The experience itself was different than usually buying a car, since financing is done in house. I found it helps the process go quicker. Everyone there is friendly. Make sure to preschedule your test drive. If you have good credit the only way to bring your interest rate down is with a bigger down payment, that was a little frustrating, but I was able to increase the down payment. NOW onto the frustration** when leaving with my beautiful new(ish) Nissan Altima, I noticed that the windshield tint had been ripped by whoever scraped the dealer tags off while I was signing paperwork. Carmax usually has a service center to deal with things within the 90 day warranty- but not things like THIS. Ive been trying to work to get the tint replaced while ensuring I'm not the one paying for it because it was *THEIR* fault. Their response was "find a shop you want to go to and call us for our credit card number" *facepalm* This morning before my appointment to the tint shop I called the service shop to tell them was on my way to repair the windshield and I still have not received a return call. Luckily for them the shop I initially used (that review to come) flaked out so I have to find someone else. After one of the times I took my car in to get it serviced for the 4th time, I got it back with the steering wheel damaged, a chip in the rear passenger window and a hefty new dent on the drivers door. After waiting for weeks for the management team to get back to me to repair all of the damage caused by them they were not willing to fix the damages they caused. This is the second vehicle I bought from them and will be the last. I regret spending $20k+ for the most recent vehicle and $45k for the other. They had the nerve to offer me to come back to fix the squeaky brakes that they supposedly already fixed. There is no way I was going to let another employee of theirs get into my car, risk further damage, and not take responsibility for it. They had a chance to make it right and they didn't. Terrible experience. I brought my own financing with the carmax team seemed unable to comprehend. They caused a huge fight with the bank after the fact. Additionally, they pictured the keys with a fob and rack keys. They lost those so only provided a card for the vehicle at purchase. They said they would submit a service ticket for a replacement which I have yet to see. I went to the vehicle manufacturer and purchased a key directly and they said carmax does not have an account with them for charge back, which carmax said they had, so I had to pay for the replacement. For your own safety, please, DO NOT come here. I would give negative stars if I could. My husband financed a car here and purchased every package available from insurance to warranty. He was sold a car with a re-tread tire that unraveled while we were commuting. This literally shredded the computer and totaled the car. His insurance at the time, suggested by Carmax, did not tow it and we had to use one of my AAA roadside assistance calls for my car that I owned. Once we were towed there, the girl at the front desk was incredibly nasty to us and told us we must have hit something (we were driving on a straight road with no obstructions) and the tire just combusted. You can also see from these photos that the rip is clean and right down the seam of the tire- in other words a retread that was never mentioned to us once at purchase. I really regret not fighting this more- as Carmax hit our driving records with "act of nature" and made it difficult to finance another car. It had been disclosed that this car had 1 accident but I could get NO INFORMATION from them and when I saw the welds I had the impression the accident may have been more serious. This is from my 2017 experience. My review in Facebook resurfaced earlier today. I've bought and sold vehicles st several CarMax locations. It's usually a pleasant and low key experience. I came in with an appointment to see two vehicles, one of which was a transfer from South Broadway. We are talking a very close distance. In fact, I've purchase a vehicle there. I was a few minutes early and checked in, only to be told that the woman with whom I had an appointment was about to leave for lunch and would back in an hour to 90 minutes. They scramble to find someone to take the appointment. Eventually, they find someone but they aren't a salesperson. It takes them 30 minutes to find the in lot vehicle. It's fine but I want to see the second vehicle before making a purchase decision. They hadn't bothered to effect the transfer. But will do so. Should be there in two days. Did I mention I made the appointment four or five days in advance so both vehicles would be there. I call two days later. No one knows what I'm talking about. I call three days later. Same story. Same story on days four, five and six. I move on and purchase a car elsewhere about three weeks later. Yep, you guessed it. Two weeks after that, I get an irate phone call about the Ford Flex that's been sitting on their lot for nearly six weeks, waiting for me. This facility isn't worthy of the CarMax branding. Basically every part of my experience has been a major headache. The car they sold me had a tire blow to shreds the second day I bought it. After sending me back and forth from the office to the service department, they eventually found someone to tell me that tires aren't covered under the warranty that I was told covers "anything that happens." They then told me it would take two weeks before they could change the tires in their shop. Comical wait time for such a simple task, the Big O in Castle Pines did it for me in 90 minutes. Much of the staff is rude and clueless teenagers and if you want to speak to an adult you're going to have to insist on it. As for financing, it's actually done by a company called "CarMax Auto Finance," so if you refinance through your bank (a must since their rates are absurd) you will have to mail the check clear across the country to Georgia. Please, do what I wish I had done and ask your bank which dealerships they partner with. Dealing with this company has been a demoralizing experience. I'm eager to get my car refinanced just so I can stop doing "business" with them. read more

I requested a transfer on March 21st, it took a week to get any sort of update. Carmax.... Here is a recommendation NOT to do business with them. We bought a 2015 Hyundai Elantra 12/2022 with 60,000 miles on it for $15,000. After 426 miles the engine died. They replaced the engine. From March 2023 until today, 18 months, we have put 6,000 miles on it and the engine is bad again. They will give us $2,500 for the vehicle, a $12,500 loss in less than two years on a lemon vehicle. Years ago I had a great experience with at least one (different) CarMax location, so I was excited when Parker had (or claimed to have) the car I wanted. While it could have turned out much worse, my experience with CarMax Parker has definitely not meet my basic expectations when compared to my past experiences with the other CarMax location and competitors. This location has been a Trainwreck at all steps of the process and all levels from sales associate to management. First, the salesman I initially purchased from was distracted by some video or radio coming from his phone most of the time I was there - not the main issue but worth mentioning in context of the theme of employee professionalism and competence. Second, as a Coloradan I specifically sought and purchased a car that was advertised online as AWD. It was wet outside that day and I didn't get a chance to look underneath during the test drive, not that a customer should have to verify such a material mechanical feature as AWD - should the customer also verify it has the right engine, brakes, etc? So, the next day I noticed it had no rear drive axles. I could understand them mis-advertising minor features, but this seems like a big miss. Fortunately they had a 30-day return policy, (which they no longer have, it's only 10 days now), which gave me time to look for a different one to exchange, or simply return, which I do appreciate about CarMax. Initially I found a suitable replacement, and it was shipped to Parker from another state, but then it was sold to someone else before I was even contacted to see it! Then I found a second suitable replacement online, it was also shipped, and luckily I checked the website everyday because the same thing almost happened, it showed as 'available' this morning, hours before I was called to test drive it! Then when I got home, I realized that the Maxcare policy, same price for same year/model, was suspiciously reduced to 48 months / 150k miles instead of 60 months/ 150k miles. Why the difference in months if it's the same miles and expires whichever comes first anyway? When I called to inquire, the business office associate was dismissive/ didn't try very hard to explain and didn't offer a solution, I guess she made her sale and I am now dead to her. I understand this is the Walmart/Goodwill of used cars and one should not expect the same level of service and empathy as a proper dealership, but things seem to have gone downhill since my last experience and I feel I was taken advantage of twice (whether due to shadiness or incompetence, I'll never know), and will think twice next time, as my previous trust and excitement for the CarMax brand / business model has been lost. I think they missed a valuable opportunity to do a few easy things to turn their mistake around and earn a great customer relationship. For example, they could have immediately have the top leader at Parker and a national customer care team call to apologize, have that national team work with the customer to locate, reserve, and ship the very next match CarMax buys nationwide, without any effort from the customer like I had to do (basically start over), buyback and treat the initially purchased car as a loaner (reducing my risk/stress) and maybe cover the new warranty as an apology - and certainly not *reduce* the terms of the warranty! I've also read that CarMax recently had a corporate leadership change and is no longer employee-centric, perhaps that could be part of the underlying problem with employee competence and customer care. Overall, I think that paying adequate attention to detail about what you're selling, and having empathy for the customer experience and humility/ taking responsibility when things go wrong, would go a long way to bring this CarMax up to par with its peers. I am giving a couple stars because I think there are overall some good people here just trying to make a living in a corporate culture/process they must follow, and like Walmart while it lacks in service it leads in sheer volume/inventory. read more

Worst customer service in the history of car sales. I reserved and transferred a Land Rover from NV to this CarMax in November 2020. Never heard from anyone until I called in January. The vehicle was at the dealership but they were waiting on the title. So I waited a couple weeks and again never heard from anyone. I called again to get an update and the title had just arrived but had an issue due to a CA title transfer and the vehicle could not be sold in CO. I inquired about purchasing the vehicle through CA as I also have a CA residence and was told someone would follow up with me. Again...no one followed up so I called 2 days later. Come to find out the vehicle had been transferred to NM. No one ever called me to apologize or offer a solution or to find another car. I purchased my vehicle a Yukon Denali 2016 for $52,000 dollars i paid cash for my vehicle and i also purchased the extended warranty as I wasn't sure if everything was really in working order and the guy who sold me the car told me that they fix everything from the engine to the leather in the vehicle with a deductible of $300 as long as i don't go over 100,000 miles or it's not been longer than 48 months. I thought, wow what a deal!! I also had the option in the first 90 days to have my vehicle serviced and fixed for free. So about two months into my purchase i realize my 90 days was coming up so I wanted to check and see if everything was in working order. i don't sit in the back seat but i was checking out the car and i noticed no remote to the dvd system and the screen in the back didn't work. (mind you I couldn't check and see if the DVD player was working because I didn't bring a DVD with me) I called multiple locations, I called the Broadway location the Parker location, Colorado Springs location and they had no availability to get me in before my 90 days. why do they say they provide that and then all of a sudden no locations are available for service for 30 days out. The service department at Parker told me that they are not taking any vehicles in for repair that they are only servicing vehicles that are going to be bought from them... I think that she forgotten I just purchased a car with them. She shut me down and that was very frustrating. Colorado springs couldn't get me in before my 90 day mark. 30 days back logged. i was confused on why I wasn't able to get service when I purchased a vehicle and was promised that in the first 90 days that I can get everything fixed or I can return the vehicle. My second mistake was not returning the vehicle. It sucks because I really like my vehicle so I tried branching out and got in contact with car toys , I wanted to see if my DVD player could be fixed they told me that I have to go through either GMC or I needed to go back to Carmax and have them fix it. like i had state before I should've return the vehicle when I had the opportunity to as they didn't follow through on their word on getting my vehicle in, in the first 90 days. Well now that the 90 days is up and gone and DVD player not fixed cause I couldn't get an appointment now I'm having issues with the front end of my vehicle. I have a shock absorber that needs to be replaced and R&R front struts with a differential kit which is going to cost $3800. I called the Loveland location to get my warranty from them since that's where i had purchased the vehicle. (I attempted to call the Parker location, but since they are all individually owned, they weren't able to disclose my warranty with me so I had to contact the Loveland location.) Reed sent me over my warranty, which disclose absolutely nothing that they covered. The girl at Parker carmax told me that they couldn't get my vehicle in yet again, and that I should reach out to trusted Carmax service centers, such as service Street in Parker, Colorado, she told me i could do it and I can do all of it Online. She made it sound so easy but don't be fooled like me! when I walked into service street where the appointment was they had no record of me having an appointment. They told me that they cannot fix my DVD player that i had to take my car to car toys which they already told me that they cant fix it either. i tell the woman at service Street that I have an extended warranty and she goes hopefully they cover it. they don't disclose anything that they cover in the paper that I signed for the warranty. In order for you to get any information you have to contact them via phone they don't have an email address no website just a phone number. Which is very weird to me because in the contract it states reference "you're responsibilities" for instructions. Where do I go to see what "you're responsibilities" are? It also states that I need to follow the maintenance listed in " maintenance requirements". Where the hell do I find any of that when they don't even have a webpage? In order for them to cover my vehicle it has to be approved by them or it's void. I will be out of a vehicle for already three days and that is without even having approval yet to do these services on my vehicle. They offer rental car reimbursement for $40 a day. They don't even have a vehicle on the website for $40 a day. An hopefully you're vehicle gets approved within seven days because you only get seven days for the rental car reimbursement. This place is fraudulent. do yourself a favor and go buy a brand new car because it's not even worth dealing with all of this. The management/leadership here is non-existent and we were helped by incompetent, unprofessional employees. I had an appointment at a specific time, showed up 30 minutes early and still waited 30 minutes after my appointment time to start working with someone. I checked in and they never asked for my license. I only had the digital version of my license in the my colorado app, the same one they the FAA recognizes as official.....the same one I used to rent a car multiple times, the same one recognized as official by bars, dispensaries, liquor stores, and everywhere else that accepts Id...even police officers accept it...but who doesn't? After test driving a few cars my wife and I decided that we wanted a 2019 Audi Q5 transferred from another location. I called the sales associate who helped us (Ben) and he said he would initiate the transfer, even gave me an ETA. A week goes by and I see the car we asked to be transferred as still available. The car eventually showed up to the Parker store, after a few days and several phone calls I find out that there was an issue with the title. We were told around 8 that we could be driving the car away in "20-25 minutes" but that was a lie. We were just told that it'll be an additional 25 minutes because of all their unpreparedness. Avoid this place at all cost. It is the worst dealership experience I've ever had. Worst customer service ever. Stay away at all cost. Their maintenance department is a joke and will simply refer you out and put you in rental cars until they tell you that they didn't even need to do that in the first place for half of that time! On top of it they still try to collect out of your pocket...or keep the number handy for your community services organization to help pay your bill! read more
