After Mike Reichenbach Ford sold me a defective vehicle. I decide to go online and look for another vehicle and trade-in the Ford toss that I brought from Mike Reichenbach Ford I went to CarMax Myrtle Beach website to inquire about a 2015 Ford flex SE around July 26, 2025 a Carfax representative ran my credit and told me I was approved that same representative a female then told me something went wrong and they will have to run my credit again. What she did she been told I was approved again. I then told her I was trading in my 2014 Ford Taurus she then contact my credit union for the payoff value. I was then told to put down a $200 transfer and fee to have the vehicle towed to CarMax Myrtle Beach. I paid the fee. I was been contacted by Myrtle Beach CarMax letting me know that there have been problems getting the car to their location. It will take two more days. The car finally reached Myrtle Beach CarMax the staff notified me that the vehicle has arrived and set me up for an appointment to come in. I could not make that appointment on that day because I live two hours away so I asked them could the vehicle be told to my house being that I already filled out the necessary papers online they told me I will have to come in. They told me that a bus would take me to their location, which they lied. No bus goes there so instead, I canceled the appointment and made it for another day instead I drove there while on the phone driving there. I talk to the staff member there at CarMax posing as the dealer he then told me he would have to do another credit check on me in order for me to get the vehicle. I explained to him that two credit checks already been had done on me and I was approved this male employee told me that he still have to do another credit check which he did these employees at CarMax told me that these were soft hits on my credit which they lied once again bringing my credit score way out of buying range most likely that's what they wanted to do then I was told not to even come to pick the vehicle up because the vehicle need to be serviced in order for me to drive away with it. Remind you I was already there outside of the building while talking on the phone with them. CarMax and their financing did show racial lending practice doing this ordeal of me buying this vehicle Carfax did refund my $200 for the transferring fee to bring the vehicle to CarMax Myrtle Beach after calling the corporate office. I spoke with another female employee who investigated but still did not want to sell me the car after they totally disrespected me. I was highly qualified to buy that vehicle and they refused to sell it to me. there was no need to hit my credit three times told me I was approved all three times but I'm still without a vehicle that's total racial harassment that came from CarMax Myrtle Beach. read more

This outfit is the most organized and congenial group of sales folks that I've come across. I sold a car to them with such ease and was able to leave their site without feeling like a victim. A younger lady was appointed as our sales person and obviously had paid attention throughout her training. She handled our request with an expert aire about her as she worked through Carmax's process to get the deal done. It almost seemed too easy. If all of their staff are as proficient as M.M. Lack Integrity. was given an appraisal to sell my car, then during updating docs to finalize realized my mileage was 400 miles off... updated to continue and was given a new appraisal 11k lower! I was unsettled by such a change so called, was told I should come in person for appraisal, then manager and sales rep would sit down and we could see if we could get accurate appraisal between the two prebooks. 45 minutes later... the young salesman who had been explained my unique situation continued to go back and forth to manager... I was never provided any conversation with manager or any interest in helping numbers meet ... manager never met with me ... and they stuck with the lowest price. While sitting there I did same process with carvanna... they offered me 3k more immediately. BEWARE ... this wolf is in sheep clothing... they communicate as if they are customer service oriented and professional in their follow up... lacked integrity or care to help me at all. read more

I had a car shipped to Myrtle Beach last week, It arrived yesterday December 16, 2024. at the time I reserve the vehicle to be shipped Jeff asked me if I would be possibly interested in extended warranty I said yes how much would it be and he gave me a few choices I picked the $600 deductible for 150,000 miles and 60 months five years, whichever comes first he quoted me a price of somewhere between $1800 and $2200 so yesterday I reserved the spot for a test drive and a expedited checkout when I get there, I thought the car would be upfront being ready to test drive and get out of of the dealership quickly I was paying cash for the vehicle so limited amount of paperwork. The vehicle is, nowhere on site so the sales people came up to me. Talk to went and did their thing get everything I went out and I found the car went up to the car. It wasn't detailed. It wasn't washed. Nothing was done to it. It was dirty. Now they knew I was coming to test drive the vehicle. This is not a surprise. I did not just vaporized into the lot and say here I am this is all preplanned. So as I'm looking at the vehicle, the salesman comes out at the same time. I get a call from Carmax asking me when I'm gonna come to look at the car. I'm like what are you talking about? I'm standing in front of the car, so she goes oh I need to go over a few things with you and then she starts talking about the max care extended warranty program. and proceeded to tell me that it's be $7000 but for only 100,000 miles and 60 months with an $800 deductible deductible with the salesman standing next to me. I hung up on her and I said we have to go inside and talk so we go inside and they were like well. He shouldn't have said that to you when you reserved the car to be transferred to Myrtle Beach. I didn't make it up. I have no reason to make it up. so I go into the showroom with the sales person and the manager. I'm assuming she was the manager and the first thing they is well who told you that I wasn't really sure but I think his name was Jeff, but guess what whoever the approval for the shipment of the vehicle from a digital signature of who approved it and that's the person I so don't try to use that like I was making anything I'm not stupid although you think I am. They were unwilling to do anything so the best price they gave me was ,$4200 for 100,000 miles 60 months and the car already had 54,000 miles on it. They were unwilling to lower the price of the car. They were unwilling to adjust the max care package due to their error, but the funny thing is when I reserve the car to be delivered to Myrtle Beach if they would've told me the max care would be $4200 I would have made arrangements to have the money but because they lied to me, deceived me and just said that to get me into the store I only came prepared to pay the 1800 or the 2200. but what's even funnier is that they think they lost the sale because of the Maxcare debacle that's part of it but the major part of it is you knew I was coming to test drive your vehicle you didn't care what it looked like you didn't wash it you didn't vacuum the inside. You didn't wipe it down. It looked like crap and if you would put a little care into it and took an hour or two to detail it properly, I would've bought it. So because you're lazy and you to me, and you don't care about your product or your customers you lost a $35,000 cash sale. so maybe upper management might want to see this or at least hear about it because I think someone needs some retraining or maybe that's. How do you train your employees to deceive people to get them in and then once they touch it look at it sit in it it's hard to say no. So I came home and started looking at more vehicles and I really found one I really like and it's a Carmax vehicle ,but guess what I'm not buying it. But they did refund my $199 for shipping the vehicle to Myrtle Beach. All is good life is good new day and I will find my Audi. Wow. Either the industry as a whole has adopted a stronger pro-business model recently, or the model in use at Myrtle Beach Carmax is unusually tough on customers these days. I bought my vehicle from this company about 13 months ago, and the trade-in value/offer given today on the same vehicle is less than 60% of the retail value then. I know retail price is not the same as trade-in value, but that's still RIDICULOUS. This former customer will use one of the many options later to buy my next auto. I highly recommend all readers to avoid Carmax. Think of the x in the name as meaning "NO!!". read more

They offered me $400 for my car that's at least $1,200+ in trade-in value according to Kelly Blue Book. Definitely not seeking their business any time soon as that kinda feels like a rip off. Stay away! Went in the other day only to be informed I was number four on the waitlist. Waited over an hour and a half and finally somebody came over and asked if I wanted to look at the car I had indicated online the day earlier. After looking at the car I realized it was a mess. Worst experience I've ever had buying a car... came in with no appointment and got checked in, was told we are first in line and don't need to make an appointment...1 hour later, many customers served before us. Came up to ask and was told by someone we should have made an appointment. Then we made an appointment online and also called in. Was told again an appointment was not needed on the call..that was a lie! We went to Carmax looking for a Cadillac XT5. They found one and told us it would be delivered in three days. Five days later we drove there and were told it just arrived. We waited for them to take it off the truck, clean it up, and did the paperwork to test drive it. We fell in love with it went back inside and we're on the process of buying it when the salesman came back and told us they had the wrong car. Two hours into this they told us our car was still in Wilmington NC. The next day we drove to Wilmington and the car they showed us was covered in nicks and scrapes. All the way around the entire SUV had white paint all over the place where the nicks were. The bumper had a large scrape across it. We called the MB salesman back and he said he found another SUV. It would be there in three days. We had him do the transfer, again three days. We then got a email saying he'd like us to wait until Friday because that's when he worked again. On Friday we emailed him we're on our way to see it and he called and said the windows didn't work and they sent it to the shop and he didn't know when it would be back. Could find out on Monday.... total roller coaster ride. Done with Carmax. :( read more

I was looking for a Kia Soul and visited their website. They had one on site and others available to be transferred to the location. The car on site was exactly what I was after and their staff was great! I kept looking around waiting on the usual car dealership hassle and sales pitch but it never came. Instead, they let me look over the car and served to answer my questions and discuss my options rather than try to sell me on a car. No high pressure tactics, a chance to look over the car at my pace, and professional courtesy were my takeaways (along with the car). read more

I recently purchased a suv from car max on March 7th and never received a temporary registration at purchase. I was subsequently towed for not having one and I still haven't received my license plates. So now my car is still impounded and will result in over a thousand dollars in impound fee's. I can't get a tow release until I receive my plates and registration which at this point I have no faith in it arriving. I will never buy another car here nor recommend carmax to anyone. read more

I had a previous experience with Carmax in Fredericksburg, VA and was thrilled. The Carmax in Myrtle Beach couldn't be more UNprofessional. I was told it would take 13 days to get a vehicle from Ellicott City, MD to MB......really. Not happy about that, but agreed to have the vehicle transferred. Get a text on Sunday that the vehicle would be delivered by Monday evening. Tuesday morning texted the individual I was working with to confirm the vehicle was in fact delivered. It was at 9:30 am and she said she couldn't confirm that until the store opened at 11am, ok no problem. Texted again at 11:30 am asking the same question, she texted back at 12:25pm stating she still couldn't confirm it. Called Carmax and requested to speaking to a manager; first time on hold 9 minutes, second time on hold for 7 minutes, and the third time transferred to a line that just rang and rang and rang, etc. If they can't answer a simple question or tracking a vehicle, why would I want to give them $37,000 of my hard earned money. read more

Our only disappointment was that the car we wanted in SC would take two weeks to get to VA so we traveled to SC to get it. We were not sorry - the car was exactly as advertised, just what we wanted.
