Purchased a Civic from this location 4-5 months ago, car is great but everything else was horrible. Sales associates are rude and have no idea what they are doing, they asked me zero questions about anything, then became annoyed with me when I told them I was going with outside financing. After this they fought me at every turn possible. First the buyers order was incomplete and I had to get it rewritten three times, then I was told they would not hold the car even though a loan for the car was being processed, finally they finally decided to work with me once the credit union requested the car be held during the processing and that they transfer the title. Absolutely worst experience ever and I will be filing a complaint with the AZ Attorney General's office and BBB. Paid for a car to be transferred from MD to AZ. Went through the whole process for financing. I did leave some negative feedback on the documents requested for financing which I thought was a bit much for a car loan. I have excellent credit and bought many cars in the past with no issue and not needing so much. But I did it anyway. Also had financing available from my own bank. Throughout the process the texts I would receive from the sales manager kept getting worse in the sense that they wanted more and more. Anyway, it was done and no issue at all with financing. The car arrived at the West Valley location and then Rob the manager called me and said, CARMAX is refusing to do business with me which he said was their right. Obviously they didn't like my feedback and freedom of speech or just didn't like my name and discriminating even though I am Italian. Rob refused to tell me why they will not do business with me. I called customer service and still waiting on why. It has nothing to do with financing and all just because they don't like me, my name, my nationally, or freedom of speech. Not sure why. This after I pad $2000 to have it delivered to AZ. They said they would refund me that fee but I have yet to see it. Their customer service as many .. many .. people have complained about is horrific. I an filming a complaint with the Attorney General and advise you to stay far away from CARMAX , epically this one. Beyond awful service. I would give them 0 stars if I could. Monica and Chad were extremely rude and unhelpful. We started with arriving around 2 pm. We were not greeted or acknowledged by anyone so we proceeded to head to the lot to begin looking at cars since we had already known which 2 cars we had wanted to test drive that day. We headed back inside shortly after and was still not acknowledge by anyone for nearly 20 minutes until CHAD walked up. We had told them we hadn't been helped yet and wanted to sign up for the waitlist. We had asked how long the waitlist was and the answer we were given very rudely was "it could be 20 minutes or it could be 2 hours. It's a tough business." so we signed up and headed back to our car to wait until we received a call. 3.5 hours go by and we still hadn't heard anything so we went BACK to carmax at 5:30 to resign up on the waitlist. We were told it would be a 5-10 minute wait. 45 minutes went by without hearing anything so we headed back up to the desk only for MONICA to tell us we got pushed back for an appointment and that they would likely not be able to see us today since it was already 6:15 and they closed at 7. The reason we were given was because "most of the staff get off at 6". Not sure why you would have your closing listed as 7 if apparently all the staff get off at 6. We explained the events of the day to Monica who was rude and unapologetic of our experience. I guarantee if we had not gotten up to ask about our spot on the waitlist we likely would've sat there until nearly 7 without a word from any other staff. We bought a car from CarMax in February, and the problems started before we even drove it off the lot. When we first saw it, the car was filthy -- crumbs, sticky cup holders, stained headliner, dusty surfaces, and fingerprints everywhere. We were told it would be cleaned, but when we came back to buy it, it was still dirty. Even after a second "cleaning," it was barely touched. We had to pay out of pocket for a proper detail. Within the first month: Brakes squeaked and ground -- had to bring it back twice before they were actually fixed. Windshield washer hose wasn't even connected, spraying fluid into the engine. Door seal was missing, causing leaks; they promised to order it, but six months later we're still waiting. Now the AC has failed. We left voicemails for three weeks with no call back from their service desk, despite having the extended warranty they sold us. The salesperson eventually advised us not to use CarMax's own service center -- which says everything -- and to try the dealership. The dealership wanted to keep the car for 3 weeks before even starting work, but the warranty only covers 7 days of a rental. An independent partner shop fixed it in days and found the cabin air filter so clogged it was impossible it had been replaced before sale, despite what CarMax told us. This was supposed to be a reliable, family-ready car. Instead, we got poor prep, repeated mechanical problems, broken promises, and unresponsive service. We'll never buy from CarMax again, and we recommend others steer clear. read more

We picked up the new suv, got on the highway to head home and the smell coming from the vents smelled like a burnt vacuum. The next few days, the burning smell continued, the radio wouldn't function properly, the brakes were grinding, the steering wheel was hard to turn. Scheduled a service appointment. Mike took the list of things wrong, Sat there for 3hrs to be told I just needed power steering fluid & they fixed my brakes. I went on to bring it back in several times for the same EXACT issues. I was told it was fixed and nothing was wrong, came back again and after talking to the service manager, they found they put the wrong size rotors on my SUV so they corrected it. We are now at a little over the year with the vehicle. SAME ISSUES, took it to service and now I have a power steering line leak that's not covered under the extended warranty. The same burning smell. I know they offer great prices but STAY FAR AWAY, per their services partner in another shop, the things wrong with my vehicle should all be covered under my warranty but Carmax won't repair. First off I want to say that I don't like writing a bad review, but my experience with Carmax has been the worst, every car that I have gotten from this dealership or any other Carmax dealership has been like driving a ticking time bomb. My first experience with Carmax was in 2018 after I purchased a 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT eight, not even two days after purchasing the vehicle for more than $32,000 it almost killed me after the brakes completely failed and almost put me into a gas pump! After that the check engine light came on! And then every other light on the dash started blinking so I returned the vehicle for a Mustang 2018 5.0 premium, I test drove the vehicle but there was heavy traffic so I couldn't get over 50 miles an hour, well after the dealership closed and I signed for the vehicle I got past 50 miles an hour and the rear end on the mustang started shaking uncontrollably finding out that it had a bad drive shaft! Like how do you miss this? Is this the quality inspection and safety inspection that they constantly rave about? So then I got another car that one had issues, and this is not after years of heavy driving, this is after a few days or even a few hours after purchase. Which brings me to my latest adventure with Carmax. I sold Carmax of Scottsdale my jeep Sahara that I have had for about four years, but it was not the car for me anymore, I've also had issues with this and Carmax told me to go pound sand plus they did not honor their expensive warranty they sell. How do I know this? I took my jeep to Dodge and Dodge told me that there's no way that the damage to the axle could be the severe unless I got into an accident or I went off road and jumped over a giant rock, well I didn't do that so Carmax once again sold me a damaged vehicle, then they refused to fix it. So I sold them their vehicle back, after getting the problem fixed out-of-pocket which was a little over $3000! I even had Dodge call them and they told the warranty department that it was not my fault, but Car Max Warrenty department said sucks to be you the car is yours you bought it we don't cover damages like that. Enter 2021, about five days ago I purchased a 2017 Chrysler 300 with about 58,000 miles on it, after about four days of nonsense, taking them three days to transport the car from Scottsdale to Glendale, then waiting longer because they said that they had to perform a safety inspection and multiple checkpoints and all kinds of fancy language I finally drove off in the vehicle. It was dark when I left the dealership so I didn't notice all the damage inside the interior, but as the days progress the vehicle started having more issues, when I put it in reverse it makes a hard slamming sound in the transmission which is very scary, it pulls hard to the left, the vehicles making some weird sounds, and tonight the steering wheel adjustment broke so now the steering wheel is crushing my knees making the vehicle not drivable. As I said before I don't like saying negative things about businesses. The CarMax is just one of those that is so frustrating because they talk a good game but don't back it up. I am getting ready for battle tomorrow when I have to bring in my car and it's not going to be taken to Carmax, I'm taking it to dodge where they actually know what they're doing but I'm going to have Carmax pay for it because I haven't even put 1500 miles on this car and already it's breaking apart? The only reason I purchase vehicles from this place is because I have bad credit but if you have the option, try and haggle with a dealership, it's not worth risking your life literally because even though they say these cars are inspected and obviously they miss some pretty obvious things! Go to Carvana, I've heard good stuff about them from a few friends, oh also the car does not hold memory, erases all of my personal settings on my radio every time the car is turned off. we purchased a car from them that was repainted, but it was not mentioned until we got there. The paint job was very low level. The car was beautiful inside, but it had issues that they couldn't fix within their 10 day. Which causes a problem for me, knowing that if they push the car out with an issue are they really checking the cars, why do they have the people who are knowledgeable to check the cars? sadly, we returned the car because they wouldn't extend the 10 day return. Before the car was fixed, we wanted a fair shot to be able to drive the car and then make a determination on whether or not we were keeping it, but it needed to be repaired first and they wouldn't extend a 10 day. Absolute worst experience I have ever had with a car dealership. I transferred a car online and paid $650 to transfer the car. Three days after the transfer, I found out (because I checked the status online) that the transfer would take over three weeks. This would have been okay, if someone has told me ahead of time. I did speak was someone on the phone to set the transfer up, and no one bothered to tell me. There were no updates throughout the process. When I was finally able to test drive the car, the salesman told me I was only allowed to take it for twenty minutes. When you walk into the dealership, there is a huge sign that says 24 hour test drive. When I asked the salesman, he said oh that doesn't really apply in this situation. That's only for people who give us their full auto policy. I am absolutely able to do this, so why did he not give me this option? Is this CarMax's way of discriminating against an older woman? This whole experience has been miserable and the salesman are uncaring and have absolutely no concern for the people. Also, the car had 1000k more miles on it than advertised. In addition to that, the salesman (it's a Saturday) said they will only hold the car for four days for me to arrange for financing from my bank. Nice of them to tell me almost four weeks after they took $650 from me. read more

I took my car in to potentially sell it with you guys. My car had a pre appraisal of $16k. When I took the car in for evaluation we were told it was only worth $14k. My car is a 2021 Chrysler 300s w only 68k miles. Retail value at $26k and mmr /Amg $19k . Carvana offered $16500 and local dealerships $17500. When we looked at the report provided the Carmax we noticed lots of discrepancies with inaccurate information. They rep did not take time to assist us in going over the report or any sort of customer service. We feel this was intentional as again the rep did not take any time to validate with us the customers. I definitely would not recommend carmax to anyone read more

Pretty disappointed in CarMax ! Bummer I even have to write this. But after my 30 day mark, my car began overheating after 5 minutes. They were unable to get me in for 2-3 weeks for diagnostics... I took it in to another mechanic who let me know it needed an oil change and coolant flush first off - Something that shouldn't need to be done 30 days of having a car. A cover from something in the engine was hanging off as well. The first time it rained, I realized my wipers were shot and I could barely see. Almost $300 later, I am still having the same issues with overheating and CarMax still says they cannot even look at my car for 10 more days. I had a quick buying experience, but that's about all I can say at this point. Hopefully after it is fixed or they take it back I can give a better rating. Cindy was very diligent in finding the vehicle I was looking for, including all the must have features. Cindy kept me informed of the status of the vehicle we were having transferred from another location, as well as she answered all my questions, during the entire process. My son purchased a car that he loved! Unfortunately it was damaged and HAD to be returned! The CarMax service department was awful! There was a LARGE sheet of plastic (used by service department) wrapped and trapped under the car. It was MELTED around the axle which caused over $900 in damaged. It is obvious that the service inspection by CarMax was NOT completed prior to selling him the vehicle! He returned the vehicle and is STILL waiting for a refund to pay off the current loan! He traded in his old car to buy the new one! He now have NO car and NO money or new loan to buy another car! This has been the worst FIRST car-buying experience ever!!!! read more
