprofessional. This shop built my pedal e bike for me and I have had my bike serviced there many times. They always did a great job. Just last month I had a flat they fixed right away and then they told me to come back in a month for some new brakes. Well I called a month later to schedule the brake service and the new mechanic tells me they have never service my bike, their stand doesn't hold my bike, and is telling me I don't know what I am talking about. I told him about all my previous services at the shop and how I witnessed them put my bike on the stand to fix my flat tire and then he then proceeded to curse at me and continued to deny that my bike was worked on at the shop. He then he asked for my name and told me that he has all the power of who gets repairs or not and that he will make sure my bike is never serviced at his shop again. I asked for his name because I wanted the owner to know how I was being treated and he refused to give me his name. I asked if I could speak to John (the owner) and he refused to put me in contact with him. I couldn't believe how upset and inappropriate he was over nothing. Really bummed because I loved this shop. Hopefully the owner reads this because before this guy I never had a bad experience at this shop. read more

Diego, the lead Bike Tech at Pedego (Carlsbad, CA) assessed my front brake issue, determined what needed fixed and now I have like new brakes (he adjusted the back brake as well). Next, he discovered that the knocking sound (so annoying) was due to faulty pedals, which he replaced without charging for labor. Dustin and Nick are amazing! We have two babies and they helped us get everything all set up and ready to go. Anything you wanted or needed or had questions about they could answer it for you! The price is great too. So cheap. We had two adult bikes, a single kids trailer on one bike, and baby seat on the front of the other one. We rode for about an hour, maybe a little more.
