With the COVID-19 shutdown my husband and I decided to take our electric bikes out for a ride, and unfortunately discovered an issue with my bike. We called Pedego (fortunately they are still open, because they have a service center!) and they suggested that we bring the bike in. Diego was able to diagnose the issue quickly, and with his extensive experience, fixed it on the spot. We are so lucky to have Pedego and this excellent service center run by Diego in north county San Diego! I had the rear derailer stolen off my bike the day before I left on vacay to Carlsbad. Once here, I was able to find the part at a bike shop in Oceanside but they couldn't put it on as they were backed up on work orders for 3 weeks. After calling various bike shops in the area, none could get the part put on in less than a week. Since we are in Covid times a big part of this trip was going to be exploring different bike routes in the area with friends and family and I didn't want to have to rent a bike everyday. When I called Pedego not only did they say to bring it in and they could help, but they got the work done in less than 3 hours. The whole crew was professional, friendly, and considerate, wearing masks for customer safely. My bike works great and I was pleasantly surprised with the very affordable price I was charged. I would like to add one thing. I went to Petago in Solana Beach and explained my situation with what happened at the Carlsbad store. Keep in mind I did not even buy my bicycle there. The man at the shop tested my charger and battery and determined that the charger was the problem... He then handed me a brand new charger ( a newer model) and took my old one. Didn't charge me a thing or ask for any favors. Based on the generic response I received from the owner at the Carlsbad store (nearly a month or so after I posted my review) I can tell they really don't care very about the experience that we had. I suspect they make most of their money renting bicycles to tourists. read more

Diego was very nice and informative. I rented an electric bike for an hour and it was $17. It was also my first time riding an electric bike and Diego explained how to ride it clearly. I got pretty lazy when using the electric throttle feature but it was super fun just coasting along the ocean with the other cars while in the bike lane. Nice staff and service! read more

One word to describe the experience and customer service AMAZING! Andrew and Mason were excellent. They were patient and made sure that we had a memorable experience. They went over the bike instructions in great detail and gave us a basket and locks for our bikes. The icing on the cake was when we returned the bicycles they made sure to show you that they shredded your personal information ( the copy of your DL and credit card) needed when renting the bikes. I've been wanting an electric bike for quite some time but I wasn't sure which one I wanted. I was confused by all the different brands and price points. I met the owner one night at an event that was held at the store and started asking him some questions about the bikes. He was very friendly and knowledgeable and offered me a free test ride any time I wanted to try one out. He told me to take the bike out for as long as I wanted to make sure that I was in love with it. Well, six or so months went by and I finally stopped into the store to take him up on his offer. He immediately set me and my husband up on two bikes and told us to take them out for as long as we wanted. He gave us a quick tutorial and we were off. I've ridden many miles on a road bike in my day and I always felt like an electric bike was "cheating" a bit but it's so fun to go out on your bike for brunch and not arrive a sweaty mess. Needless to say we bought two bikes as soon as we got back from our test ride. He offered to take our two Electra Cruisers on trade in (sight unseen) and we were the proud owners of two new Pedegos. A few days later I decided I wanted to switch out my black tires, grips, and seat for brown and the owner told me to bring the bike in and he would take care of it. He said since I had only had the bike a few days he would swap everything for free. All the employees that I talked to were equally as friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend this place for rentals, service and bike purchases. I can't wait to ride my new bike! I saw a couple people come in for rentals while we were there and everyone was greeted very promptly and helped out. My husband and I live in AZ and we went to Carlsbad CA our favorite place for our week vacay. My husband loves to bike for long hours. We took his road bike with us and decided we would rent an electric bike for me once in Carlsbad. We rented the Bomerang at the Pedego biking store! It was so awesome!! I ended up following my husband 3 days in the row. It was fantastic! I was able to use the assist function going up hill and did still get great exercise. The battery was super powerful and long lasting. The battery barely went down after riding the bike for 3, 4 hours. The rental price was pretty decent and so worth it. We went from Carlsbad to Delmar and back with no issue. The staff at the store was extremely nice. They were kind and receptive to our needs. Dave was our guy and he was the bomb.com! Customer service I did my research before purchasing my electric bike and I felt that Pedego had the best quality construction and functionality. Although I did not purchase my bicycles at this location I was in the area and stopped in to have my bike looked at as there was a minor issue that needed some attention. My bicycle was still under warranty and this shop took my bike from me fixed it cleaned it and had it back in my hands within 20 minutes. Like the saying goes you get what you pay for. I have no regrets in my purchase of my pedego bicycles. The service I received alone makes me thankful for my purchase of this brand. A really fun experience! I wanted to get some outdoor activity in. I searched bike rentals and came across Pedego. I did this with my significant other and really enjoyed it. Immediately upon walking in we were greeted and was helped. The staff at Pedego explain the bikes clearly and answer any questions you have. We went with the electric cruiser for $35 for 3 hours (they have many other bike options - if you don't want an electric bike). Really fun! The electric cruiser gives you that little boost to travel longer distances without wearing yourself out. The bikes can go as fast as 20mph! It's almost like an electric scooter...but a bike! Feels much more stable since you can go in an out of pedaling manually vs using the motor. We wanted to get as much exercise in as possible so we manually pedaled for the most part, but towards the end we found ourselves using the motor for a boost :) We traveled from Carlsbad village all the way down to D Street Encinitas. One way took us 1 hour. The ride is amazing with the best views of the beach. It really is a one of a kind of experience and would totally do it again! *Only CON: I wish they had a bigger parking lot with no time restrictions though. We parked in their lot and it had a 3 hour time limit so it worked out fine for us, not sure where you could park if you wanted to rent the bikes out all day. read more

This was our first time using an electric bike. I had not really heard about electric bikes until I read a review in the LA Times this week. Wow our ride was terrific. In the past cycling into headwinds, up steep hills etc. was such a burden it made cycling an ordeal not fun. However with the E-bike these difficulties were immediately overcome. We enjoyed a lovely ride from Carlsbad to Encinitas and back in under 2 hours! Such fun. At the end of the ride, Andrew one of the staff gave us a "101" about the electric bikes. Renting was beyond a blast. Best high you can get! I'm not sure I would have even tried the bike without the option to rent. So of course I bought. Thanks, John! Below is my update in 8/2017: I've been in many times for tune up, repairs, purchase, just to say hi, and they treat me like a customer that they want to keep. Kind of like the 10% off bro deals you get in surf shops when you are a local and also recommend their place. I think this matters a great deal. I just "like" them but I am pretty stingy with my money so I don't like them so much I will pay extra. :) I count the businesses that are like this on one hand and this is one. read more

We purchased our bikes in this store just before COVID. Diego (Cristobal) was great to work with then, and has been fantastic with service ever since. We went in today for an adjustment because the chain was not staying the derailed of one of the bikes when shifting. He fixed that in minutes, AND diagnosed a bent derailed on the second bike and repaired it on the spot. Simply put: great service. Highly recommended! read more

Love this place! Dropped by on Super Bowl Sunday for a bike rental, and learned that they had electric bikes so me and my girlfriend each rented one. We had asked for a basket to place our little puppy so we can take him along the beach but John did even better, giving us a puppy trailer! He showed us how the bike works, made all the adjustments, made sure we're fully comfortable with the bikes before we started our journey, and greeted us when we returned. Had an amazing time at Carlsbad Village/Beach. First time riding electric bikes and gawd how awesome to not need to pedal! I love it! and you can go up to 20 miles per hour! Like whatttttt? Let's race! The bikes were a bit on the heavy side for me cause I'm a tiny 5' Asian girl , but it was no problem once you start riding it. The electric bikes themselves were super easy to use. Just pull the throttle a bit and it goes. Make sure you do a few practice runs in their parking lot before heading out to the street so you don't jerk too much and eat it. We got the romantic couples bike ride deal where you get the bikes for 3 hours. Comes with packed lunch, water, a towel to use at the beach, and a free lunch pail cooler you get to take home!! It was literally the perfect date! Tip: you pick up your lunches at a yogurt shop down the street. It was a lot of fun creating your own sandwich online after booking this deal and then they have it made ready for u to take on your ride. It was a bit scary for me to ride bikes on the streets next to cars. Even though there was a bike lane, I'm just not use to it. Make sure you look both ways and ride on the correct side of the street! Lol One thing that would've made this experience better was if there were other places to ride our bikes to besides the beach. There wasn't really a scenic route or pier so we just circled around the same places and went to the beach for lunch. Overall, we rode the bikes for about 2 hours and was pretty much done. read more

I just realized I had never written a review and had meant to. My husband and I had a weekend without the kids for his birthday and part of our fun was to rent electric bikes. We had never done this before and weren't sure if it would be that great....but it was!! We had so much fun! We rode down to Leucadia and went down side streets we had never been on to explore. We had such a blast! We are so excited to do it again together and plan in bringing friends to this location. The service at Pedego was exceptional! They gave us great attention and tips! I can truly say this as after renting bikes from them, I had a girls weekend and we rented electric bikes (elsewhere because of where we were staying) and the experience was very different.
