    Smooth, No-Pressure Experience at CarMax Bakersfield After months of visiting multiple dealerships in search of a very specific 2019 BMW 540i with the M Sport Package to replace my 21-year-old 525i, I found the right car at CarMax. From shipping the vehicle from Riverside to Bakersfield to driving off the lot, everything was straightforward and well organized. The Bakersfield team was consistently friendly and professional, and there was never any pressure--even when we declined the MaxCare extended warranty. The paperwork was handled quickly, and the entire pickup took less than two hours. Our sales associate, Keesh, was knowledgeable, attentive, and easy to work with, which made the experience even smoother. If you're looking for a transparent, low-stress way to purchase a quality used vehicle, I highly recommend CarMax Bakersfield.

    The staff are always judgmental about customers and decide who gets treated differently based on looks and style. My parents and I went to look at a GMC, when we arrived the building was empty with only 2-3 customers and 7-9 sales reps on the floor. The man who initially took our names down at the front desk said it would be about a 5 Min wait to speak with someone. That was fine with us as it allowed us to walk the lot with no problem or pressure giving us the time look at the car we reserved online. So after waiting 10 min or so the guy comes out to the lot and opens up the truck and leaves us with the keys to turn it on etc. We waited about 30-Mins and No call or text about getting help or going for a test drive. So we walked a bit more then went inside. Only to be told that it would be about another 20Min wait to get help. We saw 3 Reps just sitting down on their phones and not even trying to make conversation about anything. We asked to test drive the car then the guy mentioned that it would still be awhile as all sales reps are busy with customers. We had got the idea that they didn't want to help out any Hispanic people since only the White people and couples had been sitting talking with sales reps. The atmosphere was so off that even the other Latino couple sitting waiting decided to walk off with us after we asked if it normally takes 60+mins to test drive a car. They responded that they been waiting for about 45mins or so prior to us showing up. Even with an appointment we still didn't get to test drive or run some numbers on the car. The worst part is some white lady came in with her car on a tow truck and got helped out by 2 sales reps right away but we had to wait for a while before even being considered. So with our deposit and check of 44K we went to the GMC up the street and happily drove off with our new Denali. I don't recommend this place at all unless you wanna waste time and patience. This place falls below average or standard for auto sales. We have purchased at the Ontario location with no issues at all. Unfortunately one mistake is all it takes to make an impact on your buying experience ; this place did just that. Made a terrible experience for us. It felt very prejudicial since we been buying from Carmax since 2016. In a way glad because we were able to locate a new dealer right up the street and were welcomed with open arms. They even offered water and snacks while we looked around. Dutton Buick GMC is the place to be, extremely friendly staff. Clean and hygienic location. Very knowledgeable staff members who actually want to help.

    I found this 2017 Corolla Se I really liked on the carmax website. I thought it was worth the 1.5 hour drive to check out the car based on the pictures, CARFAX, and the minor imperfections that were disclosed on the carmax website. Unfortunately I arrived late in the evening and this car is black. It looked pretty good under the light though. I noticed there was a pretty bad stain on the headliner from what looks like a leak that wasn't disclosed in the website. Also the rear spoiler comes painted to match the car, yet this car's spoiler was just unpainted dull plastic. Also the car had a really bad smell of body odor. I asked if could get the stain out from the headliner and I was told they didn't don't have the capability required to get the stain out. The paint on the roof was also bad. It showed signs of wear. They said I could make an appointment to have it touched up. So I bought the car and drove it home. The next morning with the sun out, I got to take a good look at the car. There were far more imperfections than carmax had listed. The most noticable, all the small touch ups to the paint. It was done very sloppy with no attempts to blend into the existing paint, but only cover deep pits and scratches. Looks like it was done with nail polish tbh. The next thing I noticed was the rear trunk and bumper. That spoiler not being painted was a red flag. Which is what got me to notice the uneven gaps and spacing between the trunk and rear quarter panel. Very close and tight to the passenger side while very uneven and large on the driver side. And that's when I noticed the paint on the rear bumper and rear quarter panels on both sides. The car comes in this really pretty metallic black with fine blue refractions that sparkle really nicely..but the paint used to "blend" the rear bumper/ rear quarter panel is a nonmetallic solid black. At a glance, you don't really notice, but you can clearly see where there is an absence of blue refractors, also the clear coat was put on too thick and had dimples. With all these red flags, i feel like this car had been rear ended, although it's sold with "no known"" accidents. Also, the car was in really bad need of alignment. While driving at speeds greater of 25 miles the wheel pulls hard to the left. You're constantly adjusting the steering to keep the car straight. It's something that should've been taken care of before hand. In fact, the alignment is listed under the 125+ inspection that carmax says they follow on their website. They also say they detail the car to their standards... but parts of the steering wheel were sticky and whatever they used to wipe the interior reflective surfaces was left with a greasy film full of lint. I went to carmax because I thought they would have a higher standard for the vehicles they sell over that of a private seller. They should be ashamed of presenting prospective customers with vehicles in such poor condition. I expected better. I returned the car later that day. The manager said they had a guy that could take care of all the cosmetic issues, but when I asked about that the previous night I was told they didn't have the capability. I will say, John the sales guy, he was awesome. I felt bad because he actually stayed late to ensure everything went smooths with my purchase. Sorry Carmax, never again,

    Over a year later and still cant get these scam artists to fulfill their contract. Bumper going to fall off before they do anything.

I didn't beat around the bush and neither did they. It took about 3 days in order to try to get a deal worked out for me and they went to every avenue and every corner to try to make this happen for me which let's be honest, a lot of places would have given up on me a long time ago. I get it, an old cop car through most banks would not qualify for financing BUT, it's the car that I wanted. Antonio brought me in sat me and my wife down and laid it all out on the table with nothing to hide and I not only appreciate that but, I respect that as well. That has to be the absolute fastest I've EVER gotten a car from any dealership ever! There were no hidden fees, no bs and no drama. I am beyond Appreciative for Antonio taking the time explain everything to me and my wife and for having the patience to deal with us. If you want not only a beautiful looking p71 BUT, an extremely dependable one and well that hasn't been beat to hell, this is definitely the place to go. I stand on that!

No sales tactics, no awkward negotiations, and no feeling like you have to earn a black belt in bargaining just to buy a car. Edmund was fantastic from start to finish. Friendly, professional, knowledgeable, and incredibly easy to work with. He made us feel comfortable, answered every question, and never once made us feel pressured into anything. That's a rare find these days. Then we met with Paul in finance. Having grown up with family in the car business, I came in asking probably more questions than the average customer. Instead of getting frustrated, Paul was patient, understanding, and completely transparent every step of the way. However, the rotors wasn't there so I had to wait until they arrived, when they arrived, I was told I would have to come back another day because they were closing in 30 minutes after I set for three hours. Also no one was informing me on what was going on I found out all this information by walking outside to the service area and asking myself!! HORRIBLE SERVICE
